Every single time Ranjana cuts my hair, I walk out feeling amazing. I've had around 6 hair dressers in my adult life, and none of them have understood my hair as well. I had thicker, partially bleached hair and Ranjana was able to shape it and blow-dry it to give it life. I've also had her dye my hair to my natural color, and she was able to match my color perfectly. She's also just a really nice person, and I like chatting with her while she does my hair. This was my first time getting a color service and haircut with Carlo. He showed me some color swatches and we agreed on the copper/red shade which Carlo said would look the best on me. He was right, I am in Love with my hair color and got tons of compliments already! I wanted to cut my hair shorter with layers and the sides and back styled with a flirty flip. I wanted an apt and was told we book out one to two months in advance that is totally Ridiculous I have never ever heard of such a thing in my life. I have curly hair, and it's been hard to find a stylist since mine moved in 2017. Since then, I have forked up big money at Newbury and Harvard Square Salons recommended by friends, giving curly-hair stylists a chance for 3-4 haircuts. My hair looked okay leaving the salons but totally weird (uneven sides, triangle appearance) when I styled it myself. And that was with the same $$$ salon products. In early 2022, I happened upon Salon Cu on yelp. Carlo explained what the other stylists were missing with my hair (for example, razor cutting is bad for my hair type, but that's what other stylists had done). He set a plan of attack me to get my hair back in shape. It looked and felt better after the first cut, and after 4-5 haircuts it was back to looking healthy. I have my hair back! What a relief! Not only that, but Carlo is honest and thoughtful about making changes. I wanted to go shorter, and he reviewed the pictures I'd gathered and helped me understand why certain options wouldn't work with my hair. I picked one he said would work for my hair, and I love it - and I get lots of compliments. I trust Carlo and like him as a person - he's down-to-earth and real. Haircuts are quick and affordable, so I can go every six weeks. One of my friends goes to him now and loves how he cuts her hair, which is quite different than mine. read more

Should be 1-1/2 stars. This post is for a friend because she was very upset after her haircut. If it were you, you'd be upset too (see pic). She Went here based on all good yelp reviews. (Are they real???) Turns out her hair was "challenging" for them says the owner. ( what does that mean???) Owner offered to recut for free. But Seriously look at that hair!! It was grown out to be style & cut nicely for her upcoming wedding. Now her hair looks like it was hacked off with a saw. I am not kidding- look at the picture. This was AFTER the cut. WhAt is she supposed to do with that cut? They shoulda said Her hair was "challenging" BEFORE they started hacking & chopping it. Btw hairdresser was Lou. How did they win that hair salon award? I was looking for a new hair salon after being disappointed by my salon of over 10 years. I looked on Yelp and found salon cu. I read the reviews which said that Ranjana was really good with thick hair. I hadnt had my hair professionally done in two years. I last had a balayage in 2019, and then did some artic fox temporary red dye during quarantine last year. I had so many different colors in my hair, and the length was almost to my butt. Ranjana had to work so hard to strip the red from my hair but she did an amazing job and made sure she finished everything without me having to come back a second time, even though she had other appointments. Everyone worked as a team and helped get my hair how I wanted it. I was looking for a light brown balayage with lilac undertones. It was really tough to lift the past red dye from my hair but they did a great job. I had a balayage, a cut, and a blow dry for a very reasonable price. My hair is extremely thick, frizzy and curly. Its very hard to work with and I was so happy with the result. I can't wait to come back to see Ranjana again! read more

Ranjana is a magician with hair! I had brassy, blonde hair that was super damaged and had out growth of at least 4 months. She completely transformed my hair as seen in the photo. I had a consultation a week before getting it done and I showed her a picture of what I wanted. She was able to almost match the photo with the balayage and lowlights. Very rude salon. I booked an appointment three days ago and they rescheduled it from 1030 am to 930am. I was polite and agreed on the change even though it was a bit early for me. Then when I reached the salon I couldn't find parking which made me late by 10 mins and I was circling the salon from last 10 mins for a spot. I told them its my graduation ceremony next day and so if they can adjust for the any time later that day , I can wait but they said no we can't with a attitude at me and told me to cancel it.
