This is a bit overdue. I had been going to Lindsay Griffin for about 5 years and was happy there. Decent haircut though pricey. The last time I made an online appointment, I had trouble with the booking system and thought it had gone through correctly but apparently it didn't. I tried to book a 9 am appointment but it went into my calendar at 2 pm. So, I missed my 9 am slot. They called me when I no-showed and I was shocked. I had never missed an appointment. I knew their policy was no refund but I called to explain. Since the initial problem was with their online system and because I was a longtime, loyal client, I was hoping for a little grace. I was refused. Shocked again and disappointed. I know it was my responsibility to read the email confirmations so I take responsibility for that. But I also expected better from them. With only 2 stylists since after Covid, it's nearly impossible to get an appointment so I guess they don't value our business. Like I said, it's a decent cut but it's $90+ tip and takes a full hour. Today, I'm getting the same cut for 1/3 of that cost and plenty of compliments. But if you're look for a little decency, a little grace, a little customer appreciation and loyalty, you won't find it here. read more

I started coming to this salon when my stylist, Jessica, switched salons. When you find a great stylist, you'll go anywhere and this is the 3rd salon where I've come to see Jessica! First, this salon is just what you want in a salon - clean, relaxing, kinda cool and trendy (they have pink flamingo wallpaper in the bathroom, I mean c'mon!). The staff are always super friendly and I've always been taken right on time. They also have plenty of current magazines and a cute candy bar, too. Jessica is wonderful! I have a head full of curls that can either poof out and drive me nuts or weigh me down and make me feel gross. She's awesome with curly hair and I always end up feeling lighter and prettier when I leave. She also does my color and we've done highlights, single process, redish, blonder, etc. Basically, I don't keep it the same every time, but I always leave still looking and feeling like the best version of myself. I drive from Waltham to Somerville to come here but it's worth it. Parking has never been a problem. Street parking is easy with the app (I leave a little extra time for parking). They remind you about it in their great reminder emails and/or text messages. Bonus: It's right across the street from Lyndell's - one of the oldest, charming bakeries in the area! read more

OMG - this has NEVER happened to me... I always bring pictures into a salon and leave looking nothing like the picture, even when the stylists say, "yeah, yeah, I can totally do that." Today, it actually happened. I showed Keri a few cuts and colors on my phone, and I left with my hair looking BETTER than those pictures. I came in with dry, lifeless, just below the shoulder all-one-layer, dark brown hair. I left with exactly what I asked for - a shaggy lob with messy layers and beautiful, subtle caramel highlights. In addition to being a genius with color and scissors, Keri is really kind. She asked me about myself and she was sweet and encouraging about my job search. She also told me I could come in anytime and we could experiment with different products so that I could try to make my hair look decent when I'm on my own. The salon itself is immaculate and understatedly stylish. The holiday decorations are subtle and beautiful. The Keurig and jars of skittles and M&Ms aren't too bad, either. The price was pretty reasonable considering what I had done. The only thing I am a slightly sad about is that the curls she made with the wand only held for a few hours. Horrible, horrible experience. Overcharged me and ruined my hair. I was blond, and came in asking for highlights/foils, and instead they decided to do 'color correction'. Except, after 4+ hours in the salon my hair now looks gray, with silvery gray streaks in the front and warm chestnut in the back. It looks horrible. I cried when I saw it, and I have no idea how it could be fixed now without totally frying my hair or going much darker to cover up the gray/light gray/chestnut combo. Totally sucks. They offered to 'fix' it, which happened the following day. The stylist just decided to put in additional foils without telling me how much time it would take, or how much she'd charge me for it. I told her I only had 1.5 hours for the appointment as I had an interview that same day, and that I can come at another time - but no, she assured me she'd be finished. She wasn't. I ended up running out of the place with dripping wet hair in freezing snow, 20 minutes late to my interview. Because I was in rush, I just gave her my card - she didn't give me a receipt. My hair still looks awful (less awful than the first time, but still completely not what I wanted), I got sick from running around with wet hair in the snow, and I paid $180 for god knows what. Don't use this place, worst experience ever. read more

Very belated but well-deserved review of Lindsay Griffin! I booked her to do mine and my bridesmaid's hair for my October 2013 wedding. I can honestly say I could not have been more happy with my hair. My hair is kind of my "thing", and not just any old prom-esque updo was going to work. In fact, I didn't even want an updo. I didn't know what I wanted, but together we figured it out. If you want something outside the realm of the tight, cookie cutter updo, she is your girl. She was a genius with the extensions I bought to add length, no one knew I had them in. Not even my husband, until he had to help me figure out how it get the damn things out at 1am. On top of being talented, she was an absolute pleasure or work with, even squeezing in an updo at the last minute for my junior bridesmaid, who I had somehow forgotten to figure into my count! After learning that Jessica's strength is cutting curly hair I booked an appointment with her. Finding Jessica has been the BEST Yelp find I have ever experienced! I go to Sheila who always does the best job with my blonde hair and keeping it from going brassy. I was so happy with what Susan did for me at my first appointment here. I will definitely be back. I've gotten used to showing other hairdressers a photo of what I want my hair to look like and never getting what I ask for. What has always bothered me the most is having my hair blow-dried straight at the end, because I never wear my hair that way and the photos of the cuts I like never have that look in them. Susan knew exactly what she was doing and she talked with me through all my questions and ideas, and at the end she blow dried my hair in a messy wavy style just like I had hoped! I really hate to leave a negative review but this was not a peak cut and color experience. My stylist asked if I would be comfortable waiting with my hair in the sink while my color processed, but didn't explain that it would take an hour. I've never had anyone do that before. Then when she was drying my hair, my hair got caught in her blow dryer which again has never happened. The color is fine, the cut is fine, but this was not a $240 cut and color for the overall experience. read more

Lindsay is the best colorist in Boston, hands down, and probably the best colorist I've found anywhere (including New York, LA, and Paris). My hair is very difficult--curly, but with different textures throughout--and she's the only colorist who's managed to handle it (and see it through various color changes, without damage). She's also a warm, hilarious, kind, intelligent person and it's a pleasure to spend a few hours with her. The salon itself if calm and beautiful and perfect! Where to begin? I absolutely love this place. I'll start with my #1, Keri! Keri handles my outrageously thick unmanageable hair like no one else. She has transformed my blonde and her attention to detail with my foils keeps me looking great between color. She is a perfectionist which means I always look great when she does my hair- and she is such a delight to spend time with while you're at the salon. She's a dream, and I can't say enough good things about her. Highly recommend for cut, foils, anything. The rest of the staff that I have met and interacted with are great. In particular, Dana is sweet, kind and so attentive. This deserves and merits a separate review which I will definitely write, but in addition: Lindsay did my hair for my wedding and she was divine- calming, professional, a wizard with my hair and the many different textures/lengths/styles of my bridesmaids' hair. I was in town for an event and booked an appointment for a blowout with their assistant Allyson. The salon is very cute and modern and the staff is very friendly. Allyson was so sweet and was happy to do whatever I wanted. In my experience a lot of salons will charge extra or don't have time for anything beyond a very standard blowout. But Allyson gave me awesome loose curls and spent lots of time making sure it was perfect! Their prices are super reasonable. I will definitely come back next time I'm in town! read more
