After reading other reviews posted online about this spa, I have to agree--the massages really ARE good. I'm weighing in on their physical set-up however. While the massages are good, their rooms could use an upgrade--specifically I find the tables super uncomfortable! They are hard, the sheets are not tucked in anywhere so they move with you as you turn over, leaving my body stuck directly on the table itself--not comfortable. There is also no head rest, just an opening in the table where I find it difficult to get comfortable. With an upgrade to the rooms and tables more specifically, this place would be amazing. read more

Went for a 60 min massage. I had Sara who did an amazing job. Told her I was a nurse and have been wanting a massage focused on my lower back. She hit every knot and made sure to knead them out. She also made sure to check in on pressure as I told her to go hard which made me very comfortable. I almost fell asleep a few times I was so relaxed. If you need a really deep massage, because you have back pain or just don't get the point of massages, La Moon's Thai massage is a game changer. It's a "get all up in there" kind of massage, completely with hands, elbows, and even feet (yes they stand on your back) working out every knot. I used to go there years ago and popped in during a brief trip back to Boston. It didn't disappoint! Online scheduling was easy, the experience start to finish is efficient, and you get a bottle of water after. My only complaint is how they approach asking you for a tip after you pay. They will call you out for all to hear if they don't think it's high enough. I understand everyone's struggling, but for that, I docked a star. Adding stress after a massage is a no-no. read more

My go-to is the traditional combo thai massage which includes deep tissue massage as well as thai techniques which includes great stretching and pressure point therapy. I have chronic upper back/neck issues that have been exacerbated by a not-so-ergonomic WFH setup. I booked a 90 minute signature massage online and was called the day before to confirm my appointment. The evening of the appointment, I was able to park in one of the two spaces parallel to the building and walked in to be greeted by a friendly face. She immediately gave me booties to wear over my shoes, mentioned that I will be required to keep my mask on at all times, checked my temp, and sanitized my hands before handing me paperwork to fill out. At my appointment time, I was led to a serene room (pictured) and had one of the best massages of my life. I prefer a lot of pressure, and it was the perfect amount of pressure for me. However, the masseuse, Lindsey, constantly checked in with me to see how I was feeling. She also wore a mask and gloves the whole time. By the end of it, my whole body felt like I was on a cloud. I would give this spot a 10/10 for their friendly/knowledgeable employees, ambiance and Covid precautions. It's been less than 24 hours and I'm already looking forward to going back! read more

I have been going to La Moon Thai Spa since 2016, and I haven't ever thought of writing a review. I will say that I have been to many other massage places in the area, but have stuck to La Moon Thai spa as my go to place. I usually get a deep tissue Thai massage here. Most of the massage practitioners have done really well in relieving my tightness and I feel great after getting a nice deep tissue massage. Here are some things to consider: 1- You do get a significant discount if you pay in cash versus a card, so I always pay in cash. 2- The massage therapist can adjust their pressure based on what you tell them. I usually like a lot of pressure on my back, shoulders, but low pressure on my thighs. Communication is key. 3- It is normal to feel a little "tight" but make sure you relax. The more relaxed you are, the better the massage is going to be. 4- I recommend trying a 60 minute massage to begin with, and if you like it, go for 90 or 120 minute massages in future. That's how I went about it, and now I usually always get 90-120 min massages. Totally recommend this place. read more

My expectations were very high coming in with all these reviews but it definitely wasn't the best Thai massage I've had. It wasn't bad. I said my major pain area was neck and shoulders. The session was very much leg heavy and neck/shoulder light so I walked out not feeling loosened. The masseuse also didn't have the best accuracy and wasn't positioned correctly at times. However, the place is very clean with great ambience. The location is pretty far from a T stop. You'd need to take another bus if coming from Harvard Square. Price in cash is $75, $85 card, a bit overpriced coming from someone who frequented Thai massages in SF. read more

When I first walked in I was greeted by very kind Thai women who offered me sandals to change into and a form to fill out about my problem areas and the type of pressure I'd like to receive during my massage. I'm an international flight attendant (so sorry adorable Thai women, I probably looked homeless waltzing in this evening, but I promise I'm just jet lagged). I mention this because I've gotten massages all over the country and the world. In fact, I kind of make it my goal to find the best massage where ever I go. I've had massages in Shang Hai and Hong Kong, and I once got such an authentic Thai massage in Singapore, they literally had a squat toilet for a restroom. So imagine my surprise to find the best massage is in my own backyard in Boston where I live! Nothing compares to the magic this woman did on my back! I know it's a great sign when they want you to fill out a form in the waiting room because to me that shows they care and this massage therapist CARED! She referenced my form and noticed I had indicated that I had chronic back and neck pain and she told me she'd focus the majority of the session focusing on those areas if I wanted. She walked on my back, dug her heels into stubborn knots, used hot stones, her hands, fingers, everything to make sure these knots were coming out. Not once did she ever stop checking in to make sure that I was comfortable, if the pressure was okay, or if the stones were the right temperature. I have "maskne " from wearing a mask all day! A hydrafacial was recommended for me, it's deep cleaning and hydrating for my skin. I was very happy with the results as my skin was glowing after the treatment. Everything is just as clean if not more than how it was pre- COVID. Everyone working there had mask on. My aesthetician wore mask, face shield and gloves for the facial. I felt totally safe there. I do appreciate that they took sanitation seriously. Amazing! My first visit here (so far, there will be more!) was with Kim, for the 60-min La Moon Thai special. I've never had a Thai massage before and it's my new favorite thing. My neck and upper back felt like I was a crickety dinosaur before the session, and incredibly loose afterwards. I literally felt like I had more energy to go outside and go hiking, instead of what I felt like doing beforehand (which was laying on my couch all day). Highly recommend. $75 if you pay in cash, $85 if credit card. They also have two dedicated parking spots off-street. The location was very clean. This is a wonderful place to get a massage. It was much different then i have experienced before, in a good way. Emily, was great to listen to me and gave me the perfect pressure I needed. She found my knots and really worked to get them out. The ambiance was very relaxing, the music was nice not distracting, can't go wrong with the piano. Honestly one of the worst waxing experiences I've ever had. Jane is unprofessional and inexperienced, she kept using soft wax for the Brazilian--NOT ONE SINGLE PROFESSIONAL in my life had ever used soft wax for a Brazilian, given the delicate area. I had to insist a lot in order for her to use hard wax, didn't even listen to me in the beginning. She completely ignored my "no"s and even said "the pain is going to be the same with the hard wax"--blatant LIE, as hard wax does not stick to the skin and reduces irritation. I've waxed for over 10 years, I know the difference between hard wax and soft wax. There is a reason why usually soft wax is cheaper (not in this place, where the price is the same) and, in serious and professional studios, it is NEVER used for genital areas. But what I know, especially, is the importance of CONSENT. If your client is saying they want hard wax because they have sensitive skin and it's literally a wax ON THEIR GENITALS, you need to respect that. I regret every single dollar ($55) I spent here, what a scam. Edit: I just got home and noticed she tore some skin on the labia too. And yes, IT HURTS. Unbelievable. Edit after their Google reply: If your client is explicitly asking for something, because they know their skin type better than you do, and know the reactions and feelings they get from a kind of wax, YOU NEED TO RESPECT THAT. Consent is essential. If I say 'no', you can't keep doing what you do just because that's your "successful" method. Also, I was expecting another call from you regarding a "fix" to this situation, but of course you disappeared because the only "fix" would be a refund. My health is more important than my money. My "fix" is to never step foot there again. read more

La Moon used to be my favorite place for massage. But now it's mediocre. The past few times I went there I have been proven that O shouldn't go there anymore. The staff don't listen. I told the masseuse I have tension on my feet and hands but she didn't even touch them and focused on a completely different thing. The massages are rushed and not as good as it used to be. It became unbearable pretty quickly, and even after leaving, my hair, clothing, and general being still smelled like that icky laundry smell. This made it really hard for me to relax throughout the massage, or breathe deeply, which is essential to muscle relaxation. For the scent sensitive, I would not recommend spending 60 or 90 mins here. If you enjoy thai-style massage, don't mind room fragrances or scent trees, then you'd probably have a great experience here. For anyone who's looking for essential oils and avoids chemical fragrances, you're probably not going to enjoy this place. read more
