Quality massage! The heated bed was very nice, my private room was clean and comfortable. I booked…read moreon the phone which was through an automated system. Then they sent me a text message with a very thorough questionnaire to fill out (asked questions like areas to avoid, areas to emphasize, purpose of massage, amount I exercise, amount of preferred pressure, etc). My masseuse spoke a little English, mostly Mandarin. We happened to chat for most of the session which was unusual for me but very fun, though I can see how language barrier could be an issue for some people (I do think this problem is essentially solved by the in-depth questionnaire answered beforehand). They also gave me a water bottle after! I used an e-gift card that was sent to me which was easy enough. I withdrew cash from their ATM for the tip and it said they don't charge a service fee but I did end up being charged $3 unfortunately.

Negative-The massage overall felt harsh and hurried and the room was chilly. She was not consistent and I could not fully relax. The scalp massage was hard and overdone. I had a headache after which I know is common with massages but the pressure was excessive. I had to tell her to lighten up a couple times. The directions were not clear with what to do during transitions. Positive- warmed eyemask during scalp massage, asked several times if we were okay, and water was warm and comfortable. A couple improvements- slow down during massaging, use a diffuser or scent in the room, warming blanket or bed, try different techniques with scalp and not so hard on the scalp, learn how to give a classic blow out after scalp massage.

I booked a single service in advance but was put in a couple's room with a stranger because all the single rooms were booked. The masseuses held up towels for us to undress in the room together which was uncomfortable and unprofessional. 2. When paying, I tried to leave a 10% tip, considering I had a less than ideal experience in the room. The worker then had the audacity to ask me to reconsider and leave a 20% tip. Regardless of the quality of the service, asking a customer to tip more is unprofessional.

From the moment the session begins, it's clear she is both knowledgeable and intentional in her technique--balancing therapeutic depth with relaxation. If you're looking for someone who is professional, intuitive, and genuinely excellent at what she does, I can't recommend Kate highly enough.

I really enjoyed my massage. Kate is definitely a very talented massage therapist and her work on…read moremy shoulders and back was especially amazing. She also responded to my emails very quickly and was able to book an appointment for me much sooner than I had expected. Her office is in some sort of office suite in an apartment complex which made it rather difficult to locate from the street. Also, you have to be buzzed in to enter the suite. It appears that the professionals in the suite do not employ a receptionist (there is no front desk) and that they just buzz in clients in between their appointments. I thought this was rather inconvenient because I arrived about 20 minutes early and had to wait outside in the rain because no one responded to my buzz (I assume Kate was with another client). I would definitely give Kate five stars on the massage, but I am not sure I'd return because of the office set up. I'd prefer to go to a spa or someplace with a reception area where I can relax a bit before the massage.

Decor: 4/5 Quality of massage: 2/5…read moreSense of relaxation: 1/5 When you walk in, the chic bohemian decor is inviting. However, the massage is where this place falls apart. The spa doesn't have separate rooms, rather it's one massive hall, separated by cloth curtains. Which means you can hear EVERYTHING!! You hear the opening of packages, the bathroom, the customer next to you saying "oh my god yea", the staff walking back n forth, the tap running in their kitchen... everything!!! To make this worse, the massage itself was terrible. They placed a towel on my back and massaged me over the towel in an elbow 'poking' manner rather than a normal kneading style. I left the spa feeling rather bruised than relaxed. This was the second time I've had a terrible experience at Nomad - will definitely not be returning.
