Kate is an exceptionally skilled massage therapist who truly understands the body and how to tailor each session to her client's needs. From the moment the session begins, it's clear she is both knowledgeable and intentional in her technique--balancing therapeutic depth with relaxation. She listens carefully, checks in appropriately, and consistently targets problem areas with precision and care. I always leave feeling noticeably better, both physically and mentally. If you're looking for someone who is professional, intuitive, and genuinely excellent at what she does, I can't recommend Kate highly enough. read more

I really enjoyed my massage. Kate is definitely a very talented massage therapist and her work on my shoulders and back was especially amazing. She also responded to my emails very quickly and was able to book an appointment for me much sooner than I had expected. Her office is in some sort of office suite in an apartment complex which made it rather difficult to locate from the street. Also, you have to be buzzed in to enter the suite. It appears that the professionals in the suite do not employ a receptionist (there is no front desk) and that they just buzz in clients in between their appointments. I thought this was rather inconvenient because I arrived about 20 minutes early and had to wait outside in the rain because no one responded to my buzz (I assume Kate was with another client). I would definitely give Kate five stars on the massage, but I am not sure I'd return because of the office set up. I'd prefer to go to a spa or someplace with a reception area where I can relax a bit before the massage. read more

I was gifted a massage, and it was just fantastic, highly recommend.

I had an amazing experience with Kate. Came in with the back pain and immediately felt better after the treatment. She is very professional and attentive. The office is very clean and respectful to Covid-19 guidelines. I would definitely recommend Kate to anyone who is looking for a great massage. read more

Kate Garms is a one of a kind massage therapist! Beyond intuitive, highly skilled, and possessing the kindest heart I know, Kate is a massage therapist who leaves the rest in the dust. It's rare to meet a massage therapist who can address musculoskeletal issues so effectively while still being present and tuned into her patient so well. I highly recommend her to any and all of my patients. As a chiropractor who has worked in three countries, and a bit of a massage addict, trust me when I say that Kate is in a class of her own. Her rates are reasonable and her office a peaceful delight. Please enjoy! Dr. Lisa Geiger read more

I consider myself a connoisseur of massage. Not a snob, mind you; I'm happy to pay my children to walk on my back when things get too tight. Kate brings an intuitive skill to her work; she can find tension and knots within seconds of laying on her hands; she then gently but effectively releases these with hands that feel angelic. I know, I'm waxing rhapsodic. But she is that good. I can't recommend her enough. read more

After sustaining a whiplash injury and going through over a year of physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, biofeedback, home exercises, and pain management clinics, I came to Kate. Her massages have honestly been the only thing that have relieved my pain. Her rates are a bit higher than chain or group massage practices, but, as a poor grad student-- trust me, it is completely worth the investment!! Kate is incredibly calm, professional, consistent. I really can't speak highly enough of her. She is fantastic, and the way in which she will massage you will amaze you. She is able to follow the ligaments with the tips of her fingers to the source of the pain and either massage it gently or use trigger point techniques to relieve the pain and/or tension. I love the lavender oil that she uses. It leaves a nice smell for the rest of the day. You can also ask for an unscented oil. The bed she has is very warm (it warms up as time goes on-- a nice touch!), and the music is varied-- from yoga-ish chants to Enya to classical. Kate's practice seems to have grown tremendously the last few months, so her schedule is tight, which I would say is the only downside. If you have a busy schedule like mine, it can be difficult to book a weekly appointment with her (if you need it for theraputic purposes). However, Kate is more than willing to try to book weekly appointments in advance or call you if there are cancellations. Bottom line: she is the best masseuse in Boston. Period. Truly a hidden gem. read more

I love my massage sessions with Kate. She is a lovely person and a fantastic massage therapist who intuitively listens to her clients' bodies and is also grounded in excellent technique. Kate facilitates and holds a space that allows me to relax and become more present. I always leave my sessions with her feeling reconnected with myself, more balanced and a greater sense of inner peace. I recommend Kate warmly and wholeheartedly! read more

Kate is AMAZING! Her rates are completely reasonable and she's hands down the best massage therapist I've ever had. I live in LA now and I totally miss her! I found her at my old gym Healthworks and followed her as she opened her own practice. She's very professional and friendly and creates a lovely environment in her office. And she's super strong! Holy cow - incredibly skilled and totally worth the drive from Cambridge every time I went! If you want to treat yourself right in the new year, definitely go to Kate! She also does deep tissue injury therapy and pre-natal massage. read more

I have known kate for about 3 years now and she is one of the best massage therapists I have ever been to. She has a great touch and very good at what she does. Kate just gave me the very best massage I have ever had in my life. I actually fell asleep.l, this has never ever happened before. She focused on my problem areas and the two problem areas feel so very much better. Wish I could afford to see her weekly! read more

I have been seeing Kate regularly throughout my pregnancy and it has been absolutely amazing! I would recommend to any woman expecting that it is 100% worth the splurge! She is a certified pre-natal therapist and it is very obvious she knows what areas to target. I had tried a few other massage places for a pre-natal massage, but it was obvious they didn't specialize in this service. Every time I leave I feel so relaxed and that my body has been "reset" without all the aches/tension of the extra pregnancy weight. read more

WOW! My friend gifted me a massage with Kate and while I don't get massages often, I may have to start doing it more regularly with Kate. Kate asked if there were any problem areas and I gave a vague description of where I feel pain. She INSTANTLY found my source of aches and worked on it. It was a deep tissue massage and while there was a little pain, the relief felt after was worth it. Highly recommend coming here! read more

She is so good. I hold a lot of my tension in my shoulders, so much that I feel like my arms don't hang well off of my shoulders; there's always a lot of clicking/crunching when I move my arms. I've only been to Kate twice, but both times she was able to get my knots out without using too much pressure and afterwards there was no clicking and my neck and shoulders feel so free!! I've had many massages in my life and I honestly don't know how she does it - I really can't tell what she's doing - but it's totally effective. read more

Absolutely EXCELLENT. Helped so much with my back that told my wife about it and she's now a regular with Kate. Kate is very flexible with her scheduling and extremely gifted. I'm a regular as well and look forward to a great massage from Kate on a consistent basis. read more

Kate Garms is a very intuitive massage therapist. You can feel her concentrate as she starts the massage. Feeling through her fingers where your knots are, where the tension build-up is in your body. Very good experience. Left feeling relaxed and refreshed. Felt looser in places where I usually tense up. Worth an appointment! read more

I injured my back from a bike fall a while ago and was in a lot of pain. Kate helped a lot - she feels where the muscle is injured and her therapy is targeted. She is very knowledgeable. After my initial appointment I returned several times and now go for a massage every couple of months. Parking is on Beacon street. read more

since my last review, I've retuned back for my own prenatal massages! Kate is certified prenatal massage therapist and wonderful! in my third trimester, I thought some of the soreness or stiffness in the pelvic area was something one just puts up with, but she got them all out!! What a treat to have her as part of your prenatal care team! read more

Kate is simply terrific. She is kind, reliable and easy to talk with about what you need, and she has an amazing knowledge of technique and anatomy that she puts to use to relieve the pains I've had. I recently had nasty neck spasms a week before a multiday rafting/camping trip where I had to paddle for hours each day. After two visits with Kate I was 100% in shape for the trip. It was truly amazing. Over the past three years she has done wonders with all sorts of aches, pains, and general stiffness. I can't recommend her more highly. Book an appointment now! read more

Kate is a truly gifted massage therapist. Kate is very skilled, a master of her craft. She asks where you want to her to focus, but then she finds knots you didn't even know you had and works them out. Her studio is calming and clean. Note that the exterior of her building looks more like an apartment complex than a professional building. There is plenty of metered parking and it's right on the Green C line- between Hawes and Kent. read more

I have been a client of Kate Garms for several years. From the moment you step into her comfortable office, decorated in soothing color tones, you know you will be in the practiced hands of someone who pays attention to every detail. She takes an individual approach to her work, listening with care each time you arrive, then delivering what you need with skillful hands. Whether she is deftly soothing the tension stored in my muscles or she is helping my body heal from injury, Kate is an expert at the art and science of massage. read more

It's true that Kate is the best! It's true that she "sees" with her fingers. And, she is the dearest, sweetest, most loving person as she looks straight at you, welcoming you to her calm, soft green haven. I discovered her years ago when I was crippled and paralyzed from compromised liver/kidney (brought on by 10-20 years exposure to stress and pollution ~ who doesn't have that?). It was a serious condition: I could barely dress myself and it was excruciatingly painful to roll over in bed. Along with homeopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic, Kate came through with deep tissue massage (lots of appointments at the beginning gradually tapering off to once a month maintenance) that saved the day and flushed out the muscles where all those toxins were being stored. We didn't know if we were going to get through that one, none of us. But, Kate is a miracle worker. So, for serious medical conditions to just the joy of a massage, hats off to Kate. There is no doubt that she is the best. Underpriced, in my opinion! Book right away. read more

I needed a good, local massage therapist and my daughter found Kate through her very positive Yelp reviews! I go to Kate every month as I have had two spinal fusions and have found that she helps relieve some of the pain I still have. Kate has a very nice and calm approach and her technique is amazing! She knows just exactly where the problem area is and she can work the pain out! While I will admit, that it hurts a bit at times, it has all been very beneficial to me. Kate takes away so much pain. I know that when a particularly problematic area pops up, before my next monthly appointment, that I can try to get an additional appointment with her to relieve the pain. That alone, brings me great comfort. She is very busy (because she is that good!) but really willing to work with your schedule. I am very grateful that Kate is a part of my "medical team"!! Thank goodness for Kate!! read more
