I've been here twice and gotten 2 different services, the 60 mins Asian Body Works (Tuina) with Hot Stones and the 60 mins Foot Reflexology with Asian Body Works. The massage has always been very good and reception is very nice. Both times I have used a Groupon and booked an appointment for the same or next day (once I called because I was close by and they got me in for an appointment 10 mins later). Maybe it's because I go on weekdays, but they seem to have lots of availability. The massage is always very thorough and my body feels excellent after. They tend to use firm pressure -- I don't mind some pain during my massage but you can ask them to be lighter. Language barrier can be an issue so you may want to let reception know before you go in for the massage. The 60 mins Asian Body Works (Tuina) with Hot Stones was full body including scalp and face but not feet and you removed your clothes. The 60 mins Foot Reflexology with Asian Body Works included a foot soak, focused on feet and legs, and you kept your clothes on for the body works massage. I preferred the body works with hot stones from masseuse David, who asked multiple time if the pressure was good and it really felt amazing! If you care more about the foot massage and less about the body, then I would opt for the foot reflexology (the massage I had was fantastic as well). The space is clean, beds are very comfortable, and ambiance is nice. The different massage areas are divided by screens rather individual rooms separated by walls. I don't mind this, but I can see how some would not prefer it. When I went for the foot reflexology, I was in a shared room with a stranger -- this was fine for me because you do not remove your clothes for this service. I found it a little weird initially but did not care during the actual massage; again, I can see how some people may not enjoy this setup. Overall, Nomad offers very high quality massage at a reasonable price point, not overly extravagant. I will definitely go back regularly! read more

We have heard so many good things about Nomad foot spa before we finally made our first visit today. The place is super clean, quiet and cute and the front desk is super nice and she makes great recommendations. We need to change into clean slippers upon arrival before we can enter the treatment area. We had one hour foot massage, including scalp, arms, aroma foot soak, hot stone(yes hot stone!! Yay) , and with the finale of back massage! The massage therapists were so wonderful and friendly, makes us so grateful for the service and care they provide. This is one of many businesses offer wonderful service to be part of the reason why Brookline is nominated as No. 1 place to live in the US. We plan to come back at least once per month to support this honest and hard working business in the future. read more

I have had 2 other previous visits to Nomad, loved every minute of it! I visited the Newton salon. Lincoln St However, my visit yesterday was abysmal. The massage was ok. The receptionist was a EXTREMELY RUDE!!! I entered the spa (smiling) ,she looked up, then looked down. I said Hello,no response. Repeated myself to which she responded "I'll be with you in a minute ". I kept trying to ask her about add-ons. And she pretended she had no idea what I was asking. I asked for aromatherapy add-on, it took me 3 tries to get her to acknowledge it. And of course....no aromatherapy during my massage. Very disappointed. read more

" Nightmare @ Front Desk" I was a walk in at this SPA . The front desk staff a woman named Isabella wasn't the friendliest . I was able to get a full hour massage . It was excellent. When I went to pay . I stepped out; of massage area to ask if I can add a scalp massage . She told me because I stepped out of the massage area , I couldn't . I then asked what time they close. She said " 9pm " it was "6" pm. I said ok I understand. I don't mind paying for the scalp massage full price . She said " no " I can't because I steeped out of the massage area. She was rude about it as well. I then asked how much was the massage. I just got so I can pay . It was $69.00 . I then asked, if she could , give the "$30.00 " tip to massage human, because he was excellent . She told me to lower my voice. I understand massages are in session . This is a review for Newton location. Décor/ambiance: it has a very calm and serene decor. Very boho, chill vibes and smelled really nice. Massage rooms: again, minimally decorated. smelled good, comfy beds. no issue. service: got a 30min reflexology, 30 min asian massage and 10 min scalp treatment. Scalp treatment: it was pretty good! good pressure, got some of the neck as well. Would have wanted a bit more massage on the middle of head foot treatment: I was dozing, thats how nice it felt to get your feet and calves massaged. I will say my tech had a bit too much pressure on my shins and i wished he focused more on the muscles on the outer portion of my shins body massage: This was pretty good too. It's done dry so theres more of a "hold and squeeze" action vs rubbing (if that makes sense) and i enjoyed it. Got all the major muscle on my back, glutes, hamstrings and calves. I do wish they would not do the "drum" thing on your back at the end. the guy got close to my neck and I felt my head hurting from the vibrations. Overall, i liked it and will go back. We have been coming here for over a year . The last few months things have been on the decline, several of the staff have left. Today they no longer had the slippers, and we found out after checking in the mausuesses we were expecting were not available. Extremely disappointing. First, they put you in a "room" separated by rice paper from another room. No privacy of any kind. The room was cold and the the therapist put a thick towel over me and proceeded with the most mediocre massage I have ever experienced. Plenty of other options. She really got allll up in there--I almost felt like she should have bought me a drink first! Hahaha! If you like medium-to-hard pressure massages, this is the place for you! She got ev.er.y.thing--my neck, my back, my head and my upper glutes and arms and hands and feet and thighs and soul. There were some gentle stretches that really hit the spot. I wish I could show you all the silly faces of ecstasy I was making the entire time. I knew within the first 2 minutes I had found my forever massage place. She works hard to get the knots out with lightweight oil, her hands, fingers and her forearm. I feel like a brand new person now, I had to run tell y'all about it the second I got home. For $69, you get a 1 hr massage that includes body + foot massage + hot stones + hot towel massage. I do not recommend this place. Worst massage ever! The receptionist is slow and does not really recognize your presence. The masseuse is terrible. All she did was to held my feet or parts of my body super tight without intention. It was not a massage at all. The masseuse fell asleep during the massage session and I had to move my feet here and there to "wake" her up. I had to repeatedly tell her to dial down her pressing because they hurt me. The massage was very nice, but I had asked for 30 minutes for my feet and 10 for my scalp, and I got the standard hour instead. I asked more than three times before I went into the room for the 30 minutes for my feet and the scalp treatment. When I got out, I was willing to pay the extra $20 to have my head done and I was told that it was too late. I needed to ask before I went into the room and I pointed out that I did three times. They were still unable to offer me the scalp massage. I was willing to wait. Because it was my birthday and I have a tension headache so I would've really enjoyed getting what I asked for. Disclaimer: I can only speak on my experience with the weekly special for 49/hr which includes a head/face massage, feet/calves, arms/hand, and shoulders/back. A little bit of everything. I did not try any other service so I don't know what was offered in the others. Upon arriving, you check in at the front. There are signs that says tip in cash only and a list of gratuity % ( see photos). You take off and leave your shoes up front in the waiting area. Oddly I wasn't asked to sign any waivers or questionnaires. Having been to many massage places, I thought it was odd I wasn't asked if I had any injuries. Once they are ready for you, you are taken to your massage space. The space is very clean and relaxing. You have a choice of a foot soak some of which includes: rose, eucalyptus, chamomile, lemongrass and a bunch of other herbs. The massage bed was quite uncomfortable. They have you lie down on the flat bed with your feet hanging over the edge of the short bed to soak as they start the massage. Eventually they take the soak out and add the extended piece of the bed so you can lie properly. I wasn't offered a robe to change into or take off my clothes. I was covered with a towel as a blanket but the towel wasn't warm. Usually you want to warm up the muscles before starting a massage but they just went right into it. Overall, the feet portion of the massage was really good. I wouldn't come here for other body parts. They are strong if you're into deep tissue but you can also tell the masseuse to be more gentle. Best Chinese reflexology place I've found in the Boston area. Massage therapists are all outstanding. I do sort of yearn for a more traditional social and bustling atmosphere of a typical Chinese foot massage place - where you go with a friend, monger eating snacks. Does not adhere to your requests! Compared to other foot massages I've had, this was a subpar experience for sure! I told the technician my needs and how to allocate the time between my hand and feet. Another employee even translated in her dominant language and the technician still did not execute. She even shortened me 6 minutes. The rooms do not have a closed door but a curtain so you can hear other people. My therapist didn't speak a word of English. I have a neck problem and she wanted to massage my neck when I signed up for a foot massage. She didn't understand any instructions and kept hurting me quite a bit. Wow. I'm sitting in my car right now fuming mad after what actually was a very good massage in the LOUDEST and MOST OBNOXIOUS environment ever. I have been coming here for years since they opened in like 2016. Even during covid when they were open and probably begging for customers. Affordable prices in a convenient location. It is now clear to me that management does not care about actually offering a positive experience. The way that this place is set up is that you do hear the noise of other people which is inevitable. It's basically a big open room with cloth barriers to separate clients. The chair massages which I actually prefer are done in the walkway area as you are fully clothed. This was my third or fourth chair massage and now it's going to be my last. At the top of the hour for a solid 15 minutes there was so much noise going on that there is no way that anybody could appreciate any sort of massage. People coming and going from the staff room. People coming and going from the bathroom. Masseuses dumping giant tubs of water into the sink. Talking to each other. Talking to clients. Brushing up against me while I'm in the middle of the massage. I brought this up to the manager and suggested that during busy times they do not have chair massages. I told him this was unacceptable to me. He told me that maybe I should consider being in one of the partitioned areas for a Bodyworks massage. I could not believe my ears. Maybe he was trying to help me problem solve? However he was missing the point. When you advertise a relaxing massage, you have to deliver. I emailed management so maybe someone will respond. But for now they don't give a rat's ass about quality. They just want to churn profit. A loyal customer no more. read more

If you need anything specific ie. harder on the head/neck, lighter on the lower back, tell the receptionist and she will translate accordingly. COVID update: People wear a mask at all times, which isn't entirely uncomfortable once you get used to it. The pros of getting massaged by Lucy definitely outweigh the cons. They wear a mask at all times and spray your hands with sanitizer afterward. Please be quiet in the waiting area! The walls are thin and you can hear the conversations as you are getting massaged. Excellent TaNui body Work! In town for a quick trip, and decided to check out Nomad for their Tulum ambience and reasonable pricing. Super cute decor, very serene and magical -- felt transported. Color scheme was whites and tans, clean and minimalistic. Billowy floor to ceiling drapes divided treatment rooms, and beautiful wall hangings throughout. Maybe I caught them at the end of a long day but my massage felt rushed, and my therapist did not speak English at all. Also beware that wearing a mask the entire time, it is hot, if lying on your stomach it is even hotter, and no one offered me water. I also couldn't smell the scent I chose for my feet soak, because of the mask. I feel like they zoned into my certain pressure points, but I never once was asked why I was there. The pressure can sometimes be intense and my therapist did not take the hint when I tried to tell her to lighten up. I feel there is potential but with a lot more customer care, I may return more frequently. It also was weird to leave my shoes at the door. read more

The location is great, easy to find decent parking around, cute deco. Prices are also decent. Main reasons for less than 5 stars: 1) you take off your shoes at the door - which is fine in it of itself, there is a seating area so you can do so easily but no slippers and other people's shoes are everywhere, it's not very organized so you step on other people's shoes. Another point about being shoe-less, it means you use the restroom (located at the end of the massage area) barefoot which is *really* gross. 2) they don't mop the floors but spray something on it which makes it damp and also a little gross to walk on. 3) for being 'natural' and 'organic' - which I'm not sure they understand what those words actually mean - they give you the smallest paper cup after your service and the garbage bin is over flowing with these tiny paper cups that are plastic lined so they aren't recyclable - talk about waste.... 4) another waste factor- they line the water tubs with plastic liners - which, I get, it's for sanitary reasons - but geez, waste much? Those clear plastic bags aren't exactly recyclable. 5) the water filling area is an open area next to the restroom and the water is really loud, not like a pleasant water running sound but like you're filling a tub/washing dishes sort of sound. Not exactly relaxing or peaceful. 6) the masseuses sometimes talk quite loud, again, not relaxing or serene. I feel like the marketing is all great but incredibly contradictory to actually being natural or the idea of organic. read more

I have to say that I have been coming here (Brookline) for at least 5 years on and off and I feel all of the technicians are kind and with a gentle demeanor. They are also knowledgeable on the muscular skeleton. The issue one may have is that it is very hard to communicate with them. Very limited English, so if you have needs or requests the receptionist prior to service is always helpful in translation. Oh one other thing that can be a little annoying is the detergent deodorizer they use... too strong. All in all thumbs up!!! read more

That said, I think my masseuse was nice and did deserve a tip, I just didn't like the way the front desk handled it Probably won't be back because the total cost is standard so neither the value nor quality stood out to me that much.
