I did not know what to expect. Was glad it was in my area have been tired of going Downton for a facial. The hours on Sunday are a godsend, since I work most of the week. Having Sundays is me time. The place was cleaned, warm and inviting. The person who answered the door forget her name. Very polite and ask if I wanted water or tea, and also showed me the bathroom. Relaxing music. Latoya did my facial explain my needs and what I was looking for. She listens tentatively and also explain what she was doing and also what she was using on my face. I will definitely go back tell my friends and clients. Will try next the deep tissue massage. read more

Latoya came to my office to give us 15 minute chair massages during a collaboration event. She was kind, professional, and the best part - gave a fantastic massage. She also was really able to set the mood for a relaxing session in a conference room! read more

Latoya is the BEST massage therapist I have ever been to. Latoya really works with you and listens to your needs. Latoya always asks how you are doing, what part of your body to focus on, and she works with your breathing while checking in with you throughout the entire massage to make sure you are not in pain, etc. Latoya is fantastic at chair massage and deep tissue! I have been seeing her for almost a year now and I do see a difference, especially in my shoulders. Latoya also does stretching that is really helpful for my arms and legs. Her location is super clean and the atmosphere is very quiet. The table is very comfortable, too. I wish I could give Latoya and Serenity Wellness Massage more than five stars, as Latoya is the absolute best and is an important asset to the Somerville community. read more

Latoya was wonderful. This was my first massage where I was looking for pain relief rather than just relaxation. Latoya certainly delivered. The office is in a nice building with a good amount of street parking. I really enjoyed my services and I will definitely be booking again. Highly recommend! read more

Latoya was great! She knew exactly which muscle groups to focus on during my 90 minute deep tissue massage. The ambiance was just right and I felt so relaxed that I even fell asleep briefly during the massage. Even after the session, she spent additional time sharing some wellness related advice. read more

I have ongoing back issues for over a decade, and my first session with Karen was the first time I have felt real relief in years! The environment is so peaceful, and they were so knowledgable I felt safe and relaxed in their expert hands! read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Easy parking, relaxing atmosphere, PERFECT massage. Latoya is so kind and helpful, both with body and mind. Can't say enough good things! read more

Latoya is great at what she does- it's a local massage place that she owns and operates. It's not a chain or franchise- and it totally fits the Cambridge / Somerville vibe. The location of the studio is at the top of 4 flights of stairs-- but the building is very old school cool so you don't really notice. My only complaint is that I have gone to sleep during my massage- and I've done it twice! This isn't really her fault, but perhaps my lack of sleep. read more

Latoya is an amazing massage therapist. At each visit, she makes sure to review any changes in my health and wellness since the last visit, and also inquires about any areas or issues I'd like to focus on in that session. She is warm and welcoming and has a manner that puts me at ease - combining this with Latoya's considerable education and experience in her field, she is an absolute gem for anyone who is looking for massage for relaxation or rejuvenation. read more

I can't believe it's taken me this long to review Serenity Wellness Massage. I've been coming here since I was a college student scrounging together what money I could for the occasional massage. I've been a repeat client for a good 7 or so years at this point. Latoya is hands down the best massage therapist I have ever encountered on earth and also shows great care for her clients. I won't go to anyone else. I've moved out of the city since I first started coming here, but it's worth the trip in for the excellent massage. I honestly think even if I moved out of state, I'd still come back here for massages. I have never encountered anyone else who can tackle my seriously knotted up neck and back. Seriously, do yourself (and your body) a favor and book an appointment today. read more

Serenity Wellness Massage was such a wonderful experience for me. Latoya was present and engaged throughout, and her energy and intention was so impactful. 10/10 will be back! read more

I always look forward to seeing Latoya every time I'm in Boston. I've seen many massage therapists over the years, but nobody compares to Latoya. She is very professional, caring, and does an amazing job. I always feel so much better after seeing her. I wish I lived closer so I could see her more often! read more

I found Latoya because her business is right around the corner from where I live. I hadn't had a massage in a while because: pandemic. Latoya quickly realized this was the case and made some quick triage calculations in order to get the most critical areas the attention they needed, while I went into the deep trance state that a good massage can put you into. A bonus at the end was a foot massage which was timely for the plantar fasciitis symptoms I'd been experiencing. I treasure having her studio in my neighborhood and I hope she continues there for a very long time. read more

Since I joined the workforce, I've been suffering from all kinds of aches and sores, a result from the combination of lots of computer work and weightlifting. At one point things got so bad, I was considering switching careers. I am incredibly grateful I found Latoya at that moment. I've seen many massage therapists over the years, but she stands out. She's very attentive, listens carefully to the client's problems and always tailors the session to their needs. She really knows her stuff - after a few sessions, I was already feeling much better and was able to get back to work. She also gave me great tips on herbs and supplements to try out. I always feel profoundly relaxed after seeing her. Now I religiously get a massage from her once a month. She's also just a great person to talk to. I cannot recommend her highly enough! read more

I had long been trying to find a massage therapist I could be loyal to but couldn't find the right fit. I made an appointment when I had pain radiating from my shoulder. After an x-ray, I learned it was just muscles and nerves. Latoya was amazing!! Professional, warm, and welcoming. She offered me tea and first we sat and talked about what I was hoping to get out of my massage therapy. I loved that. Her space is calm and inviting. She uses essential oils for aromatherapy. And she WORKED!! Wow. It was so good. I immediately asked about her monthly package and loyalty options after- because I'll never go anywhere else now! read more

After 3 days of painful shoulder/neck pain due to poor posture while breastfeeding, I realized I needed to take more drastic measures than using a heat pad and hoping it would disappear. That's where Latoya came in. She was able to fit me in at the last minute, which I really appreciated. After listening to my concerns and explaining how she could help, she got to work fixing me up. I've had many massages over in my life, but this may very well have been the best one. Seriously, she's that good! She was able to work out a lot of knots I've had building up from the toll breastfeeding and childbirth takes on your body. And even worked out some knots in my lower back I didn't know existed! She was a total godsend during a difficult time for me and I felt like a new woman leaving her office. I highly recommend her for all your massage needs and will definitely be back! read more

I've gone to Latoya for massages about 1x/ month for the past 6 months or so. The massages I get form Latoya are unlike all other massages I've ever received, and I have received many massages in my life. Latoya isn't just a massage therapist; she is a healer. There are definite, tangible results to getting a massage from her. I've gone in with leg pain, back pain, etc. No matter what, she helps resolve the issue. Aside from the medical benefits, Latoya is a pleasure to be around. She is caring, intuitive and personable. She treats her clients with the utmost care. She will never rush anyone through an appointment, and she will make time for you if you're in need. For example, the first time I ever saw her I'd had a headache for days from neck pain. I called her number on a whim, and she fit me for a neck and shoulder massage. She didn't even know me at that point, so she definitely and understandably could've let me know she was too busy, but she took me the same day. She also let me know about an herbal alternative to help until my appointment time. She helped infinitely. I continue to refer all my friends to her. Hopefully, they take my advice! read more

I booked the 2 hour signature massage with Latoya for my birthday and I was not disappointed! The space is beautiful and relaxing, and the massage was amazing. She also took the time to chat with me after about what she noticed during the massage which made me feel taken care of. I will definitely be coming back and recommend Latoya to anyone looking for a great experience! read more

I had never gotten a massage before and thought of it as too much of an indulgence but after having a sore back for some time and being unable to stretch it out on my own at the gym, I bought the deal yelp had going for Serenity and booked an appointment. I thought I would just be lying down on a table and having someone kneed my back and it would feel a bit better, but the appointment was so much more than that. It really was mental and physical therapy. Not only did my back feel better afterward but I felt more deeply relaxed for the next week than I had in months. Latoya is a true holistic wellness professional who asked me about my medical history and recommended other resources for me to look into as well. Highly recommend! read more

I just had my first massage with Latoya and it was beyond words! I've had many massages and I'm frequently left disappointed... I want more attention to different areas, or I want it harder. Latoya was attentive and I asked for her to use some muscle and she did!, but she didn't just use force... She used skill and art. She was so intuitive. And I felt like it was her mission to help me and my body! I've never had a massage like this.i seriously can not say enough. I can not wait to come back. read more

I've had one appointment with Latoya and it was far and away the best massage I've had in years. Latoya takes the time to ask you questions, really listens, and is terrific at explaining directly what she is doing and why. I had really significant relief from some more-on-than-off neck and upper back pain from our last visit, and Latoya had good, reasonable suggestions for ways to stave off things getting worse again. I haven't had the chance to try them all, yet, but what I've tried so far has definitely made a difference. I have another appointment scheduled and am really looking forward to it. Some massage therapists are a bit too clinical & sports-medicine oriented, and others can be wellness to the woo-th degree, but Latoya strikes the right balance of wellness that isn't weird and therapeutic intervention. Her office space is also really beautiful and comfortable. read more

Bossy, bitchy and unreliable Very unpleasant, bossy personality, will get bitchy if SHE makes a mistake and she doesn't succeed at making it a behaviour lesson for YOU. Oh, and if you want somebody to make you feel like you are crazy when you are pregnant, because you didn't know the "house rules", that nobody bothered to tell you, this is the place for you. The story: I had booked a pregnancy massage with Latoya and was really looking forward to it - being pregnant is great, but my back could use some relief. It was my first time here, and arrived all smiley and happy, looking forward to a little pampering time. It seems to be a place shared by several therapists. An unfriendly receptionist told me to go to the third floor when I wanted to sit down in the waiting room. So I lugged myself up there and waited, wondering if it was the right place, since there were no signs of any kind. The only thing I had to go by was my voucher, on which it said "suite 14", but there was no name on the door or any instructions. When it was the time for my appointment and nobody came, I dared a little knock on the door with the number 14, since I didn't know if there was an ante-room for me to wait or if she was waiting for me in there. Nobody answered, so I knocked again - this time the door opened, and instead of "hello" the therapist ROLLED her eyes at me, saying that she was WITH SOMEBODY, and I was SUPPOSED to wait in the SECOND floor. She then took out a sign, which said that she was in a session and clients, please wait on the second floor, hung it on her door, pointed at it and told me that that's what I was supposed to do. This sign would have been really helpful if it had been out. As it was, how could I have known? I was somewhat taken aback, but I did. About 10-15 min into my appointment, she showed up, didn't utter a word of apology, asked me inside and started lecturing me that I should just know that i should NEVER, with ANY Therapist, knock on the door. So much for "If you're not feeling connected to life or are facing a healing challenge maybe it's time to schedule a massage therapy treatment." I guess that means: If you need somebody to treat you from above to get back into balance... When I tried to explain to her what thoughts had prompted me to have the audacity to knock she told me that she was going to issue me a refund because she didn't think she was the right therapist for me. When she got further into finding fault with my behaviour, telling me off for even opening my mouth and finding pseudo-psychological explanations for why I was "misbehaving" (really?) I couldn't help but feeling she was right. Let me note that I was just politely disagreeing with the fact that I should have known. I am just sorry that I went all the way to Cambridge in my state and wasted my time on an experience I could have had with a grumpy T-driver - for free. read more

Latoya is an attentive, experienced Massage Therapist who provides a relaxing atmosphere and integrates mindfulness into her practice. I have always had to tell other Massage Therapists to use more pressure, but they were still always too ginger with me, and I had never really had the experience of a real deep tissue massage. Latoya was wonderful. Solid pressure AND created a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere that inspired me to get back to my yoga practice that I had lost track of for about 6 months. I also must say that I injured my lower back a year ago, and no amount of PT has helped recover it. My back felt better than it had in a long while after my visit with Latoya. Latoya is my new go to Massage Therapist! read more

I highly recommend Latoya at Serenity Wellness Massage. I recently felt a lot of stress and after the massage by her I felt much better!!

I strained a muscle in my neck and had a tension headache that lasted more than a week. I found Latoya through a quick Google search and saw how highly she was recommended by so many clients. After my first session with her, I can see why she is rated so highly. She was incredibly professional, personable, and empathetic. The massage was wonderful and exactly what I needed to relieve my tension headache and release some of the trigger points in my neck. I will absolutely be going back to see her soon! read more

I was suffering from a recent lower back injury and visited Latoya off the recommendations I found online. I am very happy that I chose to visit her. She is a true professional and takes her time focusing on the areas that need attention. I have visited therapists in the past and the relief is only temporary. Latoya on the other hand got down to the cause of the injury rather than just treating the symptoms. I felt better than ever. I plan on making Lotoya a monthly visit. read more

I found Serenity Wellness Massage through an Amazon Local or Livingsocial deal and LOVED my deep tissue massage! I was expecting to enjoy this one time massage (in my neighborhood) but that was it! I definitively DID!!!! and Latoya is a wonderful person and therapist who cares very very much about your well-being. Now, I have bought since then SEVERAL packages for different types of massage -including prenatal massages (really relaxing and helpful during pregnancy), deep-tissue etc, and come as often as I can. I have also recommended her to my friend and bought packages as present for them. They all liked it very much! So, try to take some time for you and come enjoy Latoya's strength and softness. You will also like the ambiance that she creates during the massage. I very often am close to fall asleep... :) Thanks Latoya! read more

I have nothing positive to say from my very short experience with dealing with Latoya. I called yesterday to set an appointment because after searching the website I couldn't locate online booking. I missed it by mistake so I decided to call which I've done with plenty of other massage parlors in the past with no problem. The conversation was very odd it's as if I inconvenienced her by calling and leaving a voicemail. I never received such feedback before because like I mentioned earlier in the past I have called plenty of other parlors even if they offer online booking. I was looking to get my very first prenatal massage sooner than later since it's the holidays I figured I would go with the company with the soonest availability. So the appointment was set for the following day which was great! Then in the midst of getting ready to head there the time on my navigation jumped ahead by 15-20 mins due to traffic so I thought let me call right away to see if this is okay or if I can reschedule and she proceeded to tell me that it would come out of my time so I asked if I could reschedule. She said that this was her time and so on so I just cancelled. I went ahead and swapped out my Groupon and found another deal with better customer service from the staff. I wouldn't recommend to any of my friends. read more

I believe muscular therapy massage is important for my health-mental, emotional, and physical. Yet, finding the right person was not an easy task. I wanted someone who had both formal training in muscular, and who possessed an instinctive feel for how to get rid of tension and stress. This is what I wanted, but in addition, I needed to find someone who offered affordable rates. I cannot believe how lucky I am to have found such a person. Latoya is both a superb muscular therapist, and is affordable. read more

I recently moved to Cambridge from northern California and a friend highly recommended LaToya. This is not assembly line massage i.e. massage envy. LaToya takes the time to get to know you and the parts of your body that need special work. I feel like a new woman every time I go to see her & try to visit every two weeks. Her location is in a very clean, peaceful setting. If you are looking for a gift for Christmas or some other special occasion, she also offers gift certificates. I gave one to a friend and have recommended them to others. Also LaToya's prices are amazingly reasonable given the high quality of service. read more

The most dynamic massage I have ever had! This is not the typical cookie cutter massage. The entire experience is a journey worth every penny! I was initially impressed by how well Latoya begins the massage session. Latoya dedicated time to listening to me and understanding what is important to me and my specific needs. This immediately allowed me to relax and the fact I didn't feel rushed made this a fantastic start to my massage. I don't believe words can describe the amazing experience that Latoya creates by ensuring a very calming and relaxing start to the massage by incorporating a comfortable temperature with the perfect combination of sound and smell. The calming voice Latoya uses to ensure the entire experience remains relaxing really impressed me. Each and ever touch combined the exact amount of strength needed to ensure that my muscles received the much needed attention I requested at the beginning of the massage. I felt so relaxed and stress free. Imagine 75 minutes of absolute and total relaxation as each technique Latoya utilized was based on my needs and what I requested at the beginning of the session. I was so impressed at how strong her hands are and yet how careful she is to apply just the right amount of pressure depending on what muscle she is focused on. I enjoyed each and every moment of my 75 minute sports massage. It was a breath of fresh air to finally enjoy a massage that was the perfect combination of touch, sound, temperature, and the utmost passion you could ever imagine a massage therapist could devote to a person to ensure the ultimate experience. This massage is exceptional! Latoya has an amazing ability to communicate, listen, and really understand what your needs are to create a dynamic and unforgettable experience.
