(1) I specifically and repeatedly requested that Trinity give me the eyebrow shape that I used to have naturally, showing her photos, and she assured me that she could do that. Unfortunately she uses a palate with a standard shape and gave me eyebrows that looked ridiculous on me. (2) When I went back for the required 2nd appointment it was obvious that one eyebrow started further from center than the other. I presumed she would fix it and she told me she would have to charge me to make them the same size. (3) Finally, after 2 years, the micro-bladed eyebrows had faded and left orange dye where her microblading had been. Overall: Pricey but worth it every time! Establishment: Clean and luxurious spa feel from beginning to end. The nail bar is a nice touch of originality as I haven't been anywhere else with an actual bar setup instead of the typical desks as a workspace. Customer Service: Everyone is really friendly and the front desk service is very professional. They make it a point to keep/get everyone done on time and get the exact services they've requested. Services: So far I've only ever had manicures and pedicures here, but do plan to look into other services cause I always see people coming in and out of the waxing sections, etc. And I've seen some really gorgeous eyebrows come out of those rooms (lol). Pros: Beauty spa is clean, conveniently located, and the staff members are friendly. You can walk in or make an appointment, they have a good menu of services and most prices are reasonable. Cons: I went in to get no chip polish removed and a regular manicure since I don't like to have back to back no chip. They did a good job removing the shellac, shaping my nails and cleaning up my cuticles. However, I could have skipped the regular nail polish. I'm not sure if it's they way they applied it, but it really never hardened and dried. I sat under their drying fans for 4 cycles and finally had to leave. I tried to be careful but they got dents in them fairly quickly and I noticed that they were still soft to the touch a full 8 hours later. I ended up taking the polish off and redoing them at home. They should really offer seche vita top coat for regular manicures to ensure the polish hardens and dries. I was also disappointed to learn that they charge (if I heard correctly) $9 extra for the 5-free organic polish. The whole bottle isn't even worth $9. Bottom line: I would probably go back here for a regular manicure with no polish or a clear coat but skip a color since I had to redo it later. I would also go for shellac since it dries quickly and stays on. read more

I did it again. Because it's across the street from my house. And I've found the common denominator. While he is soooo kind, do NOT see the older male technician. Period. I've had polish peel off twice and my last visit resulted in a bleeding toe that will prevent me from wearing closed-toed shoes for at least a week as well as a bloody pinky finger (thank goodness i chose red nail polish). I hate leaving bad reviews, but if I go here again -- and I likely will because #lazy -- i will make sure I never am paired with the guy again. Period. I've been going to Beauty Spa on and off for manis and pedis for 10 years, and I've had more successes than failures. They're a great deal when you get a technician that does a good job, but some are more precise than others. They even do Dazzle Dry manicures, which are my favorite - the durability of gel, without the harsh nail effects, and it dries in 5 minutes. But sometimes the gamble isn't worth it to me and I go to Miniluxe instead because: 1) Gel removal: Tell the technician to use a file only or they might pull a Dremel out of a drawer and sand your nails to oblivion. 2) Nail repairs: If you have weak cracked nails due to their rough gel removal technique, the tech will just glue the nail and paint over without reinforcing it with silk, and the nail might crack again soon after. 3) Dazzle Dry: It isn't used often and the techs don't always know to soak the base coat in warm water until it's not cloudy, and to add a couple drops of DD Revive to the top coat if it's thick or you get trapped bubbles. My last manicure was great until it was completely ruined by a bubbly topcoat and I felt bad making the girl redo all 10 fingers, so I only got the worst ones fixed. I feel bad criticizing this place because the women are very nice and most do a great job, but there have definitely been times where I look at my manicure and think, "Well, that was a waste of $30." read more

I struggled to find a good facial in Boston for the longest time and finally stumbled across Trinity after learning she offers facial exercises with lymphatic drainage, more commonly called a "face gym". I've been going to Trinity for a few months now and get the facial exercise facial each time, which uses micro currents to strengthen your facial muscles. My face has never been so lifted. Best manicure in Cambridge. For nails you cannot beat Tiana. I have never had such attention taken with my problem cuticles. The gel manicure outlasted my own curiosity and frugality. The first time I had her do my nails I couldn't bear to cut them, I just wanted to see how long they could possibly still look good. No chips, 6 weeks. Same level of care with toes. I've seen other technicians watching her apply polish like they were trying to learn from a Jedi. Speaking of other technicians the very best part about the atmosphere of this place is not just that it has better lighting and design than other local shops, but that the workers genuinely seen to enjoy their day and laugh with each other. I went to Beauty Spa on a Saturday without an appointment and got in pretty quickly. They are open late on Saturdays which is awesome for people who can't get to the nail shop during the week. All the girls were pleasant, the space was pretty, organized and CLEAN (sometimes a tough one to find around here). I only got a gel but I know they do a lot more services. I first went to Beauty Spa for an eyebrow waxing, and they did a fantastic job for an inexpensive price, so I went back a few times. When my mom came to visit and wanted to get her nails done, I suggested she go to Beauty Spa, because I know it's popular. The only problem is, they charged her $35 dollars for JUST a French tip manicure. She didn't say anything because she's used to Texas prices and thought Boston was just that more expensive, but I guess the lesson to be learned here is to watch out for their pricing and be clear what you should be paying for. read more

A few years ago I used to come here fairly regularly. At that time, the salon was half the current size. I'm not sure why I've never written a review. When I got married, all the ladies of the wedding party got manicures here. They were responsive and flexible for such a large group. I returned for the first time in several years. My friend and I were walkins, her for a pedi, me for a mani. They said they had just enough time to fit is in. I was then ecstatic to see they did Shellac and worried that they wouldn't have time for that. Despite the additional time for the shellac, they happily accommodated me. Despite their warning about time, the manicure was thorough, relaxed, and absolutely fantastic. My manicurist was Tyler and he was friendly and wonderfully detailed. My friend had similar feelings about her procure. We also really appreciated that the tools came out of sanitization packets and the foot bath got a good run down. I recently moved within Cambridge and was hoping to find a new nail place closer to my apartment. I called ahead this morning for a gel mani/regular pedi. I would say this place gets packed. There was always at least 5-6 people there even during the holiday weekend. I got a white gel mani and I while I will admit that white is the most unforgiving of colors, the nail technician kept on layering coats to try to get the color opaque. I have a good feeling this color is going to fall off in one huge bubble. Additionally hate that she touched my skin (photos). I am disappointed by my experience. "Meh. I've experienced better." That's how Yelp describes a 2-star rating, and sure enough, that's how I'd describe my reaction to my experience there. Before I was actually able to get a pedicure here, I was once turned away. At about 12:30 on a Saturday, I was told that they *might* be able to squeeze me in around 3pm, but that they were very busy and I should come back another time. Granted, it *was* a Saturday, but the person who sent me away was a little gruff as well. Had there been another place in the immediate vicinity of Judy Jetson that would have been able to do my nails, I'd have gone there instead. Still, I was desperate as I was attending a surprise birthday party later in the day, and would be wearing kickass open-toed shoes, which meant a pedicure was crucial. I stopped back over to Beauty Spa at about 2:30, and miraculously, they were able to fit me in. They pitched the Chanel nail polish line, telling me up-front that they're getting feedback that it lasts longer than their standard OPI products. For a scant $7 more, they could use the Chanel on my nails. I passed. Other than the Chanel-pushing, the prices seem to be on-par with similar places. The staff was friendly (eventually) and the facility appeared to be acceptably clean. The primary reason for my 2-star review is the abysmal lack of longevity of my pedicure. Typically, a pedicure will remain presentable for me at least a month - with OPI products, incidentally. This is taking into account that I am frequently barefoot, wear flip-flops quite frequently, and am... well, I'm kinda klutzy and strengthy which means I stub my toes at every conceivable opportunity. Still, my pedicures typically lasy 4-6 weeks before beginning to chip. On the day I received my pedicure, I also had a manicure which chipped literally less than 24 hours later. While I'm not going to even pretend that my manicures last very long, I can usually anticipate enjoying pretty fingernails for 3-5 days. Notsomuch this time. I think in the future, I'll go elsewhere. For the same amount of cash, I can get a longer-lasting pedi and a lot less 'tude. (: read more

The first two times I went here I left pretty content, but the last time was a nightmare. I came in for a regular manicure and was assigned to an older man who spoke very little English. That's fine, but unfortunately this led to issues communicating what I wanted. My cuticles are very small, so most nail technicians leave them alone and only clean under them. However he went ahead and started cutting them, and of course ended up cutting the skin above one finger leaving me bleeding. Fast forward a few days and my cuticles look TERRIBLE. This place would receive a 4 star because it's a good $12 manicure, except for the fact that my boyfriend got his first manicure there today and they charged him $12 even though he didn't have any polish or buffing. Now I could understand if they charged him the full price if he had had his nails buffed, but the fact is they cut his cuticles, and gave him a massage. They could at least cut $2 bucks off that right? But this place is open on Sunday, huge plus, there was no wait, and the staff was very nice. The interior of Beauty Spa is very modern - there's new age portraits of divas on the wall and the manicure station is one long, black high table. They seem to have a pretty large staff - it's pretty big and they definitely have capacity to have a lot of people at once. The color selection is kind of meh - lots of reds, lots of corals and lots of weird colors like bright blue. I've been to quite a few nail salons, and Beauty Spa ranks right in the middle. My pedicure was insanely short - it was pretty much like 30 minutes long, with minimal effort on every step. The interior was clean, though, and all the tools came in the individual sanitized packets. On the other hand, my friend got a pretty bad cut during the cuticle trim, which I haven't seen happen anywhere for a really long time. On the pricey side, even compared to the local offerings - 27$ for a pedicure, tip on cash only. read more
