I haven't had a short hair cut in years and all of a sudden had a yearning to go really short. I asked around about recommendations. My daughter suggested going to Cara at Love and Mercy. I called to book an appointment. However as I had certain constraints about when I could go over, I ended up having an appointment with Kerri on a Saturday afternoon. I was highly apprehensive about getting a short haircut. But Kerri did a great job. My hair looked just great. The best part is that they are still in good shape even after a couple of months. This just goes to show how wonderful Kerri is with the cuts. I would recommend anyone who wants to get a short haircut and who is unsure where to get it done from should try out Love and Mercy. Had my hair colored by Erik who was great. Would give him a 5/5. He was friendly and walked me through what would be the best approach for my hair. However, I am giving the salon a 2/5 as it does not mention on their website that there is an extra charge ($60 here) to have your hair blow dried after it is colored. In my experience (at CA, NY, FL, and CT salons), blow drying was never an extra charge after coloring. What felt shady was that the price is not marked on their website when you are booking your appointment. This is especially an issue if you book your appointment within the next 48 hours as you cannot cancel your appointment without being charged. read more

I've just had a truly awful experience at this salon. I called the day before an appointment to cancel, as I have been called out of town. I learned for the first time of their 48 hour cancellation policy. They indicated it is noted in their email confirmations. I always book with them by phone, and confirm by text. Neither over the phone nor on text do they communicate this policy. I also just started going to this salon about 3-4 months ago, and there was no orientation for new customers explaining this policy. I am quite shocked they were not willing to comp me for this first run in with their cancellation policy. They have said they will consider noting it in their text messages in the future, but that the charge to me for both a cut AND a color would stand, even though there is no way I can physically make this appointment now, and was I never made aware of this policy. A business can set whatever cancellation policy it wants to, but if they're going to implement something this draconian, they have an obligation to communicate this explicitly to all new customers, as well as at the point of booking appointments. I was really quite shocked by how arrogant and snippy the manager was. Wow, what a bad experience. read more

I cannot day enough great things about this salon. I called/emailed Love and Mercy on Tuesday because I had a horrible experience at another salon and my hair was the definition of a disaster. Not only was Brian at the front desk so kind to me, but he told me that he would do what he could to get me in with Patty, even though she was fully booked for what sounded like the next month. After a few back and forth emails (with pictures of my embarrassing hair), Patty emailed me herself and told me she was going to make room in her schedule for me. By Thursday afternoon, I had a 12pm appointment booked for Saturday. When I arrived, my experience was nothing short of amazing. The entire staff treated me respectfully and they were so sweet, even though brushing my hair, pieces were falling out. I was mortified. I honestly told Patty that I trusted her to do what she needed to do to make me feel pretty again/save my hair! She ended up bringing down my root and adding low lights while also giving me a few conditioning treatments/masks to help restore the shine in my hair. All of the assistants were so sweet and I got the best hair massage as well. When the process was finally done, the assistants blow dried my hair and I almost cried tears of happiness. Patty literally went beyond my expectations and made me feel completely myself and beautiful again. She then gave me an amazing cut as well. I truly cannot say enough AMAZING things about this salon. I will NEVER go anywhere again for my hair to be colored/highlighted or cut again. I will say that you pay for what you get, and it's worth every single dollar. I cannot thank Patty enough for not only squeezing me into the schedule, but also being respectful of the horrible job another stylist had done and then spending the time fixing both my hair and my ego to make me feel beautiful again. I had my haircut this weekend by Mel and havie nothing but positive things to say! To start, I was contacted by the salon a week or so prior to my appt letting me know my original stylist was going to be out so I would have to reschedule. I let them know I was having save the date photos taking the day of my original appt and really wanted to keep an appt that day for a nice look in the photos. They were accommodating and found a way to fit me in with Mel. Mel was super friendly and personable, which is always great when going to someone new. I let her know I wanted a trim, subtle framing, and long layers. I'm always nervous about asking for a framed look because it's been done poorly before. Mel really took the time to get an understanding of what I wanted and the end result was perfect! While my cut wasn't anything too tedious (from my view), you can tell Mel pays attention to detail which I think is important regardless of a basic cut to something bigger.I highly recommend Mel for your next hair appt! read more
