Got a dip with extension for $65. They were super sweet to fit me in with only 40 minutes till close. The tech gave me advice on taking care of my brittle, damaged nails. The only thing that was concerning, was the fact that they didn't use a separate bowl when applying the dip powder, they used the container it came in. I know from online and experience that they should use a separate, disposable or washable bowl when applying powder to avoid bacteria spreading between clients. The nails were still very good. Best dip powder in Boston! I've gone twice already and both have lasted me over a month. My nails have been growing so much- I'm so happy with it! It's very affordable too- $50 dip powder plus $5 to remove previous ones. My only complaint is that you have to tip cash and I forgot to have cash on me last time and I felt so bad. The salon is clean and comfortable. All the staff are very nice and do amazing work! Can't wait to come back soon to get my next set. read more

Walk in for wax. I normally am loyal to my friend Monica (she does a superior waxing job so I go out of my way for her- also because I love her) but sometimes I procrastinate and then boom suddenly tomorrow I'm flying out to Fla for a meeting and I can't get to Allston. On my way home the other day I took this side street (don't often come down this street - I normally go down West) and I noticed the salon. Glad I did because this place saved me. $37 for eyebrow, lip, chin wax - very reasonable. Now I'm not the hairy scary monster. Most importantly service was great , salon is clean. You can enjoy the building's beautiful architecture as you gaze upon the gorgeous ceiling as your facial hair is being delicately ripped off. (Ironically the service is definitely NOT a rip off!) I'll be back when I can't get to Allston. It's ethical waxing cheating. That's what I tell myself. read more

The space was bright and sunny - window sills lined with healthy plants. There was gentle volume music playing to help their patrons relax. They use great quality products and their nail techs, specifically Nga (or Nina) is very creative and competent. I got a GelX manicure and it was perfect and lasted a month! She tries her best not to damage your nail beds and is very gentle with your hands and fingers. I've been to crappy nail salons with techs who will literally file your nail beds down like they're polishing wood and will twist your wrist to position your hands properly. Luckily, this nail salon is truly a pleasant experience. I would absolutely return. read more

During the whole gel nail process, the lady kept telling me to relax my fingers when she was clearly hurting me, and I couldn't relax and was very stressed. I got the deepest cut on the side of my nail and the pain is terrible afterwards. The nails are not painted evenly and the finished nails are not professional. I have never gotten a cut so deep and it is very pricey. I was expecting more from a simple gel manicure and the standards are just not there for this place. read more

This place was walking distance from my hotel and I needed my nails done. They were horribly unprofessional in every way. They don't know how to file, buff, paint nails properly or evenly. The staff were shockingly rude. Their prices are high. Then they had me put my hands under a dryer and when I pulled them out, a bug was sitting on my finger. Gross! read more

Went to Downtown Nails & Spa two weeks ago for a regular pedicure during my office lunch break. Pros: No wait and the place is clean with no chemical smell. Cons: A BIG con. The young girl assigned to me did an absolute terrible job. Her leg massage was by using her finger nails to lightly crawl on my skins. Hot stone was barely warm. Worst thing, went I got back to my office I noticed the nail polish were all uneven on on the tip of my toe nails and the nail polish on my big toes were all messed up. Terrible experience. I came in for my 5:30 appointment right on time. No one greeted me, asked for my name, or gave me polish options. Had to track down the dip-colors basket myself and took a seat at the drying station. I noticed the salon was busy and had a feeling it would be a minute but after 30 minutes I was a bit fed up. I walked over to the woman to seemed to be the manager and asked how much longer it would be and she told me another 30 minutes! I've come here 4 times now. 3 of those visits were so fun & professional, with beautiful quality work done. This past week I called and booked an appointment, greeted on the phone with such a lovely woman who booked me in for later that day. I arrived about 10 minutes early with no expectations of being seen sooner. I just rather be a little early if not right on time or late. Out of respect. I was greeted at the door with another super welcoming staff member, checked in, picked my color, & took a seat where directed to. Only to then be met with a man who already looked completely annoyed and disinterested in me being there. I didn't take this personal, nor see I choose to forget that maybe he had a long day. Maybe his last few clients were awful to him. But once we started he immediately seemed pissed. Getting annoyed about my fingers not studying out of his way while measuring the false tips he was applying, pushing them back on my hand, getting up & walking away randomly, huffing & puffing, rolling his eyes, speaking in a very short, annoyed tone. I was trying to just follow his lead & stay out of the way other than my hands being where they should be while he did my manicure. Worst part about this was my final outcome. My nails were done quick & a bit carelessly, leaving done of the paint half done, unpainted gaps here & there. I knew if I tried to kindly ask fur then to be finished a bit more I'd probably cause a whole issue so I just let it be, tipped $20 in hopes of him at least feeling like I was grateful for his time & obviously still paid for the service. I left there with an awful full set of acrylics. Smudges & gaps galore. It wasn't until I gave him the cash tip that he spoke kindly to me while having me out at the register. Terrible. I work with people every day. I understand it's not the easiest to work a job tying to please the public. I'm in healthcare in an ER most days. I get it dude. But I brought no issues to him, if you're not having a good day, or certain people annoy you immediately, retire or find a new gig. This is a great salon. So this experience was incredibly unfortunate. read more
