If you are looking for a new nail salon, you can stop looking now and call Secret's to book a nail appointment! I've been going to Secret's regularly for 7 months now, for gel manicures and regular pedicures. Precision for me is HUGE. I pay close attention to how my nails are done and have been very satisfied with this salon. I had a really hard time finding a good nail salon in Boston and had a hard time committing to one because I'm a perfectionist and notice mistakes on my nails whenever I go get them done ... I would just end up doing my own nails. That was until I found Secret's. I had been looking for a good nail salon in Boston for about a decade, and tried MANY, but couldn't commit to them. The best one had been MiniLuxe, but their quality and precision has decreased significantly in the last couple of years (plus their prices were a bit too much for the result and what you were getting). I moved to the North End and finally made it into Secret's. I'm soooo glad I found them! I have tried most of the ladies there for different services (pedis and manis). They're all very sweet and make you feel welcomed. I normally book Nina (or Tiffany when Nina is booked) for my gel manicures every 2 weeks. She's amazing and has a lot of precision. She's the owner of Secret's and is there all the time. She's very friendly and you can tell she always pays attention to what's going on in the salon to ensure all the clients are being taken care of and satisfied. Tiffany, is great too! She also has a lot of attention to detail and has a lot of precision. I really like her work! I've gotten pedicures with Vee and Mia as well and they are both super nice, and also pay dedicated attention to how they cut your nails in a way they don't bother you as they grow. And I've loved my pedicures with them! Also, if you enjoy nice long massages, Mia is your girl! (I've seen people booking her for her long massages ) I've recommended this place to a few people who have asked me for nail salon recommendations and they were all very satisfied after going to Secret's. Tip: try to book your appointments 1week ahead because they get booked pretty quickly. They do have walk-ins but of course that's only if someone is available... I always recommend calling ahead of time. I normally book my next appointment right after getting my nails done. These pictures are from manicures I've gotten with both Nina and Tiffany.
I walked in to make an appointment for a few days later... hoping I wouldn't get stuck with one of the older ladies but alas, I got stuck with one. She is so sweet but she's AWFUL at painting nails. She also hurt me when she was doing my cuticles. I was flying out the next morning so I was stuck with some awful nails that weren't fully painted. I didn't realize until I was 2 blocks away so I just let it go. My pedicure was okay but my manicure, from the pictures you can see, is awful. Save your money and go somewhere else or get the owner, she was working on a customer who seems to be repeat because they were talking forever while she did her nails and I think she was going to sell her a bag. I won't recommend and I won't go back.
My nails were just ok. I got dip powder with tips and asked for an almond shape which were pretty slanted. They started coming off in about two weeks. My friend got a gel manicure and hers started peeling quickly. For the price and convenience of time/location it was decent and the staff was very kind, but probably won't go back.
I am new to the area and this salon was recommended to me. I booked an appointment with Nina, the owner. She did a wonderful job! I didn't have to wait at all. She got me in the chair on time of my appointment and had me out the door with in under an hour and did fantastic. I get dip powder over my natural nails and usually at other salons they look thick and fake. My nails have never looked more natural with dip powder on them. I definitely will be returning back.
First time I came and the it was pretty good. The woman who did my nails was great. Second time coming here and it was not the best as I had a different person. I came in with an old dip manicure and they didn't even know how to take it off properly. Finally they switched nail techs and it got better. I ended up getting a gel French manicure and I wanted to wait a week to see how it held up. Some of them are already starting to lift. Not worth $55 but would be curious to see if a regular gel would be better.
Great salon! Always have openings even when I walk right in, and great customer service always! Must say everyone who works here is fantastic so I don't have to even bother waiting for one specific person each time or worry about who I may get. Gel manicure is reasonable especially for boston prices ($30). The manicures themselves last me about the two weeks as usually advertised and the color selection is unlimited! This was my first time at Secret's and Tiffany did a great job. I called around 1 to see if they had any availability around 5 and they were able to squeeze me in. When I got there it wasn't packed at all, very quiet and peaceful. Tiffany was quick and very patient with me. I'll definitely be going back. ***Updated review*** So I went back to Secret's for dip powder and I also needed a tip added to one of my nails. Tiffany did my nails again and after I picked out my nail color she asks me if I'd like my cuticles cut. I answer yes, confused because I've never had a nail service where that wasn't automatically done. I later find out why- I was charged $47 for the service all together. $35 for the dip job, and the other $11 for the nail tip and cutting of my cuticles. Cuticle cutting should be included in the price for the dip job. Also a few of my nails were bumpy, but whatever, I'll take that L. Except 3 days later my thumb nail is chipped. I've gotten dip powder done at other places many times and it has NEVER chipped. So I go back and the lady doing my nails (not Tiffany this time) just sands down the rest of the corner that was chipped and starts applying the dip adhesive. I'm like why aren't you taking off the whole nail? She tells me she's going to do 2 coat on just the corner and then put a final coat over the whole nail. That doesn't make sense to me cause what's to stop the nail from chipping in that same spot? So I'm like can you please just take the whole nail off and do it over. She says something to a woman who's in the pedicure chair (assuming this is the manager or owner) and then tells me that woman will be doing my nails. She then wraps my nail and has me sit in that woman's chair. I'm sitting there for a while before I take the foil off my own nail and wipe it down. The owner or manager is still getting her pedicure and has not acknowledged me at all. When she finally comes over she does some horrible rushed job but at this point I just need to go cause I'm about to be late for work. I start down the stairs to leave and she says that I owe her $3. I'm like it's a nail fix within 3 days. She tells me that if I would've just let the other woman do just the corner it would've been free but because I wanted the whole nail done I'm being charged. That's ridiculous and makes no sense to me. I was so happy to have finally found somewhere close to my job to do my nails rather then at my regular salon across town that's usually closed when I get out of work, but no. This place will never have my business again. And throughout the next week 2 more nails chipped.

So unfortunately, the first set I reviewed fell off within 3 weeks, which normally I can go 4-5 weeks without a nail falling off so that was unexpected but I assumed it was my fault. I came back here later to get another set that was also very cute but also fell off in 2-3 weeks. Over all really cute sets but maybe not the highest quality materials. read more

Wouldn't go anywhere else for acrylics, mani:pedi, waxing, and eyelashes. Tried numerous places when I first moved to Boston and this place is the best. Nina can shape your nails exactly how you want them! Before and after pics read more

I am new to the area and this salon was recommended to me. I booked an appointment with Nina, the owner. She did a wonderful job! I didn't have to wait at all. She got me in the chair on time of my appointment and had me out the door with in under an hour and did fantastic. I get dip powder over my natural nails and usually at other salons they look thick and fake. My nails have never looked more natural with dip powder on them. First time I came and the it was pretty good. The woman who did my nails was great. Second time coming here and it was not the best as I had a different person. 3rd time to a nail salon.. went with some friends walked in, got seen real quick, fantastic massage on the pedicure.. manicure was great, good hand massage. Overall good experience I'll be back. Mei hooked me up so you know I had to tip her 10$ read more

YES YES AND YES. Finally found the nail spot I've been dreaming about since moving back to the city. Kristen was AMAZING. I didn't really know what I wanted but came in needing a fill and wanted to try some natural ombré gel/dip. SHE KILLED IT. Great selection of polish and CLEAN. What's not to love? Unfortunately, it totally depends on who you get here. I've had great manicures and manicures I could have done better myself. I got my nails done for a wedding 4 days ago and the paint has completely peeled at the tip of the nail and at the nail bed. My cuticles look ragged. That said there are really good people here. I would recommend that you read reviews and make an appt with a specific person--don't do a walk-in. I don't want to knock anyone but the two middle aged ladies working there are the ones I've had a few bad experiences with. One did my cleaning and the other did nail polish and I had to ask them to take nail polish off of my skin and not paint over a smudge. The owner of the salon is great and all of the young gals do stellar jobs. I swear I'm not being an ageist! Just do your research and get a good person when you go! read more

Someone in a gym class suggest I check out Secret's as a north end nail salon. I decided to go on a Saturday morning at 10:15 (they open at 10). I was the first customer of the day and only the owner was there to help me but she said she could absolutely do a pedicure and gel polish change. The pedicure was one of the best I've ever had anywhere (Boston, NYC, Philly, DC) and the massage was an actual massage! The only problem was after the pedicure you have to walk up a set of 4 stairs to the nail stations and I screwed up my polish. I felt so terrible!! But the owner insisted on redoing the polish and ended up doing my manicure in a pedicure tub as well (I didn't trust myself to go back up the stairs either) It was a busy place by the time I was leaving at noon on a snowy day. I would definitely return soon. Best of all the owner insisted if any nails got messed up before I left for vacation to come back in so my nails look their best! read more

Really pretty dip manicure by Nina! Probably the thinnest dip set I've ever had, they feel so nice. Also had a pedicure which she did a really good job on, helped match the polish the best she could. Will be coming back here! read more

This is my third salon I've tried in Boston. The other two were either over priced or the gel manicure wouldn't even last a week. I am so happy with my manicure today. She took her time while filing buffing and painting my nails. Everyone was very friendly. It was very affordable. I will definitely be going back! read more

My first experience at Secret's was very pleasant! The location is off the Main Street so it is quiet, ambient. I loved the selection of gel colors, which the lady who did my toes helped me pick.. They were very gentle and made my time there so enjoyable. Nina did exactly what i requested and did an amazing job at it! I can't wait to come back and get a fill. read more

The salon is very neat and the nailist was very nice. The staffs always use their language though. They have strong accent when they speak english, so it was hard to understand ;( Anyway, the price is very reasonable too! I did gel nail but it cost me $40. That's not bad deal. If this nail last 1month, I will go there again. read more
