SCAM! I am absolutely disgusted with how Exhale Spa handled this. I purchased a $300 gift card after speaking directly with one of their sales representatives over the phone, who actively promoted a gift card discount and encouraged me to take advantage of it. I decided to splurge because of that promotion. She even specifically told me about their Tuesday-Thursday discounted spa/facial rate of $172 instead of the regular $215 price. What she conveniently failed to disclose was that Exhale then forces customers to pay a mandatory 20% gratuity calculated on the FULL price of the service, plus another 5% facility fee--and I was told that I CANNOT EVEN USE MY $300 GIFT CARD TO PAY THESE MANDATORY CHARGES. They do not even allow you to leave a cash tip. So Exhale was perfectly happy to take from me while promoting their discounted services, but somehow neglected to mention the additional mandatory charges I would have to pay out of pocket in order to actually use the gift card for those services. Apparently this is buried in the fine print on their website. Had this been disclosed to me, I NEVER would have purchased the gift card. I asked for a refund because I cannot afford these services once all of these undisclosed mandatory charges are added on top. Instead of acknowledging how misleading this was, manager Kayla actually left me a voicemail suggesting I could use my $300 gift card to buy skincare products instead. Are you kidding me? I did not spend $300 on SPA gift card because I wanted $300 worth of skincare products. I bought it specifically to receive spa services based on the pricing their own representative quoted to me. This entire experience feels incredibly deceptive. If customers are required to pay substantial additional fees out of pocket that their gift card cannot even cover, that should be disclosed clearly BEFORE taking hundreds of dollars from them--not hidden in fine print and revealed only when they try to book. I feel completely misled and scammed. The refusal to refund me after the circumstances were explained only makes this worse. I would never recommend Exhale Spa or any of their locations after this experience. Customers deserve transparency before handing over their money. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience has been frustrating enough that I feel obligated to warn others. First, basic amenities have been consistently unavailable - lockers are broken, so you're forced to carry your belongings around, and the salt room has reportedly been out of order for months. I initially had a good facial, which is why I gave this place a chance. However, I was aggressively pushed into signing up for a membership, which I now regret. Since March 19th, I've been trying to cancel that membership due to ongoing disappointment. I completed and returned the required cancellation form, and since then I've: -Sent four emails -Called and left voicemails -Spoken to staff who promised a callback (which never happened) -Visited in person, only to be dismissed and told someone would follow up It's now been nearly a week since my last visit, and I still have received zero confirmation that my membership has been canceled. At this point, the lack of communication and follow-through is unacceptable. I strongly recommend thinking twice before signing up for a membership here. read more

Avoid. This place used to be great. I went back after a couple years and it's a miracle it's still open. Dirty, broken lockers, moldy showers, terrible quality robes, no one there. The sauna was warm at best and the haman has been broken for a while, with what seemed like zero intention to get it operational again. No drinking water?! I bought a gift card that came with a free massage, got the free massage and now I have a gift card I don't even want to give away it was so poorly managed. Someone left a tea cup in the sitting area and when I got done with my massage it was still there, does anyone work here? The massage itself was probably the worst I've had and my masseuse clearly had a cough and sniffly nose (she wore a mask though) but still came to work. Gotta make that money I guess. Great spa located inside Battery Wharf Hotel ! The spa is couple friendly, offering both couples massage and also a coed relaxation waiting area. While they do not offer food or beverage service , they do encourage you to bring your own. We brought champagne and orange juice and the spa, kindly accommodated us by keeping our drinks, chilled, as well as providing glassware and a chiller, so that we could enjoy cocktails within the coed, relaxation lounge. The women's locker room was well appointed with plenty of lockers , showers, changing areas and restrooms. The couples massage and facial were both excellent, and our service providers were professional, friendly, and well trained. My only complaint is that the spa also offers workout classes and while I think this is wonderful, the fact that I can hear the classes while I am inside of the relaxation lounge does not help me relax . The noise from the classes distracts from the peaceful ambience. read more

Honestly, I tried to like this place. I joined with their "lifetime" membership that gives us access to classes and 1 spa service per month. I did around 10 50 minute facials and never once did the estheticians go up to the full 10 minutes. Average was between 40-45 minutes. They auto charge 20% tip on the full service cost regardless of whether you had a good experience or not. However, the worst part is their membership services. They had a fire in February that made them non-operational for 5 months. Instead of refunding the membership fee, they continued charging the fee for an additional 2 months and granted a "service credit" which is only applicable to a spa service (that will expire if you cancel your membership). They also were incredibly unresponsive when I asked for email clarification as to what was going on. Took many emails to get them to respond to me. I finally decided to cancel my membership in May and went in person to fill out the paper cancellation form (that's the only way to cancel) only to see another membership charge 2 months later for July. I called for clarification and was told "You weren't supposed to get charged but we don't have control over the memberships so I can't tell you for sure that we can refund you." This "spa" caused me way too much stress. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but this was really such an awful experience and I've never felt so trapped by a membership before. read more

I had a number of good massages there but then they had a fire and everything went downhill. The last time I went in, the waiting room smelled like mildew and there was some sort of lint or fuzz all over the floor of my treatment room which meant they didn't care enough to vacuum before my appointment. Plus, they were out of water. There wasn't water in the entire facility. While waiting for my appointment, they told someone coming out of a massage they didn't have any water but were going to get some. 90 minutes later when I was done - still no water. I canceled my membership due to this experience but they charged me for another month because of the 30 day cancelation fee. I've emailed them 6 times total and have never gotten a response and when I call, I'm put on hold for a long time. I don't blame the therapists, but management instead. read more

My complaint starts when I ended my membership with Exhale. They continued to charge me for months after my membership was canceled. I've been in person to get the refund issued four times and called 7 to 8 times. This issue has been unresolved for over seven months. The local people pay good lip, service, and sympathize with you. They have poor follow up skills and promise to coordinate with billing. But the repayment never happens and they refuse to give you any phone numbers to contact a billing person. Watch your credit card bills carefully if you decide to sign up for their services. Update - they finally did refund my money. It still took 7 months and more than a dozen interactions to do so. read more

I originally was really excited about trying out this place. But I was so extremely disappointed, this place is not a luxury wellness spa, not even close. The massage wasnt that good, the showers were cold, and the only other thing you can do in the place is go to the sauna... The Turkish hammam is not what is supposed to be and its literally a dry sauna, and there seemed to be leaks on a part of its ceiling. It is definitely not worth paying ~$350 for just a single massage in this place. You can find better massages for much cheaper and better spa places with actual other things to do for the rest of your day (such as nice relaxation lounges, plunge pools, etc) which would then be worth the high price. So I will not be trying this place again or suggesting it to anyone. read more

Pretty nice, upscale spa place. The entrance is pretty easy to find but it's across from a place where they hold conventions or big dinner so it's definitely a bit weird. However, once you get into the spa, you're automatically put in peace with the quiet and zen sounds. I came here twice already for a deep tissue massage. The first time was great (I had Sarah). This review is for massages at the spa. Honestly, for the high price you pay I'd expect a much better experience. Went last year and the place was falling alarm and under renovations. The massages themselves were mediocre at best. The work was so disruptive that they comped us massages for a future date. We went a couple weeks ago to redeem them and I was still extremely underwhelmed and almost disappointed. In addition the front desk had no idea how to check me out and had to get a manager. I had to send the manager the communication I had around it being comped for a previous poor experience. The whole thing was just sloppy, There are so many better options and for the prices they charge you'd expect so much more. The facility itself doesn't look any better than the last time we went and it was under renovation. Half the lockers in the locker room are broken. Products supplied are barebones and not great. The massages were still mediocre. Seems like they have super high turnover of staff. I was excited for this recent visit to turn my perception around and delight me as a guest and it felt flat. I first joined exhale through classpass and I eventually upgraded to a monthly membership because of how much I loved the barre classes. I used to take Cheryl's classes after work a couple times during the week and she is by far my favorite barre instructor at exhale. They're challenging and she has a great playlist to get you in the mood. The other instructors are also really good as well, but I don't find their classes as challenging. The perk with getting a membership at exhale are the spa benefits. You can get bottled water at the front desk, get access to the sauna, showers, and Turkish bath. There are robes, towels, and sandals for you to wear as well. There is even a room connecting the locker rooms where you can relax and read with some infused water. The only reason why it's four stars is because there isn't a larger class offering for barre. There are plenty of yoga classes, but only a handful of barre classes in a week. read more

I've been coming here since the pandemic. The premise is clean and quiet. There is a sauna and a hamman to sweat out toxics before or after your treatment. My favorite masseuse is Nora (was Matt but he has left the company) and for facials, Nina. They care about my wellbeing and would make honest recommendations and not push you to add on services that you don't really need to get more tips. Because of this trusting relationship, I would go for their recommendations. I've tried a few other folks here and the experience just wasn't the same. I'm lucky that I get to them early so now I only book with them. The receptionist and spa director at this location changes every few months. I don't know if they quit or they get fired but it gets worse each time. There was one who never responded to emails and when I call, he would say he's on it but never follows through. Honestly, I came to Exhale because of their Arlington next to Hermes location but that has not closed. The front desk staff there were very professional and polite. I was kind of surprised that it's almost night and day. But I come here because of Nora and Nina. Because of them, this review is 4 stars and not a mediocre 3. read more

Tldr: positives: not too expensive, nice and kind front desk, good location; negatives: very sparse classes, no instructor retention, poor communication and no transparency from management, outdated facilities, they will try to rip you off I have been a member of this studio for about 6 months and nothing has ran smoothly. Initially joined because of the affordable membership cost, variety of classes offered, and their instructors which were initially all great however now the good instructors have all unsurprisingly left/quit, classes offered are very few & sparse and frequently cancelled with no prior notice which is very inconvenient. The facilities are quite outdated and not very clean, most of the time there is no hot water. The spa prices are way too costly for the quality of the service you get. Front desk team is nice, however they can't be super helpful because most issues are not on their hands. Communication from management is overall the most disappointing part. When the studio was closed for 2 months for renovation, initially I wasn't notified at all, only learned about it when I showed up and the class was cancelled. The whole time the studio was closed I called probably 4-5 times for updates, most of the time couldn't reach anyone. When the studio reopened again I wasn't emailed or called to be notified about it. I randomly passed by the studio one day and realized it was open (during the whole time that the studio was closed I continued to pay the membership fee). While the studio was closed I told a staff member I would like a refund for the months missed, I was told it would be revisited in the future. Later I was told I couldn't get a refund, but I would get a spa credit, which to this day I still haven't received although I am still very much an active member (also needless to say the credit is not the most helpful as all spa services are overpriced and you can't use the credit to tip). In the light of everything above today July 2nd I called to cancel my membership. My next billing cycle is August 2nd as my current cycle ends August 1st. I was told I couldn't cancel because it is outside of the 30day window which according to simple math, it is not true. So I will be forced to pay for an extra month until September for absolutely nothing. Overall, this place has a lot of issues, please use your money elsewhere read more

No pictures to boast this spot. A bit confusing with the instructions of where to park since the front desk person mentioned street parking but it's all residential parking. Best tip: go directly to 401 commercial street parking garage - they do valet parking with discount for 3 hours at Exhale (make sure to ask the front desk before you leave)! The elevator takes you directly to the spa entrance and no need to walk outside at all. I was a bit disappointed since I didn't realize it's still expensive to park even with the discount. My review is based on the yoga. The studio has all the equipment available for use and it seemed like the regulars just used what was at the studio though you are welcome to bring your own. I'm still a bit of a germaphobe with using communal items but there were wipes ready at hand. The teacher was great and such a relaxing experience. There were times to challenge yourself but she provided less intense moves for those more beginner level. I definitely felt the nice aches the day after. What's nice about this yoga studio was the opportunity to use their hot sauna (in the locker room) and their steam room (communal, co-ed shared space). The locker rooms also had slippers, robes, soaps and shampoos and the lockers were super easy to use. I docked "half star" though Yelp doesn't allow me to because the steam room was more of a Turkish steam room as they explained to me - I didn't feel steam at all in the room. It was more of an expectation setting since I thought it would provide more moisture to open up my pores. The communal space area before entering the steam room also had iced lemon water and boiling water for the teas. I notice they didn't restock the teas in two of the boxes but I did get to try one and loved it. Definitely worth the visit for a class and unlimited access to the saunas. As a member for 5 years, I am writing this as a woman who supports women and this "new management" has corrupted the existence of a spa, relaxation, and a wellness experience. It has become a place of shrewd, arrogance and lack of comfort. I began my journey with Nora Treglis. This kind, beautiful woman nourished my soul, every month. I am in awe of her and her way of making a personalized and loving experience. Every month she massaged my soul. She battled pancreatic cancer during Covid and nurtured everyone around her with comfort and grace, put in extra hours to keep this dump afloat. This cheap company, filled their pockets while cutting the employees wages in half, multiple therapists of 5/10+ years left. This outright and blatant disrespect the staff should be enough to never visit this "spa". But let's talk about the service went from 60 to 50 mins.. same price, the discontinued offering of bottled water, the lockers that weren't of available use, but mostly the cold water showers. What are we paying for? Oh but they'll charge you, I have had consistent balance issues, of my consistent overpayment so be sure to check your bill. When finally, I have tried to CANCEL my membership since, December. They won't let me cancel and I was charged twice in February. The spa director ignored my signed wavier to cancel. Please do not sign up to be a member, this spa is the opposite of healing, you and the staff deserve better. *the spa manager refused my call after I called back 5 minutes later because "she was leaving for the day" she is not helpful at all. I have no complaints about this place. I originally attended a few of their fitness classes through ClassPass and decided to get a membership when I was instructed by my doctor to avoid strenuous exercise for a few months (bye bye weightlifting...) I'm soo glad that I did. I've taken their various yoga, barre, and Pilates classes. The instructors are always super nice and very knowledgeable. Bridget, Elizabeth, and Sandy are my favorite instructors but they're all great so you can't go wrong! I feel so much more in touch with my own body after these classes. The instructors really preach mindful movement and being present in the moment, which I love. The facility itself is very clean and has everything that you would need, including a ton of lockers, lovely products, a steam room, and a hammam (which I highly recommend if you're looking for a quiet place to meditate or get away for a bit). I'm always greeted warmly by the receptionists and they are genuinely kind people. Mikey is the assistant general manager and she is always friendly and helpful. I'm so sad I'm moving but I will say canceling my membership here was the EASIEST process I've had thus far anywhere. For years I've looked for a massage therapist who could address my lower back pain in a fully body, holistic way. Exhale Therapist Nora Treglia took the time to understand my concerns and to work with me to provide an amazing massage and help me manage my ongoing pain. She's a consummate professional but also provides a warmth that makes you feel comfortable in a physically vulnerable space. At age 50, can't say I've ever had a better massage. DO NOT GO HERE. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. At the end of summer there was a "lifestyle membership" promotion: $149/month for unlimited studio classes and one spa treatment per month. Seven reasons why you should never step foot in this spa: 1) The facility is dirty. The locker room sinks are filthy, the floors are always wet. I do not trust that the slippers are clean. Their women's room amenity offering is a bowl of used combs. 2) The facility is dated. Their idea of a quiet pre-treatment room is bulk almonds in a jar and dusty tea bags. There has been a "pardon our appearance we are undergoing a facelift" sign in the reception room for the entire four months I was a member. They do not invest in maintenance or upkeep. The lockers are out of order. The sauna is tiny and worn down. 3) The studio classes are over sold and crowded. Their idea of a luxurious members only spa night was amazon quality sheet masks and mats so close strangers are touching you during the work out. 4) The front desk staff do not care about their guests and it's obvious. They love to "pop you on hold" until you wither away and hang up. They will promise to follow up via email with issues to your account and then never do so. I witnessed a front desk person raise their voice at a member because she was standing too close to the back of the desk. 5) The technicians are always unapologetically several minutes late and it cuts into service time, and they do not make up for it at the end. This is reason enough to cancel any membership. 6) The real issue, the final straw for me: they do not have a single face mask in the entire spa. It's cold and flu season, I require my technicians to wear a mask. It's that simple. Despite having asked to have a note on my file, receiving confirmation via email when I began my membership, having discussed my needs with the facial tech Jill multiple times, and Jill agreeing to wear a mask (that I had to provide for her!) for the past three treatments, Jill was not comfortable wearing one on account of her "microdermabrasion" and I only found out once I was already set up and at the spa. She knows I require a mask and yet acts surprised every single time I request it, prioritizing her comfort over her client's wellbeing. By refusing once I was already at the spa and on the table, she created a moment of tension and did not value my time as a guest. I cancelled my membership immediately with a person at the front desk named Tyler. However despite assuring me that he would email me a confirmation and have a paper trail, Tyler, has yet to fulfil his obligations. 7) They will make cancelling your membership an absolute headache. It takes 30 days to cancel which means you will be charged for services you did not use, in my case two months worth of membership fees. Tyler told me he would waive it taking into account their indiscretions. Unless this is sorted out immediately, I will have a dispute with them totalling nearly $300.00. I have emailed and called trying to resolve this before writing a bad review, I wanted to give them the opportunity to make it right, but they are ignoring my emails and dodging my calls claiming they are in "meetings". This establishment is an embarrassment. I see they respond to reviews so cue the phone coincidentally ringing in 3...2...1... Pedicure was average. Customer service was awful. When I checked in, the front desk and other staff were too busy talking amongst themselves to check me in. did not appreciate being yelled at by the technician when I told her I had gel polish. Her tone was so harsh and she was clearly annoyed so I offered to leave. She continued with the pedicure which was average at best. The polish was pretty sloppy. When I checked out, I expected to be charged for the gel removal. Apparently I wasn't because the next date, they charged my credit card twice. once for the $18 gel removal and then 6 hours later for the mandatory 20 percent tip. For the price this spa charges, I expected a much better experience. I will NOT be back. read more

The most relaxing massage I've ever received in my life. I'm a very tense person & know my back is full of knots. The Masseuse has magical hands and I still feel so zen almost 24 hours later. After the massage I spent time lying in the dry-heat hammam room and showered before heading out. Clean as can be, you can eat off the floors. The shampoo and body was smell amazing; wanted to bottle some up and take home! Impeccable customer service- my boss gifted a spa day for my 22nd and every employee greeted me with a happy birthday as I entered each room/ they walked past by throughout time inside. I took one of their Exhale HIIT 30 classes. Not for the faint of heart! It was super intense! I probably wouldn't take it again - the instructor had sort of a military motivational style, which just doesn't jive with me personally. But if you know you slack off in a workout this may be a great class to keep you motivated and working out in full! The class consisted of interval exercises utilizing hand weights and a medicine ball. Personally, I felt like the class was pretty advanced in terms of fitness level. I wouldn't recommend taking this one if you're just starting to work out regularly. The instructor didn't offer any modifications for the exercises to make them easier for beginners and/or low impact for those with injuries. The studio has a fantastic location, and beautiful facilities though. I would definitely be interested in going back for one of their yoga or barre classes! read more

I was so excited to find a relaxing and reliable spa within 5 minutes of my apartment to get my regular facials and I had a few great experiences however my most recent facial was a catastrophe. The girl performing it was very inexperienced and actually damaged my pores when performing extractions. She didn't block my eyes when using the bring lights and left bruises after massaging my arms. I've been receiving facials for the past 6 years and I've never received one that was so poor. I understand that she may have needed more training so I wrote directly to this spa location after it occurred just letting them know what my experience was. That was 2 weeks ago without any response whatsoever. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. For an institution that prides itself on customer service - a complete and utter lack of response is just unacceptable. Unfortunately I'm back to shopping around for another spa to book facials and massages. It's a shame because some of the staff seems capable, its just not worth the risk with a management team that doesn't even care to read and respond to their emails.
