I am on a mission to try all the spin studios in Boston. There were only 8 people in the class I attended which was nice. Having to pay $2 for shoes was slightly annoying, have not had to do that anywhere else. I also did not like lack of weights. The instructor however was really good and was happy to get me clipped in my bike. read more

Just got home from my massage with Lorraine and it was the best massage I've ever had! Lorraine was very caring and made sure I was comfortable throughout. I will definitely be going back! Thank you Lorraine!! read more

The facilities in this place are beautiful. Literally the nicest gym I've ever been to in boston. The class itself was really intense. A fabulous work out. The class is a mix between cardio and strength training, and let me just say it is no walk in the park. You will feel this for days. The only real negative I have is that there was 0 direction. I do not go to exhale regularly and am not in peak shape, and it would have been nice to know what I was doing. The instructor didn't speak up once. I would absolutely recommend the class though. Just be prepared to learn as you go. read more

I'm absolutely obsessed with Exhale - Barre and Barre/Cardio classes with Cheryl (she's the best in Boston and will get you in shape!!). I just had an awesome massage with Nikki, who could tell immediately I'd been running too much - my hip was out of alignment (so THAT'S why that side hurt) and she worked it right out with hammam afterwards. Full on zen experience. You won't get a better massage anywhere, promise. read more

I attended a barre core fusion class (w/ Molly) and it was great! I mostly do cardio so I wasn't prepared for this workout. This class is definitely not for beginners.... The routine is demanding and requires a decent amount of core, leg, and glute strength. I think anyone who works out a bit should be fine. It's great for toning but not weight loss. I haven't tried the cardio class but I'm guessing that one will be even better! I came through classpass and will definitely come again! The studio is beautiful, clean and spacious. I thought there was definitely enough room for everyone at the core fusion class so I'm guessing some classes are busier than others. There is also a sauna that is open to everyone that attends classes :). read more

The manager - Tess Messiche - is the worst. She treats her customers and employees with such disdain.

My first impression was wonderful! I had a fusion massage, however, there was no aromatherapy. The massage bed kept making weird noises and I felt like it was going to fall apart at any many. The massage therapist's phone also loudly rang during. It was more than distracting between the bed and this, but the massage was good. I then got a mani-pedi. I had booked the luxe spa mani-pedi but only got the pure. There was no explanation of why I didn't get the luxe spa. The chair for the pedi was so uncomfortable and hurt my back.. I needed the massage after this... yikes. I guess I'm used to cheap salons with massage chairs. The mani-pedi took a long time. The nail technician also cut my toenail so short, it started bleeding. The nail portion is looking tired and definitely not the same caliber as the treatment portion. It was dirty, dusty, and the floor, furniture, and curtains have all seen better days. The treatment area is nice with robes, slippers, ice water and tea. There is a sauna, steam room, and showers. I would definitely book a massage but skip on the expensive mani-pedi. Also, they make you include a 20% tip. I prefer the tip to be based on the service I receive. read more

Update: I was able to retry the True Facial therapy this afternoon - special thanks to the manager Jenna. She reached out personally and scheduled a session with Carolyn, who was absolutely wonderful. Carolyn helped me feel at ease. She explained the process beforehand, and asked a few questions about my skin (allergies) along with anything I wanted to learn more about. She would give me a heads-up at each stage - very calmly explaining the process. (It wasn't any long explanation, but a kind notice of what was about to happen next.) It was very relaxing, and my skin looked & felt incredible following the session. I am so looking forward to scheduling future sessions! read more

So much better than the Arlington Street location. It's on the second floor also connected to the Battery Wharf hotel. The layout is so much nicer and less confusing. There's a pretty big reception area and then everything else is down one longish hallway. The lockers are digital, which was really cool to see, but the amenities and everything is the same. I took the sport fitness class with Chrissy and I enjoyed it. She was very personable and made the class interesting. The class is split into 2 parts of cardio and barre. I thought the use of the weighted ball added a different element to a normal workout. The barre section uses a long resistance band, which is great for differentiation of resistance. The class went by pretty quickly through the interval training and repetition of various sets of moves. read more

My boyfriend and I recently came here for massages on my birthday. We were lucky to get a same day appointment for couples massages. When we arrived we asked what kind of massages were available - instead of explain to us what our options were - the woman at the front desk told us our massage therapists would discuss upgrade options with us (they never did). My massage was not at all relaxing - instead it was really painful. I get massages 1-2x per week and I am typically OK with medium/hard pressure but this was too much. I asked the therapist to go lighter but my request seemed to fall on deaf ears - I was clearly cringing during the treatment and felt really uncomfortable. The facilities at Exhale were super nice, (we enjoyed the dry heat Hammam room!!)- but the services & customer service unfortunately didn't match. read more

Very disappointed in how the receptionist dealt with my african American friend over something so simple as a question NEVER AGAIN !

Massage was very underwhelming and staff was not very inviting. Masseuse was going through the motions but poor skill level. Didn't feel at all any benefit from it only 140$ poorer. Pretentious and not effective. read more

I had such a great experience coming to this spa. The facility was extremely clean. The massage was exceptional. Not to mention the staff was very welcoming and kind. This is my go-to spa in Boston, especially the fusion massage! Great amenities and friendly staff. They even offer fitness classes.

My 6:00 pm Express Manicure never happened, because their miserable tech stated at 5:50 pm, to me and her associate that "she didn't want to wait the 15 minutes it would take." I use to be the manager of a salon for several years, additionally I have been going to various salons (from street corner Vietnamese to high-end Spas Internationally) and I have never witnessed a ruder, more selfish example of piss-poor service in my life. This was my second visit to Exhale. The two massage I have received were stellar! This visit credited me for service that was not performed on my first visit (I was suppose to have had 1.5 hour massage, but received a 1 hour service at that time). Evidently, I am very unlucky with my experiences at Exhale and I have learned my lesson. read more

If you are going to get kidnapped, pray that you will end up here (as happened to me!) So, work is done at 5pm and I am leaving the building (All Riiiight! You got me! It was actually 4:59pm!) and I am thinking about taking a trip to the north end for some of Mike's awesome hazelnut connolis! But right out side the entrance to the building where I work I see the kidnappers: 4 friends of mine waiting in a car. "Get in!" they shout "And we aint giving you a choice! We're adding somethin to your bucket list!" Now I was a bit hesitant since that is EXACTLY what they said when they tried to take me to a sleazy strip club. But then they found out that I am a much faster runner then they are. (Cardio time guys!) So I think to myself "what the hey!" if it does not work out, I have my fast work shoes on again :) So they drive me to Exhale Spa! (Boy was I exited that I did not have to employ my running abilities...again!) It is beautifully located on the Boston waterfront, near the North End and Financial district. Aside from being one of the highest end spas I have ever seen, their emphasis on "Mind and Body Healing" is readily apparent in every detail of the establishment: The lights are low and calming. The space is a modern minimalist design, that, as another yelper said, "seems to slow down time" (but not in a, listening to a horribly long speech at the state house sort of way) The staff are brilliant, unassuming and down to earth (a hard hat trick to pull off) Exhale spa provides spa treatments, yoga classes and massages. The last of which my friends bought an hour of for me. I had a Fusion Masage! Quoting from their web site: "Combining the best of therapeutic massage practices from around the world, this Swedish-based therapy uses specific rhythmic massage movements and potent herbal and aromatherapy oils, which enhance the therapeutic effect. Choose from an uplifting, detoxifying or relaxing blend." It was all these things and more!!! Now, a good massage can not, unfortunately, cure all ills ("What? I am still a state employee...damn!") but it can make you forget about bad things for a while. And this my massage did well! And the Amenities (I just love the word "amenities", don't you?) in the locker room are too die for: expensive towels, giant Lighted "Rock star" Mirrors (that even make me look good) name brand sandals, luxurious flowing Robes, Keils quality soap and shampoo, Tropical rain showers, out of this world steam room and sauna (You say to yourself "Your not in Kansas anymore!" Or the YMCA!) I could go on and on. Minus one star because on the way out I looked at the prices to see what my friends paid and immediately felt very guilty (but guilt is good: it is what keeps us ethical) $125-160 is too much for a one hour massage! But 5 stars for my friends: Brian, Kevin, PJ and Mike! Thanks Guys, for always being there for me (particularly for this last year +). You are all the best! Ps. and a special thanks to my Yelp Friend Nicole Z http://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=cdSIV-nIcJ9Sc9YoOLEKkg who I am pretty sure was the one who told Brian about this Place and looks much better then me in Blue Body Paint (see photo) read more

I had an excellent massage, however, when I realized I had left my Michael kors watch in the locker not even an hour after I left, I called and spoke to DJ. DJ told me that his manager was going to look in the locker and that he would call me back. Not only did I wait 12 minutes, before I had to call back, but the manager didn't even look anywhere beyond the locker. It was excuse after excuse, the spa attendants were out to lunch blah blah blah. I'm sorry but when you are charging $135 for an hour massage, Id like to think that the customer isn't the one pick pocketing. Im sure based on the looks of the clientele, they would have turned my watch in. i will never go back. Ever. And def double check your locker before you go, for you will never see your belongings if left behind. read more

I've been a regular customer of this particular Exhale outpost for the past couple of months. While my overall reaction has been generally positive, David Magone's PranaVayu classes inspired me to write this review. I followed David from Sports Club/LA (where he teaches just one class a week) for his biweekly PranaVayu Accelerated classes, and have never regretted it for a moment despite the fact that Exhale doesn't have many options for the very cardio-inclined. It's challenging strength and flexibility-wise, and David has an in-depth knowledge of anatomy that really shines in his classes. I feel completely rejuvenated when I walk out, and I look forward to class time all day. That said, I had a facial here that was one of the most sub-par facials I've ever had. There was no music, jarring lighting, and the masks were very basic ones that I could have easily done at home. Even worse, my therapist tried to up-sell other services the entire time. Keep in mind that Exhale charges some of the highest rates for spa services in Boston! Otherwise, the facilities that come with classes and services are great. The hamam is tranquil and luxuriously-appointed, and the well-stocked locker room is always pristine. While other high-end fitness centers like SCLA and Equinox might offer the same, I'll be a loyal customer to Exhale as long as David Magone continues to teach here. read more

This place is amazing. Brand new - everything even still smells new. This studio has eveything the Back Bay location has but better, bigger and newer. I love how open and airy it is. And everything is on the same floor so you don't have to ride in that creepy elevator like you do at the Back Bay location. The front desk staff has been incredibly friendly and helpful every time I've visited and/or called. I took a class on Saturday with Andrea and she is beyond phenomenal. She has a ton of energy and is incredibly knowledgeable. I was also able to take a class with Fred Devito today and it blew my mind. I probably won't be able to walk tomorrow but it was well worth it. Exhale isn't cheap, but you definitely get some amazing classes and amenities for the price you pay. The only downside, for me, is the location. It's not incredibly close to the T, but the walk from North Station is definitely reasonable (especially as the weather warms up). read more

After a week I received a phone call from the manager who left a VM asking if the services went well. I had been busy with work and haven't been feel well, so I hadn't had the the chance to follow up. The manager then emailed me a few days later which I really appreciated her doing. She spoke about the situation with the bubbly and said it was taken care of & it will be refunded. The follow up correspondence proves that this is a 5* establishment. They have professionally handled the situation, and I must tell you again, my massage with Anthony was amaze! Check the space out if you ever want to treat yourself! read more

My coworker had a free pass and took me with her to a Barre class (not-advance). She has been saying great things about this place for the last couple of years she's been a member. I really enjoyed it. Our instructor was Caitlin who was excellent! She memorized my name right away and even though I wasn't a regular she gave me lots of tips and helped me improve during the 1 hour class. I had no idea how hard the class was going to be, but it kicked my butt! Right away I was exhausted. It's great exercise and you really get a lot out of one hour. The facilities were fantastic. Compared to the Y (what I go to) this blew me away. Clean towels, sandals, and bathrobes for everyone to use. A beautiful clean steam room and sauna. Also great lotion, and complimentary tampons, shower caps, etc. in the bathroom. The lockers were great too, you don't need to bring a lock! The staff at the front desk were really nice and helpful. I got my friend (who is a member) to buy me 2 pairs of Exhale socks with the grip footies since members get a 20% off discount on merchandise. For some reason it just took forever for the transaction because I guess not everyone that works there can ring up cash which is what I gave my friend to pay for it. No big deal, but it would have been nice to save that extra 5 minutes of time. The store is nice with all the merchandise and amazing high end beauty products (lotions, oils, candles). [Many of them being cruelty free and vegan] I would def go back if I could afford it. $180 a month is out of my reach (one day maybe..............) and being that I live in Hyde Park this isn't convenient for me to go to every day. But I may do the one week $30 deal just to go try it out more. Such a tease/distraction for me from the usual Y. The clientele is very different than the Y that I go to, I'm pretty sure I was the only person at Exhale with tattoos in our class! But those classes work because everyone in that Barre class had a nice butt! lolz read more

I went to the Exhale Battery Wharf for a manicure/pedicure with Julie. I have to admit that I was really becoming turned off by the spa experience at Exhale based on my visits to the Back Bay location. However; now that I visited Exhale Battery Wharf, I am now a loyal customer once again of the Exhale Spa. As soon as you walk into Exhale Battery Wharf, it is a calm, serene, and open environment. As comparison, Back Bay always feel cramped and and crowded. I also loved that Exhale Battery Wharf had many more nail polish to chose from versus Back Bay. My nail technician was Julie -- she did a fabulous job of doing my nails, used great products, and was also very efficient. If you have not checked out Exhale Battery Wharf ... GO! read more

Patricia Morris on the acupuncture team is outstanding. She is a person who really understands healing. I went to her with crippling knee pain that not only discontinued my marathon training but made walking difficult as well. After one session with her, I could walk again (I had previously been limping). After two sessions with her pain was absent from the affected area. What is more than the absence of pain was that the affected area grew stronger as well. Patricia's bedside manner is patient and kind. She seems to possess an intuitive sense for what is wrong. One of the most refreshing aspects of Patricia's practice, for me as a patient, is the feeling of being understood. This quality brought me to put faith in her ability to facilitate my healing. More than relieve the pain, Patricia has heightened my awareness of the root of my dis-ease, which has resulted in ongoing improvement in my overall health and well being. Good luck! I hope you find relief for what ails you. read more

I go once a month for a massage with Jordan. She is only there 3 days a week, but after about 10 years of getting massages, she is hands down the best in the city. Her technique is exceptional and she is the most enjoyable person to talk with. Generally I prefer to not talk at appointments, but I can't help but enjoy chatting the whole time. It's expensive, but if you've been searching for a place to go where you are never let down, it's worth paying a little more. If you can't get in with Jordan, Nora is also excellent. read more

After arriving from LA the day before and trekking through the freezing weather, walking into Exhale was like arriving at the doors of heaven. It was warm and absolutely beautiful. I came with a classpass and was greeted by the friendly front desk. I don't think I've ever seen a changing room that I could describe as sexy but this one certainly is. The entire place feels brand new and spotless. Now on to the class. Core fusion was a great workout! Caitlin was the instructor and I introduced myself in the beginning of class, I was impressed that she was able to remember my name. I've only taken one barre class prior so was a bit nervous but she was very nice and came around the room multiple times correcting each person's form one at a time. She goes down the line which I liked because you don't feel individually pointed out and targeted. Even though the class was large she took the time to correct everyone's form with almost each area we were working on. I didn't feel intimidated at all. Much of the focus was on core and glutes with a bit of armwork in the beginning. I will be back and I highly recommend this class! read more

I had the most amazing massage experience with Suzanna on my birthday. Exhale had emailed me a 50% deal off any 60-minute treatment to use during my birthday month, which is in it of itself an amazing deal considering most spas and shops typically offer 10-25% off for birthdays. It was my first time at this particular Exhale Spa, in the North End. I scheduled a Flow Massage, but Suzanna personalized my massage experience to fit my body's needs. I was unfortunately about ten minutes late for my appointment, and Suzanna quickly assured me not to worry and pushed back her next client to give me an adequate experience. She did a fantastic job!! I have had many massages in my past, and this was definitely in my top few. Suzanna was so kind and not pushy at all. I definitely recommend her services!!! read more

I had the pleasure of going here with a friend using her guest pass and I was seriously impressed. I try to stay away from overly loquacious Yelp reviews (say "yawn!" anyone?) but this place really deserves a lengthy applause. The facility itself if fabulous. It's immaculate, has great natural light, amazing rain showers, a fully stocked locker room (including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shower caps, mouthwash, face moisturizer, lotion, hair gel, deodorant, hair brushes and combs, hair dryers, curling irons, straightening irons, towels, robes, sandals), with self-locking day-use lockers. Adjacent to the locker room is the "quiet room" with heated aromatherapy neck pillows, a selection of tea, all in a mood-lit relaxation zone. After that there's the Hammam (or Turkish bath) which is seriously luxurious and envelops you in a blanket of heat (if I had visited here in winter I would have never left the Hammam). I took the "Core Fusion Open" course (don't recall the instructor's name). I had never done anything like this before and it was a serious workout. We did lots of tiny little movements with weights or a small playground ball as props. I consider myself pretty fit however this class showed me that Core Fusion is a boss who kicks butt and takes names. My muscles shook during many of the moves and it felt amazing to rock brand-new-to-me exercises. The instructor was very attentive -- watching everyone carefully to ensure proper form and safety. Afterwards, it was a real treat to use said locker room, I truly felt pampered. This place is ultra high-end and comes with an equivalent price tag: around $195/month for access to classes and the spa facility itself. If core fusion is your thing and price is no object, I'd tell you to rock this place. If price is an object, I'd seriously recommend coming to this place to do a class via drop-in ($25 I think) with a girlfriend then luxuriate in the spa locker room, quiet room, and Hammam afterwards. I think this would be a great gift idea for your wife/girlfriend and her bestie. This was seriously and A+ experience. read more

WOOT WOOT! Core Fusion!!!!!! I purchased the "1 week of transformation" for $30 which includes a week of unlimited classes and $25 towards a 60-minute treatment of your choice. I did the Core Fusion class on Monday w/ Nicole and it was amazing! I do yoga and cardio, so I thought this class was going to be a piece of cake. Within the first 10 minutes I was sweating profusely as we utilized the whole room (the mats and the bar along the edges of the room) to work our arms, legs and core. I feel like I'm sore in between my ribs. Yesterday I did the Yoga - PranaVayu Accelerated w/ David and it was also an incredible class. There was more emphasis on strength and flexibility than in other yoga classes. We went at a quicker pace and I feel like I got an incredible workout. Other than the great teachers, this gym/spa has amazing facilities. There's a tranquil vibe throughout the whole place and they provide you with everything you could need - towels, razors, shave gel, shampoo/condish, soap --- even a heated towel rack in every shower! read more

Had a great day of exercise and pampering at Exhale on Battery Wharf. The day started with a Core Barre class, that was challenging, but fun. The class size was about 20 people, and all the equipment provided. The instructor gave hands on guidance to anyone needing assistance. Classes are $25 each, unless you have a membership (or a nice friend who gave you a free pass, like I had!) Then off to the sauna/shower in the nicely appointed locker room. My only complaint is that they do not have a true steam room- instead they have a co-ed room that is warm with humidified air?!?!? Not enough contrast between this and the sauna in my opinion. Towels, robes, slip on shoes, and cosmetic items like shampoo and body wash were provided, and all smelled fantastic. Manicure/pedicure wtih Victoria was great!! She did in 75 minutes what would have taken me a lot longer- perfectly trimmed cuticles, perfectly applied polish. Mani/pedi is $85. Then, one final push with a Core Yoga class. This was a 75-minute class and I enjoyed all but the last 10 minutes. I find it odd when a yoga instructor takes a bunch of yoga newbies and has them attempting a hand-stand or head-stand. Seems a bit aggressive, competitive and "show offy", which is not at all what yoga is about. I was worried someone would get injured and it took the shine off my newly found relaxed zen feeling at the end of class. I liked Exhale Spa enough that I am exploring getting a membership (which is worth it on a monthly basis if you plan to take 2 classes/week at minimum. read more

I went there for the first time recently due to a gift card I received for Christmas. I schedule a 60 minute massage with Suzanna and it was AMAZING. Everything about it was luxurious & relaxing. It's definitely an indulgence because the prices are not cheap, but totally worth it. They really know what they're doing, my back has never felt better than after that massage. I recommend going on a day where you have nothing else planned. After the massage I went in the Turkish sauna -- then there are showers with all of Exhales amazing products. So you can wash your hair, they have razors, blow dryers -- even curling iron's. I think next time I'll bring my make up there and get ready for the night! Everyone was so nice and welcoming. Suzanna even gave me a card for a free class to try which I can't WAIT. As soon as I went in I was already planning my next visit. Such an incredible experience! read more

So first of all, I'll start by saying that everyone I encountered here was incredibly sweet and welcoming. Staff-wise, I think they're doing a great job. However, I got a regular mani/luxe pedi and I just didn't feel like I got what I paid for. Since there was an error on their site regarding what was included in the luxe pedi, the gal at the desk only charged me for a pure pedi which was really nice. But I still spent $65 for a pedicure that average. I barely felt the massage, the chair was uncomfortable and even tho I got a paraffin treatment my feet were still rough. I did tell the woman that since it was my first pedi since February, they'd need some extra attention. Sadly they didn't get it. The mani was fine but not any better than I'd likely do at home. So, like I said, nice staff, but I expect a bit more for those prices read more

Let me start off with saying that this was by far the best girls day I have ever had! I recently got married, and wanted to have a nice relaxing day with my friends and family before a crazy night out on the town. I heard amazing things about exhale, and that they opened a new location in the North End. I went in for a tour before booking and was absolutely blown away. The space is stunning and you feel immediately relaxed upon walking in. The staff could not be friendlier! I am in the customer service business myself, so I am HUGE on this. I was greeted by everyone I saw, and felt very "at home". I was then introduced to Courtney, their group coordinator and sales manager. What a pleasure to work with! She immediately took control making planning quite a busy day completely painless! She was beyond helpful in helping us choose services, and knew exactly what fit our needs. She also suggested taking a core fusion class before our therapies...what a great idea! It was SUCH a hard workout; I wish I started this before my wedding! It was just so much fun and Courtney even took class with us. Definitely check this place out! I could not have been happier (or less stressed!) No bridezilla here! ;) read more
