Excellent service and quality. I was in Boston for the day with my sister, and needed a walk in for two. They had plenty of space and got started immediately. My technician answered all my questions (as I am new to builder gel) and was meticulous in her process, and spotted issues before I did. Terrible. I asked for a gel manicure they charged me $180 then the nail polish completly flaked off the next day on 2 of the nails.

I went in here after a recommendation from a friend but sadly will not return. I had an appointment at 5:45 for a dip manicure but was not seen til 6:15 at that point they started to remove my previous dip and left me for 30+ minutes to the point my skin was feeling irritated from the acetone. Once I was seen they did good cuticle care which was appreciated but the dip was very thick, they shaped my nails crooked, and used regular polish to seal the dip rather than gel. This regular polish then came off after 2 hours and I ended up having to buy a gel kit to seal it. Outstanding. Repeatedly outstanding. I and my two friends have been going to Luxie 1-2 a month for the last few years. We agree no one in Boston does as good of a job for the price. Gel stays solid for up to 3 weeks (and I'm tough on them), even the reg pedi stays chip free until the next appt. And if not they are happy to help. They never balk at any style I request. I've seen a coupes reviews upset at being delayed, I've had to wait but never very long. The place is busy because it is so good. Treat yo self, they are worth it. I am in town for business this week and didn't have the opportunity to get my nails done before leaving. I am so used to my home shop that it's a bit of a gamble to try a new place. I went in on a Monday evening 30 min before closing and they were busy but asked if I could come in the morning. Given this is a business trip I have limited availability but they were able to get me in before opening. Mia got me in and I had enough time to also get a pedicure. This is one of the best pedicures I have gotten. The leg massage was wonderful! Next came a full set dip nails. Mia cleaned up my cuticles before doing the set. You would think everyone would do this but this is the first time I had so much attention to detail. At the end of the application she also did a great hand massage. This was an outstanding experience and I love my nails! On a side note since I got in before opening, I got a bit of a behind the scenes here. These ladies do such a thorough cleaning each morning. I used to come regularly for eyelash extensions from Mary who is a gem and charges reasonably for her service (I think around $80 for refills). I just got my nails done by Loc ($25 gel + $10 removal) and she was extremely sweet and did a very careful job. Tips were by venmo which is easy so you don't need to bring cash. I'd recommend this place to anyone and also suggest booking an appointment during peak hours. read more

Awful! The mani/pedicurist seemed perturbed that I could not understand her. Worse, her ham-handed approach produced cuts on a toe and a finger which both drew blood. No apologies. Moreover, she gave me a French mani without bothering to apply the pink base until I insisted on it. More exasperation on her part, and by translation through another employee, she claimed it wasn't needed because my nails "are already pink." This is not the first time I've had a French manicure; I know how it should be done but shouldn't need to coach her. Unfortunately, the manager was away from the salon during this situation. It's also important to note that I saw no evidence of tools being sanitized between customers. This is especially worrisome considering the cuts I was left with and no attempt to disinfect them. Needless to say, I won't be back. There are plenty of better choices in the North End and elsewhere. If there were an option to give zero stars, I would do so. read more

I live in the neighborhood and have come here several times for pedicures and gel manicures. The nail techs are very nice and my actual nails always look great. However, they have a huge time management problem. I call ahead to make an appointment, and they say "oh yeah no problem come at 2:30!" or whatever time I say I want to come. And then I show up and end up waiting 30 min to an hour. On top of that, because they're overbooking themselves and saying yes to everyone that walks through the door, it's a 50/50 shot that my service is going to be extremely rushed. My last visit I think I got a 30 second massage during my pedicure, and my tech actually left me in the pedicure chair after because she said she had another appointment with another client. Thankfully another tech finished up and did my manicure, but she spent probably 10 minutes on the entire process, gel included. And even with the rushing, I was still in the salon for two hours. They really need to figure out how to manage their time and be honest about wait times and let clients know when is a good time to come in when we call ahead. My advice is to go right at 10am when they open before things get out of control. It's a shame because they really do a nice job when they aren't rushing. read more

The woman burned my nails, nail beds and fingers multiple times with the electric nail filer. My nail beds hurt for 3 days after the manicure c. 3 of my nails already broke -- for a dip manicure that is meant to last 3 weeks! Will never be going back ... so disappointing! read more

With a regular pedi you get a hot towel and hot stones, in addition to a massage. Such a great pampering experience . My pedicure normally lasts 5 weeks with no chipping . My gel manicure a little over 2 weeks before I feel it's time, they rarely chip after 2 weeks. read more

Don't bother making an appointment. Went with a friend for our 6 pm appointment. They started on her at 6:45, and then around seven finally started to come over to me and my friend was nearly done so I told them I just did not want one anymore since I've already been waiting here for an hour. Well.. I am very skeptical about nail salon and this is the reason. My bestie decided at the front desk she wanted a soak off ($10) and gel manicure ($30). As seated the lady completely disregarded and wanted to peel off my nail instead of soak off, took my friend raise her voice to be say don't rip off my nail for her to listen. During the soak off she literally left me at the station to basically take of my acrylic BY MYSELF because she was on the phone and counting her tips. (Not getting a tip from me!) During the manicure decided to take a phone call and cut me and was so rough! So not the best experience.. but I could to some of the ladies cared and were super sweet. This is the best nail salon in the Boston area and so inexpensive! Mary did an amazing job on my gel manicure. I told her what colors I was thinking and she did two different colors layered to get exactly what I wanted. I had my manicure June 4th and they are still in perfect condition over three weeks later (that never happens with gels for me- they always chip or the edges peel after two weeks)- see pic. I've lived in the North End for 4 years and this is the only place I trust to get a mani/pedi!! I come here every other week. They always do an amazing job with cleaning up my nails (they're perfectionists!) and are amazing with gel manicures. They're also great with doing manicures for kids--I've brought some of my students here for manis and they love to make designs for them! Also, I went in today asking if they could make this special design my friend got at another nail bar. It's a hard one with daisies! Great gel polish change. I came in as a walk-in about an hour before closing, and they squeezed me in with no wait even though they looked busy. My gel mani lasted 2 full weeks without chipping--basically as long as I EVER get with my active lifestyle and frequent dish-washing etc. I asked to just get the gel polish done with no extra mani services, and I was in and out in 15 mins. Even when I've booked an appointment I've always had to wait a minimum of 20 minutes--they always over book, so everyone waiting with you has an appointment too. Honestly I'm not sure it's always worth it (some techs are better than others and it doesn't matter who you ask for you get who you get). Good nails but service takes WAY too long! read more

I visited the salon with a friend and got dip w/ tips for the first time. I love the color and the shape of my nails but during the manicure, my technician really went to town with the nail file. The skin around my nails seems to be filed down and they now feel raw and sore hours later. I can physically see indentations and redness where the nail file was over used. I love the way my nails came out but very disappointed with the treatment and hoping the pain doesn't get worse or my nails don't get infected. read more
