She responded quickly and arranged a convenient time. I arrived on time, and she got started right away. Amy is a fantastic conversationalist, which made the visit enjoyable. She asked what kind of haircut I wanted and began cutting. Her approach of cutting for a few minutes and then checking if I liked it worked perfectly. I moved to Boston 6 months ago and needed to find a good local salon. Hairport was the closest place so I decided to try that out first and boy - it was so much better than I could have ever expected! The vibe is super casual, the owner is funny, sharp-witted, and super friendly. I felt welcome and at home immediately. She took me in right away the first time I went - same day. Today I walked in for an eyebrow wax and originally asked for an appointment tomorrow and she was like - actually, just wait a couple minutes if you'd like, I can help you now. Awesome! My haircut and blowout was fabulous! I absolutely loved it. (attaching a photo). My eyebrow wax was perfect. I prefer a more natural brow, just cleaned up a bit, and it was fast, painless, and exactly what I wanted. Plus, their prices are so reasonable! Let me start with the people who work here are really nice but the quality of work is very bad. I had a manicure and pedicure done today, the pedi was ok but the manicure was very bad. They didn't even ask me if I was happy with the results since this is my first time at their salon. Love Hairport! Amy was amazing- so talented, super fast, really funny, and very knowledgeable. A coworker recommended Amy to me when I mentioned I needed a trim. I called and they had availability the next day (that never happens). I arrived a few minutes early and Amy took me right away. She washed, dried, straightened and cut my hair in about 30 minutes! I've never seen my hair this straight or healthy before. I've gotten so many compliments since leaving the salon. I will definitely be back! Plus they take Venmo- so much easier! read more

Amy is a complete artist when it comes to shaping and waxing an eye brow. Never had better in Boston. Good prices and an excellent arch! Also - Grace does truly elegant and gorgeous up dos (had her make my too short bob into what appeared to be a french twist (she used some kind of magic to make that happen) for a formal gala last winter - totally outstanding. I have been coming to Hairport for well over 15 years. Amy is phenomenal, she's experienced, friendly and honest. Her ability to feel at home is what has created an incredibly long list of loyal customers who like me refuse to go anywhere else. The prices are fair and what you expect to pay for in the city. The place is a good size offering hair, pedicures, manicures and waxing. I will also give kudos to Grace who is an excellent stylist and is the one who typically cuts my hair. If you are looking for the pretention and glitz of a Newbury Street salon, Hairport is not for you. However, if you want GREAT services with a fun and knowledgeable staff, it is the the only place! I've been coming to Hairport for years, referred to by a friend and have thanked her many times for it. Amy and Grace, simply put, do great hair! My color and cuts are exactly what I want, which is hilarious since I often can't describe EXACTLY what I want! :) Waxing is a quick and easy process, Amy is a wiz. Manis and pedis are great too. I'm telling you, stop compromising and paying ridiculous amounts of money for subpar services. Try Hairport! Best blowout ever! Nicest and most talented team in Boston : ). Amy (and Amy 2) and Grace do a fantastic job of brightening my day and making me look good : )! Amy is literally the only person to ever give me a blowout that lasted more than a few hours. She is magical - can't be explained by modern science. Quick (30 minutes) and always looks on point and I get mad compliments even walking down the street : ) - lasts 2 days min (my hair is crazy curly). "Amy 2" does super cute manicures/ pedicures and makes me laugh (and helps me pick out colors and solve life's problems). Grace remains my favorite updo genius - she recreated some WW2 liberty rolls in my hair for a show this year that were to die for and really completed my look. Love these girls - nice small neighborhood place with very reasonable prices and a warm and inviting atmosphere. Convenient to the North End and the prices are competitive. read more

I live super close by and always walk past Hairport, which looks very casual from the outside. I needed a trim really bad, and decided to give it a try since they could take me same day, which is hard to come by these days! I had an appointment with Amy who took me as soon as I walked in and throughly washed, cut and blew dry my hair (the way I like it too, not all foofy and turned out) in less than 30 minutes. It has honestly been the best haircut and blow dry I've had in a longgggg time, maybe ever. Usually I have to go home and re-style it, but it looked perfect leaving the salon. Not to mention, she is hilarious and a pleasure to talk to while your getting your hair done. 10/10 would recommend! read more

Both Grace and Amy are excellent hair stylists. They also do such a good job with blowouts- I always leave my haircuts feeling like a supermodel and wishing I could do the same to my hair at home! Overall this place is good. I wanted to try a place that's a block from where I live. I usually go to Hair Cuttery in Cambridge and it takes forever to get there and back so wanted a place more local. I had to wait about 15 minutes after showing up for my scheduled appointment. I don't know if it was Amy or Grace who did my hair but she did a good job. She was thorough in making sure it was even and asked my opinion before chopping away which I appreciated. It took a little long to cut and style my hair, about 45 minutes which I thought was a little long for just a trim and blow dry. It was also a bit painful when she was styling my hair - I think it was the brush she used. I paid $50 including tip which I thought was ok considering it's Boston and that's pretty reasonable for an independent hair salon, but still thought $35 would have been more reasonable. They were very nice and my hair looked great in the end!! read more

Horrible haircut. Very sloppy for no reason. 10/10 would not recommend to a friend. The shop was not busy and the woman cutting my hair was going extremely fast and left my cut very sloppy and her actions were negligent. Not quality service what so ever. To top it off, it was an expensive haircut even for Boston standards. I will not be back in and will highly recommenced no one spend money here. read more

I created a Yelp account for the sole purpose of writing this review. For two years now, I've been going to the Hairport. As much as it's about the perfect haircuts I get every time I go, it is also about the enthusiasm and fun/humor they bring to the table. Grace and Amy are both fantastic. This place is a major gem in the city, I don't know about the other services they offer, but the man's haircut is an A+ and at $20 it is a bargain for the whole package you get. Hell, forget the shrink, just go to Grace or Amy and they will solve all your problems, for cheaper too. read more

Amy can cut men hair as good as she cuts women hair. I am an Asian man and my hair is very thick, straight and stubborn. It's extremely difficult to find someone who can cut this style of hair, and I can confidently say Amy does it well. Awful!!! I went once because it is across the street from where I live. I will NOT be going back! The stylist I had, never introduced herself, but was friendly. I was in the chair for all of 10 minutes and it cost $25. Horrible! The place is very loud, especially the owner, and very messy. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this place! read more

I was in Boston staying with my sister who was attending a conference, and in need of a haircut. Hairport is a short walk from the Long Wharf area where we were staying. Grace was the stylist who washed, cut and dried my hair. She was lovely, friendly and my cut was excellent. The salon is pleasant and staff are vey nice and provided ideas for dining as well locally, when I asked! I am in Boston for this event annually in December, and now that I know about this salon and Grace, I will definitely plan to return. Affordable, great service and friendly. read more
