The regular drip coffee is a must! The coffee bean is flavorful! The downfall are the ones taking your order. When I ordered a latte -- it was waaay to sweet. You could barely taste the coffee. I gave this place multiple chances. Each time I ordered my drink -- they made me feel like taking my order was a burden. Mind you I'm getting my coffee before my shift in the hospital, I'm not requesting a full on conversation but just decency. This place had potential, but there were several problems: -I searched all of the metal utensils for a clean set, and they all had finger prints and food remnants on them; they weren't washed properly. -There were flies buzzing around me, landing on me and the food. -The music they had playing was perfectly nice, but when mixed with the music the guy in the open kitchen was playing, the sonic environment was a special kind of torture that you get when two musics are clashing. I wish Superba was... better. I live in the neighborhood and would love to hang around here to grab a coffee, catch up on work, or meet a friend. As it is, I'm usually not enticed to choose it over any of the cafes further away. The coffee is decent. Not great but good enough to pop in. The food is pretty mediocre. And I really don't understand why there aren't more vegetarian and vegan options. This is LA... The two pros (and the only reasons for the 4 stars) are a) the space is beautiful, bright, comfortable seating, never too noisy, and b) you can order bread and pastries from the bakery to pick up fresh the next morning. read more

Found this place by chance on a rainy Sunday when our favorite brunch spots were packed with crazy wait times. So glad we stopped in! The staff is incredibly friendly & kind. They made me a London Fog tea latte though it wasn't on the menu - with house made vanilla syrup no less. Our drinks were delicious, the food was hot & tasty, served fast. This is one of our go-to Sunday brunch spots. Excellent food and service. Avo toast is well seasoned with thinly sliced radishes and micro-greens; hearty and satisfying! Egg burrito is incredibly tasty! -- daughter's favorite. I love the egg sandwich with crispy bacon, eggs and cheese. Tater tots make an excellent potatoey side, amazingly light. Ordered my wife the breakfast sandwich from here to go. Unfortunately I'll never be going back here again. My wife said that breakfast sandwiches was tasty but had way too many radishes That said, my main reason for the low score is the service...let me lay out what happend: I walk into the place exactly at our pick up time after having to struggled to find parking in their too small for most cars parking lot and I see a line of about 8 people ordering. I wait there for a few minutes until I see 2 people go directly to the side counter for what appears to be take out pick up. I then move behind those people. The lady in front of me is having a conversation about her take out order with an Asian lady who appears to be the manager (not the barista). And while she's talking I hear the manager say they'll remake something just to wait. So the lady in front of me moves aside. This whole think is about after 15 minutes of waiting. When the lady movies aside I see them put down a bag on the take out counter... I promptly move forward and see my full name on it. I pick up the bag and as I grab it the Asian lady/manager yells at me in front of the staff and patrons and says "excuse me sir!!! What do you think you're doing!?!?" I nicely respond "I'm picking up my take out order"...she looks perplexed and I continue to respond pointing at the ticket on the bag, " see right here it has my full name on it"... she then goes oh ok....and I walk out. The whole incident left me a bit unsettled and perplexed. The only explanation I think think of is that she thought I was stealing someone else's food.... keep in my it was a $15 sandwich and I was wearing a $12K watch... not sure how she thought I'd steal a sandwich. End result I think this location needs better processes and labeling for take out orders and they need to train their staff on friendly customer service. read more

This place is AMAZING. I thought I had already written a review about this place but I guess I haven't! I discovered this place sometime in the summer of 2021. I found this place because I was looking for a dog-friendly lunch place to eat after taking my 3-pound Yorkie puppy on a hike. Parking is free and easy since they have their own private lot. The last time I went, the lot was full so we parked on the street instead. We usually come here for lunch on the weekends. They're getting pretty popular but we were always able to find a seat every time we came here. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and your dog to welcome in both. Their food is really good - fresh, tasty, and very flavorful! I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order on their menu. Their Vegan Chocolate Chunk Cookie is to-die-for. The sea salt on top of it really brings something special to the flavor. Have not tried their original but I can't imagine it being bad. I also get their lemonade whenever I come here. It's really sweet, which is how I like my lemonade. The first dish I've ever tried here - and the only dish I ever order now - is the Umami Salmon Bowl. When I first discovered it, I came back twice that same weekend to get it. I've even tried getting it twice in one day but they had run out. The sauce is incredible. I usually ask for two now. Small parking area that I imagine would fill up quickly Overall vibe of the place is Insta-hipster with that I'm-so-rich-I-don't-care attitude. It's so hipster-feeling that I'm a little surprised they don't sell boxed water. For the pricepoint of all their items, I'm also really surprised they don't at least offer minimal table service. They even have 2 signs above their trash that says, "do you bus tables?" and underneath that "yes" - insert arrow pointing to trash can - indicating for you to bus your own table. I don't know about everyone else, but it seems a bit condescending to me b/c I know to throw out my own trash. But I will say that people might not notice the trash because it's hidden in this minimalistic design with a hole the size of a Kleenex tissue box. That sign they currently have makes Starbucks and Panera look like customer service superstars by having the word "trash" or a little etched image of a person throwing away trash. As for the food, I got the koign amann ($4.50) and cheddar chive biscuit ($3). Spanish latte w/ oat milk ($6.50) was decent, although the foam took up 1/5 of the 12oz cup. Overall, it's good. Customer service is nothing to write home about. The dining area is beautiful and very airy feeling. There is free wifi. But beware, the cushioned seats are stained. Either way, they serve up cute portions of breakfasty foods and coffee. It errs more on the healthy side of food and that's not entirely bad (I personally enjoy grease and atherosclerotic foods for breakfast but this is nice once in a while). So enjoy a breakfast sandwich or a bowl along with some coffee or something. It's certainly not a big cafe but it's quaint and there's enough parking in the back for you to not pull any hairs out. Parking: Sufficient amount of parking spots but the lot entrance and lot itself is a bit small. Food: My favorite dish at superb is the salmon bowl - so healthy and tastes sweet and savory! I've also tried one of the breakfast sandwiches and that was delicious as well, though a bit smaller than I expected. As a matcha lover, their Matcha Americano gets an A+ from me. - Matcha Tea - Black Sesame Milk Shake - Breakfast Sandwich - Umami Salmon Bowl - Biscuit Sandwich Ambiance: I find it difficult to find long-term study spots in Pasadena because of parking constraints. But Superba is a pretty good place to get some work done in the area. They have wifi but no outlets so bring your laptop fully charged. It's pretty quiet since it's more of a cafe than a restaurant. I also love that one entire wall is a glass door/window (which is usually open). This brings more light into the space and makes you feel refreshed from the breeze! read more

Wifey and I came here on a Wednesday @ 11am for a latte and quick bite. She got the Spanish Latte and I just got a regular latte. She liked hers, mine was ok. The cheesy egg toast was something different for us and we enjoyed it. We just moved to Pasadena so still exploring restaurants and coffee shops. This place was ok, I've been to better coffee shops in the area though. The vibe was chilled, they had punk jazz playing. Music was a little too loud for my liking and you'd need to talk a little louder if you brought company. If you like to have your coffee in a quiet and relaxing setting, this isn't your spot. I'm spending the next few months looking for a few coffee shops I'll frequent, but I don't think this one will make my list. Nothing bad about the place, but just isn't my style. Woot first meal/review of 2022 and superba was the perfect place to go! We stopped by on a weekend and it wasn't too busy. They have a lovely seating area that is an open concept so it's really just a patio with lots of natural light. Plenty of seats for you to choose from so easy enough to social distance. We ordered the veggie breakfast biscuit and the breakfast burrito. Superba is definitely a "hip" place so prices are a little steep but damn was it good. I was expecting something like a McDonald's egg McMuffin (idk why) for the breakfast biscuit but it was SOO good--the biscuit was lightly and fluffy and just melted in your mouth. Even though it was close to $10 I would 100% get it again. As for the burrito, the cheese infused tortilla really hit the spot and the sauces paired great. Overall, would recommend especially if you're finding a place to work/study! Environmental impact: 2/5. They use a lot of paper when they package your stuff to-go and automatically include plastic utensils (which we just gave back). They also use plastic straws and I know I said this place is hip but the plastic straws are not "hip". read more

Cute space with limited seating. You order up at the counter and grab a seat. The 4 of us came here on a Sunday afternoon. My son ordered the umami salmon bowl, I got the cheesy egg toast, and hubs got the tuna nicoise sandwich. Little girl was asleep the whole time. The salmon bowl was delightful, my husband enjoyed his tuna sandwich. But I was less than thrilled about my cheesy egg toast. My husband makes cheesy eggs frequently for breakfast, so he set the bar high. He tried my toast and felt the same. I also got the mushroom latte and it was fine. One thing that also contributed to me finding my sandwich unappealing was my view. I sat in the direction of the trash can, which was overflowing with people's discards. People could see it was overflowing, but they still kept dumping away when there's another trash can (albeit smaller) just across the way by the coffee station. By the end of our meal, someone did finally take out the trash. Some items dropped, which made some noise. The worker looked at me with regret as he saw I had a sleeping child. So, he was thoughtful :) I would not thoughtfully return, but if someone wanted to come here, I would not object. read more

It was a bit cramped with seating since tables/chairs were all super close to each other, but otherwise a charming place for breakfast. My fiance and I were both not fans of the espresso beverages. They tasted weak and diluted, and did not have much flavor once we added milk into them. Unfortunately, not worth the price. Food, however, exceeded our expectations. My fiance liked the breakfast sandwich, especially the toasted brioche and fluffy/gooey scrambled eggs inside. It's one of the better ones he's had. I thought the ricotta and peach jam toast was amazing! The ingredients sounded like they were randomly thrown together, but together, they blew my mind. Chicken black kale caesar salad was also refreshing and light, and filled us up without issue. Overall, I am definitely coming back and bringing my dog next time! read more

We came here for lunch today after reading reviews about the madeleines and the baked french toast (which unfortunately isn't offered anymore :/). SNACKS: We ordered the madeleines (5/5), which were made fresh to order and topped with a nice sprinkling of powdered sugar. I read another review which compared the madeleines to Hong Kong egg waffles and honestly didn't believe that comparison could ever be true. After trying the madeleines, I couldn't have been more wrong. The outside was crispy and light with a fluffy and airy interior. There's a slight hint of lemon zest flavor with the madeleines. I normally don't like lemon flavored pastries, but this flavor was perfect and didn't overpower the rest of the madeleine. I also ordered the chocolate chunk cookie (5/5), which was perfectly crispy and topped with chunky sea salt. This cookie was so bomb & I'll for sure be coming back for it again. Matcha Latte - 2/5. For $6, the drink was mostly ice and milk. We could barely taste the matcha and will not order this again. FOOD: Umami Salmon - 5/5, $13.50. The bowl included a salmon filet, kale, a whole baked sweet potato, and a sweet garlic ponzu/soy dressing over brown rice. It was hearty and filling without feeling heavy. The salmon was perfectly cooked, tender, and flakey. Breakfast burrito - 3/5. The burrito had cheese fried onto one side of the outside of the tortilla and came with 2 sauces, a green yogurt sauce and a red hot sauce (I love spicy food and this sauce is at around a medium range). My boyfriend said the burrito was pretty mid and not memorable. Overall, the baked goods and bowls are the move when you come to Superba. The beverages are overpriced and we'll probably be looking for caffeine elsewhere, but we'll definitely be back for the snacks! read more

Their arugula and chicken salad is shockingly delicious for being such a simple dish. The lemon dressing is super light and "summery" and it has so much chicken in it. Best $12 salad I have had. Their cold brew is alright.... I have had much better and I have had way worse. The only thing that really sucks here are the chairs! They have these wicker basket chairs that leave temporary indentations on your butt. I don't know if this is a sneaky way to prevent people from lingering here too long but it worked! read more
