My friends and I are always looking for places that offer xiaolongbao (XLB) and when my friend VL suggested Super Dumpling in Orange, we went to check it out in early March 2025. The restaurant is brightly lit and we were able to get seated right away. It is located in the shopping center that was once home to the now shuttered Orange Mall (near the Crumbl Cookies and Home Goods). We were seated and like most places, they offer you a slip of paper to mark off the different items you want to try. I will note that this location did not offer any pork XLB, which I thought was interesting. My friends and I opted for: * Crab Beef Xiao Long Bao - good, different! * Chicken Xiao Long Bao - not as exciting as I had wanted * Shrimp Siu Mai * Spicy Chicken Wontons - always a winner * Cucumber Salad (just OK - felt like they are more garlicky at other places) * Vegetable Pan Fried Dumplings (really flavorful!) Overall, while the dumpling skins are not nearly as paper thin, and I did find myself wishing that I had some classic pork XLB, this was a solid location to get your fix. My friend and I went, and we ordered all sorts of dumplings. My favorite has to be the pan-fried beef buns, which are fried and crispy at the bottom, and the bun was soft at the top. Inside is a sweet, savory broth that compliments the meet filling well. A close second for me were the spicy chicken wontons! The food came out pretty quickly, and the dishes all came out steaming. The menu is comparable to DTF but the portion is much larger and price tag is way more reasonable. Everything tasted above average but our favorite was the pan-dried beef dumplings! We love Super Dumpling! Some of our favorites are the chicken fried noodles, pan fried chicken dumplings, steamed chicken dumplings, and the chicken xiao long bao. You can taste the high quality ingredients and freshness in all of their food. Also, they're halal! This place is always full of people, but we have never had to wait more than a few minutes for a party of 2. They're also cleaner than most restaurants in my opinion. I decided to go here on a rainy night because I wanted some warm comfort food. It wasn't really busy and I waited maybe 5 minutes. I sat down and was given a paper to select every food item I wanted, kind of like how you order at a sushi restaurant. I've been on the hunt for a good Chinese restaurant that serves soup dumplings without pork since I don't eat it, and that's honestly been harder to find than I expected. So when I came across a TikTok video about Super Dumpling, which serves Halal Chinese food, I was really excited finally a place where I could enjoy pretty much anything on the menu! We decided to make the 30-minute drive, and upon arrival, we were seated right away. The restaurant wasn't too busy, and the service was excellent from the start our server was attentive, quick with refills, and even gave us his recommendations. The space was also very clean and nicely kept, which I appreciated. Now, the reason for the three stars comes down to the food quality and pricing. For starters, I ordered what most people on TikTok recommended the beef and crab soup dumplings. I also took our server's suggestion and added the spicy chicken wontons, shrimp fried rice, and a beef and vegetable entrée (which I believe was the broccoli beef). I also ordered a Thai tea, since it was popular among other diners. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to the rave reviews I had seen. The Thai tea was the first thing to arrive, and it was extremely sweet almost undrinkable. I asked if it could be made less sweet, and the server brought back the same cup with more milk added. It helped slightly, but it was still way too sweet for my taste. Next came the shrimp fried rice. Presentation wise, it looked beautiful, but the flavor was bland and underwhelming. I had to ask for sweet and sour sauce to give it some life. For the price, I expected a more generous portion of shrimp we only counted about 5-6 pieces, which felt like a bit of a letdown. The beef and vegetable dish (my husband's order) was actually the best thing we tried. The flavor was spot on, but the texture of the meat wasn't great it felt a bit off, almost like it had been boiled or wasn't the best quality cut. It didn't come with rice either, which we had to order separately. Then came the highly anticipated soup dumplings. My husband thought they were decent and rated them 5/10. For me, they were more of a 3/10 the flavor just didn't hit right. The spicy chicken wontons were okay in texture, but again, they were lacking in flavor and definitely not as spicy as expected. Overall, Super Dumpling isn't a terrible restaurant, and I do appreciate that it's Halal and has a wide range of options. The service was wonderful, and the restaurant itself was spotless and comfortable. But for the high prices, I expected much better flavor and consistency. Maybe we just came on an off day, or maybe it's just not for us but personally, I don't see myself returning. Hey, Orange! I'm excited to share that our city is seeing a surge of authentic Asian cuisines, and I'm so glad I stopped by Super Dumpling this afternoon! While I wouldn't directly compare it to Din Tai Fung, as a neighborhood dumpling spot, it's definitely at the top of my list. The restaurant is new, and the interior is modern and clean--bright and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal. I especially loved the open kitchen where you can watch the chefs skillfully prepare the dumplings. When you visit, you absolutely must try their dumpling dishes. I sampled the crab and beef xiao long bao, along with spicy chicken wontons. I also ordered the cucumber salad and sesame balls. Everything arrived piping hot--seriously, be careful not to bite into the dumplings right away; they were scalding! Patience is key here. The cucumber salad was served cold and was incredibly refreshing, perfectly complementing the dumplings. I enjoyed the sesame balls as well; I appreciated that they weren't drenched in oil, and the red beans inside weren't overly sweetened. Super Dumpling also offers a fantastic lunch special menu, so I'm looking forward to returning and trying more of their offerings soon. This review is primarily about our server, Joy, and the restaurant's attitude toward Muslims who go there to break their fast during Ramadan. I'm not surprised by so many reviews of her rude behavior. I have been coming here since it opened and have brought family and friends, which is why this experience was especially disappointing and embarrassing, as I recommended this restaurant to my aunt. We arrived for Iftar at 6:00 PM, an hour before 7:01 PM. As soon as I walked in, Joy dismissively said we couldn't be seated because my full party wasn't there. I offered to wait and put my name on the Yelp waitlist, but she walked away, leaving me to ask another staff member for help. I was the first and only one on the list. At 6:20 PM, I returned with my aunt and politely asked to sit inside since it was warm and we were fasting. The restaurant was mostly empty, but Joy refused, saying only customers actively ordering could sit inside and fasting guests must sit outside. I was dumfounded as nearly all tables were empty. She eventually allowed us to sit outside, insisting fasting guests stay there. When my aunt tried to ask a question, Joy interrupted mid-sentence with a blunt "no" without listening. We wanted to know if we could move inside when we ordered, but the manager insisted we stay outside, even though booths remained empty. I told her to let my aunt finish her sentence before responding so rudely. Unfortunately, Joy was our server. She ignored us the entire time while being cheerful to others. She rushed us with drinks and food orders, didn't confirm what we ordered, and seemed uninterested in serving us. By 7:20 PM, after Iftar had begun, other tables who ordered at the same time had their food while we had not. We requested a new server and were thankfully assisted by a very kind gentleman. What made the situation worse was that after the change in servers, Joy's behavior became even more noticeably louder and cheerful to other tables to get us to hear. She loudly thanked the table behind us for their patience while pointing in our direction at the table next to us, which felt unnecessary and unprofessional. We decided her pettiness will get her one day, and if it helped her sleep at night, good for her. We enjoyed our food and left. To be clear, we have had Joy as our server many times before and have always been patient and understanding even when mistakes were made in the past. She has dropped a bowl of green beans on one of us wearing white pants before, and we said mistakes happen. She has also dropped water on me, which I laughed off. Joy, if you read this, we too have been very patient with you. The attitude and treatment we received from the initial interaction until the end this time were completely uncalled for. Management should also take responsibility. If staff are instructed not to seat fasting customers indoors until they are actively ordering, that policy needs reconsideration--especially at a halal restaurant during Ramadan. On a hot day, with an empty dining room, it is reasonable to accommodate guests who plan ahead and arrive early to break their fast. It was actually quite discriminatory to tell Muslims who support your business to sit outside until it's time to break fast, especially when many tables were available. You are not a fast-food restaurant and take time to bring out food. Guests should be able to sit earlier where we want--if space is available--so our food is ready when it's time for Iftar. Further, there are many negative reviews specifically about Joy on Google. I reconsidered writing a review but, after seeing this is an ongoing issue, I decided to post my experience. Better customer training is needed for employees. The chicken was flavored better than the beef. :: Chicken Steamed Dumplings: These were pretty good ! I loved the flavor & there was a good amount of chicken inside. :: Beef Fried Noodle: I mainly ordered these for my toddler - who gobbled them up ! I discovered this restaurant through a Facebook page and decided to give it a try. We usually go to Maas Chinese for our halal Chinese food, but we wanted something different. We visited on a Sunday night, and the place was packed. We didn't expect a long wait, but as a party of eight, we ended up waiting for about 20 minutes. The restaurant was bright and welcoming. We chose to sit in the outdoor area. While the menu didn't have hundreds of options like a typical Chinese restaurant, it was well-curated. We ordered orange chicken, hot and sour soup, Mongolian beef, chicken fried rice, and pan-fried dumplings. Since the portion sizes were small, we also ordered walnut shrimp and more fried rice. The food was excellent and worth the wait. The orange chicken was perfectly balanced, not too sweet with just the right amount of tanginess. The Mongolian beef and walnut shrimp were also great. While they specialize in dumplings, the menu offers a variety of options such as buns, wings, chicken, and fried rice. We were immediately seated and helped upon entering. The interior is very nicely arranged and there is plenty of seating; it's like a happy medium between fast food and a proper dine-in restaurant. There is ample parking too. Food-wise, the orange chicken and Mongolian beef were the main stars. The beef was so tender, some of the most tender I've ever had, and the seasoning was perfect. There was a rush when we got seated, but he still made sure we ordered our items promptly. I noticed he remained calm and handled all his tables well. We started with the sauteed green beans and they were soooo good. These were finished so fast haha. It had so much flavor - garlic, soy sauce & chili. I loved that they give you good sized portions and that they put cilantro on it. The orange chicken may be the best orange chicken I've had - no cap. It came out steaming with the right seasoning. I don't like spots where the orange chicken is very orange-y like orange peel tasting, this was not that. It was sweet but also tangy! The chicken was good texture as well. I like the beef pan fried bun because you get the softness and crunchiness of the outside. The beef inside was juicy and onion forward. It was juicyyyyy because there was a ton of soup in it. My friends and I were excited to try this since one of our friends eats halal and whenever we go to din tai fung, of course she doesn't eat the meat. So when we found this spot we knew we had to try it. This place is amazing, recently opened. The interior is modern and beautiful, everything is spotless. Open kitchen where dumplings are made to order. Great service love the pink aprons they are wearing. Pan fried dumplings are a must, I have never tried anything like it. The bottom is super crunchy, top is soft, lots of soup and meat inside, very hot so you will wit for a bit, make a small hole on top to allow for faster cooling. The depth of flavor and levels texture are amazing. Veggie noodles supper fresh, the other soup dumplings excellent. Please give this place a try and you will be back. read more

Happy I got to try this new restaurant. It was surprisingly packed for a Tuesday night at 8pm. We had to wait 20 min for a table. It's in the same plaza as Walmart/Home Goods so I walked around there for a bit before our table was ready. As soon as you get seated, there's a QR code on the table. You use your phone to place your order. Drinks: Thai tea- 4/5. Good but my whole cup was ice! I felt ripped off on this one. A few sips and I was done Jasmine milk tea- 5/5 really good Food: Cucumber- 2/5 -- cucumbers were crispy but it lacked flavor. Very bland Orange chicken and mapo tofu - 5/5 highly recommend. Very flavorful and delicious Beef and broccoli- 5/5 very impressed how they made broccoli taste so good! Chicken dumpling- 1/5. Was not good. Filling super dry Chicken xlb- 3/5: very strong white pepper flavor but the skin and soup inside were good Beef pan fried bun- 2/5: I think it was more hyped up than what it actually is. The beef filling was super dry like a solid piece of meat instead of being luscious. The bottom on the bun tasted like old oil. I didn't like this one. Service: there's basically almost no service. You order your food yourself and it's brought out to you. If you need something, it's hard to flag down a waiter. When you pay for the bill, the default is also set to 20% tip which is a far stretch for the lack of service you'll get. read more

I could probably write a story on the growth of Orange's food scene. I didn't think it could get any better with the recent openings of El Matatan and Koobikland, but here I am already giving my high praises to another new establishment. TLDR Super Dumpling is amazing and I highly recommend coming here for the shrimp shumai, beef pan fried dumplings, and mapo tofu. So to start off, this is a new restaurant located in the same complex as Walmart and other fast food to fast casual chains. You wouldn't expect something this good to be here, but it's in my experience not a super high traffic center so I'm sure the rent was really reasonable. Either way, prices here are good and the quality of the food is super high. The restaurant itself is really interesting, going for a retro 60s / 70s diners vibe with modern elements, and surprisingly really classical music you would normally hear at a high end Michelin restaurant. Somehow the mix and mash of styles works, and the restaurant itself feels more high end than it has any right being. Now for the good stuff, the food here is spectacular. It might have some of the best shrimp shumai I have ever had in the OC area, and the beef pan fried dumplings are also stellar. If you've ever been to that one restaurant, little pan fried bun (think this has been renamed recently), basically this place blows that out of the water. Its so good and for the style they do for the beef pan fried dumplings, nothing in the immediate area comes close. The other dumpling dishes are good, but it's not necessarily the best as yum dumpling, seven graham, etc will do certain dumpling and xlb better, though it is still done very well here. The one surprising dish I had was the mapo tofu, I love Sichuan food and I was surprised at how authentic it was here. A little more on the beefy side but it still has that fantastic numby peppercorn kick that I love, highly recommend. I also want to highlight the drinks here and note that alot are too sweet for my liking, but stand outs were the jasmine milk tea (not too sweet) and the lychee soda. The lychee soda is KILLER and probably the best drink on their entire drink menu. Service is actually super good, Im not sure if the male server is the owner but he does a fantastic job along with his staff. I've been here several times and never had to wait too long for orders to be taken, food to be served, or waters to be refilled. Overall, this place is amazing and I'm so impressed with the food scene in Orange. Another killer restaurant to add to the 10 mile proximity of amazing restaurants in this area. If you want spectacular dumplings, are looking for a new spot, or are just in the area and need something solid, I 100% couldn't recommend Super Dumpling enough. read more

I went to It's Super Dumpling and honestly loved everything on the menu. The chicken and fried noodles were super flavorful, and the dumplings? Absolutely on point -- fresh, juicy, and cooked perfectly. This place is totally underrated. Great portions, reasonable prices, and super friendly staff. It feels like one of those spots you randomly find and immediately want to tell everyone about (but also kinda keep it to yourself ). Highly recommend if you're in the area and craving dumplings or solid comfort food. I'll definitely be back! read more

Loved Loved Loved!! We tried chicken dumplings..superb..the shrimp dumplings were out of this world..freshly made to order...the spring rolls were also very fresh and crispy crunchy but not greasy..excellent service..very clean decor .all white tables (I kept cleaning every little speck off my table ) and very spacious place..Totally a do over for sure!
