Delicious food! My daughter and I came by to try several of their dishes. We started with the steamed bread with condensed milk. This was interesting. The bread was like their steamed buns, but without the filling. It comes with condensed milk for dipping and was a nice lightly sweet treat. We also ordered the spicy chicken wontons, Honey Walnut Shrimp, pan fried beef dumplings and chicken fried rice. Every single dish was hot and flavorful. The garlic green beans were so yummy and crunchy, the cucumber salad was tangy and cold which is my favorite way to eat a cucumber salad. If you want a Din Tai fix but don't have the time or want to travel in this area ... Super Dumpling is a good alternative. The seating is both indoor and outdoor and is always busy as least the 3 times I've been. The only thing I don't like is they tend to leave the door between indoor and outdoor dining propped open. I know they tend to do it because the servers frequent back and forth, but when it's cold outside it makes it for a very uncomfortable dining experience. I will say the staff accommodated by closing it when asked but they should make it a point to keep it closed even if it makes opening and closing the door while serving a bit inconvenient for them. Sadden to say this place wasn't what I expected. I do anticipate giving this place another try but my first impression wasn't the best. The restaurant itself is very clean and I loved the overall white design. Upon arriving, there was a line but no host to really provide instructions on what to do to check in. They had a tablet on the side of the host table where you had to check in via Yelp (also you couldn't do it through the actual app?) and you just had to wait until you got your text confirmation that your table is ready. Basically a self-serve check in area with no clear signs. Multiple people had to wait just to talk to someone if they were interested in ordering take out, no clear instructions on how to do that either. Upon getting our "table is ready text", my friend and I walked into the restaurant and once again had to wait to have a host talk to us. One of the servers just looked at me and yelled at me to check in through the tablet but once I told her I had already done so and showed her confirmation of my text, she just pointed at a near by empty table and said to "sit". Another host then came and just put the menu at our table but no further guidance provided nor welcome greeting. My friend and I ordered a few of their menu items such as: 1. Cucumber salad - 5/10, not horrible but wouldn't say to die for plus the presentation was a bit upsetting. 2. Crab Beef Xiao Long Bao - 1/10, we were looking forward to these soup dumplings but the combination of beef and crab ... was not what we expected. We ate only two and couldn't finish the rest. 3. Great service love the pink aprons they are wearing. Pan fried dumplings are a must, I have never tried anything like it. Seeing the chefs working through the clear glass window excited new because that shows that their food is made fresh to order. I wanted to eat light today so only ordered vegetarian dishes. The dumpling was perfectly salty with a slight hint of sweetness. Dipping it in their sauce made it perfect. It came out steaming hot (which is how I love it). The stir fried noodle though looks simple has punches of flavor in each bite and if you love garlic that stir fried broccoli garlic is paired with that flavor along with salt. Everything is 10/10. I could probably write a story on the growth of Orange's food scene. I didn't think it could get any better with the recent openings of El Matatan and Koobikland, but here I am already giving my high praises to another new establishment. TLDR Super Dumpling is amazing and I highly recommend coming here for the shrimp shumai, beef pan fried dumplings, and mapo tofu. So to start off, this is a new restaurant located in the same complex as Walmart and other fast food to fast casual chains. You wouldn't expect something this good to be here, but it's in my experience not a super high traffic center so I'm sure the rent was really reasonable. Either way, prices here are good and the quality of the food is super high. The restaurant itself is really interesting, going for a retro 60s / 70s diners vibe with modern elements, and surprisingly really classical music you would normally hear at a high end Michelin restaurant. Somehow the mix and mash of styles works, and the restaurant itself feels more high end than it has any right being. Now for the good stuff, the food here is spectacular. It might have some of the best shrimp shumai I have ever had in the OC area, and the beef pan fried dumplings are also stellar. If you've ever been to that one restaurant, little pan fried bun (think this has been renamed recently), basically this place blows that out of the water. Its so good and for the style they do for the beef pan fried dumplings, nothing in the immediate area comes close. The other dumpling dishes are good, but it's not necessarily the best as yum dumpling, seven graham, etc will do certain dumpling and xlb better, though it is still done very well here. The one surprising dish I had was the mapo tofu, I love Sichuan food and I was surprised at how authentic it was here. A little more on the beefy side but it still has that fantastic numby peppercorn kick that I love, highly recommend. I also want to highlight the drinks here and note that alot are too sweet for my liking, but stand outs were the jasmine milk tea (not too sweet) and the lychee soda. The lychee soda is KILLER and probably the best drink on their entire drink menu. Service is actually super good, Im not sure if the male server is the owner but he does a fantastic job along with his staff. I've been here several times and never had to wait too long for orders to be taken, food to be served, or waters to be refilled. Overall, this place is amazing and I'm so impressed with the food scene in Orange. Another killer restaurant to add to the 10 mile proximity of amazing restaurants in this area. Right when we ordered I feel like our food was there in less than 10 minutes for everything. I love how clean it feels in there Inside and outside. The seating area outside is cute with that plant wall and heaters. I will say the food overall was great minus the corn soup it was bland and flavorless I had to add a lot of soy sauce for it to taste better. Then I got scared the rest of the food would be bland but everything else packed a lot of flavor the Hot&Sour soup was a better option! The string beans at typical dumpling houses are usually more oily but theirs wasn't at all but the garlic in the string beans was amazing I could eat just a plate of that. The cucumber salad spice levels pack in a punch, my mouth was on fire but it was nice. The beef noodles I felt could've used more flavor also in my opinion. We got chicken Xiao Long Bao, Beef steamed dumpling and then shrimp siu mai and those were all amazing! Especially with the sauces! The star of this whole experience was the Hot Honey Citron tea I can't get over how good it was. Overall rating 4/5 because of the corn soup and beef noodles need improvement. The cucumber salad is so tasty, the chicken fried rice was delicious but the top two things were the spicy chicken wontons, and the chicken xiao long bao. The wontons were so flavorful with the right amount of spice. My whole order was split between my sister and I and it was plenty of food. The reason I removed a star, was due to their service. I placed my order over yelp, and patiently waited for it to be ready. When I picked it up, I noticed they had a lovely patio and many individuals were still eating. With 20 minutes left before closing, I figured my sister and I could enjoy our meal in the patio since our food was already prepared and we saw them still delivering food to tables. When my sister kindly asked if we could eat on the patio, the workers stared blankly at her. Then said no, that they were closing. Customers were still coming in, and the whole inside and outside had plenty of people lingering. It's fine to stop taking orders as it gets closer to closing, or even share a reminder of the closing time. But I felt it was a bit to early to reject us from sitting. So we enjoyed our meal in the car. However, we did not receive napkins, only got two sauces, and no extra condiments. All the food is halal and it's a nice experience for my kids as well to enjoy! They loved it! We can easily go back as a fun family dinner outing, and the restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was super nice but I think it still being somewhat new they weren't as attentive as I would've liked with two hungry kids, but once I mentioned they were hungry they hurried up our food order which was appreciated. We ordered the pan fried beef dumplings, the chicken dumplings, the chicken xiao long bao and of course Chicken noodles bc the kids love noodles. The pan fried beef dumplings were really good and something I had never had before, quite big though so I wasn't sure how to eat it, overall great flavors but got kind of messy.
