Spicy Miso, Prime Beef Brisket, Big Bottle of Sake!!!!

OMGAWDDDDD!!!! With all the rain and cold weather, ain't no better way to warm up your soul with some delicious Tabu Shabu. You can't help but to feel warm, and all fuzzy once you step inside, from the aroma hitting your senses, to hearing your favorite playlist in the background, and seeing how clean and cozy the layout of the restaurant is. Cici was very involved, and made sure we were good, from helping us pick our broths to funny life choices. You don't realize how much time flys when everyone is having fun, from the staff to the customers, all just vibing as one. Straight Up, Spicy Miso broth with the all the extras+Prime Beef Brisket was so filling and light at the same time. Add Saké for a memorable experience, and all in all you'll definitely be happy and full. 10/10 for a delicious, best bang for your buck, time of your life atmosphere....

Visited: 11/25/25 Meal: 7/10 I went with a Tonkotsu Pork base (extra $3), white rice, shirataki noodles, and decided to include all the veggies available. For protein, I chose the beef toro belly (regular size). The waitress was fantastic as she was super friendly and helpful in guiding my choices! She asked what type of meat I preferred, and when I said I wanted something fatty, she recommended the toro belly. She checked in frequently, and the staff also offered options like marinating your meat or making the soup base spicier, which was a nice touch. As the night went on and the place got busier, service became less hands-on, but that's understandable given how packed it was. One thing I appreciate about shabu spots like this is how they handle overcooked food. If you've dumped all your ingredients into the bowl and some are overcooked, they offer to transfer everything into a separate bowl so you can eat it as if it were served freshly. The seating is around an oval-shaped center table, so if it's busy, you'll be next to strangers. The bathroom is in the back and very clean. The restaurant is clearly popular. I was seated right at opening, and within an hour, it was fully booked. Overall, the service was great, and the food was good. However, nothing in particular stood out flavor-wise, so I can't give it a full 5 stars. The broth and meat could've packed more flavor, but overall it was a solid meal, and I value the communal, social vibe that spots like this offer. Price Breakdown: BOWL #1 -Beef Toro Belly (Regular) = $20 -Tonkotsu = $3 -Discount = $4.60 BOWL #2 -Angus Ribeye (Regular) = $24 -Tonkotsu = $3 -Discount = $5.40

Hot pot but make it premium. Tabu Shabu in Orange is flipping the script with rich tonkotsu broth, top-tier meats from Snake River Farms, and deals that actually hit--20% off happy hour, BOGO drinks on Tuesdays, and bottomless sake on the weekends. From fresh poke to buttery Wagyu, every bite feels elevated without losing that fun, cook-it-yourself experience. Definitely not your average hot pot spot.

The shabu was very clean, fresh, and super savory. The service was amazing, Thao served my family and I, that being their first time. She was very accommodating, attentive, she explained the foods and drink types to us as well. Everything was a great experience, will be back!

My friend and I brought my daughter here while visiting her on a Sunday. We arrived around 1 PM and it wasn't busy at all so we were seated right away by Ronnie who was the sweetest and most helpful in what we should order. The menu is very interesting and easy to follow. It was fun to make our own soup. Mine turned out a little bit more spicy than I was hoping for, but it was still tasty. Overall, it was a very lovely lunch! They had the best Lagaria Pinot Grigio I've ever had!! Couldn't believe it's on tap!

Came here for lunch. The place is cozy and clean. The staff is friendly and very helpful with answering questions. We ordered two sets with sukiyaki and spicy miso broth base and short rib and kurobota pork. It came with a side of vegetables, noodles, and rice. We also got a sake deal which was buy one, get one free. Broths- The sukiyaki base was sweet and flavorful and didn't need any enhancements. The spicy miso had the right amount of heat without being overpowering. They give an ample amount of vegetables with a good variety. Meats- Fresh and so tender they almost melt in the mouth! They give it a nice drizzle of seasoned oil and garlic as well. Sake- We opted to have it served warm. It was nice and smooth and complemented our meal perfectly. The second one for free was a lovely bonus! Great meal in this cold weather! Will definitely come back.

I love this place and I wish they give more meats! Great service, food and atmosphere! I will come back! Hopefully with more meats and more veggies.

After visiting the location in San Diego I had very high hopes! Food quality was still amazing to say the least. I got the tonkotsu broth which is just so rich and cozy and customized it with the different sauces and complimentary garlic and green onion. I did notice that at this location they have you share the complimentary toppings and sauces where in SD you get your own. I'm sure if you wanted your own or more, you could ask them. Prime rib is like butter and here they asked if you wanted it marinated! I also really appreciated when they asked if I wanted more broth, I didn't know it was complimentary. Staff here is very friendly, attentive, and efficient, definitely very pleasant. One thing I must say is that I was bummed they didn't have a cocktail menu like the other location. One of my favorite things is the amount of leftovers you have! It can get pretty busy around dinner time with a bit of a wait but nothing too loud where you can't enjoy a nice catch up. 10/10 I definitely recommend and love bringing my friends to try Tabu Shabu, it's easily become their new Shabu go to!

Tabu Shabu is a great option for hot pot if you are in the downtown Orange area. I went with their 2 item XL combo with prime beef belly and wagyu short rib. I had sukiyaki broth, and I asked them to "marinate the meat" with their garlic, soy sauce, and chili oil. I made sure to pair my meal with a pint of draft beer and I took advantage of the complementary sake offer by checking in on yelp. This undoubtedly helped me enjoy the meal even more. You enjoy your meal with bar seating. Service was friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the quality of the meat. Veggies were not unlimited, so I feel that you should consider getting a larger portion if you are hungry. I did like that the servers transferred the broth and noodles to a large soup bowl after you are done with the meat so that you could finish your meal off with your broth and noodles! Overall, I really enjoyed this meal and I would recommend it. Quality was good and portion sizes are modest - I definitely had room to enjoy dessert and coffee at Urth Caffe afterward.

I ordered the original broth and they have either the flat iron or the beef toro as their special for lunch along with tea drink. In total after tax, the cost was $25, which isn't too bad with today's inflation. The broth itself was fine - 3/5. The beef still tasted frozen and still being thawed at the time I had tried it. Once I had dipped it in the broth, the meat was pretty tough and mind you I didn't leave it in that long. I do feel the side sauces has a change in ingredient. I was hoping there was more creaminess to the sesame/peanut sauce. Service was quick and efficient, no problem there. I remember it being really affordable back then, but of course prices have gone up over the years. These days, the cheapest small size is around $22-$24, which isn't shocking with inflation and higher wages. One thing that hasn't changed, though, is the tiny cup of ice cream they give you at the end of the meal, which is a nice little touch. The seating is all bar-style, which can feel a bit overwhelming if you're an introvert like me and prefer having your own space. That said, it's not uncomfortable. People mostly keep to themselves, and the servers don't bother you much either. They'll check in once in a while to see if you need anything, but they're not constantly hovering. What really stands out to me about this place is the goma sauce. When it's done right, it's seriously good--rich, nutty, and super flavorful. Honestly, it's one of the best goma sauces I've had, and it makes the whole meal that much better. Even after all this time, that sauce alone reminds me why this place left such a strong impression on me in the first place.

My friend and I ordered the 12 piece total 2-item combination. We both ordered 6 pcs of shrimp and 6 pcs of rib eye for the upgraded price. Our plate of protein only came out with 4 pcs of shrimp so we questioned the server why this was so. She tells us its actually weighed out to 4 ounces and not "pieces" which the menu clearly states. We asked her if this was a new rule because we had dined here literally the week prior. She proceeds to tell us "idk who served you but it's always been like this. I always tell our customers its weighed by ounces" (she did not inform us prior to ordering). We sat for a bit but felt we were being kind of cheated because of the discrepancy from last week's experience. We called her over again and literally told the server we were not trying to pick a fight and we just wanted to clarify due to the discrepancy from last week's meals. She stated "you probably got less rib eye and more shrimp, hence 6 pieces of shrimp." However this was not the case, because we know how to count and its 6 pieces of each item in the 12 PIECE COMBO. So, eventually we asked to speak to a manager. She left to get Kozen (?) her manager and when she came back with a male server(?) she told us "the managers too busy - but he'll allow it this one time but like I said its always been by ounces". From there on out, she proceeds to ignore us, starts coughing (pretty obnoxiously and grossly, might I add) and speaking loudly to those around us, cursing and being overall unprofessional. If you're going to say your food is served in ounces and not by pieces as your menu states, you best be telling ALL YOUR GUESTS before they order regardless if they're returning or new. We had lost our appetite, could not even finish our food and were just trying to rush out because the whole situation made us feel so uncomfortable. She made sure that we were ignored and put to the side and the male server who came down with her tried to mitigate by checking in on us, however we had already been put off by female server and her unprofessionalism. Due to this lack of professionalism and overall extremely uncomfortable and disappointing experience, we left 0% tip (which btw, is extremely rare for us). Overall, the food itself is still delicious as always, but we'll likely only patron when Roger and Cesar are working (because they at least, know how to count).

Osmanthus Longjing Tofu Pudding (桂花龙井豆花): This was the perfect palate cleanser. It's light, floral, and not too sweet--perfect after a spicy meal. The vibe is very minimalist with cute porcelain decor. Great for a quick lunch or a casual dinner with friends. Prices are very reasonable (around $30 per person). Pro-tip: They are closed on Tuesdays, so don't make the mistake of going then!

The food didn't match the photos/expectations. What I saw on Xiaohongshu (little red book) looked…read morelike Photo 1, but what I actually got was Photo 2. The menu has changed too -- they no longer have Taiwanese braised pork rice. They only have a "braised pork rice" option, and the pork comes in big chunks (not the usual finely braised style). We also ordered Fuqi Feipian, and it was basically flavorless. Isn't this place supposed to be Sichuan? The chili wasn't spicy at all, and overall the taste was just completely off for a $10 dish. Overall: pretty average. I won't be coming back. Came here because of Xiaohongshu and felt misled.

They have a lot of staff so service was great and attentive. We got the tamago and gyoza appetizers which were well made. They had no tako dishes (squid) of any form available at around 1:30 pm, saying it was all sold out. I ordered the spicy beef udon since I saw it online a lot, and it was definitely worth it! I got the standard spice and it had a nice kick but nothing too crazy. It was on a self burning pot so it kept it nice and hot throughout the meal. There was a good amount of beef and the soup flavor was unique and worth it! They also include a cheesy rice ball which you add into your soup at the end to make a porridge. Would definitely recommend ordering this one!

The restaurant is pretty small and packs quickly so if you do decide to come make sure to get on the Yelp waiting list! Other than that the restaurant itself is cute. We ordered some appetizers... gyoza and chicken karaage. My son also ordered a California roll. I had the spicy beef udon with rice ball.. the appetizers were good. My spicy beef udon was delicious! It was brought out in a small cauldron like bowl atop a flame! It was boiling hot the whole time I ate! After you finish the udon there's a fried rice ball that you then would put in the pot to eat with the rest of the broth. I didn't go the traditional route.. instead I broke a piece of the rice and was surprised with some melted cheese inside! And took my piece and dipped it in my broth and ate it. It was great! So crunchy and umami! I would come again just for that rice ball lol

It was my first time trying one of these setups, and I came in with low expectations--but I was pleasantly surprised in more ways than one. The food was delivered via a parcel locker, which was definitely different, but somehow, it worked. Even after a 20-minute drive, the food was still crispy and hot, which is no small feat. We ordered the chicken sandwich, which came with a large, juicy piece of chicken and was full of flavor. The pineapple chicken had a lightly sweet glaze we ordered on the side and that option was a nice touch. It had great flavor without being overly sweet. The pricing was reasonable, and the overall experience was convenient, tasty, and honestly kind of fun. If you're curious about ghost kitchens or hub-style dining, this one is worth checking out.

He mentioned it felt a bit different from a typical restaurant experience. You order at a kiosk, and when your food's ready, you pick it up from a locker. There are several restaurants and shops in the space, and the whole setup has a cool, modern vibe. It's perfect for Uber Eats and DoorDash pickups--that seems to be a big part of their business model.
