Four stars because we visited on Christmas Day. Just try to find an open establishment on Christmas Day in Sebring. Along with a multitude, we discovered the Sunset Grille. Situated on the shores of Lake Jackson, this old place manages to provide comfort in an otherwise barren environment. (Hint to other restaurants, be open for Christmas). The special offering we availed ourselves of was the complete turkey dinner. For two people and $40, you get a 10 lb roasted turkey, mashed and sweet potatoes, stuffing, green beans, and gravy. This was almost as good as my homemade stuff. All the side dishes tasted like they were made in Granny's kitchen. The turkey was done but would have been super if just a bit crispier. The service was impeccable. My only foible was the bits of detritus from the previous serving that day. As I mentioned, finding a place with food on Christmas Day is nearly impossible and this was very much like "home". I forgot to mention, they package up your leftovers so you can take them home. Went here last night hoping to spend the rest of our vacation fund. We were seated immediately and then ignored by 2 servers servicing the tables on either side of us. After 20 minutes of waiting for someone to take our drink order (!!!!!!) we left. Went up the road to Outback Steakhouse and spent our $200 on food and drink there. read more

(You can eat inside too.) - The food is delicious and the drinks are nice and cold. Delightful happy hour margaritas. (I was glad they were not huge, but they are on the small scale). - The grouper was delectable; this time we had grouper piccata and francese styles, also fish & chips baskets and our other friend had an exquisite sandwich. The staff is nice, friendly and professional. The waitresses are amazing and everything was very clean. Since we went during this pandemic, we were appreciative that all the staff was wearing masks and the tables were separated. - We have been there on different occasions, and had good food each time. As with so many other reviews, the view is beautiful, the food is just not good. The fish is very over battered, greasy and Bland. Cannot imagine this is fresh hand battered fish let alone grouper. The prices would have been very fair for a good meal but there is zero effort being made to elevate anything. Think Long John Silver's on a lake. read more

The service staff works really hard. The kitchen staff needs a lot of help. We were a party of nine, each with a different order. 7 of us received our meals at the same time; 2 meals showed up 14 minutes later. I'll guess I will have to give this place another chance during "high season"... my crab cakes were so bad that I sent them back and just ate a side salad; server acted like I insulted her personally for the request but did remove it from my bill. The key lime pie is creamy & delicious! Outside seating under the oak tree with hanging moss, during sunset, overlooking the lake is wonderful... just missing a lower deck & walkway to the water - as it's at least 100 yards from the main deck. I heard that seaplanes land in the lake and visit the place- I'd love to see that! read more

Great food! My Fiancee and I have been 3 times in the last few weeks and were never dissapointed. You can choose to dine outside on Lake Jackson or inside.They are our go to restaurant now, we love it! read more

I remember a time when the food was amazing. That was not the case this weekend. Food was terrible, service was terrible and as we walked in, we noticed lizards going until the crack of tile.. at that point we knew how the night would be. In all honesty felt like we gave away 60$. read more

A great little place on the lake. Outdoor seating, good apps menu and full bar. We stopped here on a Tuesday afternoon. Not busy but excellent service. Peel & eat shrimp were huge and very tasty. Been here 3 times since 2011 when here at Sebring raceway. The food is good, service is good. It's not super high end but well worth a visit! It's what you would expect for a small non-coastal"old Florida" town. read more

OMG The 1/2 Rack of lamb and T Bone steak specials were so so good and the price was very reasonable. All that and a lovely lake view too

Asked where to go at the state park nearby and got directed to here. I owe that lady a big favor for sending me and my wife here. Got a humungous fish sandwich that definitely satisfied my appetite, and was one of the best fish sandwiches I have ever had. The coating was light and flaky and nothing was greasy. The homemade tartar sauce was great too. Don't know what others saw that made them not like this place but it seemed like your typical local bar and grill. The waitress was good and knew several regulars as they came in, getting their drinks before they ordered them. Seems like a good place to me. read more

I spent two months in Sebring while taking care of my Grandmother, and found the Sunset Grille to be the right kind of atmosphere with good food. We made the tour around town, and this would be one of our favorites. read more

We had to wait for our motorhome to be serviced and wanted a place close by. We saw this was right on the water. Wasn't sure if it was open but we were in luck. Went outside as we had a little dog with us. We had a great view of the lake, wonderful waitress that took care of us and the dog. She was super sweet and made our visit so enjoyable. When our food came out we were really happy to see how wonderful the food looked and tasted. Had the jalapeño burger, fries and grouper Rueben with side salad. I am a local and I know this place has been through some changes so decided to give another chance on New Year's Eve. Was not impressed at all. No specials on New Years Eve. The waitress was not personable at all. I asked for sauce on side and she made sure to point out there was 20 people inside and she dare not ask the chef. Then asked if I could have all shrimp instead of scallops on the surf and turf - which I thought was not a big deal but she was quick to point out is is a big deal because she did not want to ask any favors - she decided to write down anyways and again when food was delivered made sure to tell us she got an eye roll from the chef for asking to substitute shrimp. Salad had just lettuce and two slices of pathetic looking tomatoes. Never once did she ask if we wanted another beer. We had to ask her as they were sitting empty in front of us. Food was plain and under seasoned. Maybe she should ask the chef to use some salt. read more

Four delicious lunches served to us on the deck. Dog given water bowl. Couldn´t have been a nicer place. Waitress suggested the fish sandwich without the bread to get the best grilled fish I ever had. . .on lettuce, tomato and fries. Huge piece of hot succulent fish. Beer battered fish was just as good. Large burger satisfied my husband just as the waitress said it would. . . deck view of the lake was awesome. We would go back anytime. Note this restaurant is wrongly marked on the map. We had Easter Dinner here with10 people and alot of us had different kinds of steak. My friend had a t-bone steak that had alot of grizzle in it and we told the server and she said there is nothing I can do, if you told me about it in the beginning I could have sent it back. My husband had steak au poive which was very expensive and it was tough. My filet medallions were ordered medium (pink inside) and it came medium well. I sent it back and it came out rare, sent it back and it came out rare, sent it back a third time and it was finally good. Nooked it three times. They also added 20% gratituity to all our checks, so the server didn't get hurt. We live in Sebring and none of us will ever go back there again. I'm not sure about some of these reviews from several years ago but our recent visit was most enjoyable. Saw the place as we were driving through town and decided to give it a try. It's a funky local place and totally unlike any of the many chains that line Highway 27. We had the Ahi tuna and Mahi Mahi entrees and both were superb. Service was friendly and knowledgable and the prices were unbelievably reasonable. Sure the place looks a little worn from the outside but it's right on the water so not unexpected. The important point is that it was clean. We will make it a point to stop by whenever we're in the area. read more

Outdoor ambience would have been great if not for the hovering squirrel that was way too comfortable with people and practically sat at our table. The server was great but unfortunately, the food was terrible, thus way overpriced for what it was. The "new" menu is nothing fancy. There is no pasta, no steak, and very limited seafood options (the only reason we decided to take our out-of-town guest), even though that's what the billboard advertises. Started out well with an order of fried calamari. Cooked well and tasted good. Down hill from here. I ordered a shrimp scampi and my wife ordered a seafood pasta dish. My scampi was cooked poorly pasta was way under cooked and the shrimp was way over cooked. Not a good meal. My wife's dish had a funny order. Scallops, shrimp and lobster over pasta. most of the seafood was under cooked. When the manager came over after we complained to our server he told us the odor was the Florida lobster and most people not from Florida complain about it. He stuck his finger in the seafood that was said to be raw and mushy with no further comment. He comped my wife a $6.00 drink and we left. Not a fun dining experience. read more

Randomly picked this restaurant for dinner with my son from the West coast. Pleasantly surprised with fantastic service and a great meal. We ate outside overlooking a beautiful lake but I noted that the ambience inside was also extremely nice. The three of us had various fish dinners. All the fish and sides were cooked to perfection. I have to admit I something cant find anything to jump off the menu at me but Every thing I eat there has always been great. Best food in town next to the Watering hole. My favorite entree is the Grouper francaise(white wine,butter, herbs and capers) for seafood. The Coq au Vin for poultry and the Filet mignon is as tender as the Watering hole but without the garlic. Moving here from Ft. Lauderdale where you can eat at a different restaurant everyday for a year and not eat at the same place twice...Sunset Grille is a culinary delight in Sebring and be sure to ask for Thomas as your server. We have eaten here before. The service was slow, but the food was good. However, this time service was terrible. We waited over an hour, and never received our food. Our waitress would not acknowledge our hails. The tables around us, who came in, were seated, and ordered after we did, received their food within 20 minutes of being seated.
