    Calamari and crab jalapeno bites

This place couldn't have a more peaceful back patio. It's one of the only places in town to enjoy the lake while eating. Serving elevated bar food with phenomenal fried fish, you won't be disappointed! Great service from friendly staff. Make sure you stop in and try the fish!

My wife had the junior fish sandwich with flatbread sticks and I had the seafood bisque with crab cakes.

My wife and I went to the Sunset Grille and had a wonderful meal. I had the Seafood Bisque soup and Crab Cakes. My wife had the Junior Fish Sandwich. For dessert we had Carrot Cake. The food was delicious and the staff out going and attentive. The bright blue building is easy to spot and the interior very homey.

Excellent service in a beautiful setting right on the lake. I had seafood over pasta in an incredible sauce. My husband had the fried shrimp dinner with an excellent dipping sauce and a side of fresh green beans. Also fried shrimp dinner with an excellent dipping sauce and fresh green beans

OMG I started drooling! This is a Blackened Prime Rib sandwich @ $9 including decent fries!

Sooooo I haven't been here in over 5 years and a Yelp birdie told me there's new management and a new menu so off I went. Atmosphere- Physically, nothing has changed so, if you wish, you can peruse my first review for that stuff. Just remember there is an awesome deck on Lake Jackson with plenty of pics from my fellow Yelpers. So, what has changed? Customer Service- I was touched by both the manager and my bartender/server and both were friendly, genuine, and efficient. No complaints at all but also nothing that made me go OMG so a solid 4 stars. Food- Yup, it's an American menu alright with a twist here and there. Tons of appetizers along with plenty of seafood, steaks, burgers, tacos, and assorted sandwiches. One of the twists was an appetizer that sounded awesome! Kicken Balls ($5.50)- Spicy Potato Balls Stuffed with Beef & Pork Served with our Buffalo Dipping Sauce. I was by myself, and I knew I would never finish these and an entrée, so I passed. However, a neighboring table ordered them, and they looked incredible, and it was clear everybody loved them. I love Cajun spices, so I smiled when I spotted this- Mardi Gras ($17)- Cajun Chicken Served Over Linguini with Sautéed Mushrooms, Tomatoes & Scallions Finished in a Creamy Cajun Cheese Sauce. So of course, I ordered it. I waited a while for it but not long enough to complain. This was a very very good dish! Although hard to tell in my pic there was plenty of blackened chicken. The Cajun Cheese Sauce was the star of the show! It had a nice kick and was just the right consistency. I do have a couple of quibbles. $17 is a bit too high for what it is, the atmosphere it's served in, and a Highlands County location. I understand it was once $15 which would be about right. The linguine was overcooked (not al dente) which I totally expected in a casual place like this, but it is what it is! Would I order it again? You bet! I'm gonna make some plans to come down here with two or three friends so we can split some appetizers, have an adult libation or two or three and enjoy the deck at sunset!

The cheapest seafood used. The baked potato was sent out cool to the touch. Won't be back again all the seafood tasted processed.

I have to say, I loved the ambiance of Gavaghans. I am not entirely an Irish pub kind of girl, but…read morewhen you are in Rome you do what the Romans do, right? And in Sebring, that means you walk into the cool Irish pub on the circle and soak it all in. The interior alone makes it worth the visit. Dark wood, warm lighting, that cozy tucked-away pub feel that makes you forget you are in the middle of Florida. It feels transported. It is one of those places in Sebring that you just have to see because it is so unexpectedly cool inside. Service was great. I was there for a quick in and out, so I sat at the bar and kept it simple with a chicken Caesar salad. Nothing fancy. For the price, it was very fair, and the flavor held up. No complaints. It did exactly what it needed to do, which was give me a solid meal in a comfortable setting without overcomplicating things. Now let's talk about Sebring itself. Sebring is one of those towns in the middle of nowhere Florida where you find yourself thinking, "I wonder what it would be like to live here?" while also scratching your head a little. It reminds me of The Villages before The Villages became The Villages. There is a concept there. It is adorable. It is charming. And most of the time, it is very, very quiet. Personally, I would go stir crazy living there full time. But I can absolutely see the appeal. And to be fair, Sebring is not always sleepy. It comes alive during major events like the legendary 12 Hours of Sebring at Sebring International Raceway, which draws racing fans from all over the world. There is also the Sebring Soda Festival, the Highlands County Fair, and various car shows and seasonal events that suddenly flood the town with energy. During those times, I imagine the entire vibe shifts. If I were to come back, it would be for one of those big events or for some serious antique shopping, because that is where this area quietly shines. Gavaghans fits perfectly into that Sebring personality. Cozy. A little unexpected. Solid. Worth stepping into. Even if you are not an Irish pub person, it is one of those spots that makes you think, okay... I get it.

We sat ourselves at a table nearest a window. The place is dimly lit. We placed our order at the bar. We did not wait long for our meal. We each had the Cesar Salad with Bacon bits and a glass of red wine. The salad was a generous portion, fresh and crisp with just the right amount of housemade dressing. We each ate half of the salad and took the remaining home. The place was quiet with only one other table seated. We were able to converse with each other in a relaxed and unhurried atmosphere. It was a most pleasant evening. I recommend Gavaghans and plan to return on a weekend when the place might have a more livelier vibe.

Sophie's Cafe was one of the businesses featured on an episode, so obviously we wanted to check it out, having watched the behind-the-scenes details. The restaurant was super busy, so we put our name in and walked around for an hour before being called. The restaurant is pretty tight inside when there are a lot of people. We were seated across from the bakery case, and there were a lot of people walking by and ordering pastries. I ordered the Pan con Lechon -- a pressed Cuban sandwich with shredded pork and onions. I just ordered the half size, and thankfully I did. It was huge! So if you really want a value (and maybe some leftovers), order the full size for only a couple of dollars more. The sandwich tasted delicious, too. The pork was tender and flavorful.

The decor is classic 50s roadside diner with old license plates on the wall, an old pickup truck outside and a TV on ESPN by my table. The menu is classic Americana / diner fare with a southern touch. I'd been on an empty stomach through my 3 hour drive and meetings, so by the time I sat down to eat, I almost would have even eaten the paper the menu was written on :) Since it was a little bit on the chilly side, I started with their hearty cup of baked potato soup, deliciously loaded with cheese & bacon bits in a stew. Their warm, buttery and fluffy rolls topped with cinnamon butter were worth every single gram of carbs and almost functioned as a dessert themselves. Then came my yummy main dish, a roasted half chicken with just the right amount of skin and garnished with a smoky barbecue sauce. It was a sizable bird, taking up a nice bit of plate real estate, though leaving just enough room for a warm and topped with butter sweet potato. Needless to say, I still had room for dessert, and enjoyed their Keylime pie. Mal, my waitress, was very pleasant and I didn't have to wait for soda refills. Plating was also on time. I noticed they also had a Valentine's Day local special. It seems like this is a happening place in Sebring and I'd stop by next time I'm in the area.

Very nice, tall blonde. She was very honest. She told us the steaks aren't local. She then told us about the fries that are hand cut everyday aren't crisp. They're more flimsy. She also let us know they make 3 homemade salad dressings. We ordered the fried pickles first. They came out small cut, with ranch dressing and seasoned well. I actually liked them. We then ordered our meal. We picked our steak of the rib eye 18 oz. We ordered it medium rare. Steak also came with 2 sides or you can get up charged for other items. I got fries and the mashed potatoes. My wife got her 2 sides as she was also charged 6 dollars for 2 sides and a salad. She got the baked potato and cabbage. The steak came out perfect. Good char on it. Medium rare was good. I liked it a lot. Not tough. The fries like she said came out limp. They weren't bad. Mashed potatoes were good. Nothing to write home about. My wife said the bake potato was good. And the cabbage was ok. The waitress was attentive and made sure our drinks were full when needed. Overall, I'd say the food was a 4.4 with the salad being a small plate with normal stuff. The fries were also missing that crunch factor. The mashed potatoes were ok. The steak is what saved it and the pickles.

The dining area was comfortable enough and full of local flair. I decided to deduct one star due to the lack of unique flavor from the food. Everything tasted fresh and good, but nothing special.
