Hands down the best meal we were able to enjoy on our most recent visit to Grand Cayman. Unbelievable ambience and lighting with food to match. We were a larger party of 11 and got a prime spot on the beach literally 10 feet from the softly lapping sea water. Our server had the sense to get the kids orders in and served to ensure a delightful experience for the adults. Make sure to peruse the specialty drink menu that can be crafted with our without alcohol. Our food choices roamed the entire menu and everyone loved their meals so feel free to take a suggestion or go your own route. I had a perfectly cooked burger that left me stuffed and satisfied. I need to write this review so I never forget this place, because I will be back. Tillies is absolutely stunning. At first, I wasn't even sure where the restaurant was because we had to walk past a beautiful building with rental rooms. But once we turned the corner and saw the restaurant, it literally took my breath away. There's outdoor seating that leads right to the beach, which looked incredible, but we chose to sit in another outdoor area surrounded by lush greenery and trees....and it was still such a beautiful experience. My friend ordered the caviar martini, and I had a taste & the caviar was absolutely divine. The service was quick, attentive, and kind, which made the experience even better. We both ordered our steaks medium, and they came out perfectly cooked. No notes needed. I also got lobster, macaroni and cheese and broccoli. The lobster macaroni and cheese was extremely creamy m, cheesy just enough and the noodles were shells which is always a plus for me. The broccoli is just plain steamed broccoli. If you're ever in the Cayman Islands, this place is a must. read more

This was probably the most mentioned restaurant leading up to my trip to grand cayman so I had very high expectations. The beach outside atmosphere is perfection and doesn't get any better. The indoors is nice, but a little stuffy so I recommend sitting outdoors here and pretty much everywhere in Grand Canyon. I ate 2 meals here and I thought the food was ok. The first was dinner with my daughter and I think the bread may have been the best part - the coconut they served with the butter was soooo good. We shared coconut shrimp (good), tuna tartare (so so) and a Cesar salad which we asked them to chop (pretty good). We finished with a sundae for dessert, which was good but didn't hold a candle to the other desserts i enjoyed in grand cayman all week. We went back for brunch our last day and were bummed that they didn't have the brunch menu on a Saturday. We weren't really feeling the menu so considered leaving, but we're short on time with a flight to catch so sucked it up. My son and I had the smoked snapper toast which was actually pretty good. My husband thought his club sandwich was just ok. My daughter enjoyed the kids mac and cheese and my other son the kids pizza. The pizza comes from a nearby restaurant so arrived an extra 20 min after the rest of our food. All our kids did say the pina colada's were perfection. We spent our 4th anniversary here! Ambiance is incomparable. We made reservations and sat literally on the beach under a mangrove tree that was surrounded by other tables but still felt incredibly intimate. Service was attentive but allowed us time to really enjoy dinner and the night itself. We started with the snapper collar which was crispy on the outside flaky on the inside, only gripe is that I was cautious of eating bone so I'm sure I left good meat behind. The ceviche was fresh and tangy but would've been nice with a chip or something crispy. For an entree we shared the butterflied snapper which was served tableside. It was a massive portion and was absolutely delicious. Highly, highly recommend. My husband and I dropped into Tillies on a whim, and although we did not have a reservation the host was able to seat us immediately. It was raining, so we were not able to sit on the beautiful patio but the inside was just a cute! We had a fabulous time with Giuseppe who gave us excellent recommendations and has us giggling right off the bat. The bread rolls came out hot, fluffy and fresh with a delightful coconut garnish. We had to stop ourselves to save room for the rest of the meal. We also ordered the Ceviche, which was very fresh and nice light starter. The we ordered the goat curry and fish milanese. Both dishes were excellent and not too heavy, which we appreciated. The fish milenses came with cucumber, avocado, yuzu koshō with delectible citrus flavors. Giuseppe also had excellent wine recommendations, and I ended up an incredible glass of Italian red that I savored throughout the meal. Best ambiance on the island! When in cayman, I visit tillie often and always love it. The service has always been very polite but don't expect a meal at tillies to be quick. However the experience is one to enjoy and not rush! For breakfast the burrito is a must try! The avocado toast, scrambled eggs and croissant are also some of my favorites. The French toast is also super delicious for a sweet treat breakfast. For lunch/dinner my go to is the grill bowl with chicken. I've tried the fish sandwich which was pretty great. However the burger is one of the best burgers I've ever had! It's another must try item! The fries are equally delicious too! Both ceviches on the menu are incredible and fresh. When i come for dinner i usually i get the market fish. Which is usually a whole fish and enough for two people to share. It comes a a yummy sauce on the side with just the right amount of spice. I do not usually leave bad reviews but this one I must so no one else needs to make this mistake. We have dined here the last 4 years while visiting Cayman. This is the last time. The Louie salad and fried okra was good but nothing else. Two couples ordered the grilled snapper that was incredibly dry and no seasoning. They served it with a cold turmeric sauce which was cold and not good at all. This was $85 CI with no sides. The octopus was like chewing rubber. Little to no service at all. We had to catch someone passing by to refill our wine that was across the room. Some of the others wanted to order another cocktail but we did not see the server until we were done with the dinner. This is the only restaurant that we visited twice. Wish we had not. The first time the food, service and setting were excellent. I had a white Negroni that was incredible. I had the duck curry Roti and it was truly delicious. The last night we went was the day after Hurricane Beryl left and I think everyone was just tired, the service was the opposite, drinks were average and the wait time was much longer. I have to say we had the fried lobster as an appetizer and it was terrific. I don't think I will be going back to the island anytime soon but if you are trying to decide between the duck curry and the octopus get the curry you will be happy that you did. read more

Heard a lot of good things about this restaurant. I made reservations for dinner on a Sunday. It was a short walk down from my hotel. It is set in the back along the beach. The place is so pretty and very big. We were lead to our table and it was in the middle of the place. I liked the setup. It was very pretty looking. I asked our waiter what he recommended. One of the things was their burger. I ordered that. It came by itself so I got the fries too. The burger was so flavorful and cooked perfectly. I really liked the taste. The fries were thin and cooked crispy which i enjoyed. I also got the oysters on the half shell and they were fresh. The small ones which I love. My wife got the Caesar salad with shrimp. It was also good. We enjoyed our visit to this place and I would recommend it and come here again. The servers were always checking on us which was nice. I forgot to mention the bread. This was the first restaurant stop on our vacation, and we've raved about it every single day since. They gave us time to enjoy the beach before we placed our orders. They were bringing out drinks to customers in the water. We ordered the conch fritters, kale salad, the shrimp piri piri bowl, and the red snapper bowl. The curry chickpeas were the perfect addition to the bowls. Super flavorful. The servers are dressed so fancy, in bowties and white tuxedos. Very friendly, and checked in on us regularly. My dinner here was Excellent. A short taxi or walk from my hotel. I made reservations before my trip. They have a few seating options. You can be insid, or this outer area vs closer to the beach. I didn't want to sit inside so I had to wait a bit extra. I got the curry goat meal. It wasn't what I was expecting but it was still good. I wanted more chunks of meat, like traditional curry goat. This is the platonic ideal of a fancy beach restaurant. Whether you're looking for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just drinks, Tillie's will offer up gorgeous, high-quality food and drink, served by the nicest of people, in the perfect setting. And you will pay for it. (But really, nothing on this island is cheap, so it's well worth the mark-up over many more affordable spots.) We enjoyed coconut shrimp and an excellent ceviche for lunch, as well as a surprisingly healthy "grill bowl," with caribbean coconut rice, curried chickpea scotch bonnet crema, green coconut chutney, green papaya, kale, and herbs all topped with a nice piece of red snapper. (More scotch bonnet crema next time, please.) When we could escape from our children, we downed Jalisco Margaritas (more scotch bonnet heat), Tillie's Punch, Hemingway Daiquiris, and piña coladas (for the wife). For dinner, we shared a very nice chicken liver mousse, perfect fries, the seafood pasta special, grilled octopus, and another red snapper, stuffed tableside with greens and crab, and served with a beurre blanc that would make soggy cardboard taste good. We were also surprised by how child-friendly they were. My man Abdul, an amazing server, was playing with our kids in-between snapper-stuffing, and generally providing anything we could possibly need (which was mostly more alcohol). They also start you off at dinner with some incredible fresh bread, which heads off any kid hunger, and the beach at sunset is the best possible playground you could have. They were even accommodating of our giant rental stroller, which was no easy feat. I'll dream about coming back to Tillie's, but ideally without my children, because they don't deserve it. Overall 3.5 stars and would've rounded up if not for the mosquitoes, which are a bane of my existence. The food was 3.25 stars, and rounding up for the ambiance (5 stars,) and service (4.5 stars), and down again for food value (3 stars) and since getting bitten by mosquitoes on my face during dinner isn't quite the most enjoyable experience (2 stars). The restaurant is gorgeous. It's nestled inside the Palm Heights Hotel, beachside with lush foliage, beach umbrellas, outdoor lighting strung tastefully to create an almost* magical atmosphere as the sunset fades into oranges, pinks, and purples beneath the evening horizon. Several tables are set up right on the sandy beach, while the majority of approximately thirty-odd total tables spill out from the cavernous main interior dining room replete with 10-ft tall tree rising toward the white-washed ceiling beams. The dinner service clientele settle in at their tables, attended to by well-dressed (jackets and bow ties) and well-mannered (courteous and knowledgeable) staff. *Almost magical bc the itching from mosquito bites will quickly bring you back to reality. They had a pretty good set up with many electric fans (mosquitoes can't fly into wind), and it's probably fine during the mid-day heat, but after the sun set and temps dropped, the mozzie brigade was out in full force. Especially to people like me who are prone to getting bitten, even the fans blowing couldn't prevent them from biting the side of my face not directly in line of the wind. Back to the meal. The food was not bad, though my overall impression was that we were paying more so for the ambiance. - House buns were ok, fluffy and chewy and the coconut sambal that came with it was fragrant and has a little kick. - The same was served with the goat curry ($27 KYD) served thali style with roti (not as flaky as advertised or as I expected, kinda dense), yogurt sauce, red onions, tamarind. We found a few little pieces of bone in the curry so you had to be careful when eating it. - The shrimp sambusa ($16 KYD) was pretty good, the pastry shell tasted like deep fried, flaky phyllo stuffed with shrimp coconut curry. - The half dozen East Coast oysters were a bit underwhelming for $25 KYD ($31.25 USD) partially bc they were from Long Island and coming from NYC you can find them probably fresher and for less at home, though I'm sure it was expensive to import them from so far away. - The conch fritters ($16 KYD) were enjoyable and tasted a bit more fresh/green with cucumber and lemongrass than some of the other versions we'd tried at different restaurants. - The simple greens salad ($12 KYD) and pomme purée (mashed potatoes, $8 KYD) were good but pretty generic. - The rib-eye for two ($75 KYD) requested medium rare came out quite blue and rare in the middle so much that we had to send it back to be cooked more, though they were quite gracious and it came back perfect the second time. - We ordered a few drinks which were ok--my friend loved the white wine she ordered and another friend enjoyed the Tillie's Punch. Meanwhile my virgin Coconut Limon ($10 KYD) was strangely unbalanced sweet, salty, watery and sour. - Dessert was a baked Alaska ($15 KYD) which was a impressive show of flambéing though I wished the flavor and textures impressed me more. The couple cappuccinos we ordered were decent and one came with a beautiful seahorse foam art. This is a fancy dining experience in a casual setting and I'd recommend checking it out for the vibe, though food and drink-wise I wouldn't go with super high expectations. If I were to go again I'd order different menu items to see if maybe I missed their highlights the first time around. read more

The atmosphere is immaculate. The food was fresh and delicious. The guac hit the spot and my grilled snapper was cooked perfectly. It was flavorful and the grilled pineapple was a nice touch. My friend and I ordered a pina colada (minus the rum lol) and it was silky smooth and beyond refreshing. The reason I have to take off a star is because of the service. You have to go to the Palm Heights resort and wander down an exterior hallway on the north side of the building. At the end, to your left, is a small bar and Yashinoki; a small joint specializing in small, Japanese plates and sushi. Turn right and head through the stand of small palms and you'll find Tillies. Somewhat posh details and cozy dining nooks makes this ideal for a romantic dinner. Casablanca-vibe with white-jacketed waiters. Some on-the-sand and beach front options are available as well. Pro Tip: book for seating with an unobstructed view and try to catch the sunset. Superlative! Wife ordered a ceviche and sashimi apps for dinner. I had the NY strip which was cooked correctly though it came pre-sliced which I found odd. Steak was good but didn't outclass steaks I've had elsewhere. The same for the sashimi dishes and cocktails. Basically, it was on par with most fine dining restaurants. What you're really paying for is the ambiance and the view which is well worth it. Great vibe. Great romantic spot. read more
