I have to say, I loved the ambiance of Gavaghans. I am not entirely an Irish pub kind of girl, but when you are in Rome you do what the Romans do, right? And in Sebring, that means you walk into the cool Irish pub on the circle and soak it all in. The interior alone makes it worth the visit. Dark wood, warm lighting, that cozy tucked-away pub feel that makes you forget you are in the middle of Florida. It feels transported. It is one of those places in Sebring that you just have to see because it is so unexpectedly cool inside. Service was great. I was there for a quick in and out, so I sat at the bar and kept it simple with a chicken Caesar salad. Nothing fancy. For the price, it was very fair, and the flavor held up. No complaints. It did exactly what it needed to do, which was give me a solid meal in a comfortable setting without overcomplicating things. Now let's talk about Sebring itself. Sebring is one of those towns in the middle of nowhere Florida where you find yourself thinking, "I wonder what it would be like to live here?" while also scratching your head a little. It reminds me of The Villages before The Villages became The Villages. There is a concept there. It is adorable. It is charming. And most of the time, it is very, very quiet. Personally, I would go stir crazy living there full time. But I can absolutely see the appeal. And to be fair, Sebring is not always sleepy. It comes alive during major events like the legendary 12 Hours of Sebring at Sebring International Raceway, which draws racing fans from all over the world. There is also the Sebring Soda Festival, the Highlands County Fair, and various car shows and seasonal events that suddenly flood the town with energy. During those times, I imagine the entire vibe shifts. If I were to come back, it would be for one of those big events or for some serious antique shopping, because that is where this area quietly shines. Gavaghans fits perfectly into that Sebring personality. Cozy. A little unexpected. Solid. Worth stepping into. Even if you are not an Irish pub person, it is one of those spots that makes you think, okay... I get it. read more

I recently met a friend for dinner on a weekday. We both live within walking distance of the Circle Downtown. It was a first visit for my friend. We sat ourselves at a table nearest a window. The place is dimly lit. We placed our order at the bar. We did not wait long for our meal. We each had the Cesar Salad with Bacon bits and a glass of red wine. The salad was a generous portion, fresh and crisp with just the right amount of housemade dressing. We each ate half of the salad and took the remaining home. The place was quiet with only one other table seated. We were able to converse with each other in a relaxed and unhurried atmosphere. It was a most pleasant evening. I recommend Gavaghans and plan to return on a weekend when the place might have a more livelier vibe. read more

This review is not for the food, as I never got to try it. We just walked in there today (5/17/26) , no host to seat us. No biggie, we find a table. We eventually see signs "order here" and "order at the bar". We stood there for over 5 minutes while the bartender (tall with pulled back hair in a pony tail) made drinks. No biggie, but we continued to not even be acknowledged, no "be right with you," etc. We walked out, clearly we were being ignored on purpose at that point. Don't waste your time here. Finally an Irish pub, bringing me back to my university days traveling through the Isle as a young writer and filmmaker. So my expectations started high. I first went to visit the pub to check it out. I was impressed the setting looked like an Irish pub, but the place was empty and the staff greeted me as if I was in Orlando, Florida. Something like, "hello, would you like a seat?" Something like that --An every restaurant American experience. At the time, I didn't pay attention because I was just looking around. Some weeks later I decided to get lunch and hear a local Irish group play music. Entering we ordered a cabbage and I believe corn beef appetizer and later we ordered the fish and chips. The food was good a bit overpriced for a "pub". I ordered what every drinking man should order at an Irish pub, a pint of Guinness. It looked like a proper Guinness with the proper required foam but like the pub it missed something, tasted like the can version. I didn't see them take it from the tab, but was told they did, however, I witnessed a bar tender pouring one from a can for another customer. Then the music played. A local group, like the pub, had no personality no soul. They played good but no interaction with the half dozen or so less of us in attendance. That was how the whole place felt --it looked like an Irish pub but it didn't feel like one. It lacked the joy, the conversation with staff the cheer, the comradery. It wasn't friendly, in a sincere way. It felt like, take your order and go. My experience in Ireland was glorious. I never forgot it and plan on going back one day. As an honorary Irishman (a story to be told). The owners of this pub need to remember Ireland --the culture and not just by name but by spirit! Hope they work it out. read more

Sebring has an Irish pub! I can't get over how cool a spot this is! My parents live here and I visit once per year, and in a town of sameness, this really stands out as being unique. The Guinness Stew, Scotch egg, fish and chips, cottage pie, and vegetable curry were all fabulous. The staff was courteous and there is a great decor. The one thing I'd love to see change is the serving style. Everything is order at the bar, and sometimes this is necessary with staffing woes. However, it creates quite a logjam at the bar. Early Friday dinner. Place had a few patrons. You have to order at the bar then take a seat. I had the cottage pie and some fries. Food was hot and not a mess. Could use some seasoning as the actual beef and such was bland. I used salt and pepper. Fries were good. Also had a fish n chips. It wasn't that great. The breading was too thick and soggy and the fish slide right out of it. And fish had a couple bones in it. Won't order that again. But overall. It was ok. Not worth the price. Just moved to Sebring and so glad we found this place! Very cool atmosphere, you can actually picture yourself in a pub in Ireland. A GREAT assortment of beer on tap, with all the Irish offerings like Guinness, Harp, Smithwick's, and Kilkenny served by the pint. We tried the wings and the fish & chips, both were fresh, hot, and high quality, with decent portion sizes. We sit at the bar whenever possible and the bartender on that night was wonderful, her name was Danielle. She was fast, efficient, and knowledgeable in addition to being very easy on the eyes! looked up places to go eat fish on Friday night a rating of 4.6 so we gave it a try was very disappointed. It was so dark in there you couldn't hardly even see your food. The $20 plate was 2 small pieces of fish and a handful of fries. Fish had no flavor on the batter and fries was burnt in some places, not very happy my wife ordered half plate and got one piece of fish and a handful of fries for $11. What a disappointment in an otherwise wonderful atmosphere with great beers. We ordered the new Reubens and they ranged from one ok sandwich to another that was completely inedible. There were 4 of us. Maybe I should also tell you that we are in the 80% population in Sebring - meaning we are over 65. First: We felt like we were at a fast food restaurant - meaning, you either give them your credit card to hold or pay cash as you order. That's like not trusting me to pay - but, I'm supposed to trust them for good food. I don't believe that's the way it should work. Second: The food. Two of our group had the Cottage Pie. I've never seen a cottage pie as dry as these. It looked like over fried hamburger with a couple of carrots, one pea and topped with mashed potatoes (which were good). One in our group had the Fish and Chips - they were as good as Long John Silvers. I had the Bangers and Mash - it was delicious!! Three sausages on top of mashed potatoes and caramelized onions. Finally, the restaurant was very nice (inside and out). The floors on the inside were really pretty. The inside does give you the feel of a pub with the warm atmosphere. Would I go again - doubtful. The big turnoff for everyone in our group was the pay in advance or a held credit card. And, consequently because of that system, there is no wait staff - just a person from the kitchen who delivers your food. read more

Stopped in on our bicycles and were very pleased. They had Smithwicks Irish red on tap which was a big deal for us! There is a smallish menu. We had the fish and chips which was great.
