    Apple Walnut Salad
    Angela A.

Chicanes Promises Upscale Dining but Delivers an Uneven Experience Chicanes carries itself like an upscale dining room, which is why the night's missteps stood out more than they should have. The evening began on a sour note, and not because of anything on the plate. A heavy downpour had turned the entrance into a shallow lake with slick footing, the kind that makes every step feel unsure. My husband took a hard fall, wrenching his back and bruising his hip. Another guest later mentioned the same slick approach, which tells me this is more than bad luck. For a restaurant that draws an older crowd, safety at the door should not be an afterthought. Inside, the welcome was much warmer. The staff was friendly and our server Ethan handled the holiday rush with calm attention. He stayed present without hovering and made sure we had what we needed. If only the kitchen had matched his level of care. The Thanksgiving menu looked promising, but the execution never quite reached the level the price tag promised. The lobster arrived overcooked and clinging stubbornly to its shell. The sauce meant to lift it fell flat. The butternut squash bisque was pleasant enough, though short on depth. The apple walnut salad was a clear winner. Crisp, balanced, and bright. It deserves a permanent spot on the menu. The entrées continued the theme of missed opportunities. The vegetables needed seasoning, especially the Brussels sprouts, which tasted like they had skipped the last step before leaving the kitchen. The potatoes au gratin stole the show, rich and comforting, which only highlighted how muted everything else tasted. For a meal tipping the scale at around $140, the food should meet the standard the setting implies. Chicanes has the bones of a great restaurant. The staff is strong, the room is inviting, and the menu choices read well. But the flavors need more care, more confidence, and more seasoning. A place aiming for an upscale experience has to deliver more than ambiance. There is potential here, but potential is not enough at this price. With steadier footing at the entrance and sharper execution in the kitchen, Chicanes could be worth the splurge. Tonight, it wasn't.

The food and service were wonderful. The tap water was not so great so definitely upgrade to bottle water. The restaurant was busy due to the race weekend so it was a little louder than usual but it was not super loud so the ambiance was warm and enjoyable. The restaurant has variety of seating booths, tables, intimate settings and more. We enjoyed a glass of wine and their Old Fashion was fantastic. Hubby got the Chicken Picatta and I got the Linguini with blackened chicken. Their bread was really good as well.

If you are in Sebring, you need to stop at Chicanes. The restaurant is simply the best in town. The bar area is really nice too. The staff are so attentive. The wine list is amazing! Wines from all around the world. Their list rivals the finest Miami restaurants. I started with a Green Goddess Wedge Salad. The Green Goddess dressing was delicious. It was a nice change from the standard blue cheese wedge dressing. My entree was the Suprema Christina, a classic from 1992. It's a tender chicken breast pan sautéed with mushrooms in a sherry lobster sauce. It came with two jumbo Key West shrimp and linguini pasta. The side green beans were pan seared and nicely wrinkled. The whole dish was an A+. I also enjoyed a nice Justin Cabernet Sauvignon. This restaurant and hotel are nicely positioned near the water. The lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas. I highly recommend visiting this great establishment.

We took our UK friends who were visiting here last night. The service was great, and the food was very good. Nice ambiance, and we made reservations at the last minute, but they had us a table all ready. Very nice.

This wasn't my first time here and it definitely won't be my last! Every time I go here it's amazing in every way possible. The rollovers melt in your mouth. The service is exceptional and I am always impressed with their staff. Their staff is friendly and attentive and always checking in on you but not in an annoying way! Can't wait to go back!

We arrived in town for the weekend and though we made last minute reservations, we were seated immediately at a cozy table for two, tucked away in the corner with a wonderful view of the lake. Our server, Alyssa, was friendly and professional, attentive, but not obtrusive. The food was delicious, with large portions. I had the pan fried grouper, off of the seasonal menu, while my husband had the French onion soup and the Delmonico steak, which was brought to the table sizzling. Between the main courses, bread, salads, and appetizers, neither of us were able to finish our meals. Next time we are in Sebring, we will definitely dine here again.

Nothing special. Food was bland and overpriced. I had the Fettuccine Alfredo. Service was ok. Nice vibe being on the lake.

The inside dining room is wonderful! A true old-fashioned tropical feel. Our waiter was a little odd, but competent. I wasn't real hungry, so I just had a shrimp cocktail. My friend had the duck. The shrimp cocktail was delicious, the cocktail sauce, a bit spicy. Had too much pepper for me. When I mentioned that to the waiter, he told me it was not spicy. He said it only had pepper in it. I said well after I mixed it was a little better. I don't think a waiter should contradict what a customer says if there is a problem; he should help to alleviate the issue. Obviously, somebody didn't stir the cocktail sauce well, still the pepper was a bit heavy. What's troubling is I specifically asked the waiter if the sauce would be hot , as in spicy. My friend said the duck was very nice. As I recall, they served some complementary bread and it was good. I hope to go back to Palm Heights, where this restaurant is located, and I am sure to go back to Tillies.

We were a larger party of 11 and got a prime spot on the beach literally 10 feet from the softly lapping sea water. Our server had the sense to get the kids orders in and served to ensure a delightful experience for the adults. Make sure to peruse the specialty drink menu that can be crafted with our without alcohol. Our food choices roamed the entire menu and everyone loved their meals so feel free to take a suggestion or go your own route. I had a perfectly cooked burger that left me stuffed and satisfied. Expect resort pricing but trust me that the memorable meal you eat will substantiate the price. Truly a one-of-a-kind meal that you'll remember for years to come.

The decor is classic 50s roadside diner with old license plates on the wall, an old pickup truck outside and a TV on ESPN by my table. The menu is classic Americana / diner fare with a southern touch. I'd been on an empty stomach through my 3 hour drive and meetings, so by the time I sat down to eat, I almost would have even eaten the paper the menu was written on :) Since it was a little bit on the chilly side, I started with their hearty cup of baked potato soup, deliciously loaded with cheese & bacon bits in a stew. Their warm, buttery and fluffy rolls topped with cinnamon butter were worth every single gram of carbs and almost functioned as a dessert themselves. Then came my yummy main dish, a roasted half chicken with just the right amount of skin and garnished with a smoky barbecue sauce. It was a sizable bird, taking up a nice bit of plate real estate, though leaving just enough room for a warm and topped with butter sweet potato. Needless to say, I still had room for dessert, and enjoyed their Keylime pie. Mal, my waitress, was very pleasant and I didn't have to wait for soda refills. Plating was also on time. I noticed they also had a Valentine's Day local special. It seems like this is a happening place in Sebring and I'd stop by next time I'm in the area.

You are now reading a review by the nationally renowned 5G Guru! Yup, that's me! Why me? In 1986 I…read morewas chowing down almost weekly at the very first 5G in Northern VA! I knew the father and his four sons by their first names, and they knew mine. Moving on, I have eaten at 5Gs in way over twenty states for a total of dozens and dozens if not hundreds of meals. This review is all about the often-ignored hotdog. So, what do you need to know about this bad boy? 1. It's all beef and made by Hebrew National. The dog is Kosher, but the meal is not because it is grilled on the same grill as bacon and other stuff. Bottom line, they start with a great dog. 2. The dog is split lengthwise before it is grilled. Because of this it needs a slighter bigger bun. More about this later. 3. All the burger toppings are available for the dog. Pro Tip #1- If you are insane, you can order cheese on your dog here. If you do, they will use a Kraft Single! Crazy right! I would rather have a root canal with no pain meds than do that! Pricing- 5Gs is infamous for being spendy! I call it the "Gasp!" factor. I ordered a dog, small Cajun Fries and a small drink and it set me back $14.49. This is much better than a burger meal so the gasping is much less. Presentation- You know the deal. The dog is wrapped in foil and at the bottom of a brown paper bag. On top are about a bazillion delicious fries. Pro Tip #2- Many folks think the fries should be crisper. Just ask and they will be happy to accommodate you and make them extra crispy! Unwrap the foil and you'll immediately see what I mean about the slighter bigger bun. I don't normally cut my dog in half but I did for this review so you can see a cross-section of the split dog. Taste- This is one seriously good dog! You get a nice snap when you bite into it. You can really taste the beef and it is very nicely grilled and caramelized. Among the big chains, most reviews place this dog in the top 3 and sometimes #1 in the country! I would agree. To me, a dog, fries and a drink here is a five star meal!
