Never even noticed the place till I got a ad about it. Stopped in and figured I'd try it out. Cute place. And not too loud. Had a chicken panini and salad. Didn't care for the chicken as it was deli meat. The bread was good and so was the salad. Also a milkshake that was good. Took home a few cupcakes and they were moist and flavorful. Great little cafe with an interesting menu!! One item struck me but I'm a little nutty. I had discovered the great peanut butter and salami sandwich in the seventies and it's still on my favorite!!! However aside from a more "traditional menu " there and behold another trend setter and the great crispy bacon and peanut butter and honey sandwich was available and totally delicious!!! We found Nutmeg Cafe restaurant on BringFido. When we stopped in after a 2 hour drive, I asked an employee if we could eat on the patio with our dogs. I was told yes so I used the restroom and let my husband know. He walked the dogs before coming in. The same employee came out with menus and our dog barked. Without a chance to settle, out storms another employee (maybe owner?) who is clearly pissed. She said, "technically we aren't supposed to have dogs out here, especially if they're going to act like THAT! I'm going to have to ask you to leave." I think there was a polite, customer service manner in which that could have been handled. We could have ordered to go but they clearly weren't offering. We never got a chance to even look at the menu. I guarantee we won't be back nor will our friends. Customer service matters. read more

This wonderful joint has been rated 4.5 stars for years and they deserve it! I was blowing through Sebring and wanted a lighter lunch, and this is just the place. They are a panini/sandwich/salad place along with some delicious cupcakes. Everything they possibly can is fresh cooked/baked. There are no burgers, and they don't have a fryer. This is about as far away from fast food as you can get! Atmosphere- An eclectic mix of mismatched tables and chairs. I think about ten tables overall. This is a very casual place. Service- They are legendary for their fresh food and also legendary for being slightly understaffed. It takes a while for the food to come out of the kitchen. I wouldn't go here if I were in a hurry, but the food is worth the wait. You order at the register and they bring the food to your table. My very friendly server was simply fine and shared that she was only seventeen. They cash you out at the table electronically. Food- I ordered the one half Muffuletta Sandwich which comes with one side, so I went with pasta salad. That goes for $6.99 and it a very fair price. My sandwich was awesome, and the focaccia bread was terrific. The Olive Salad on the sandwich was unbelievably good. The pasta salad was very tasty, but they need to work on the presentation. In needs some color. From past visits, I don't remember it always being that way. I was full but I'll say again that the cupcakes are killer good here. So much better than fast food and worth a stop if you are blowing down Rout 27 southbound. read more

I can understand the staff not having a good day and am glad to hear there was no risk of foodborne illness despite the food not all being at the correct temperature. My symptoms could have been due to being dehydrated. I didn't have any lasting aftereffects, and might consider visiting again if I happened to be in the area. read more

So thrilled to have a great quality healthy restaurant in town, not easy around here...finally! Stopped in for a late lunch and my husband had the Cuban panini and it was outstanding- I had the Waldorf Bowl and it was by far the best salad I've had! Planning on going back weekly to try more of their great selection of food, there's something for everyone here! The inside is uniquely decorated & quaint and nicely separated tables that give you a safe covid space. The staff is very friendly and the service was great! Such a great find!! Out for the day and decided to stop for lunch. We'll definitely be back and will make this our destination for a motorcycle ride. We had the Cuban sandwich with potato salad, 3 cheese grilled cheese with fruit, Cobb salad, snickerdoodle cupcake, and chocolate coconut cupcake. All of them we exceptional. The ranch dressing appeared homemade and was probably the best we've ever had. The potato salad was red potatoes in a mustard/Mayo sauce. It was flavorful with just the right amount of dill. The Cuban was loaded with meat and pressed perfectly. The cupcakes were moist with just the right amount of density. The dining area is large and the decor is eccentric. Eat local. Nutmeg's is a small business that focuses on lunch and dinner with a variety of tasty sandwiches and soups and baked items. I knew right off to go with the daily special, which was a tuna melt on rye with sharp cheddar cheese and bits of green apple. It was fantastic delicious. I also got a lemon buttercream cupcake for dessert. Nice and moist, even five hours later back at the hotel. Great stuff. Furniture in the place is an eclectic collection of random chairs and tables, but it works. Good service and a great sandwich. Yummo! read more
