I've came here for their hand-pulled noodles since I was a kid. This place has always drawn people in because the chef is out front pulling and slamming the noodles he's made fresh. Since coming back to this food court after YEARS, I was very excited to revisit one of my old-time favourite spots...BUT I was quite disappointed overall. Although the service was quick (~10 min wait), the noodles were evenly a medium width & had a great chewy texture, and my meal came with a cup of soy bean milk... the soup is unflavourful and bland, they skimped out so much on the beef and bok choy.

This is the noodle shop located in the food court at Pacific Mall. If you see a guy whipping and stretching noodles, you'll know you've reached the right place! It's hard finding a seat in this food court but this place makes it worth the try. We came here to try: -Dan Dan Noodles with Beef 4/5 Noodle portions are huge! This place makes it differently than what I'm used to at other places as they don't add nuts or pork on top of the noodles. The beef comes at an additional cost of $3. The soup could have been more peanut-y. The hand-pulled noodles were so good though! They were cooked perfectly and it carried the soup well in every bite. -Dumpling Noodles 3/5 The dumplings were small and had a texture like perogies' skin. I also added chili oil to the broth as I found that it could have used more flavouring. Noodles were springy and tasted great, but I ended up mixing these noodles in my dan dan soup instead. Both bowls came with soya milk which was enjoyable. There's something about a cup of soya milk that has a satisfying taste after a salty, heavy bowl of noodles. Overall, a great place to reach for a hearty meal after you're done shopping. Definitely try out the dan dan noodles!

I was feeling a little under the weather and convinced hubby we needed to visit Pacific Mall for hand pulled noodle soup. Sun's Kitchen is one of the few places I know of in Markham that makes hand pulled noodles. Walking towards the stall in the Heritage Town food court, you can hear loud pounding noises which is the sound that the dough makes when it is being slapped down onto the kneading surface. We both ordered the beef noodle soup (less than $10) which had chewy thick hand pulled noodles. You can tell they are not packaged noodles by the lack of uniformity in noodle shape and thickness. Our soups were served with pieces of Shanghai bok choy and came with a cup of soya milk (hubby managed to score two cups of soya milk with his meal). The beef had some tendon but hubby (who is not normally a fan of tendon) found the beef and tendon to be tender. The soup itself was clear and not oily. It did, however, lack flavour. A bit of hot sauce helped tremendously in giving the dish a much needed boost of flavour. Overall the beef noodle soup fell short of my expectations for this type of soup. My noodles also were not as chewy as I normally like, and I suspect they were a tad overcooked. I prefer the beef noodle soup at Big Beef Bowl Hand Pulled Noodle House. Would likely return to Sun's Kitchen when in the area and craving for noodles but would be more likely to try some of their non-soup noodle offerings.

Great location for quick and well-proportioned meals. I got the beef ho fen here and it was very good for the price I paid ($8-9 for a plateful). My brother who is a but picky enjoyed it a lot so that's how you know they have good stuff!!

Noodles So Fesh! - not a typo :)

LUNCH "Numba Sex! Numba Sex!" A women with a Dongbei accent can be heard yelling. "Numba sex ur order ready!" God, I love pacific mall food court. Its been a minute since I last reached here and when I do, you know its dan dan noodle time at Suns Kitchen! Freshly made, slammed in yo face, pulled noodles! Add that to a slightly spicy pea-nutty soup base and you got some wholesome ring of fire tonight! ;) (tmi) This place never disappoints! Where else can you walk away feeling satisfied for less then $10? And still have enough to go buy that fake Canada Goose jacket downstairs? I kau-tau (kowtow) to you my favourite place in the food court. Stay consistent always! See you again in 10 years :)

Fresh handmade noodles!!! The A7 stir fried rice noodle with beef was good for $7.95. If you feel for noodles, check it out!

#3 Spare Rib noodles with bak choy, meat chewy.
Colanie B.

It's amazing how fast that man turns a mound of dough into a handful of noodles. I had the #3 Spare Rib Noodle soup. The meat was tough and the soup was bland. Tried to add the chili oil and the chiangkang vinegar but it didn't help, not enough depth in the broth. Hubby had the #16 Dan Dan noodles and added beef for an additional $2. Tasted much better than mine but still nothing I would order again especially since the beef tasted old like they were leftovers just tossed in the soup. These noodles have substance to them and I feel they would be much better in a saucy dish than soups imho.

3.5 stars Sun's kitchen for sure is the busiest food stall at the food court in Pacific Mall's Heritage Village. It is fun to see how the guy pulling the noodle right in front of you! Bang Bang Bang! Flip Flip Flip! (looks like great arm strengthening and with cardio components exercise routine) +0.5 star I ordered Carleen L's favourite the Beef Pull Noodle soup ($5.99) with a soy drink. The soup base is ok, a little on the salty side but the soup based is not rich with beef flavour. The noodle is ok, I found noodle a little undercook because some of them has a floury taste. Extra half star is awarded to the generous amount of bok choy makes this a balance meal! (protein+carb+veggie) Love the all photos menu, it does make selection a little easier! Great friendly services! They accepts Cash only!

Amazing noodle joint in the heart of the pacific mall food court. If you hear a loud thumping sound that lasts for a while, you know you've found the right place. Noodles are made from scratch per order essentially. There's a person at the front of the shop just pounding away at the dough - stretching and making noodles all the time. Ordered the beef and the veggie noodle soup. The beef was tender (somewhat fatty) and I like it the way it was served. I don't mind some nice tender fat when it calls for it. Noodles were deliciously fresh and the flavour of the broth was quite good. My only bone to pick is their dad hot sauce. It is really not hot. I watched the guy ahead of me unload 6 heaping tablespoons of hot sauce and I thought he was crazy. Turns out he's probably a regular looking for a kick. Lesson learned and I will be back again. This time - lots of hot sauce!!!

Priscilla W.

A strong 3.5* for me! Located on the 3rd floor of pacific mall inside the food court. It isn't too far from the bridge entrance, stick to the right and you'll find it. It is situated right in front of Wanda's Waffles. What caught my attention was the colourful food pictures that are posted every where on the walls. There are SO many options. When I was there during lunch time, there was a man there kneading/making noodles and I noticed that he would only make the noodles when customers order to maximize the freshness. I ordered the bitter melon with beef noodle soup ($~10 tax in). There was an extra $2 surcharge for the dan dan noodles that are made by the man and I am glad that I paid extra because the noodles were chewy - just the way I like it! There was a slight kick to the noodle soup and the entire thing was very flavourful. I'll definitely come back to try other stuff there.

Beef with noodles

You're paying a very good price for both a meal and a show. The hand pulled noodles are made in house and right in front of your eyes which is pretty wicked. Moreover, the food is so warm and delicious. I get the beef with noodles. I love the uneven thickness of the noodles and the meat is tender while the broth is hot and salty. The food is so good you almost don't need any additional sauces - ALMOST. I just wish they had a bottle of oyster sauce lying around somewhere so I could give them five stars.

Beef hand pulled noodle stir fry with veggies and soy bean milk
Virginia C.

Hidden in an alley at the Pacific Mall, Sun is amazing. This is a hand pulled noodle shop. On a hot day, I was not going to get my usual beef noodle soup, but instead I opted for a beef stir fry. Wow. The best part of the meal is everything comes with homemade soy bean milk... ahhhhhh!!!!

Spicy noodles #17
Phillip S.

Coming here with Jen C. She's been here before and recommended we try this place since the reviews are pretty good. Located on the second floor of P-Mall Sun's Kitchen dishes out some classics and if you love homemade noodles this is your place as you can watch their workers making it from scratch which is always a PLUS in my books...beware if you hear loud pounding noises...its because the chef is making your noodle lol! I decided to try #17 their spicy noodles with BBQ Pork. Though presentation was lovely, the broth from the soup was deliciously spicy...not too spicy. Only drawback was the amount of BBQ pork.....only 4-5 slices..what happened to the rest of it? The overall dish was delicious from a taste-perspective. In addition we shared a side order of their pancake which was delicious and not drenched in oil. Price 4/5 (it's cheap) Taste 4.5/5 Overall 3/5 (only because lack of ingredient in my bowl)

Personally, I felt like many of the dishes were elevated or fancier versions of Asian classics. The crab truffle chawanmushi was super creamy, with crab meat on top and truffle flavors. For $40...ya idk it wasn't anything crazy and I would have loved it with a bowl of rice (maybe that's me being too Chinese lol). But also I've seen other review of the chawanmushi and it seems like every time, the amount of crab on it is different. Mine didn't seem to have as much compared to the other pictures I have seen which just tell me that they have inconsistencies. It just felt like a lot to just be eating on its own. The mala cream udon was really tasty, I loved the creaminess, cheesiness, and the addition of Chinese pork and spices but it also felt like something that could be make at home. The tuna tataki came with only three pieces for $22, which felt quite small for the price. The flavors were good, but the portion was underwhelming. My favorite was probably the Basque cheesecake it had a rich, creamy texture with a slight hint of saltiness. The Korean fried chicken sliders were also great, the crispy chicken with a well-balanced sauce. For drinks, we got the Zazatar and Golden Pear, and both were really good. The Zazatar, in particular, was quite strong which I liked. While the food was enjoyable, it didn't quite feel worth the price. For this style of food, I think you could find similar options and flavors at a more reasonable price point elsewhere in Markham. Nothing of the dishes like blow me away which is why I'm saying this. The staff were very kind and attentive, which I appreciated. However, the timing of the dishes was a bit off. We received and finished the tuna, then the sliders came out, followed by the udon. Finished that and then we waited about 15-20 minutes before my main (the chawanmushi) arrived, which by that point my partner had already long finished eating. I understand that chawanmushi takes longer to prepare since it's steamed, but a heads-up or better coordination with the rest of the dishes would have been nice. Like severing the appetizers at the same time and serving the mains at the same time. Instead of having the dishes come out one by one and such a long wait between the mains. The space itself is beautiful, with an upscale vibe, great for catching up I don't regret trying it, but it's probably not somewhere I'd return to.

The music is a bit loud and reminded me of club/lounge music, not a chill jazz relaxing brunch atmosphere. Service was slow and the kitchen even slower. When the hostess sat us at our reserved table, she brought up the 90 minute seating rule. Our food didn't come out until the hour mark, so come prepared for hungry or little ones. The Korean french toast has an amazing crunch on the outside and super moist and soft brioche inside. The four slices looked big but was very easy to demolish. PB & J Hamburger was interesting! That is definitely a brunchy sounding dish and it did not disappoint. It was a delicious, messy, goopy burger with so much flavour. Burrata arugula salad with long thin strips of prosciutto was very light. The fig wedges were sweet and this dish was a great starter without being too heavy. Biscoff Latte is always a pleaser; bit of a strange glassware choice for a hot beverage as it has no handles.

Kiu wanted a bit of a change from being known as the ramen place. This eatery is on the second floor with Cineplex, GoodLife Fitness, and more. You can get here by escalator or elevator. The Yelp event had the best sashimi. I sampled scallops, shrimp, and deep-fried shrimp heads. I also enjoyed proteins. They included New Zealand lamb, amazu chicken, and calamari. This eatery also had sushi. The torched sushi was especially excellent. I still haven't had ramen here. Someday, I will! Recently, during Lunar New Year, I was invited to my friend's place for dinner. I brought a dish. She brought a Kiu platter. It had something like thirty pieces of sashimi. It was chef's choice with the varieties. Everything was exceptionally fresh and yummy. I'm drooling reminiscing about how good the sashimi was. It was nice to know that you can still get takeout from this restaurant. I got the impression that the owners wanted more folks to enjoy the experience at their eatery. It was still special devouring amazing sashimi at my friend's place. There are individual gender-neutral washroom stalls in this eatery. Each one was wheelchair-accessible. Came here on a Friday night and had such a fun experience…read more The space has a great after dark vibe with dim lighting and neon accents, cozy but still lively. We ordered the oden set with yogurt soju, Taiwanese popcorn chicken, and the salmon fried udon with uni sauce. Everything was super comforting and flavorful, especially the oden on a cold night. What really made it stand out was the bingo game. It got the whole bar involved and made the night feel more interactive and social. We ended up chatting with a group nearby and even taught them a Malaysian yam seng cheers, which turned into a really fun moment. Great spot for a lively night out with good food and energy. Would come back.

Cocktails were fine, but not particularly memorable. Creativity & Presentation -- 7/10 Straightforward and competent. Nothing that surprised, but nothing out of place. Hospitality -- 8/10 Friendly, attentive, and genuinely engaging staff. Ambiance -- 7/10 A cozy Asian-themed bar. Tables are quite close together, which adds energy but limits privacy. Value for Experience -- 9/10 Strong value for the price. Easy to see this being a regular spot for many.

This is a cafe by day and lounge by night (with karaoke and live band). We came on a Sunday…read moreafternoon and there were plenty of seating. The latte and Horlick latte in Chinese themed cups and saucers were cute and the matcha Sando was crunchier and more tasty than expected. Do be careful of the sando as it topples over easily and we sadly lost all our cream to the table after the picture was taken. They use Hatch coffee beans - lattes were not very strong but we could taste the aroma of the beans. There's also free board games to play and a photo room for pictures too. Great place and space to chill at Times Square. It's on the same floor as Awesome Hotpot on the second floor, just make a left after going up the escalators.

If you think Batman has a (spoiled billionaire play boy by day and dark vigilante by night) complex…read morepersonality, Sugar Cafe Lounge's persona is equally complicated. Rarely, would you find a place that can pull off being a brunch/lunch place during the mornings and afternoons and a club and lounge by night. On a Saturday morning where I was looking for a place to grab a bite and to kill a bit of time, I realized through Yelp that Sugar Cafe Lounge is actually open by 10am. I didn't even know they open in the mornings prior to this. The vibe of this place strikes me as a modernized Chinese karaoke place. It totally reminds me of the karaoke places that I used to frequent back in the day. They have the same black and neon purple/pink colour scheme. Dice shakers were readily available and visible. The modernisation portion can be attributed to the existence of a photo booth and kildult style cartoon characters wall stickers along the walls/window. And for a "club/lounge", the servers were definitely very polite and attentive which is a stark contrast to the service that you may come to expect in early 2000s karaoke places. My feeling towards the curry katsu egg Benedict is equally complicated. I think the dish has so much potential, but currently has several flaws. Let's start on a positive note. The hollandise sauce was a fit with the curry flavour. The built in acidity also worked to tone down the sauce's heaviness. But even with the acidity, it was a pretty heavy sauce. I like the taste of the sauce, but it's just too too heavy. The egg whites for the Benedict was a bit over cooked and getting on the rubbery side, yet the yolk remained runny. Which I found odd. The katsu pork is a bit on the smallish side and the batter did not seem like the Japanese panko style batter (seemed a bit closer to HK style). The pork was under seasoned, so the taste was hugely reliant on the sauce. They clearly used some form of milk bread for the dish. It's a decently thick slice, and it didn't seem like your typical wonder bread, but the bread also added to the heaviness of the entire dish. I have no clue how the vibe is at night or how busy it gets, but my feeling towards this place is a little bit complicated.
