It's been a while since I've returned. This spot has been here a long time and is a small no frills local Korean restaurant. I ordered 62) Soft Tofu with Seafood Stew. Good portions and I liked the banchan with the potatoes. Unfortunately, their ceiling fan was broken and they did not turn on their AC. I found it quite suffocating. After a while the server ended up opening the door to let some air in but it was still quite hot in there. I hope they fix this issue soon!

I came here on recommendation from a family member. It is one of those hole in the wall experience with a couple of tables and the feel of a Korean diner. I originally wanted to have my usually stone pot bibimbap whenever I venture to a Korean restaurant, but the weather was a bit warm, so I ended up ordering the chicken bulgogi with rice. The chicken bits were cut into tiny pieces, it had a bit which hinder my taste bud, definitely was not cool. Because of the underwhelming display of my food I ended up taking it back home. Reheating it did not help as the chicken bits became hard, threw it out. Won't be ordering this dish again. They lady serving was very nice which made the sit in really nice.

Sunrise House is a Korean restaurants located in the Bloor and Christie neighborhood. This is a mom and pop operation that serves Korean comfort food. With the return of the cold weather, this is an ideal place to get some hot Korean stews. We had the Gamjatang (Pork Bone soup), Doenjang Jjigae (Soybean soup) and Seafood Kalguksu (Hand cut noodles). The soups are not heavily flavored with MSG and but there's still a comforting taste to them. They give out generous portions of the meat and seafood in our Pork Bone and Kalgusuk. The restaurant is not very spacious and tables are tight together. Service was good but it got a bit hectic when it got really busy. This is a takeout and dine-in place. Paid street and lot parking available.

Food was so good, forgot to take a picture lol.

Nice little mom and pop shop, serving tasty comfort Korean food. Only down side is that the place is super small, and you often have to wait for a table. Other than that great food, great service and reasonable priced.

10% off with cash! Came here with my friend for bibimbap and there was still a ton of seats left during Monday evening. I got the bugolgi bibimbap ($16.99) while my friend got the spicy chicken bibimbap. Honestly no complaints - good portion of white rice with a healthy amount of meat and veggies including zucchini, radish, carrots, spinach, and bean sprouts. It came with their delicious bibimbap sauce. Service was good and they checked up on us twice and was happy to replenish our side dishes. The side dishes included seaweed (so flavourful!), kimchi, potato (delicious), bean sprouts, and pickled radish. I did not give 5 stars because there is no air conditioning (was hot inside but there are some fans) and it is pricier than other restaurants by a couple dollars. I would return still!

You know you're in the right place when you step into this restaurant. I'd never been to Korea. I just got the feeling that this is a very legit Korean restaurant. Maybe it's because of the colouring style of the interior decoration, the noise from every table, the tiny washroom, etc. Anyway, the ambience just made me feel like I was in a K-drama. The menu was dirty and oily which might scare some newbies; however, the food WILL impress you. I won't regret coming here to have dinner and you'll be glad you don't follow others' reviews to go to the BBQ restaurant across the street, Daldongnae, which is a nightmare.

I have tried sunrise house quite many times before the pandemic and they have always been cheap and good, I love what I ate there and I think it's one of the affordable go-tos. So when I finally passed by ktown again i needed to go in, but this time it was just disappointing. We ordered seafood pancake with rice cake, pork bone soup and fried dumpling. The seafood pancake is extremely soggy, it has NO CRISP, it is so sad to eat it. Pork bone soup was small portion and may as well call it bean sprout soup, not flavorful at all too. Fried dumpling is okay, but just common ones. What makes me unhappy is that despite of the poor quality of food, they r still driving up their price which does not make any sense. with this price I can go to any other Korean store and get better food. Will I go again? Absolutely not

We needed a new Korean spot since our go to spot, the owners sadly retired and closed shop. We came to Sunrise as a lot of restaurants on Mondays on this strip are closed. We decided to try their tofu stew and split on a seafood pancake. I would say that the dishes were okay, the flavour was lacking a bit and seafood pancake flavour was just okay as well. Their side dishes were good though. I can see why this place can be busy since prices are good but I would say it was just okay for me. I would try others before coming back.

I feel conflicted about reviewing this place. This was our dining spot on our very first night in Toronto, but it didn't go smoothly for several reasons. I'll start with the positives: ++ Side dishes: above average, and the silent floor staff asked if we needed a refill, which didn't happen at another K place - - This small space of no more than a dozen tables was full when we got here, and we were asked (or ordered) to move to a two-person table before we got our food. I appreciate the busy vibe, but not ""how"" we were rushed to move without explanation or reasons. We just figured it out ourselves when they say a group of three new customers where we'd sat Salty food: miso soup was borderline inedible, but the saltiness of bulgogi prompted me to rinse out in the miso soup the entire meal. Enough said Needless to say, we would not rush to go back.

This is by far the most authentic Korean restaurant I've been to so far. The workers were very kind and welcoming, the food was amazing and very filling, and the ambiance was perfect for an evening meal. The prices are also very affordable. Please check it out if you're ever in the area!

I loveD Sunrise House. Then it morphed recently not for the better. Service: I went there recently and the usual server was replaced by someone else. 1. She didn't bring enough napkins for all of us. 2. She didn't come with tea or water so our cup sat empty until we asked for a jug of water. 3. Instead of a jug of water, she brought cups of water. 4. It took her a while to take our orders even though the restaurant was not full. 5. We had to ask for extra bowls for our food. Normally all those are automatically provided. 6. When we went to pay, she demanded that we must leave tips because we were there for 2 hours. To me, tips are earned, not a given, especially with such poor service. Menu: I ordered my usual pork bone soup. When I first went there about a year ago, it was $7.99. Then half a year ago, it increased by $1 to $8.99. Now it's $12!!! That's a huge increase. It's not like they added ingredients. If they want to adjust their price to be similar to neighbouring restaurants, then they should have more ingredients in their pork bone soup, like potatoes. And better environment with heat. And better service. What a shame. My friends and I likeD to frequent this place, but what with these changes, we are now opened to new experiences at other restaurants.

Came for a late lunch with a group of 4. We went in around 2 PM on a saturday and there was still a small line at the door. It's a small restaurant, with seating for about 20, and given how popular this restaurant is based on other reviews, getting a seat may be a challenge unless you're coming at an off time. I guess later than 2 PM. A big sign in the back reads "CASH ONLY", but there's an ATM next door if you usually prefer cards. They have bright green walls with all sorts of what appears to be random artwork and decorations of all sorts spread out along the walls throughout the restaurant. Washrooms are very small, and there's a simple sliding door that separates you from the hallway. It's not very clean, and if you're claustrophobic you might consider passing on it. On the menu, they have a good selection of items to choose from (80 items), whether you're looking for some fried rice, stew, bibimbamp, or some snacks like dumplings or pancakes. They also have a couple larger hot pots. The prices are pretty cheap as well, with most large meal items coming in at under $10. They serve up 6 different side-dishes, and offer refills. I tried the pork bone soup and fried rice with chicken in a stone bowl. Both dishes were quite spicy, and not the sweet kind of spice. If you can't handle spice, you might need to ask for more tea or water. I do enjoy spice, and would say it makes the dishes that much better. I can see why people would line up to get a meal here at 2 PM. Would recommend it if you're in koreatown.
