I invited my friend to be my guest at a recent Yelp experience at Yorkdale. He asked if we could do dinner that evening, too. I never say no to a meal, so we were game. Our original plan was to sit outside on the patio at a local pho restaurant. I got there before he did. To my dismay, I noticed that there were no seats outside and the open LED sign was dimmed. I called and spoke to a nice man. He indicated that his eatery was closing at 8:30 pm. I was outside the place at 8:10 pm. Ugh! My friend pulled his car up to mine. We needed a plan B for dinner. I saw Shoeless Joe's, which was in the same plaza, but had a huge lineup. He offered to drive around and see what was there. He came back a minute later and said there was Seoul House. We both like Korean food, so it was a no-brainer heading over here. This place closes at 11 pm. Yay! Although the name implies that it's Korean cuisine, you can also get Japanese food. My friend is still more comfortable dining outdoors these days. If you are doing some grilling, you must dine in. We both weren't interested in a doing any grilling, so we found a nice table under a parasol outside. Staff here are attentive and nice. We got hot tea immediately as we looked over the menu. The tea tasted like it had toasted rice in it. Delightful! We got the following items: - Japchae - Yukgae jang - Diet Coke (me) I ordered the first item and my friend ordered the second one. We ended up sharing as if it were a family-style meal. We got extra utensils after my friend saw me invert my chopsticks to pick up food, and then flip them back to eat. "That's so Chinese," he said. "That's because I am!" I replied. The funny thing is that he is, too. It's efficient, but we were thrilled to get another spoon and chopsticks. We started with the banchan. The kimchi here is the way that I like it. I don't like the in-your-face spicy burn that feels rude when it comes to kimchi. This one was gentle with the heat being mild. I love bean sprouts and pretty much ate them all by myself. The potatoes were delicious. My friend devoured them. The peanuts had a honey coating that I thoroughly enjoyed. There was one other dish that I'm not sure what it was. I want to say bean curd. I loved it that I ate most of that, too. The japchae is fantastic! I love vermicelli. This dish had stir-fried sweet potato vermicelli with chopped beef and lots of veggies. Our server asked if I wanted the noodled cut into four sections. Yes, please! It made eating them so much easier. I was in heaven eating them. The flavour was incredible. The noodles were chewy and done perfectly. The beef was tender and so good. It was the best japchae that I have ever had. I'd so go back and get more. My friend had most of the yukgae jang. It's a spicy stew dish with beef brisket, veggies, an egg dropped into it, with noodles on the bottom. It came with steamed rice. He loved it, although his tastebuds have changed since we last met for spicy food and he couldn't handle it. Luckily, the banchan and steamed rice helped put out the fire here and there. I had some of the stew and it was flavourful. I passed on the noodle part because I was enjoying my japchae, but I didn't find the stew super spicy like my friend. Maybe my tastebuds have changed! The beef brisket was so tender and delicious. I had a bit of the sauce on a bit of rice. It's definitely comfort food. We had a great experience. The last time we were out, I paid for our dinner. This time, he reciprocated. He paid with a debit card through a portable payment machine. It was easy. It was a great find. I would definitely come back for more japchae and hopefully try something else on the menu. I'm drooling just thinking about the japchae! (301)

Bf was craving Korean again so we looked for the closest thing around, which happened to be Seoul House. This place is huge but sadly they were pretty much empty on this weekday night. We were seated promptly and ordered kanpoonggi (deep fried sweet and spicy chicken) and bulgogi stone pot bibimbap. I wasn't expecting anything but the food was capital G, GOOD. Not the most amazing Korean food I've ever had but pretty good stuff that happily satisfied our cravings. The side dishes were on point too and they had candied peanuts which isn't often given as a side dish. Not only that but awesome service! Didn't get her name but she was considerate and efficient. Took our order quickly, with ease, and we didn't tell her we were sharing but she knew and brought us small sharing plates. Every time dishes came out, she rearranged our plates to make sure they were centered between us so we could easily share. She was so sweet in checking in on us with all smiles too. So glad to know I have a place like this around this area. :)

Great establishment across from Yorkdale Mall and is so much better than food court food! The restaurant is a very cute Korean place that offers a wide variety of dishes! The service is very quick to come out and is fairly priced for good food! The tofu stew was pretty good and filled with a lot of seafood!

Pretty good authentic Korean BBQ place in Toronto. They are on a busy road as well as a busy shopping plaza. Parking is shared with the other places in the plaza. I was dining with a buddy and we went with the grill. The only downside to this place was you had to order two orders of certain meats. It wasn't a big deal for us as we had big appetites that day. Plenty of side dishes and there was tons of food. You get two sets of tongs so you can grab the uncooked stuff with separate tongs. They also check on you to make sure you are cooking the meat enough and not over cooking it as well.

    I wanted to try the seafood stone pot bibimbap, but they said they didn't have it. I got the $16 Hoe Deopbap instead and it was pretty good. This dish comes with raw salmon and white fish on top of fresh vegetables (cabbage, lettuce, shredded beets, and carrots) and a side of rice. They also gave me hot tea, miso soup and banchan, which were all really tasty. Plenty of parking in the private lot. ....| \ _ , , , - - , , _ , .../ , ` . - ' ` ' . _ \ - ; ; ; , _ ..| , a - ) ) _ . ; . ( ` - ` - ' - ' ' - - - ' ' ( _ / . _ ) - ' ( _ \ _ ) 2018

An alright Korean place by Yorkdale Mall! I've eaten here a few times over the years with my husband and friends who live in the area but I have to admit that we often only decide to come here when we're not sure of what else to eat in the area, need to eat something decently priced (comparable to other Korean places) and where the dishes come out fast enough that we're all not hangry. Luckily, we've always managed to get seated pretty quickly whether we're a party of two or a group of 5 or 6 as there's a good amount of seating in the restaurant. It gets busy but never to the point that there are line ups out the door whenever I've visited. There are a good number of options for Korean dishes such as bulgogi, saucy chicken or beef type dishes, a few kinds of soup, and different BBQ meats to cook over a grill as well depending on what you feel like having. We tend to get the bulgogi and pork bone soup, both of which are a good size portion, filling, and tasty enough. I also like their assortment of apps such as the kimchi, pickled cucumbers and soup that help to hold you over while waiting for the mains to come, which don't take unreasonably long. Service is good enough as well - staff are prompt and efficient with getting orders taken and delivered. Again, an overall decent choice for Korean food when you're in North York.

Its a large establishment, serving Japanese and Korean cuisine. The decor is minimal and basic, the menu is large and the servers cheerful. We wanted to eat some soup so we got a braised beef soup and kimchi fried rice. Between the two of the portion was sufficient to be shared. It is not a bad meal, but I have had significantly better stew and definitely a much flavorful kimchi rice. If you are in the area and starving this can be one of your options however the plaza is laced with food options and this is not a particular place to see in on.

Have had their items many times now but their sushi and sashimi platters were a pleasant surprise to order Super fresh and good portion sizes for the price

Waiting for that cheese to become a river.....
    Cin C.

In all honestly, we were drawn to this restaurant simply by an image of a river of melted cheese circling a central pan of chicken stirfry. The price is a little steep for what you get, with each order being $20.00 with a 2 order minimum before they even crack open the special two-sectioned pan. But I've never seen anything like it before, so we decided to go for the dual circumference experience. The dish comes to the table with the large chunks of chicken already precooked in the kitchen on top of a bed of mixed vegetables. The circle of shredded mozzarella cheese doesn't come melted, so the whole cast iron pan gets placed on the propane gas stove and it takes a couple minutes for it to liquidize. The moment it melts, you dunk the chicken in the cheese river - picking up chunks of corn and pineapple (surprise!! there are pineapples in there!!) as you go. For pro level experience, add in some rice cakes which cook to the softest chewy delicious bite. If you have to have carbs, add a fried rice to your order. They wait until you've finished most of the chicken-cheese river combo, before bringing over a bowl of rice, seaweed, kimchi and veggies that gets dumped into the chicken with all it's juices. Give it a couple minutes for the bottom to crisp up a bit and dig in!! A fun experience in all, but be prepared to smell like meat and smoke for the rest of the day!!
