I had two good breakfast experiences at the Sunrise. There was plenty of parking in their private lot, the staff was pleasant, kind and very attentive and the old diner felt welcoming with whitty signs hung throughout and somewhat newer booths and tables. Their menu is full of typical diner grub, but they did have crepes on the menu which you don't see too often. I kept it simple and ordered scrambled eggs, rye toast, home fries and bacon on my first visit and scrambled eggs, rye toast, home fries and pork roll on the second. The food came out quickly and was a good portion, hot and fresh. Their coffee was an ok diner roast that drank well black. The bathroom was pretty clean on both visits. Sunrise diner has been a breakfast classic in Croydon for as long as I can remember. Standing tall on Bristol Pike and serving up warm meals and even warmer memories. It is where our family has gathered over the generations. It still has a cozy, familiar vibe, even though it has undergone many facelifts over the decades. The staff is always friendly and always on point that has never changed but like many longtime favorites Sunrise has evolved, but not for the better. The prices have steadily crept up (my go to griddle melt went from 849 to 1199 in just six years). That's over a 40% increase. We totally get it. The cost of doing business has skyrocketed running a diner in today's world isn't easy (and we have even seen some of our longtime favorites close their doors forever) but when rising prices meet cutting corners, it starts to chip away the charm that made The Sunrise so special. We are still rooting for The Sunrise it's more than just a diner. It's a part of the community. While we can't stay regulars, we will pop in now and again, as we appreciate the role that it is played in our mornings. read more

Love the breakfast here! If you are ever in this area- this is a must! Every time I come in the food is on point. Came in with a party of 3 around 2pm. We're seated right away, restaurant was very clean and the waitress was on point with service. Ordered the French toast platter and it was so tasty! Just the way I like it. The eggs were good too and ordered has browns and they were nice and crispy, not greasy at all. My mom ordered the pot pie and it was huge!! She was raving about it. Normally, we LOVE this diner for the breakfast or brunch choices. I would say we also frequent here 2-3 times a month. This place is amazing..... EXCEPT for Last night when it was Too darn HOT and Humid to cook. During a past visit, another couple told us that The Yankee Pot roast made here was AWESOME and worthwhile to come on in for it. So, we came over for dinner last night and Boy, We had a RUDE awakening. My husbands fish n chips were STILL swimming (raw fish! ) and the Awesome chicken wings were STILL RAW !!!!! Whoa We were deeply disappointed and Very Upset! My husband is a chef of over 33 years but he is not a jerk and sometimes "Things" do Happen, but come On. I ordered the Texas Burger and it was fantastic. I loved the cheese, bacon, and barbecue sauce. It was a very mouthwatering burger if ever I tasted one. The dill pickle and French fries that came with it were not bad either. I also loved the raspberry iced tea. And I love how the waitresses went above and beyond the call of duty to help me get a train to Center City from Croydon Station. What a great find! Went for breakfast on a Saturday. Host greeted us with a friendly hello. It was crowded, but seated immediately. Comfy, cozy and very clean with lots of seating. Came in for breakfast and wasn't disappointed, we were sat down fairly quickly, our order was taken pretty fast without being rushed, it was packed too, the tables were clean as well as the seating booth, what we ordered came out at a decent time and was hot, the food was a good amount and taste either at par or above your usual diner food, the staff as well as the owner were friendly and welcoming, the only downside was the egg white omelet that we ordered was a little over done but it wasn't a deal breaker, we will definitely come back but next time it will be for dinner. read more

Food is okay but some of the staff are inpatient. Manager came over when we were to be placed at a corner booth and we requested to be moved. (My friend had trouble getting into that booth because of the tight corner. Manager tried to be somewhat okay about it but it was still rude and other customers could hear the conversation. He mentioned which I thought was rude that we sit too long to eat because his waitstaff were complaining about the turnover for tips. I tip well usually 20-25 % my friend tips to the penny of 15% because of that I always request a separate check which they don't have a problem with. Last night because of the holidays I tipped my waiter 56% and wished him a happy holiday and handed him $10.00. My friend tipped separately at her normal rate. I let the manager know that I tipped the 10.00 vs the 20% tip of 3.60 which i usually even to 5.00 and that I am not responsible for my friends tipping habits of her 15%choice of tipping to the penny and that I was more diligent on how long it took to eat at his restaurant and felt rushed and that we are always there less than an hour not the exaggerating time his waiter said. Hopefully, he saw that to approach a customer who is a regular or any customer for that matter is rude. He claims that we are there about 2 hours but that is an exaggeration on his waitstaffs part. Also, when you factor in that I tip to 20 to 25 percent and my friend does her 15% it balances out to what the waitstaff probably gets for the other tables. His waitstaff needs to redo their math in my opinion. That doesn't mean that the waitstaff should be rude and have the manager approach us because my friend can not fit in the booth wedged in a corner. In my opinion that was rude no matter how the manager or waitstaff wants to spin this. There are other diners and restaurants and they treat us well there. We usually go to them but when we are in the Croyden area we go to the Sunrise Diner restaurant which is the one that was rude to us. We will gladly go to another diner. We shouldn't feel rushed. read more

I love their food I almost always get an omelette and a side of corn beef hash which is absolutely delicious! My boyfriend loves their Reuben sandwich. We order takeout so while you wait for your food you'll have to stand up front near the doors in a small area, but they are usually pretty friendly. My choices were either Applebee's or Sunrise dinner, I typically always choose a new restaurant option and very glad that I found this diner. Roast Prime Rib - Absolutely delicious! Ample amounts of flavor were cooked into this Prime Rib. I fed my new cat a tiny piece the day after and after he ate it he looked up at me that he found the holy grail to life, it was truly a magical moment shared. French Onion Soup - Now this was the one star deduction, I chose the snapper soup as you can add any soup for only $1.99 and French Onion came instead (Assuming they were out of the Snapper but no phone call ahead to let me know). It was not bad by any means, a bit salty but that's how it goes with French Onion. Wisconsin Cheese Fries - A ton of fries with gooey cheese, bacon bits, and above average fries. I don't even recall tasting them the day they were ordered but if I snag another fry from a future order I will be sure to update review. Pork Pot Stickers - Girlfriend ordered the pot stickers and said they were very good. Now these are lightly fried and I only order steamed but if your a fan of pot stickers and don't mind lightly fried I suggest you give it a try. Crock of Idaho Potato Soup - Perfectly layered pieces of bacon over a cheesy potato based broth with scattered chunks of potato goodness assorted throughout. This is a good little Diner in Croydon!! Been around for years, train station not far up the street. When in the parking lot you can see the train flying by doing over 200 mph. When you get to the inside can hear the train. Kinda cool. This place is well done from the inside out when it comes to it being remodeled. I was greeted by a very nice waitress, as soon as arriving. Welcomed with a mug and pot of coffee, and coffee creamer. With a all brand new menu, with alot to choose from. I went right to the back of the menu where all their breakfast specials are, and there are many to choose from, and the prices are great!! I wound up getting the pancakes fruit combo, which was okay. But i think they over did it with the whipped cream, and the bananas and strawberrys didn't look fresh as I was expecting. I used to live in Bristol when i first moved to the USA and this place was always a treat. i have so many good memories here. when you walk in you get seated quite quickly and the service is always very good. The food is always great quality and i'm never disappointed. it comes out quickly and is very fair priced. this places has the best iced coffee around in my opinion, i always get one when i stop by in the summer. I ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and holy cow it was so flavorful and tender definitely will be getting again! My husband got the Texas Meatloaf, he is super picky about meatloaf and he ate the entire thing super yummy!!! My mother in law got the pork chops with mashed and they smelled and looked delicious!
