Food was good. Meatloaf a little dry. Soup was delicious. The Menon coconut cake was perfect. My server Aiden was excellent. Nice clean diner with spacious seating. Ambiance is friendly and not hurrying you out. Great place!

    Cheese steak or chopped meat?

I'm a regular here and dine in 2-3 times month. Tonight I ordered takeout and was very disappointed. The meat didn't appear to be steak at all but chop meat. While it was tasty, it appears they placed the open bread in the takeout box and threw the meat mixture on top, No sandwich at all. I've had chopped steak many times, but this wasn't it. On top of this, they threw in soggy soft greasy fries. By the the time I got it home, it was a mess. Very Very disappointing.

We had a very good experience when we visited for breakfast. The diner is impeccably clean and appointed with all the typical decor you would expect. There is a beauty of a dessert case as you enter across from the door, interested in coming back on a future visit for something sweet! Speaking of sweet, our server was super friendly and welcoming. Interestingly the egg based combos come with 3 eggs - most diners come only with two. And the prices are all reasonable. Service was fast, the only significant opportunity was that all of the food was almost unseasoned and bland... nothing that some self added alt and pepper. Plant fix though. Perhaps they err on the side of caution given the more eh... elderly clientele? I'd for sure recommend this place. Give it a try!

Is this the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to?…read more Actually, yes, it is. And I have been to a lot of Italian restaurants. The wait for a table was 45 minutes, but it was worth every minute. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was wonderful. We ended up being seated in a back patio room and though it was very hot outside (one of those 100 degree days last summer), it was actually very nice in there. The show started with someone asking for our drink order, then coming back with said drinks. After that she brought out some starts on the house, courtesy of chef and owner Joe. We were off to a great start! Soon after she returned to get our dinner order. After that, Chef Joe himself showed up to our table to thank us for visiting his restaurant and ask how we liked things so far. We let him know those starters were perfect...eggplant balls and a corn/tomato salad. Eventually our dinner came. Both dishes were waaaaaaaay more food than either of us expected. I had ordered chicken with mozzarella squares on top and drizzled in balsamic, which was a special created by Chef Joe's wife, according to the menu. My partner got eggplant parm...and wow, what a pile of food it was. Two huge eggplant pieces piled high with delicious sauce and served with some delectable pasta. Chef Joe came back to the dining room awhile later to ask people how their entrees were, and we let him know this was a great experience. I want to go back to Point Pleasant just to get here again. This time I will make a reservation.

The night started with Joe Spano, the owner, stopping at our table to bring several little dishes before we even had a chance to look at the menu. The meatballs (made with actually no meat but rather eggplant) were pure sorcery...like so good there aren't words. He noticed our wine bottle (it's BYOB so come prepared!), and by pure coincidence, it was his favorite bottle. Joe asked to show another costumer because they had been discussing wines earlier, and he wanted to make sure they got to see the label. If that wasn't personal enough, the walls are adorned with black and white framed photographs of family from back in the day to the present. The environment is clean, well-maintained, and cozy. Every bite we had was exceptional and the portions were huge! We left contently full but with plenty of leftovers. I'm quite sure every meal will exceed the expectations of even the pickiest of eaters. Our server, Brian (or Bryan) was new but attentive and informative. He spent time talking with his tables and being personable while also making sure everyone was taking care of. Overall, I highly recommend experiencing a meal at Spano's at least once....but after your first bite, you'll likely be making your next reservation before you leave (like we saw many people do)!

When we arrived on a Thursday evening at 6:30pm, the restaurant was almost empty, though it filled up quickly during our meal. The service was fine, nothing particularly memorable but attentive enough. The restaurant spans two floors, with the top floor being brighter and more spacious, creating a nice atmosphere. I especially liked the chandeliers, which added a touch of elegance to the space. In summary, the food was excellent but served in small portions. The complimentary bread was so good that we ordered more, though there was an extra charge. We started with the raw plates, and the oysters were a standout favorite. The snow crab claws were nice but a bit underwhelming, especially given the price. The pasta dishes were all delicious. Since we were sharing among five people, we got a taste of each, since the portions were on the smaller side. We tried all four pastas, with the caviar pasta and rock shrimp pasta standing out as highlights. The homemade pasta was perfectly cooked. The olive-crusted branzino was well done; I was initially worried the olive crust might be overpowering since I'm not a fan of olives, but it was balanced and didn't overwhelm the dish. The lobster/mussels dish and duck were fine but not remarkable. Hanger steak was unavailable at the time. We had a great time, though it was on the pricier side, especially since we also ordered a few bottles of wine.

Standout dish was the Chilean Sea Bass risotto. Everybody at the table loved it. It's not on the regular menu and thankfully they had 1 sea bass left and I order it right away. We also ordered the 50oz porterhouse steak which came with 2 sides but the steak wasn't as tender as I would like it to be and it was barely seasoned. I was quite disappointed. Unfortunately that dish was $175! Another disappointment was one of their specials, I think a beef brisket risotto. The beef was a huge chunk of meat, but it was not tender and it was so hard to even cut. The risotto also had a strange metallic flavor to it. We ended up not eating it. The staff was nice enough to remove the dish from our bill so we really appreciated that. Caesar salad and fried calamari were good and all the other sides like the truffle mac and cheese and creamed spinach were good as well. Overall, nice ambiance and attentive staff, but some dishes are hit or miss. I would definitely come back just for the Chilean Sea Bass risotto!

For dessert either get the Italian cheesecake or bread pudding with a cappuccino. The servers and staff are incredible. We were seated right away but then ended up waiting forever to have a server bring water / take our drink order. We actually had to go ask if a server would be coming to which they said they'd send our server over shortly (it was a long time until she came). We ordered two cocktails from the menu along with a dozen oysters when the server did come but again, we had to wait forever (we watched people come in after us, order after us and get their drinks/ food before us).
