My husband and I really liked our food. I had the classic Benedict with home fries and he had cheesy grits with bacon and eggs. We were super impressed and paired with the fast and friendly service, we were already having a four star experience... THEN I tried a bite of the blueberry pancakes. I do not exaggerate when I say these are the blueberry pancakes I've ever had. Imagine the lightest, fluffiest, tastiest pancake with a delicious, flavorful blueberry in it and the richness of a scone with some of the flavor and texture of a very good corn bread. I'm not sure what's going on with those pancakes but they are so good! I was a little nervous at first bc my mom's side of the family in from NH/MA so i always notice when there's real maple syrup in the typical glass pourers around. The pancakes came out with two packages of I think smuckers "breakfast syrup" which is often lingo for flavored corn syrup with other stuff. This was our first time visiting this establishment and we found the experience to be quite delightful. The wait was minimal and the space is quaint. It doesn't feel overly crowded and it has an overall cozy vibe. A great selection on the menu; even though we went at breakfast time the lunch menu was also available. I had the chicken salad on toast off the specials board and I opted for fries instead of chips and cole slaw. The fries are shoe string and were cooked just right. The chicken salad was slightly dry but still had plenty of flavor. I opted for wheat toast. Great coffee. My husband and I just started ordering from Violetwood Cafe about a year ago. We wanted to start ordering and trying new foods that were locally owned. LET ME TELL YOUUUUUU- this cafe is our breakfast GO TO. We even decided to have a late breakfast/early lunch at Violetwood for our 18 anniversary day brunch. We had a ton of errands to do for our house that is getting renovated and decided to stop at Violetwood ( which was also our first time sitting and eating; we typically order to go because who wants to get out of their jams on a Sunday morning). We also decided to get lunch instead of our normal breakfast. OH MY LANTA- we started off with their soup of day... heavenly, so delicious. Was full before my BLC ( a BLT but without tomato's and add cheese ) came out and that BLC was one of the best Sammie's I ever had. ( I know, I know... it's a simple Sammie but not everyone makes a good Sammie and just because it only has bacon, lettuce, cheese and mayo... on a toasty toast doesn't mean everyone can make a good BLC!!!) My husband ordered a wrap, truly forgot what kind but he said his wrap was delicious. Everything we have ever ordered from this restaurant has been TOP NOTCH, delightful, delicious, and cooked/made beautifully! I HIGHLY recommend getting the pancakes with walnuts and bananas ( or is pecans .. I forget but it's some kind of nut and bananas.. and that was my very first meal at VWC and the best meal- I still think about it often I just can't eat that once a week but besides the soup & I love me some soups especially creamy chowders/soups- those walnut/pecan, banana pancakes are to die for. My husband gets the French toast version & I do the pancakes. I also get their breakfast Sammie's often, I have ordered their breakfast Sammie's more than anything. I get an Egg white and cheese on an English muffin with butter. Yummy. Yumm. Yummmm in my TUMMMMMY. Anyways- HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place, worth the price and the prices are cheap and very reasonable especially in today's economy with everything being so expensive. If you're thinking about checking this cafe out- GO FOR IT. It's our family favorite and we use to order and dine at the diner at five points ( Golden Dawn? My husband and I came here for breakfast and we're glad we did! The hostess/server was very friendly, very attentive and quick! My porkroll has was pretty good, I would've liked a bit more seasoning on it, but overall it was tasty! My husband got the steak and eggs, his steak was medium well just like he asked. The steak was tender and juicy right along with the eggs and potatoes. This place is reasonably priced, doesn't need all the bells and whistles, just down right good food! Ok just got done an out patient procedure and have been fasting for 15 hours. Heard about this place from a friend and decided to try it. We walked in and greeted by a very nice host, drinks came right away and given a paper menu that does not have a ton of choices which i like. Our waitress was super nice and the place is very clean with a nice working AC system. My GF got the special of Avocado and tomato eggs Benedict. I got the combo French toast, 2 eggs with bacon and sausage. Breakfast came very quick. The eggs Benedict special had so much flavor and done perfectly. The Hollandaise sauce was just a little on the thin side but just a little. The hash browns were done nicely but needed a little seasoning. My breakfast combo was great, the French toast had a great cinnamon flavor. Eggs were great. However the star of the show was the sausage. I've had sausage countless places but this sausage tasted like it came right from the farm. I had two sides of eat. Listen folks this place is in a strip mall and I consider it a hidden gem. It's clean, the staff is excellent the food was perfect I don't give out 5 stars usually but the sausage made the 5th star. Total bill with coffee $29.50. Can't beat it. Came here due to the rave reviews and bc the hubby was craving some steak & eggs. As we arrived to this desolate side of Levittown, full of small strip plazas, I felt like I was really going to love it here. It was 11 am on a Monday and they barely had any customers there, yet there service was so SLOW. We got menus and then sat and waited, and waited and waited. Finally a nice older lady took our order of a steak & eggs for the hubby and a special of the day - chilli omlette. Let's start with the bleak, the chilli omlette was a big mistake. It came out and just by the wierd yellow color it looked like big mistake. I was hoping for the best, as I don't send food back that I hate, so I would be down $8 and still hungry......but it wasn't. The omlette was more of a dry taco omlette, that was simply stuffed with ground beef, cheese and overly seasonsed eggs. I made a mixture of ketchup and hotsauce to try to salvage it with no success. The hashbrowns were these oily potatoes with no flavor to them. Let's just say thank God for the toasted rye bread! The hubby had to send his bloody steak back to cook just a bit longer, as he wanted it medium. They brought it back with 2 fresh eggs, which he was very thankful for....and the only reason I'm giving this place one additional star. He wasn't a fan of the steak at all. We sat and waited and waited for our bill, and nothing so we finally just got up ourselves and asked for it at the register. Won't be back. It's a shame as the place is cute and reasonable with some great dishes. Unfortunately though after sending back a plate of runny and crunchy grits I was charged a $2 tasting fee (apparently they "can't let the customers just taste all the dishes"). Although I ordered a replacement meal and paid the full price for it. But to charge me $2 for taking two bites of improperly cooked grits wasn't enough, I was also told that "they cooked the grits right" - so I'm wrong. When I responded "this is how you lose customers" I was told "that's OK". Apparently they don't care. read more

This place is a little hidden gem in Levittown. It's run by a father and son and you just sort of get this warm feel being there. I went on a Thursday morning and was seated right away. The service was good and our coffees and waters were kept full. I ordered a breakfast bagel with egg, cheese, and Canadian bacon along with a side of hash browns that I got with fried onions, tomatoes and cheese. I realize the hash browns are only done this way at Waffle House but they accommodated, although quite frankly putting anything on them was really not necessary. They use some sort of potato shredder and they are crispy and delicious- hands down the best I've ever had. My breakfast sandwich came on a fresh everything bagel, with a perfectly cooked fried egg on top and also was quite tasty. I'm so glad we found this place, and look forward to returning. read more

Restaurant.com found us this little place and we tried it out one weekend. The small interior offers bar seating and tables. The food was merely average. The staff while friendly were overwhelmed - the cook in the back slamming the bell repeatedly indicating to the entire place he/she was annoyed. Fried eggs served with yolks broken and haphazardly slopped on the plate. Grilled cheese made with processed singles and sodas served in the can. Were edible but disappointing. Worth it with the discount but not worthy of full price. A new place to check out but most likely will not return. read more

I rarely get to this part of Levittown, but I had a date with Levittown Printing just down Haines Road and decided to look for a breakfast place where I could hang out until they opened. Yelp led me to Violetwood Café, yet another of those quiet gardens hidden from plain sight in a strip commercial center that has seen far better days. The café is brightly painted and staffed by a cadre of black T- shirted servers who have a very positive attitude about their restaurant and seem to enjoy their jobs. I sat down in a booth toward the back and had a mug of coffee in front of me within a minute. It was fine. The menu had both the popular usual suspects for breakfast, plus a few permanent house specials as well as a daily black board. My Sausage Scramble (I think that was it) was a large mountain of Egg, Italian Sweet Sausage, Onion, Peppers, topped with Provolone. It was moist, and chunky and fun to eat. The Rye Toast was a real loaf complete with Caraway Seeds. Violetwood Café is a 4 Star performer, and could easily move up. read more

Our usual breakfast spot was closed for Labor Day so we tried the Violetwood Cafe because they were open (they did close early for the holiday but breakfast was open). I ordered Egg and Cheese on a Roll. They were out of rolls so it was substituted for a sub roll. While not bad, not exactly what I wanted. Coffee was good and standard. Surprisingly they had hash browns, my fiance complains that restaurants up north don't have proper breakfast potatoes. These were long shoestring hash browns, done right. I heard they mentioned to another table they were out of something else. So it might just have been the holiday, but it was a let down Would go to again when our usual place is closed. read more

Three stars didn't mean anything was bad it just wasn't anything to write home about. The atmosphere is nice, the place is clean and the service was great. The food was good but not memorable. Cafe salad had 1 small oortabella mushroom sautéed and added to the top of a bed of romaine, sliced cheese and some anemic romaine but it tasted okay. Mondays must be the day before bread orders come in because they had no white bread nor wraps. Maryland crab soup was not good, tasted like vegetable soup from a can with cheasapeake bay seasoning and crab broth. Everyone at our table thought their food was good but nothing memorable or cravable. Many regulars eat here and enjoy their breakfast options. Food is okay I had eggs with homefries and sausage. I was VERY DISAPOINTED when I got my meal it looked as though someone had eaten all the potatoes! Their portion sizes are ridiculously small! I really should have taken a picture but I was able to eat the potatoes in two bites! I did not like the sausage either. Also forgot one of my eggs. We made our first visit here earlier this week - for a late breakfast. Violetwood Cafe is a wonderful local "mom and pop" joint in a strip of shops. The pale purple walls and neat decor, comprised of vintage photos and other art, created a restful ambiance for dining. The menu included standard breakfasts as well as a few creative twists, such as a chipotle / marinated flank steak and egg sandwich (which I ordered). The eggs were perfect. My husband ordered steak and eggs (see our photo), which arrived medium rare - just as ordered. Our server was friendly and attentive. The prices were extremely reasonable (the steak and eggs was priced at $8 and change). Food definitely 4 stars plus. Overall experience with local warmth, service, and value factored in - 5 stars.
