Cheddar bacon spinach omelet special with fruit

Perched on the corner of Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Avenues sits the Birds Nest. A small neighborhood dinette with a bonus bar in the back. The dining area was quiet, small and homey with a relaxing feel. Friends was playing on the TV creating a nostalgic vibe. Amber kept our cups full and was welcoming and friendly. The sound of the morning train complemented the atmosphere perfectly. We were happy with our meals and they were priced reasonably. An all around enjoyable breakfast experience leaving us wanting to come back another day and check out the lunch menu.

Firstly why am I being charged a $1.00 pick up fee for ordering on the phone! Secondly, the entrance in the back is a little spooky and unlit. I wanted hash brown potatoes and they were shredded potatoes. The cheese omelette was okay but my toast was drenched in butter. I ordered a side of bacon which was way over cooked. Definitely not worth $18 for breakfast.

Home cooked meal quality level cooking here. Nice quiet ambiance. Lovely server. Will be returning!

Great to find a new 3 squares a day restaurant on Philadelphia Avenue down in south Morrisville, PA. Birds Nest occupies the space of an old tavern, and if memory serves, a late night pole dance palace. The bar remains in back and the dining room has about a dozen tables. I sat at a foursome overlooking Pennsy Ave. where serious roadwork was blocking the street to the east, but managed to find the primo parking spot right alongside the building about twenty feet from the front door. If knotty pine paneling is your jam, be sure to ask for extra toast. The room was a time machine back to about 1960, but comfy and chill. The breakfast menu offered decent variety, but not diner-esque. Given the choices, I opted for standard french toast and coffee. There were other possibilities with berries, but I wanted to be sure the main element was good enough to warrant the extra flourish. Service was fine from Amber, and she was a reliable pro, handling the filling room by herself. She was on top of her craft, keeping my coffee cup full without being asked. The frenchie was pretty good. Thicker bread was used, which was not completely saturated with the egg/cinnamon/sugar/vanilla slurry, but had enough to make it tasty. Syrup was served in a small table rocket, which while nicer than those tiny industrial throw always, was still not Class B (dark) maple, my favorite. Birds Nest is as much about small town atmosphere as the grub, so come prepared to hang out a while and enjoy the local color. This day, the table next door had three older dudes discussing the Civil War. One of them was quite knowledgeable and I found myself eavesdropping. Prices are reasonable. NewsMax was on the jumbo, but nobody seemed to be paying attention. Draw your own conclusions.

The food was average. Eggs were slightly under cooked as I ordered over easy and the whites were still runny. Home fries needed some more time on the grill. Service was ok. Waitress asked a couple of times if I needed more coffee or anything else. The Atmosphere is not so good. Tables don't match, poker video games in dining area, supplies just placed all over on top of things. It's just a mess.

Service was pretty basic. I don't know that it was bad but it certainly wasn't extraordinary. My Mom and Aunt both got salads. I got a hot dog plate and a side salad. My Aunt enjoyed her large house salad. My Mom really didn't like her Greek salad. I ended up eating most of it. They were VERY generous with the feta. Maybe too generous. I thought it was fine. I enjoyed my side salad. The hot dog was interesting. As described on the menu, it is two hot dogs, cut in half lengthwise, then griddled, then put on a hoagie roll. It was unusual. Not bad, just different. The hoagie roll was a bit chewier than a standard hot dog bun. The sauerkraut was good. I had asked for mustard too and they brough it on the side. Overall, an OK experience. I don't know that we'll be back if we are in the area again.

It had been more than a year since my last visit to Marty's Place. Time flies!…read more I was driving by this morning after court, having skipped breakfast at home in order to get a jump on traffic going into the city. I saw a new sign out front on a Bud Light white board that breakfast was now being served 7 days a week! Hot diggity! I parked out back and walked in to a mostly empty bar (2 customers who looked like they were regulars). The bartender approached and we engaged about their breakfast menu. It was pretty wide open if my desires had anything to do with eggs. They did. I opted for a sausage, egg and cheese on Kaiser roll, and mug of java. While it was being created in the kitchen I watched a show about exotic car auctions. A Borgati opening at a cool million bucks was an eye opener. Another black transport used by John Lennon around London was also put up and sold. Pretty cool entertainment. The sandwich was great! Double patty, fried egg, American cheese and a fresh, quality roll, made for a tasty and fun meal. The side of homefries was likewise excellent - hot, crisp and spicy with sautéed onions in the mix. Coffee, strong and kicking. The only shortcomings were the lack of a joe refill offering, and lack of utensils. Luckily, I had a spoon from the coffee, which was fine as a shovel. Afterall, Marty's is still a wonderful corner dive. It was made for comfort, not for speed, nor etiquette.

He brings out 2 plates and its Allready split for us! And we Both got an order of toast! The omelette was delicious I just Didn't care for the tiny cubed potatoes bcz they were too well done like deep fried! Afterwards he bought us tiny little samples of homemade poundcake like pineapple upside down cake, caramel, and even a strawberry cheesecake flavor! Bill Really impressed me with his sharing of how he makes his stuffed cabbage since I'm Hungarian and told him how I make mine! I've been in the restaurant business for 40 years ( Retired on my bday 3/13/20 at the start of Covid ) but I have NEVER tipped a cook until today! All of the appetizers were great, and can be spilt with friends: -Quesadillas -Calamari -Nachos -Plantain w| Cheese The plantain with melted cheese was such a treat, glad we tried it. If you're looking for the perfect savory, sweet, and non-sweet balanced combination of flavor this is the one! The nachos were tasty, just your traditional melted cheese, ground beef, salsa, sour cream, and guac. The quesadilla's were soft and grilled well (not hard or over cooked). The calamari is not the original smaller squid like pieces with tentacles still attached, it's more so chopped into rings and served with a red sauce. Not sure if they have garlic aioli mayo or not, ask your server. The inside is a vibe, with one side being a full restaurant, and the other side being a smaller room with a full bar, tables, and DJ Booth set up. It's a great place to meet up for dinner with friends! There's music playing inside but not so loud that you can't have a conversation which is great. There is a free parking lot in the back of the building. The menu's are on ipad's which we loved! Enjoy!!
