Chorizo hash breakfast platter
Rebecca A.

We found this place on Yelp and decided to try it as we were passing through Newtown. It was cute and charming, and we got a seat on the covered porch right away. I got the Apple and sausage omelette. It was really great even tho it sounds unusual! My fiancée got the chorizo hash breakfast which was basically a deconstructed huevos rancheros. He really liked it. But the real MVP of the meal was the little cup of home made mixed berry jam served with each plate. It was so good, and I didn't see it mentioned on a single review I looked at. Definitely worth a stop at Pats if you are in Newtown.

Outside

Did some research before traveling to Newtown for a conference. Pat's just looked homey and the pics of the food looked good. I decided to get up at the normal time so I could get a good breakfast. OMGOODNESS! Mike and Lauren made me feel right at home. Great service and fantastic people. I just had to try the weird sounding omelet... apples, cheese and sausage. The flavor combination was perfect... who would have thunk it. I also wanted to try 1 peanut pancake... I like comparing pancakes at places. It was the most beautiful pancake I have seen and there were WHOLE pecans in it. The strawberries and bananas set it off. I think everyone needs to try Pat's. My compliments to Frankie, the chef.

The Special French Toast

This is a local breakfast joint that has been around forever and for good reason. The food is great and reasonably priced. The service matches the food. On my most recent visit, I had the Special French Toast with strawberries, blueberries and sliced banana. All fresh. Not compotes. No preservatives. (See photo.) It was fabulous. My son got Eggs Benedict. Also terrific. When we first moved to town decades ago, it was in a tight space - which made for uncomfortable dining and caused long waits. But a few years ago it expanded into an adjacent space. It's easier to get a table and you're not sitting so close to others. I go on a more regular basis and I'm never disappointed. Great coffee, too!

Local breakfast place with good food and service. It's small, but comfortable.

Exactly what you expect from a mom & pop breakfast spot. The food is reliable and easy. The historic building is charming.

Service was very slow and they forgot things we ordered. They forgot a side and to put a condiment on an order.

Great chicken salad sandwich. Quick service. Reasonable prices. Would definitely return. Extra charge for eggs as other places do.

Mamie Colette is an incredible bakery. I haven't taken photos during my visits because I eat the…read morepastries too fast! The Pain au Chocolate & croissants are outstanding! As close to the ones you'll have in France as you can find in the states. The sourdough bread is also very good. It's a must when you're in the mood for a pastry!

I visited Mamie Colette right as they unlocked the doors at 6:30AM on a Wednesday (the door said…read moreclosed Mondays and Tuesdays) and was greeted with the wonderful aroma of baked goods and bright smiles from the staff. I asked what I was in for and was immediately schooled on all of the offerings by the owner..... she described every item with great detail, pride and passion. I ended up buying some items for my wife's work and something for myself. The prices seemed high, but believe me you're getting what you pay for. I ended up with two Croissants - Buttery, flaky French-style croissant, one Pain au Chocolat - Our classic croissant filled with two bittersweet chocolate batons, one Nutella croissant - Our classic croissant filled with delicious Nutella chocolate hazelnut spread, one Fruit Jam croissant - our classic croissant filled with delicious fruit jam and a Almond Chocolate croissant - Our classic almond croissant filled with two bittersweet chocolate batons. For myself, I took another customers advice and went with a savory Ham and cheese croissant - our classic croissant filled with bechamel (creamy white sauce), ham and cheese. The shiny sheen of buttery baked goodness was the first thing you'll notice before you taste that flaky brown crust. Every bite was a clean crisp break and boy did all the flavors of ham and cheese combine to make a fantastic breakfast. My bill was $40 combined for all seven items. (I believe the ham and cheese croissant itself was about $6 and change) The croissants my wife brought to work were a hit. One of the her co-workers lived in France for several years and was complaining she couldn't find a comparable croissant on this side of the pond. She was beyond impressed and commented they are better than most she remembered. Mission accomplished, she'll be paying her first visit and I'll be returning to try some sweet options next time! Small location, but a mighty and beautiful product made with love at Mamie Colette!
