I typically don't bother to write negative reviews, but my sorry experience at the Radcliffe Cafe was a necessary exception. As soon as we sat down we noticed corn syrup "maple syrup" and "Great Value" condiments, which we were willing to ignore because of the overall great reviews we'd read. Initially the service was great, they took our order promptly. However in the time it took to receive our food we witnessed two employees arguing loudly, one server chatting incessantly while the restaurant was slammed and our server vaping on multiple occasions near the coffee pots behind another customer's table. After waiting a while, we received our food and it was mediocre at best with very poor quality ingredients. My omelette was basic and unseasoned, while my home fries were extremely salty and seemed to be from a can. The toast itself was fine, but was slathered in vegetable spread (not butter). My fiancee wanted to order something simple, going for chocolate chip pancakes and pork roll. The pancakes were serviceable, but she disappointingly received bacon rather than the pork roll. Finally, our check out service was nonexistent. It's cash only, as other's mentioned, but once we flagged down an employee she let us know the ATM wasn't working. In conclusion, the Radcliffe Cafe was a pathetic dining experience. The only the reason to come here (if you didn't have the palate of a 90 year old) would be if you loved poor service, abysmal food and a filthy atmosphere. read more

We had the Turkey BLT. It was very good and loaded with turkey--so much that I actually removed about half of it. It came with a choice of fries or soup, and I chose the fries. I ordered them extra crispy, but they were mushy on the inside and lacked flavor. The sandwich also came with a nice slice of Jewish pickle, which was delicious. Service was good. read more

Good solid breakfast spot. Found parking on their side lot and entered into a simple neighborhood dining room. I sat at their long bar and took in the old school small town diner feel. The staff was friendly and prompt. They kept the coffee coming and made you feel at home. Cash only, but they have an ATM on site. I had their two egg special - eggs scrambled with sausage links, home fries and rye toast for $6-$7 ..... with coffee, around $10-$11. The home fries were ok, but the eggs and sausage hit the spot. Their coffee was a tasty roasted blend that needed nothing added. Their lunch menu looks like it has some great choices with all different styles of - steak sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches and salads. As for the food, you get mostly classic breakfast foods like pancakes, sandwiches and the crispy home fries. It is nothing flashy but it is delicious. The coffee is good and they are constantly filling your cup. I also appreciate that they have reasonable prices in this crazy economy. The only downside is that the place is small, so be prepared to wait on the weekend a little bit. We have never waited more than 15 minutes because this part of town is not too busy. Finally made it here! Shame we waited so long! I totally see why there's usually a wait! Simple local spot with some very good food! Chatted it up with the regulars while waiting. Steve the owner introduced himself to us and assured us it wouldn't be long. We watched him pouring coffee and talking to his customers. I took a moment to notice that things seemed to be running smoothly, customers were happy, workers were hustling and the food all looked great! Steve gave us a choice to sit in the "I95 corridor" spot..we jumped on it and chuckled over the nickname! There were a lot of choices on the menu and that is always a good sign! My husband got the chicken fried steak with gravy. He's never had it before and loved it. Those home fries were excellent too! I loved my short stack of French Toast. Thick and fluffy! The side of bacon was generous and perfectly crisp. (Katie?) was our server and we hit it right off with her. She made sure we didn't need anything and in the tradition with keeping things moving, dropped our check right off. We can usually be in and out of there in 30 minutes if we want to or we can take our time. This is one of those great little local joints. Very good, attentive service as one would expect when the owner (Vince) is always on location. This place is awful. Come on Bristol, don't you know what good, quality food is? Potatoes from a can, lard is used as butter, Walmart brand hot sauce...I could go on and on. It's very unfortunate my first time in this town, I tried to grab a bite from a place with food reviews and couldn't get past the phone conversation. I called in a to go order, was put on hold for several moments... that part was fine. I forgot a item so I called back to amend. I was placed on hold for 6 minutes and then hung up on. I called back, placed on hold again... I tried to ask the employee to simply add a side of bacon to my order. She cut me off and yelled for someone else to help me. I eventually hung up. My friend went to pick up the order, got back to the house... the grits were SUPER runny and the scrambled eggs with cheese turned out to be a rectangular shape with 2 un melted slices of cheese on top. IDK which is worst... the customer service or the food. The prices are dirt cheap. Guess you get what you pay for. I'm a Southern Gal, I can hardly believe they think these instant grits are something to witte home about. SHAME ON YOU! read more
