It is truly a sad moment and sad news Cheese Dawgs is (soon, at least temporarily, it will be "was") a great place to grab a hot dog in Feasterville, Pennsylvania. They had a great selection of hot dogs and the staff was always incredibly friendly. I hope that they can reopen in another location. We need these old-school hot dog joints. Eh. Was really looking forward to a hot dog joint other than Five Guys in the area. Most of the dogs were good. Could have used more of a good hard fry in my opinion. The onions weren't really sautéed as much as I like either. The beans and mac were unfortunately some of the most flavorless sides I've had in a long time. The beans almost had a sour taste. If you are used to Bush's Baked Beans these aren't it for you. Tenders were ok and thank goodness the tots were right. I'll have to start by saying I've never been a fan of Naked Brewing, but Cheese Dawgs on the other hand is a great hot dog joint. They picked a perfect spot in Bristol Borough that they seemed to have partnered with Naked Brewing on. If you have kids the downstairs area is ok, but with live music I had to take my son upstairs to preserve our hearing! We found parking in the large municipal lot behind the building. Upstairs we found cozier seating at a high top table with service. Downstairs I believe you have to walk up to the bar or just sit at the bar for service. I also don't believe the full beer menu is available downstairs. The menu is full of tempting toppings and styles with your choice of regular/footlong dogs, hot sausage or kielbasa. I had a hot sausage with pepper hash and coleslaw. It had a snappy skin, decent heat and was delicious when paired with the sweet coleslaw and pepper hash. My friend ordered frank and tots and reported it to be delicious and filling. My son had a regular dog and we all shared a big pretzel with beer cheese. I had an IPA named Thank Frank that was about average for a West Coast style IPA and my pal had a couple of their darker offerings that he wasn't impressed with. Our server was nice and gave a great recommendation to add the pepper hash. She wasn't the fastest at coming to check on our beers so we bailed. I had one and she never asked if I wanted another and never refilled our waters. Prices weren't too bad. I would definitely return for some more of the interesting creations on the dawg menu, but the brews are really nothing special. I looked on Yelp for the best place to get a hotdog near my location, and CheeseDawgs came up with a map. I got into a car and drove two miles to the quaint town of Bristol, Pa. Bristol is on the waterfront of the Delaware River, which is attractive; this town has so much history, and the homes go way back in time that line the river. I walked up and down Mill Street looking for the Dawgs joint but never saw a sign. I almost gave up when I saw a place with menus outside on the table. I looked and was in front of a brewery called Naked Brewing. I went inside and saw T-shirts hanging with the word "Cheese Dawgs." Happy, I finally found it and was impressed with the whole feel of the place; it was inviting, and across the room was a small bar with chairs to sit and have a drink or eat. They have about five tables around a small stage with a live band playing songs I knew. I walked to the bar, sat, and looked over their menu, which was quite extensive. I ordered my favorite, a White Russian, and this is what I understood when they said they could not make one: they brew their own beer and make their own wine and only serve alcohol made in the Keystone State, so that's why the bartender did not have Kahlua and the state of Pennsylvania runs the show.? The brewery is located on the lower floor down the stairs. The Dawgs are on the first floor of the building. They Merge the two businesses or become partners, and that's why the name has changed on the outside. The sign does not include Dawgs; inside, their name is not all over the big room. I had fun here; the drink I got was a " Long Island Ice Tea," just one of them, and it was good. The staff, primarily women tending bar, were great fun and knowledgeable about openings and closings of this establishment and, of course, the menu. No kids after the sun goes down. Doesn't even deserve 1 star - 12:45 pm, not busy, we sat at a table by window. Waited almost 20 minutes to even be acknowledged by our server (and only after calling loudly for her as she began taking the order of folks who walked in after us) - it took quite a long time for two hot dogs - Texas Tommy and hot dog w/sauerkraut. Finished up, asked for bill and waited 14 minutes before asking for mgr. (our server decided to clean up tables, serve beverages to several customers and still not bring the bill. We could have walked out without paying and she would not even have noticed. Manager was obnoxious, could have cared less about our concern about poor service (maybe related to server?). I was craving hot dogs today after my son's game, so we decided to check out Cheese Dawgs. Mystery man happened to come across them on a list of the best hot dogs. So of course had to check it out. At first glance it looks sort of a hole in the wall-ish, but that's usually when you know it's going to be good food. There are a couple tables inside, each with about 3 chairs. There are 3 large coolers with a wide assortment of drinks. I had gotten 2 hot dogs for myself and a baked beans on the side. I went with the Dallas chili & cheese & a NY with spicy mustard for my picks, just regular size. All was delicious. I'm not typically into hot dogs esp if they're not Sahlens with Webbers mustard. But these I'll make the exception for this place. The mystery kids got a Mac n cheese and plain hot dog and bacon on side. They loved everything. Ate it all up. That's a big deal! Mystery man enjoyed just as well. The price was so cheap too. I couldn't believe it. We are definitely fans so will be certainly coming back again. The staff was super friendly, it was not a long wait to get our order and within minutes we were sitting riverfront with our sandwiches. We stopped in after spending the afternoon at Parx Casino. I was a little skeptical based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews (it's just hot dogs right)? But holy crap, this place is awesome. I got the Jersey which was a well grilled foot long hot dog with crispy bacon, American cheese, cole slaw and onions on a fresh roll. Absolutely delicious and a nice twist on the usual hot dog in a bun you'd get at a random fast food joint. Saw this place online and knew I had to come try it. I was honestly a bit skeptical about how good it would be, but the food quickly had me convinced. The decor and feel is classic philly, down to the eagles posters and pictures on the wall of all the people that have finished their massive hot dog challenge. Their menu is full of hot dog specials with all sorts of toppings, some grilled cheese specials, and their grilled poundcake or grilled donut ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Came where with my brother and a cousin, and between the three of us split a Jersey, Nightwalk, and a foot long Pleasant Pig. Each hot dog came out grilled to perfection, sliced down the middle and perfectly crisp outside. The nightwalk (chili, pepper hash, Fritos) had just the right ratio of toppings without spilling off the ends. The pleasant pig (pulled pork, cheese, jalapeños) was packed with meat and such a good deal at only $6. The jersey was my favorite, topped with a perfectly crisped slice of bacon and a good ratio of onions, slaw, and cheese. Everything was grilled perfectly, and at $3-4 for a regular size and $5-6 for a footlong, very affordable. The food was so good we got a footlong West Virginia (chili and coleslaw), which was just as good as the others. At $3, we had to try one of their desserts so we decided on the grilled donut sandwich; they cut a glazed donut in half, grill the sides perfectly, and sandwich it around a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. It's not fancy, but the donut is warm and crisped just right, and tastes amazing with the cool ice cream. Don't let the very unassuming location fool you, Cheese Dawgs pumps out some extremely tasty, extremely affordable comfort food. Having tried food scenes in the burbs and fancier, more expensive places in the city, I can definitely say that the hot dogs here are worth every penny and I can't to come back! read more

Was grabbing some dinner and I've always wanted to try Cheese Dawgs. It could not have been more convenient since I was getting a cheesesteak right next door to accompany my footlong. I tried the South Philly footlong which had grilled onion, spicy mustard and provolone cheese in a perfectly sturdy but supple and chewy roll. The exquisite hot dog was grilled perfectly and all the flavors worked perfectly together and this was only shockingly $5. Wow. I was talking to the owner who was a very friendly guy and they have a challenge here for $10 if you finish a 2 ft hot dog under 10 minutes you get your picture up on the wall and a t-shirt. Next time I'm coming ready to deep throat that challenge. So many unique styles of hot dogs going to be back here for sure on the regular. read more

Interesting and tasty hot dogs that get a bit overhyped because of their novelty concoctions. Reasonable price points. Neophytes Yelpers love and consequently overvalue novelty. Cheese dawgs is super highly rated because the owner is trying something new with fun hot dog toppings. That said, the hotdogs we had were good, not great. The beef of the hotdog itself was acceptable, but did not shine at the exception level of döp in Copenhagen or Sweet Dogs in Miami. This is where there was a clear lacking. The dog was served on folded white and rye bread respectively, which makes no sense to me. The hot dog bun exists for a reason. Use it. The Reuben dog was basically a regular hotdog with sauerkraut, a little swiss cheese, and brown mustard. It notably lacked Corned Beef and Thousand Island dressing, both of which I consider absolutely mandatory to the recipe. With the fat of the corned beef, the dog is overly acidic and ferment-y and unpleasant in flavor. This is a microcosm of the shop it seems: novelty over culinary function. The Chili Crunch dog was good, topped with chili and corn chips. None of it blew me away, but it was good. I'd come back if I was nearby. I'd recommend the shop hire a seasoned chef to take a look at the flavor profiles of the hotdogs. I think a few small tweaks in the recipes could take this place to the next level. They've got good customer service and a clearly loyal fanbase with a solid location and good informative marketing. read more

That kinda let me know I was going to enjoy my meal. I got a chance to really check out the menu (lots of hot dog choices) and look at the Hall of Fame. I don't know what the hot dog was to achieve that status, but I was hanging off of the plates in the pictures. Anyway, I ordered 2 hot dogs with chili, Cole slaw, and spicy mustard (don't judge me...my parents are from NC and that's how we eat 'em!), a bag of sweet potato chips, and a drink. My total was about $6 and it was one of thee best lunches I have EVER had!!! I was disappointed to learn they're closing soon, but I'm going to make sure I go visit before they do. I was actually laughed at for wearing a mask inside and trying to social distance ... on two occasions! I concur with other reviewers, this place is legit. Yes, it's easy to miss on that stretch of Bustleton Pike. Yes, the sign is a little off putting. However, these are the best hot dogs you're going to get in the Philly area; better than some food truck deeper in the city, believe me. There's no crowd here on week days, but watch out on Saturdays, that's when everyone wants their Cheese Dawgs fix before they shut down on Sundays. Now, I've never had a Chicago dog in Chicago, but I've had a few imitations in Philly. Their Chicago dog here takes the cake. All their ingredients are fresh and mostly true to the original, with the exception of no poppy seed bun. Their Philly dog is unique and overflowing with pepper hash, making it a messy but enjoyable experience. While the grilled cheese isn't the star of the show here, they are a solid addition to the menu and very tasty. The cilantro grilled cheese is an interesting mix of ingredients you'd find at a more upscale joint but for a decent price. I like it, it's different. I like this place mostly because it's different - there aren't many luncheonettes in the area and even with a smaller menu everything served here is good. It's obvious the owner really cares about his business and will go out of the way to make the meal enjoyable for you. As you walk in the atmosphere is very fun and friendly. You can see the owner working the grill and the register from behind the counter and pictures from wall to wall enshrining those who completed Cheese Dawg's signature eating contest. Something like a 3' Hot Dog any way you want it, served on a thick hoagie bun. The menu itself is huge. Tons of creatively named dawgs with everything from chili to Mac n cheese on top. I have to say, all the pics I've taken of my orders and seen others post on yelp can never really do it justice. The Hot Dogs are really delicious. The prices here are extremely reasonable, and the foot-Long dawgs are more than enough to fill you up for a meal. I write this review with a bit of sadness knowing I just had my last meal there since they are closing down. This has been a great "go-to" spot for me the past 10+ years. My favorite is the grilled cheese donut. I remember I had the very first one he made (and 4 of the first 6 actually, but who's counting) I was never able to "tame the beast" (2ft hotdog) and that will be a lifelong regret but I will somehow carry on. Not a big hit for me honestly, as much as the other reviews are giving all these high amount of stars. Been wanting to try this place for years since I lived in somerton and just came here on a whim with my daughter, brother, his wife and my nephew. I guess I was expecting gourmet hot dogs with gourmet toppings and was excited to try the different dogs they had on menu. So I ordered a mac and cheese dog and a regular one for my daughter. I was expecting like a baked mac and cheese type of deal but it was literally a kraft mac and cheese type of noodles on top of a regular hotdog- nothing to brag about at all. It's cool that they have a lot of different options but I could've made the same thing at home- I was expecting some gourmet baked Mac and cheese on top of a juicy dog. The toasted bun was a delicious addition but I know I wouldn't go back there again cause I expected something different then what I got.
