Ordered the long hot sausage with spicy mustard and sauerkraut. Not only is everything made to order, but the rolls are so fresh and warm and truly make everything come together. I can see why this place gets 5 stars. I mean check out that menu. They throw everything on those dogs. (corn chips,mac and cheese,peppers etc) I have to say, I wasn't expecting the place to look as nice as it does on the inside (flat screen tv,coffee bar,sports memorabilia) judging from the outside. It definitely threw me off that's for sure. The man behind the counter is a one man show. He took our order (party of 6) and got right to work on the grill. More customers came in and again he took their order and got right back at it. Pretty impressive. He served about 16 people all within about a 15 minute time frame. That's hard work right there. You have to Respect that. The hotdogs were as good as a hotdog can be. I'd Compare them to Nathan's or Dietz and Watson. Good enough in my book. It's unanimous! Cheese Dawgs is a great joint for Hot Dawgs, Grilled Cheese, and multiple combinations thereof. Unassumingly sitting in a old Bustleton Pike strip, just south of Street Road, Rick Tyrrell has created a little bit of nostalgia for those of us who grew up loving hot dogs (frankfurters if you are from the New York area). While the décor is minimalist, it has everything needed for a legitimate happy meal. With Bonanza playing on the TV, Rick introduced me to his shop and menu; recommending one of his newer items, the Grilled Cheese Dawg. It is what is sounds like; a Grill Hot Dog wrapped inside a Grilled Cheese Sandwich. All beef and well spiced (but not as much as Hebrew National garlicy meat tubes), it was an obvious "next step" in the evolution of two beloved American food groups. Symbiosis. Tasty and fun. With a side of Corn Chowder (perhaps, a little too thick, but still good), and a Stewart's Black Cherry Wishniak washdown, this was a fast lunch that had me smiling throughout. I hated to leave my childhood again, but knew it had to be. To make it easier, Rick gave me a $5 off coupon for ordering my next meal online in advance of arrival, and made a last recommendation of his new Bacon Buttercup. What's that? The bun was hot and crunchy it was so tasty, my little brother ordered the Jersey but without coleslaw. And then my mom ordered the Chili Crunch which is a hotdog with chili cheese with Fritos but she had the Fritos on the side. She also ordered a Lobster Bisque soup which was tasty too. We then saw the menu and really wanted to try the Grilled cheese donut! Omg yes it was amazing and yes you should try it. Don't judge a book by it's cover. This place is a heck of a find. I have driven past for years until I finally stopped in. I wish I had done so sooner. The owner and staff are always extremely friendly and courteous. The Hot dogs and Sandwiches can be very simple to extremely imaginative. I've been here a few times and have enjoyed the simple Hot Dog, and the more creative sandwiches. The last sandwich was a Porky, I think. It was a grilled ham and cheese with Bacon. It hit the spot! Stopped in today for a quick lunch. Wow this is a good place to get a decent hot dog. I went in today after reading some yelp reviews. This place can be somewhat overwhelming. They have a wide variety of different dogs. The owner was very nice and friendly. The ship was clean and organized. I ordered 3 hots dogs. Ordered and original with yellow mustard, it was outstanding! Perfectly toasted bun and a quality dog. Ordered a Chicago dog, top notch! He even had the neon green relish. The buns were toasted like a lobster roll. I did splurge a bit and ordered his foot long pig dog. It was very very good. It consisted of a quality dog, pulled pork, bacon, cheese and jalapeño. My only complaint would be the roll. While it was very fresh, it wasn't toasted. I enjoy that toasted roll. I also wish he carried fries. I always enjoy fries with hot dogs. Great place! I gave this place a shot based purely what I saw on Yelp, and who doesn't love a nice dog! I was very impressed with my dog! I ordered the chili crunch footlong dog and what a great choice! Best thing I noticed was the quality of the dog! It was great! Good flavors cooked to perfection! The chili was great! Fritos are Fritos .. But they added the perfect touch! I'd say the hot dogs were ok and filling. They were not quality dogs. You can taste the salt and fillers. What's a quality dog you say? I'd say Costco quality is probably a good baseline, bang for the buck. Some kosher dogs you see in the markets and at some nyc carts are good. This place is probably more like the quality of the dogs you get on sale for $0.99 or $1.99 for a pack of 8 at the market? We couldn't decide, so the two of us ordered three sandwiches, two sodas and a soup dipper (genius, by the way! why don't all places sell sandwich dippers?) and the total was less than $15! In the midst of a serious hotdog craving, it was clear that there was only one place to head. I've driven past this place hundreds of times and have made a mental note to stop by and grab some of their signature eats, grilled cheese and hot dogs--what could be better than that?! Of course, I never got around to trying it until a few days ago when my family stopped by and picked up a plethora of dogs. Upon first glance, this spot was really pretty dive-ey. With minimal decoration apart from dozens of photos on the wall of people who have successfully conquered the monster dog challenge. But after a quick chat with the owner (who is an incredibly nice guy) and a glance at the menu, it was clear that this place is something special. It was, honestly, really difficult to choose which dogs to go with. I ended up settling on the Philly dog (which included some of the best pepper hash I've ever tried) and the Trenton dog, which was wrapped in pork roll and American cheese . Its a shop that sells custom hot dogs-its not the Ritz-that being said the Chicago Dog I got was delicious and the chili cheese dawg I got was great as well-No bean chili! OK FOLKS----Make this review a FIVE STAR review. Cheese Dogs picked up and now sells a Kosher Hog dog (in my opinion---the best) Great meats, great spices and delicious. I finally had one today. A Chicago style hot dog! A slight upcharge for the Kosher dog---but worth it---and imho, much better than a veggie dog! All the ingredients were there....sport pepper, tomato slices, chopped vegetables. celery salt, home-made neon green relish...all on a New England style roll. Outstanding! Some of the combos won't work---they would either mix milk/cheese and meat, or contain pork (baked beansor non-kosher meat (e.g. chili con carne) Mac and cheese is also a problem. But, with the above limitations---this dog is a HOME RUN. Add to that a Hank's Diet Root Beer, and we are cruising at super sonic speeds. I didn't think you could really make a bad hot dog, but after stopping by here one afternoon I finally realized what it takes to make a good one. The menu is set up to have a variety of different specialty dogs, all affordably starting at $3-4, but with the option to upgrade to a footlong(basically a bit over twice as much food) for only $2 more! That's right, for $6, you can get a foot long, perfectly charred split all-beef dog with a plethora of toppings, on a toasted hoagie roll(or flat-top bun, I'm not exactly sure how he chooses the bread to go with each dog but it always turns out alright). The Pleasant Pig, Nightwalk, and Jersey are all great. Can't skimp on that perfectly crispy bacon. And you also can't leave without trying their grilled donut sandwich. You'd think it would fall apart after one bite, but the donut is bisected and toasted to firmness, and the ice cream is kept cold enough that it won't disintegrate when placed between the donut halves. So take it for what it is, a place that does simple, satisfying, topped-off hot dogs, but does so without skipping a single beat. read more

After visiting Cheese Dawgs, all I can wonder is why aren't more people talking about this place? Serious care was put into the combinations available. The assortment of dogs available was amazing. Not only do they have a variety of regular dogs, but specials just for that day/week/etc. From Chicago style to hot sausages and foot longs, this place has it covered. The thing that sets them apart from a generic hot dog spot are a mixture of great combos and the rolls. Oh man, those rolls. They come on a warm grilled roll that would normally be found in the New England area on a lobster roll. I got the Beast "A 2 foot hot dog with your choice of topping on a hoagie roll" If you eat it in under 10 minute you get a free t shirt the irony is it only a xl. So the food was really good and I surprised my wife by ordering a Grilled Ice Cream which is 2 slices of grilled pound cake with a ice cream center. I hope to be back there soon.
