First trip to Stewart's this season! Pulling in, the place looks clean and well kept. Our server was so nice and friendly. Food came out quickly. This is reviewed for what Stewart's is - quick serve, kitschy kind of place. The root beer was great as always. Nice and cold. It just tastes better in a glass mug for some reason. I tried the grilled chicken sandwich for the very first time ever. I was nervous because the California burger is my go to. I ordered it with lettuce, tomato, and 1000 island dressing. It was better than I expected. It had two thin pieces of chicken breast, which was a decent portion. The chicken was dry. I would order it again if I'm looking for a healthier option. Fries were meh. I don't think the portion size was large enough to share. The flavor was lacking and didn't to make me want to order them again. Maybe upgrading to cheese fries is the way to go. read more

Love the classic car hop places. It's always fun to have great service as the waiters or waitresses run up to the car to take your order. Super friendly and nice. Parking lots well maintain lots of spots to park and eat. Typical Stewart's type driving food... Burgers hot dogs cheesesteaks root beer etc. This one has some pork roll sandwiches as well. I love the staff here - they are all super pleasant, giving Chik-fil-A a run fir its money ;). I recently discovered this and I love their bean-free chili cheese dog with their Walking Dead Tacos, which is just LAYERED ground beef with cheese nachoes... none of this single dollop of cheese as a topping, so you get cheese/beef in every bite! What a fun place. I stopped by with my preschooler on a whim while we were out running errands and he said he was hungry. We each had a burger and shared fries. Burgers were the perfect size for us and the fries were nice and crispy. Service was friendly and my son loved that the food was served on a tray that was hung on the window. My husband was jealous (he has never been to a Stewart's), so we will be back soon so he can try this fun place, too. This place has always been around and it's a pretty simple place and simple menu but they have everything for everybody. They have hotdogs, grilled cheese, pizza, mozzarella sticks, a fish sandwich, a crabcake their California cheeseburger, which is her signature have french fries with her crinkle cut. It REALLY hits the SPOT. Stewart's root beer open for business every day 11 AM to 8 PM only closed on Sundays. They are wonderful and they do car side window service with the tray or if you want to take it to go they'll pop it in the bag for you they even have a cheesesteak which is a little steep in my opinion, but I'm willing to give it a shot and try it. It's around seven dollars but I have to think if it's anywhere as delicious as their Grilled chicken cutlet sandwich or their signature California cheeseburger, i'm sure it's going to be delicious. Tonight my mom has a California cheeseburger. It was grilled to perfection and delicious. I took a leap of faith and got their grilled chicken cutlet sandwich. They are all served on a regular size hamburger bun and they are very filling you can get any topping on them from lettuce, tomato onion, pickle or your choice of American or mozzarella cheese I thought I was still going to be hungry however, I am pleasantly full. This is my second time coming to 'Stewart's RootBeer Drive-In'. My first time was in 2000 & I had a fish sandwich and an orange float. It was so yummy. This time 2023, I had a hotdog & fries with an orange float & that was so delicious. Plus the service was excellent & fast paced & the server was so welcoming & nice too. This place is like the 50's so it's nice for a date for brunch or dinner, which ever you prefer. If it was up to me I'd do both lol. Anyways I would definitely recommend this place to everyone I know. Go down to Stewart's & have yourself a 'Orange Float'. Me and my wife was so excited we have wanted to try this place for years but they're always closed so I went on Google and got the times there open. So we went today she got the Cali burger I got the chicken fingers and I got bacon cheese burger and onion rings. She got the root beer and I got black cherry soda for our drinks. We got the cheese steak cali style (with tomato, lettuce, onion, pickles, and mayo), a strawberry shake, and a root beer float. The cheese steak was really good: the cheese was nice and melty, there was a large portion of steak, the cali style had the perfect combo of veggies and I love the finishing touch of mayo on the roll. The root beer float was delicious and refreshing and normally, you can't beat a Stewart's root beer on a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream, however, the strawberry shake did (unfortunately) beat out the OG float for us. It was nice and sweet, refreshing, and had the right creamy consistency you'd expect from the perfect milkshake, it also had slices of strawberry mixed, which I thought was a nice finishing touch. Been wanting to go here since it's around the corner from my house and it looks to have a nice 70s vibe with the drive in service and all. The staff were very friendly but the food was just average. People have been raving about the California burgers but they were really 'just ok.' The patty was very thin, similar to something you may get from a fast food chain restaurant for $1.00, nonetheless it has some flavor. The fries on the other hand tasted like they were soaked in oil. There was nothing flavorful or good about them. They lacked any flavor and had no salt. I wouldn't recommend anyone coming here unless you've never been here and you just want to experience having someone walk to your car and having the food sit outside your window to bring back old memories of your childhood. This is my all time favorite thing in New Jersey, ever. I started eating here as a little girl and have never gotten over the scramburger. The original owner started making something they call a scramburger ... It's exactly what it sounds like ... Ground beef scrambled up on a griddle. And you can't find these anywhere else in the U.S. They create a pocket in a kaiser roll & stuff it full of delish meat!! You can add onions & ketchup if you want it!! You drive-in to a spot & turn on your headlights to let them know you're ready for service. Not an overwhelming list of items on the menu but the food they offer is enough for everyone to get get something thye like. But why would you come here for anything else but the scramburgers?! LoL I recommend a tall, frosty mug of their Root Beer to wash down the food -- just seems to be fitting on top of the scramburger & great Crinkle-Cut Fries. The food takes less than 10 mins to deliver & they bring it out on a tray that fits on your car window - just like the old movies from the 50's! One thing to note - this is a seasonal joint so come between Memorial Day & Labor Day or else you'll miss out on something great!! I ordered a California cheeseburger which comes with a tomato slice, raw onion and thousand island. I also ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries. The burgers come plain so you need to be specific as to what toppings you want. The fries are simple crinkle cut but cooked to perfection. Let's be clear that the burgers here are very good, but this is not a gourmet restaurant. This is one of those places where you get a good meal for your dollar. Stewart's always has fast friendly service. Stewart's is a drive in so if you don't like eating in your car this is not the place for you. When you are ready to order you just turn on your lights and someone will be with you in minutes. They have all sorts of classics and they just added a few new products to their menu last year including onion rings and cheese fries. They have the best onion rings I have ever eaten! If you order a grilled cheese be mindful that it comes on a hamburger bun. Most of the servers will tell you that it comes on the hamburger bun though! read more

The food is yummy, pretty much what you'd expect, SteakUmm like cheesesteaks, burgers, and (my favorite) hot dogs that are fried so they have a little bite to them. The food is always super hot & fresh, you'll have to wait a few minutes to eat your crinkle fries. I've never tried the infamous Scramburger, but the waiter described it to me as a sloppy Joe without the sauce. The grilled cheese is a hamburger bun with a slice of cheese & seems steamed rather than grilled, but my kid likes it. I was tempted to dock a star for them being closed a lot (they're pretty strict on the seasonal thing; seems like they're closed too soon in September, plus closed Sundays & for a random week when the owners take a vacation) but I guess that's not really fair. This place is a dying breed of a bygone era. Back in the 50's this was the only place locally to get fast food, long before Micky D's, Burger King etc. The ones in lawrenceville & hamilton square have closed. So wanting their famous root beer i have to drive a bit further. But they are all very similar. Except belle mead nj, they enclosed the counter area so you can eat 12 months a year instead of 5. Their food offerings have always tasted better than the chains. Plus they are a better quality. So you may pay a bit more but think about it, you would want to cause you want the good stuff in your tank. Your kids tanks too. This location is only open in the warmer months. So we must wait until it warms up to get the good stuff. I know they sell their burgers frozen & while they are close by comparison they do not taste as good as the stands version. An experience. They hook the tray on your car window and you eat in the car. The guy who serves you looks very retro in his white uniform. I had a California burger, fries and an orange drink. Fries were really tasty. Burger was a little overcooked, but okay. Orange drink was warm and had no flavor. Eating from this tray felt a little awkward and I was afraid my drink--in a real glass mug, not paper or plastic--was going to fall off the tray and shatter. After I became vegetarian I would just come to get a grilled cheese or the fries, which are alright, but then they started having the crab-cake burger.
