I have eaten at Habit Burger several times while on business trips to Southern California. The burgers and shakes are really good. When this one opened i planned to eat here. The restaurant was clean, the staff waa friendly and the parking lot is shared by other business, but there are plenty of parking spaces available. Today was that day. I ordered the double char meal with onion rings and chased them with a cookies and cream milkshake and a sweet tea. I know its a franchise, but this one has it standardized. It felt like I was eating at a Habit Burger in SoCal, even though Im in Cherry Hill, NJ. There is no drop off on quality and taste, between the West Coast and East Coast versions. Delicious food, not like a fast food menu. Best burgers of any chain I have eaten at. You can see them grill them fresh, and they taste like they came off of the BBQ. Nothing microwaved, like at McDonalds & Burger King. Red Robin's burgers are good, but the wait is ridiculous. Habit also brews their own tea, and have real exotic fruit drinks. I stopped in here on a busy Friday afternoon to pick up a mobile to-go order through the app. Getting into the parking lot was a little tricky since right it's in the middle of a very congested shopping area. If you're familiar with Cherry Hill, you'll know exactly what I mean. The interior of the restaurant is probably the most impressive part. It's nice and clean, and the design is especially well-suited for dining in. Since my order was a pickup order, it was easy to do as that area is right across from the ordering counter. I only ordered because they offered a discount but when I went to get the food, they charged me full price and wouldn't make it right. The woman who barely spoke English kept repeating, "I don't know nothing," expecting me to just go away. I contacted their business with the form on their website and went round and round trying to add the time. It wouldn't take it no matter how I put it. The Habit Grill fits that part of the market below a gourmet burger like Zinburger, yet above fast food like McDonald's. This place is nothing fancy, but it is nice. They go for a Santa Barbara theme and the interior of the restaurant reflects this with very pleasing art. As for the food it's acceptable considering burgers are less than $6. I only get the portabella char which only cost $5.70, yet is filling for that price. There is a nice crunch to this sandwich because of the char, however this is offset by the garlic aioli being a little too salty for my taste and the bread being quite doughy and chewy. I was surprised at how much I liked this burger joint. My husband and I split 2 sandwiches and a fry. We did the Brunch Burger and the California Club. The Brunch Burger had a perfectly cooked runny egg on top. This took me back because it is a fast food place. The chicken club was good. My only complaint is the chicken filet was a bit thin and they don't salt the meat. Other than that, all was good. I also like the condiment packets. My go to spot when looking for fast food and great burger. I always get the double cheeseburger with fried onions, Mayo, lettuce, tomato, bacon and mushrooms. The meat is fresh and burgers made to order on a grilling area that's easily visible to customers. The onion rings and fries are decent, but not a must have. An array of fountain drinks are available for you to chose. Ice cream cone only cost $1. The double cheeseburger with the extras cost $12-15, bit with it IMHO. Their burgers are much better than Shake Shack, McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King and almost every place in the area. We tried Habit Burger on a Saturday night after passing on the one hour wait at Zinburger. Habit Burger is a chain that originated in Santa Barbara, California in 1969. It took them almost 50 years to get to South Jersey, but they made it. I had the Santa Barbara Char Burger which was a Double Char burger with Cheese & Avocado on Grilled Sourdough. It was a good burger and I liked the charcoal grill taste and the sourdough bread. The burger was a pretty good size too. We had their sweet potato fries and they were excellent. The Habit Burger Grill also has a nice and different selection of fountain drinks and milk shakes. The store was very clean and service was attentive and friendly. Habit Burger is better then In & Out Burger and also a notch or two above Five Guys. A surprise! The Habit Burger Grill had been on my list to try when I lived on the California border and was making runs down to Sacramento (about 2 hours away). Somehow, I never made it to one in California, but HUH, here it was just a few minutes away once I moved to NJ. So, it's my birthday month, and I'm always one to try to capitalize on that by using as many "free on your birthday" promotional opportunities as possible. In this case, Habit Burger gives you a free "Charburger with cheese" on your birthday when you join their mailing list/rewards program called "Char Club." The Cherry Hill store is in a heavily trafficked area but like so many other places in this sea of strip malls, is easy to miss. I'd probably driven by it several times and never noticed. Following in the footsteps of McDonald's and In N Out, they're originally from California and making their way east (if only we had in n out here!). I really don't have anything bad to say about the place. The burger was made to order, the beef tasted good and they'll make it to your liking (I wasn't asked about meat temperature though). I paid extra to make it a double burger as it was my breakfast that day, and was a pig and got onion rings as well. The onion rings were fried in fresh oil, no weird fishy taste like other places. The meat was good enough that next time, I wouldn't hesitate to order without a bun as i typically prefer. I won't do that with places that serve garbage beef. We're lucky to have this place here and the prices aren't horrible, perhaps even slightly less than five guys. My total would've been around $8 if I didn't have the free single patty birthday burger. I can't comment on their beverages or bathrooms, although the store seemed clean and service was friendly. A con for some would be no drive through window, however parking is plentiful and there was a nice padded bench inside near the counter on which to wait. I had coupons for here, so I decided to try it out last night. Overall, I was impressed with the location. There was ample parking, the restaurant was clean and there was plenty of seating that was spread out. I had the portabella burger- and while I didn't read the description I thought it would just be a portabella mushroom, but it was mushrooms on top of the burger. I liked that the burger came wrapped to hold because it did get pretty messy toward the bottom. They didn't go light on the avocado which I appreciated! My friend got a burger wrap - basically a burger with toppings with lettuce wrap instead of bun. His looked great too! Instead of fries, I got the fried green beans with sriracha - which was super good! And for drink I tried their house made berry lemonade - it was a refreshing treat on a hot day! What is a California style burger? As a California native, I couldn't tell you exactly. Conventional wisdom would point towards the thousand island special sauce or the thickness of the patties, but I'm not quite sure that captures it. I was thrilled to learn that a location was nearby. I first found this joint when I was visiting the Santa Barbara area. They have since put one in Charlotte and I found this location one day when I was out galivanting in the area. The food here at this place is solid. I love the Santa Barbara its a melt type burger with avocado. The ahi sandwich is also good, I also like the double char. Next time I want to try their seasonal chicken sandwich with tempura green beans.
