My favorite nail salon! I've never had a bad experience here. Everyone here is so nice. Highly recommend.

Let me start by saying, I got a full set of acrylics with a shellac polish & it is wonderful. I could not be happier with my nails- the nail tech who did them really took her time and made sure they were perfect. I got a beautiful nude color and a coffin shape. However, the things that I wasn't super happy with: I called around noon to set up an appointment for myself to get a full set and a pedicure at 4:15pm. I arrived a bit early- I got there right at 4pm, so although I expected to wait for a little bit, I didn't expect to wait for over an hour. When I walked in, I told the gentleman working that I had an appointment: he didn't ask for my name or what services I was getting- and he simply told me to pick a color and have a seat. Like I said before, I had to wait over an hour before anyone helped me. I completely understand how easy it is to run behind and I do not have a problem with waiting. My issue is that I was seated for over an hour- after making an appointment- without any communication whatsoever on what I could expect. I wish that they would have simply told me that they were running late so that way I could have done something else with my time besides sitting on an uncomfortable stool and awkwardly playing on my phone for a long time. Another problem that I had was that while I was seated and waiting, three women came in after me- one of which did not even have an appointment, and they were all helped before me. The two ladies who did have the appointments were both scheduled for pedicures at 4:30. They were both finished with their pedicures before I got helped. I was really frustrated with this because, like I said before, I had also scheduled a pedicure but for an earlier time than they did, so I'm wondering why they didn't do my pedicure earlier if they were able to? It seems like Sunny Nails is the type of nail salon to show bias and preferential treatment to clients who they already know. My pedicure was nothing special. The chairs are more comfortable than most and I appreciate their sanitization practices. However, the whole reason I pay to get a pedicure somewhere is for the massage and the exfoliants. The massage lasted about 5 minutes and the exfoliant did absolutely nothing for my dry feet. I wish I would have saved myself the $35 and painted my toenails at home myself. Lastly, when it came time to pay, I handed one of the ladies working my debit card. She wouldn't accept my card and told me that they prefer cash... While I do understand that many businesses prefer cash payments- I've never been flat out rejected because of it. She referred me to their ATM, to which I waddled over to with wet toenails to pull out money to pay them with. A little off putting. Ultimately, I would recommend Sunny Nails if you are looking to get acrylics. If you are looking for any other services, I'd suggest going elsewhere. The folks working were somewhat friendly. At the end of the day, I'm happy with my nails and that is what offset the other negatives that I experienced. read more

Went in for a fill of my acrylic nails with gel polish. I have been to this salon 5 or 6 times and usually the nail technician is Vi or her mother. Today I had the male owner. When I asked him to paint the ends/tips of my nails because he wasn't painting them ( and the ends are always painted because why would you have the ends clear with no polish) he asked me "who usually does your nails?" I told him his wife & daughter. He proceeds to tell me that HE doesn't paint the ends but will this time. The entire time he doesn't speak a word. Very unfriendly & unprofessional. When I go to pay him, he says $35. I look dismayed and tell him that have always been charged $30. Apparently he wanted to charge me for painting the ends of my nails. (This is just a fill with gel polish. Not French or designs.) He concedes and says $30 then. Every time I have been in this salon they charge different prices for different people for the same service. A few weeks ago I had my first pedicure at this salon & it was terrible. The polish job was alright but the actual nail grooming, there was none. Then the lady says "For You it's $45" Really? What? My nail fills all have been good up to today with the the female owner & Vi but I will not be returning. The male owner did such a shabby job, his miserable attitude and their unethical practices regarding prices. The owner needs to retire and leave the business to his daughter. read more

The shellac manicure I got was nice. The application was lumpy on some nails but overall not bad. What was upsetting to me was that I saw they had a card machine but she told me it was cash only and to use the ATM to get money out. Come to find out through a friend that they do take card. She lied to me in order for me to use the ATM which means they get money for the transaction fees. read more

I've been to several different nail salons throughout Salem and this one is my favorite so far. I got a manicure and pedicure for my first visit and was very impressed by the quality of service. My technician (unfortunately I can't remember her name) was meticulous and did a great job. The value was also great for the quality of work. I will definitely be returning. read more

Last minute pedi. At first they didn't have an appointment for 2 people, but then the owner called back and said that they had room. Loved that!!! Lena and Anna did our pedis and were wonderful. Comfortable new massage chairs. Great price. While in there I decided to do shellac and they were able to accommodate that as well. I also appreciated that they didn't push for extra purchases. Love Sunny Nails! Just had a pedicure with Lena, she is great....They do take credit cards but prefer cash because of the rising fees.

Nails came out so terrible. They were square but the ends were much wider, there was a dent in one of them that didn't get fixed. Had to go home and reshape them and re color. read more

I've been here several times and sometimes the work is fine, but there is one gal who has done a horrible job for me and my friends EVERY single time. Her work is painful, ugly and her attitude is unpleasant. I was so disappointed my last visit, that I will never go there again. I was preparing for a vacation to Florida and my nails looked awful, felt awful and still do. Sharp edges scratch me, hair gets stuck between them... I would have had them redone elsewhere immediately, but because of traveling, I did not have time. Trusting this company with my nails for my special occasion was the biggest disappointment ever. read more

By far the best nail salon I have been too. I have been to many in Portland and none have come close to the service and nail designs I get here. They always have a lot of colors to choose from and I love the chairs of the pedicures so comfy. They have opened on a day off just to get me in for an event I had the next day. I will go out of my way to go here like the other reviewer. I've gotten waxing done here too also great, I usually just go for the full face wax so smooth and detailed. read more

I wanted to give this place a chance after being recommended here for pedicures by a friend. I called and scheduled a pedicure for myself and a friend for a few days away. My friend later learned that she was scheduled to work that day. I called Sunny Nail to reschedule. The man who answered was the same man I had originally spoken to. I told him my name, the time of my appointment, and the time I wanted to reschedule for. He could not find me on the schedule and kept asking me to repeat my name and time. Meanwhile, he was obviously distracted talking to another customer who was at the salon, he kept bouncing between conversations. When he finally was focused back on me, he said "this time you write down your appointment so you don't forget." This infuriated me! A customer should never be treated this way. Last minute took my Bride to Be best friend here to get her nails done for her wedding. Was able to make an appointment the day before for two pedicures, a full set for her, and a shellac mani for me. We got there on time for our appointments and had almost no wait. The pedicures were phenomenal. We each received foot/leg massages that lasted about 15mins. Since I'm currently pregnant, the massage on my poor swollen feet was phenomenal, my best friend who is not pregnant also agreed. My toes look great, I got them pink and had the lady do a cute flower design, I'm very pleased with them. The nails were next and they turned out great as well. The lady that did mine also massaged my hands and wrists which felt amazing. My friends acrylic full set of bridal nails turned out phenomenal. All in all the experience was awesome, and we will definitely be coming back to this salon when I come to Salem to visit her!! read more

I love coming in here. My shellac manicures last me 3 weeks. They always do a great job on pedicures too.

Very disappointed no good service at all. They overcharged everytime if you asked they make excuses. My nails start coming off after one week they still don't care and it's not first time it's 3rd or 4th time. When I stopped there to show them they start making excuses like your skin maybe oily that kind of stuff but everybody is mature enough to understand nobody is going to do their nails every week. They just want money and only money they don't know how to satisfied customer. The owner of the shop is not friendly at all. I don't recommend anybody to go there. They are accommodating, efficient, and do good work. Every once in awhile when I have a little extra time and some cash, I sneak out of the house to get a pedicure. They have always been willing to get me in and then do a nice job giving me pretty feet and toes! read more

Sunny nails was pretty good. I liked my manicure, but definitely don't believe the prices you find online. The actual manicures are $15 and not $6 like I had found. I think I also just may not like going to nail salons, but they did a good job. I could definitely do my own for cheaper and the only reason I wanted to go was because I was surprised and delighted by the potential cheapness. But it's not. If you like nail salons I recommend it, just don't believe the prices online. read more

So I have gone to sunny nails when I like to get my nails done which is not often enough.. My mom for my birthday gave me a gift card for a mani pedi and we want today. I took along my 7 week old baby and my mom and myself went in for a pedi mani. Unfortunately I was unable to get my mani as the baby was demanding my attention. I used my gift card for my pedi, and when the girl gave the card back there was 10$written on it. I asked how much is mani.. She states 15$. I said there is only 10$ stated on her. She stated that because I did not do them together she charged me full price for the mani. Really... It says nothing on gift card they must be done together and it was obvious why I could not do mani at that time and she seemed annoyed with me having to bring baby along. It's a gift card.. I have to use it at there establishment.. And would have been coming back... I guess I should have just let my baby cry and disturb there other customers instead I was being a mother, and sometimes plans have to be flexible, but it would have been nice to know that I had to pay extra.
