Ironic that I am just seeing a review I posted in September of 2021 regarding a hideous experience I had back then at Hollywood Nails. I was told that Hollywood Nails in West Salem near ROTHS. had a new owner and was now a better salon. I rang yesterday, Wednesday afternoon, to book appointments for my father & me the next day (today) Thursday. I was VERY VERY CLEAR that my father has dementia hence I needed my mani and pedi done by 2 people together while he was having his pedicure so that I would be finished near the same time as he was. He has little patience and I did not want him agitated by waiting around for me. I repeated my request 2x and the lady on the phone answered yes, both times. 3 manicurist should have been booked for the 11:30 appointment,AGAIN, REITERATED TO HER. Also, I was clear that we could come in at ANY time today. She said 11 o'clock and then said "no, 11:30". Arriving at 11:25 a manicurist confirmed our appointment and said "have a seat we will be with you in a few minutes", approximately 8-10 minutes later the same woman approached me saying that they were ready for my father and was it ok that I wait another 10 minutes or so and have my pedicure first and my manicure afterward. I said "no, this is not what I booked and confirmed, so I will have just a pedicure" ... she either didn't understand or just didn't care and went back to her pedicure client. The women across from me having pedicures witnessed this interaction and just shrugged and rolled their eyes, chuckling at her obvious neglect and disregard of a booked client. By approximately 11:50 no one had come back to me and 2 more clients arrived saying they had 12 noon appointments. Again, same manicurist, immediately seated one in a pedicure chair. Hence I was given no apologies nor regard. My father was finished we paid for his services and left. I have leased a home in West Salem for several months to assist with my parents; father with dementia, mother with bone cancer, I was exhausted and looked forward to time in a massage chair having a mani and pedi only to be ignored. I wasted my time which is very spare and precious, these days. THIS IS SO UNPROFESSIONAL !! I am sure that the salon won't care but they have lost a potentially loyal client as I live just up the hill and shop at ROTHS so Hollywood nails would have been very convenient for me. These ladies don't want to take them time to PROPERLY remove acrylic nails. They are not supposed to be removed by taking a pair of tweezers to them and yanking them off, they require to be filed down and soaked in acetone. Peeling them off with tweezers is extremely damaging to your natural nails and it will take months for them to grow the damage out. I was argued with and told that removing them properly would take too much time. I made an appointment to specifically have my acrylics removed. read more

I like walking into a business and appreciating how clean it is kept; this is a clean and healthy business. The staff continue to sanitize the surfaces and provide and encourage hand sanitizers for customers. My toenails have issues with being ingrown. A professional pedicure from Sreyhan solved this problem; my toes and feet feel much better now (pain is gone). Also my toes and feet look better and are cleaner after a pedicure. I went here for my first and last time I had a spa pedicure gel. When i got home i noticed it was really smudged. I contacted owner about it. They asked to see pictures I sent 4 pics. I live an hour from this location. She said, it didnt looked bad and if i come back in a few days they will see. First off she made me feel like I was doing something wrong. 2 day update the polish on my thumb already chipped and I've never had this happen I called earlier in the week and made an appointment for Saturday at 11:30 before I needed to go out of town. I arrived at 11:20 and waited until 12:05 to even be sat in a chair, then I was moved from one station to another after my nails were filed (too short). The tech then applied the acrylic and it burned my nails I've never had that happen before. As she applied the gel polish I noticed lots of streaks and bumps but assumed it'd even out after a few coats. Overall my nails look fine it was just an unpleasant experience. read more

After trying several places in Salem, I discovered Hollywood Nails in my own neighborhood. I absolutely LOVE having my nails done here! I had bitten my fingernails down to the nub for about fifty years. Now my nails look beautiful! Jenny is my all-time favorite and does a wonderful job! I've been going for a couple of years and refuse to go elsewhere. I've also had the most wonderful pedicures there - I've always been pleased with the massage and the nails. Hollywood Nails has a peaceful, clean environment. If you've been only one time and was not pleased with the result, try again but with a different nail technician... One nail that she did was especially bad and I had to keep telling her to fix it she finally took the nail Polish off and started over but it still looks bumpy and awful. I have been to Hollywood Nails 5 times now over the last two months. My favorite nail techs are Jenny and Nancy. I have walked in without an appointment and I have called for same day appointments and they have been very accommodating every time. Jenny answers the phone and greets you, she speaks perfect English so it's very easy to understand her. I have tried other nail places around town and what I like about Hollywood is it is very clean. I also like that they use your name. "We are ready for you Miss Jenny". The walls are painted a soft blue, the massage chairs are all brand new. I have been to this salon several times because of the location. The service has been adequate but nothing special. Yesterday I took my granddaughter and I was so disappointed and furious. My granddaughter who Is 8 years old, she wanted mood polish on her nails. No manicure just polished. We both had pedicures and we asked for shellac. When I got to th e counter, the owner said it would be $97.00! I asked her to explain the charges. She said $22 for my granddaughters pedi and $15 for the shellac and another $15 for the polish on her nails. I said that I was told it was $15 to paint mood polish on her fingernails, she didn't tell me another $15 to polish her toes? The manager yells across the salon to the employee in their language and they both start laughing! I said, "You don't have to be so insulting!", she said I was only speaking to her. It was so obvious they were talking and laughing about my question and treating me and my granddaughter with blatant disrespect. I will never step foot in this salon. I went to this place a few times with my aunt, and I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it so much that I went there with a co worker of mine and they they still did a really good job. The last time I went there to get my acrylic nails taken off they ripped my nails off with a fake nail, then she ripped my actual nail off. I am a very understanding person. I didn't complain at all. I told them I wasnt going to pay the full price because they did cut me and rip one of my nails off. So she agreed to let me pay $35 dollars. I Checked my bank statment the bext day and they charged me $45 dollars. So, I called back and complained about everything and the manager of this establishment hung up on me. I called back again and she then again hung up on me again. There are plenty of other nail salons in the salem area that will treat there regular customers with respect that you don't need to give your buisness to this one. I went to get my nails done for my birthday and had a horrible experience. Overall I was there for 2.5 hours with them working on them and the lady that worked on my nails did not know what she was doing. Someone else kept Stepping in instructing her. My fingernails ended up being too thick, they changed my original color I wanted due to errors while dipping them, they didn't trim them to size I did when I got home because they were too wide and underneath my original nails weren't cut back and separating from the acrylic nails. My cuticle was filed down on a finger so much that it started to bleed and they applied super glue to stop the bleeding which was very painful. The lady that kept stepping in to instruct finally took over and tried fixing them. After they were done I paid $45 with a sorry and a $5 discount they said for waiting too long. read more

You know how you always kind of wonder if the person doing your nails is talking about you when she speaks another language to her associate while she does your nails? Go to Hollywood nails if you want to know for sure. I went in with a friend yesterday to get shellac on my fingers and toes. I do my nails the same way every time--pink with sparkles on top. After picking my shade of pink and the type of sparkles that were closest to what I wanted, she started doing my nails. When the pink was on and it was time to do the sparkle, I asked the woman to test the sparkle on my ring finger just to make sure that I liked it before I put it on all of them. She and the woman doing my friend's nails exchanged looks and then she put it on my ring finger. It was as pretty as it always is and I said that I loved it. The woman doing my friend's nails laughed and started speaking in her first language (I'm not going to pretend that I know what language it was). They hadn't spoken to each other at all until this point. I was slightly embarrassed, thinking they might be talking about me. I was absolutely mortified when I heard the English word "sparkle" mixed in with their sentences ... And then heard the other woman laugh. For 5 minutes the two girls chatted, and in that time I heard them say the word "sparkle" at least two times each. I turned red, both embarrassed and angry. It felt malicious. It felt like they wanted me to know, beyond any reasonable doubt, that they were talking about me. Why else would they say every word other than "sparkle" in their language? I should have confronted them and said that I knew they were talking about me rather than remaining silent and tipping the woman 10$, but what do they care if some 22 year old girl says she's never coming back? read more

This was the worst costumer service I have ever experienced. You must know I have worke din customer service for 10 years and understand the difficulties of dealing with customers. To try and keep a long story short, i won't go into ALL the details. 1. made me bleed twice and used cotton balls and nail glue to try and stop the bleeding. 2. Continually sat back in his chair to text. 3. made someone else start paining my nails. part way through he made me move again back to his station so he could finish. 4. the coverage of the polish wasn't very good and there was never an attempt to make it fully covered. 5. I got home and the Shellac nail polish started to bubble and lift. I was furious at this point. 6. This all happened on a wednesday. I wasn't sure if I was going to go back and ask for them to fix it until i noticed they DOUBLE CHARGED MY ACCOUNT. I work in customer service, i know mistakes happen, but this was never voided. So I went in to complain and ask for my money back. 7. The lady was extremely rude and insulted that I was upset. I was in a hurry to get to the wedding I had that night (wanted nice nails for the wedding). She had him work on my nails again to try and fix the bubbles by taking a nail file aggressively AGAIN to the places that were bubbling. He then repainted ANOTHER coat. never took any of it off, just kept layering the nail polish. 8. There, in the store, it started to bubble again. He blamed me for choosing the color that I chose. I told him that's not my fault and I want a different color then, but am in a really big hurry and would just like my money back. They wouldn't give me a refund. 9. He made me come back Saturday to re paint them, which he still aggressively filed it off and made me bleed again just from using a nail file! He also got so much paint in the creases of the nail and skin, which began to lift two days later. 10. By MONDAY, my account still had a double charge in it. The cost was $31 and they charged me $62!! I called and she told me I needed to come in. 11. I work a full time job and couldn't make it in until Thursday. It had been over a week and there was no attempt at getting me the money the overcharged for. I went in to the store it the lady that "ran the machine" was not in. A ver nice girl took my card information, name and phone number and said she would call me back. 12. I heard nothing from the lady and called again right before they closed. Still no money. 13. She made excuses about the machine and said she'd see what she could do but it was the machines fault, not hers. (We've all used these machines and Ive never had mystery charges being ran twice. You have to run the card and push the button for it to charge). 14. Today, Friday. I have still not been given back the $31 overcharge. I called to check on it, she said it'll take her a couple days to do it. I told her at this point I want all of my money back because this has been the worst costumer service I've ever experienced. I've been going here for years, but after the last two visits never again! Second to last visit: I popped in on a Saturday afternoon for a manicure. The young man that did my nails acted completely annoyed that he was having to work on me. He gave me a super quick, super painful, horrible manicure, while speaking angrily to a woman that worked there. Last visit: I popped in on a Friday evening for a manicure and pedicure. The same young man, small with a buzzed head and what appear to be cigarette burns up his forearm, brusquely told me at least five times to pick a nail polish, and each time I told him I had my own polish for my toes, which he didn't hear any of the times I said it because in between telling me to pick a polish he was yelling at the other young woman who was there working. Once I was in the chair he continued to yell at the young woman while he slammed a file across my nails. The young girl was hunched over my feet, doing my pedicure, not speaking. The young man, who was highly agitated, kept looking at the door, while roughly working on my nails. After between I'd been uncomfortably sitting there between 5-10 minutes, with him yelling the entire time, I asked what time they closed, and he spit out, "Seven. Don't you see everyone leave!?!" I looked at my watch and saw that it was just after 7pm. I told him that I didn't realize, and that I would wait for the manicure. He said he would do it because it would be done by the time my toes were done. He again gave me a super quick, very painful, horrible manicure. When he was finishing up he asked if I lived in the area. When I said yes, he said, "And you don't know what time we close!?!" I said that the door was open, the 'open' sign was on, as it still was, so how was anyone supposed to know they were closed. He told me that if I would have called for an appointment they would have told me no appointments after six. All the while he was still slamming stuff around. I said that if anyone would have said something when I walked in I would have gladly come back the next day, that part of the reason I get pedi/mani's is to relax, and this experience was anything but relaxing. He again told him that if I would have called for an appointment they would have told me. I told him he wouldn't have to worry about me ever doing it again, because I would never be coming back again. Seriously the WORST mani/pedi experience I have ever had in my life!!!! read more
