Females beware. My daughter attended a EDM concert last night at Sunbar. Loud music and packed with people jumping and dancing. She was with two other friends for about 1.5 hours when a guy nearby started yelling at her. He left and she figured he was drunk or on drugs. She decided to leave about 30 minutes later but her friends stayed. While attempting to walk out a Security guard stopped her and said he needed to talk to her. She asked why and he wouldn't say but wanted her to walk out back with him. She said no and that's when two other Security guards grabbed her and pushed her out into the back alley. These 3 large men started yelling at her accusing her of trying to steal wallets and phones. She offered to be searched and they said no but continued yelling at her. She was super scared and was in fear they were going to hurt her. She ran away into the dark alley behind Sunbar at midnight to escape. The police were called. I tried multiple times to call Sunbar however nobody picks up the phone. She was lucky but I worry what will happen to the next female who is pushed out by herself into a dark alley. Sunbar is dangerous and females should take extreme caution when coming here. read more

I am Handicap with a handicap plaque to dispaly. I drove to Sunbar to visit and see a show so i normally dont drive cuz i live a few blocks away on the lake but my back was spasming so i decided to not walk on mill for safety. I originally pulled in where it had signs that said parking for sandbar customers only and the parking spot has a pole w sign on it that is flipped the opposite diection but when i got out of car to see what it said it said handicap so i thought that was best to park in the handicap spot they had available it was just a parking area that was attached with walk through like they were connected. I walked around to front and all lights were off dark like closed except for a man setting in dark in a booth to left so i waked and sat @ another place and waited a while then came back to car to put my bag in it and there were metal rows of gates that had been put up in parking area blocking handicap sign and parking spot. I was just going to let it be but thought i should ask who it was that put up gates. I asked one of the guys that were checking people, about what i was to do and before i could finish my sentence he yelled "im not moving Anything"! Like meaning not moving his gate that he had just put up making sure they blocked the car. So when i would have been done watching the show then how was i suppossed to get out? He proceeded to tell me that i can move my car after @ am, telling one of the girls he should tow my car, that i better not destroy any of his stuff or hell call the police ,just smurking and being very rude and definately not handicap accomodating actually causing hardship for me by not trying to hear me or accomodate my situation. He immediately chose to start being aggressive not trying to listen as to why i was parked there. Why would they have a handicap parking spot attatched to a sign that says parking for Sandbar customers only and then not expect for a handicap person to park in it to come to sandbar and have a handicap parking spot in an area where u are going to turn an completely open parking area into a blocked off line for customers to enter when the entrance is around the front. It has no warnings , no signs saying this area turns into metal lines later, or dont park here construction.... Anything?! Sanbar should look @ video and see me from the minute i parked so they see why and how i did and then how their employee treated me and caused me not to come in to sandbar and to end my evening and to walk my handicap self home alone because so upset the way he treated me. Did not want to go into sandbar after his attitude! There are many handicap spaces on mill and the only reason i parked in that one is because it was attatched to Sandbar parking. It was 10 pm when this encounter happened. There was no one in that line. 1 guy walked up when he heard that employee chewing me out and he tried telling me to just manover my way out like trying to help me. There was no reason for his attitude and especially beings im handicap he should have tried to accomidate or help a little. The gates are literally easily movable obviously cuz they move them around many times a day. He was just out of line. I actually didnt even ask him to move them he just started blurting out that "He isnt moving anything". That he should tow me. Never asked me if i was trying to come in for show . I was going to be a paying customer if he would have cared to ask. I know people who work @ Sunbar and have always had a great time and service until tonight because of the attitude and high horse attitude of that employee in back parking area. I walked home to write this review instead of enjoying my Friday night . My husband went to retrieve my car that they had blocked in and he told them he was going to call the police so the same guy that harrassed me decided to move the gates so he could get my car out of a federal parking spot for handicap. I should have called the police on him when i was there for blocking a handicap parking place bjut then that might have caused a fine for them. Please educate that employee on federal rules , handicap parking, and common manners. read more

We went for a birthday brunch. We are in are 30's. My gf left her wallet at home and they wouldn't let her in, even if she didn't drink. She had to drive over an hour home to get her ID. Then I got a call from my boss and had to step away from the table . I understand I wasn't wearing a mask, but I was standing in the middle of a patio with NOONE around me and I got yelled at to sit at my table, and when I asked if I'm not allowed to make a call? He said NO you need to sit now. Overall I was just not impressed with this place. If your in college and looking for a place in Tempe, I'm sure it's fine, but for adults looking to have brunch, this was ridiculous, and I was not impressed. read more

Just tried out Sunbar with my girlfriend as we are staying across the street for vacation. It was decently crowded for 2PM on a Monday, but we still received excellent service from the bartender as well as the manager who asked us several times how we were doing. I came in last weekend and I just have so many things to say. First off, do the employees know how to shower? or how to clean? I felt unsafe due to low maintenance on personal and facility hygiene. Over priced, and my food and drinks took too long. All the employees also acted kinda funny? Like they were on drugs? I'm not sure exactly what, but everything about this establishment smelt bad, had bad customer service. They were too busy talking to others as I'm dehydrated and desperately needed their service. When I asked when my drinks will arrive, they said "one second" and went back to the bathroom. They argued with me about how long my drinks are taking. read more

After waiting we finally decided to wave and catch a bartender's attention, I think it was the bar back who noticed we were trying to get his attention but he just turned and walked away. FINALLY the girl bartender came up to us and not very polite asked do you know what you're ordering? I asked for a bottle of champagne and she said well are you going to order food? I said no then she said replied back not without food you can't, understandable so I asked can I see a drink menu and she said the QR code is right there just pointed at it and proceeded to walk away. I don't know where to start, this place is amazing. Largest beer selection on mill ave hands down. There is 45 draft options and about the same in cans. To say the least the menu is phenomenal. There is options for everyone whether you are in search of a great burger or need some vegan options. They have it all. Came to sunbar tonight and the waitress was so nice and kind, we got a cucumber gin spritz and they served us a cucumber mojito we knew because had previously ordered the mojito so the waitress went back THEN the bartender comes up to us with a very rude and hostile attitude and says "you guys have a question about your drink? that's the cucumber gin?" and we said ummm are you sure it's in the same glass as the mojito as well, and he went on refusing to say that it wasn't the mojito, he was a medium sized man with a beard and he refused to say it wasn't the mojito. the waitress was so kind and bought us the right drink out of her own tab because he was SO RUDE and refused to comp us the right drink. if you come here expect the worst service from the bartender but the rest of the serving staff was very kind! read more

Tyler (manager) was absolutely phenomenal he was able to move us around to make sure we were in an ideal location during our reservation and he checked in on us multiple times had a great attitude and exceeded expectations! Although even though that service was great he wasn't even our server, Gabby was and she was not on top of it at all. She checked in on us one time, literally once while we were there after a couple hours I was really disappointed and the one time she did check on us she did not bring the order right and I will recognize they got busy after we had been there for a while but to not check in once seemed a little ridiculous. I absolutely love this place! The service is always great and the food and drinks are amazing. I was so happy when they opened up after being shut down due to COVID. I came in on Thursday and our server was so sweet and attentive, I didn't catch her name but she had a gorgeous butterfly on tattoo on her chest. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because of my experience Friday night. I came in with a group and right away our server made us feel like we were such an inconvenience to her. I believe her name was Amanda and I've honestly never experienced such rude service. They don't know how to accuracy pour drinks. All the bartenders pour very short. Like very very short, they don't know how to properly count the liquor pours and it shows. They are very needy and try and get you to cash out quickly. They don't even know how to properly deal with guests. The staff is absolutely terrible and it shows. Get better Bartenders of staff that knows how to deal with large quantities of people. They clearly don't know how to deal with large sums or people in general. Sun bar is a joke. Get some Real employees who know how to properly deal with waiting guests. The pours are ass and you really need to go value that if you intend on people to continue to come to your bars the servers think their hot shit and the bouncers are douche bags.
