Fat Tuesday is a bit hit or miss. About 95% of the time the service is great, and we've had some fun conversations with the bartenders. On a few occasions, though, we've walked out after waiting at the bar without anyone acknowledging us, even when it wasn't busy. We usually visit during the day, so I can't speak much to the late-night weekend crowd. Our favorite thing to do is grab our drinks and sit outside to people-watch on Mill Avenue. The patio even has misters for those hot Arizona days. The frozen drinks are delicious, and the Peach Bellini is my favorite. The medium is a much better value than the small, so I'd recommend going with that. We've also eaten here a few times, and the bar food hits the spot. They usually have good music playing too. Despite the occasional service hiccup, this is one of our regular downtown Tempe stops and a place we enjoy bringing friends from out of town. read more

Skip the milk and cookies. Santa wants Cajun eggnog. Cajun eggnog + a floater of Southern Comfort. That is what the three of us had while eating some pizza from next door. Was it indulgent? Yes. Did I feel that SoCo? Also yes. But more importantly, did it give me blurry flashbacks of my days as an ASU student or a tourist in Las Vegas? DEFINITELY YES! While I didn't get any food here, the adult slushies still slaps. I'm glad they were cool about us eating pizza from next door out on their patio with a purchase of some drinks. Whenever I hear the words "Fat Tuesday," I think of college, Las Vegas, and all the periods of time in my life when I've made questionable choices. We had been grabbing pizza next door after going holiday shopping and an adult slushie sounded fun. They had a Cajun Eggnog being sold as it's December. After trying our the sample cup, we went for it. Cheers! I didn't think it was boozy but J-Wow claims the Southern Comfort had her feeling sleepy after she had a medium cup ($12) of it. I think it was the calories bomb of pizza and eggnog that had her feeling sleepy but I'm not here to argue with that. It's a solid spot here on Mill Ave and Sixth Street. I did not eat their food, but they have out door seating and they allow people who get pizza from Prince Street Pizza to use their patio and eat since the pizza place has no seating. Fun hangout place on Mill avenue, great for groups. My coworkers went on a weekday for lunch and enjoyed our food. There was only one staff member working, so we did have to go up to the bar and order. He was really nice and brought our food to the table, quick service. For anyone who wants to sit outside, there is a lot of outdoor seating available. The music was really loud and it was almost possible to hear someone else talking. While this may be fun at night, during the weekday lunchtime it wasn't. There was also a weird smell when walking in, this is the second time I have visited and both times I noticed it. Came in during lunch time on a Thursday. When you enter you are able to sit wherever you like. We were informed during our time there we would need to order at the bar. We ordered at the bar and the food was delivered to our table. The restaurant plays loud music (reggaeton) over the speakers and gives off a very lively atmosphere. It would be a great place for happy hour, pre gaming and/ or energetic entertainment with friend. It may be hard to have conversation if you come in a group. I ordered the Baja Tacos and they were good. The slaw and salsa had a good flavor. The order comes with three tacos. My recommendation would be is I would like if they would offer fountain drinks (Coke products) or bottles beverages to enjoy with my meal. read more

The good: Service was great, the server checked up on us several times to make sure we were good. The music they play is very upbeat, made me want to get up and dance! The drinks were tasty! I had the Superman slush, very delicious! The bad: The food was not great. We got the Buffalo chicken dip, pretzels with cheese, and the Buffalo wings. The sauce on the wings had a weird flavor. The Buffalo dip was cold when we received it, as was the cheese sauce for the pretzels. None of it seemed very fresh. Went here on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't super busy when we arrived but traffic picked up during our visit. We sat ourselves and it took a minute for someone to notice we were there. It was freezing where we initially sat inside so we went outside and the weather was perfect. The waitress was nice but she would disappear for long periods of time. Me and my friends each got a drink. The drinks are usually perfect so that's not new. What was new to me because it's been forever since I've been here was the food menu. It completely changed. They need to bring the egg rolls back! Anyway, I got hot lemon pepper wings and onion rings, my friend got the Buffalo chicken salad and fried pickles, and other friend got the platter with 3 items that I can't remember. The portions on the platter were small. The wings were good but could have been crispier. I didn't know this bar prohibited smoking, but instead of giving me a simple warning, one of the security guards came at me with an extremely rude attitude. He didn't explain anything professionally -- he just grabbed my drink and threw it straight into the trash. Absolutely disrespectful and unprofessional behavior. The way your staff treats customers is honestly worse than a 3-year-old child with no manners. Customers are the ones paying money and keeping your business alive, yet your employee acted completely uncivilized and disrespectful. And to the manager: you have a staff member treating customers with zero culture or professionalism. If you cannot properly train your employees on basic respect and customer service, then you are a failed manager. Rules are rules, but there is a way to talk to people like human beings. Had a big group with two kids. Informed waitress it was someone's birthday when taking our order and she said I got you. After paying and waiting awhile I went to go follow up with that "I got you." The staff was friendly and we had a great time dancing. The bathrooms were a very dirty and the floor was very wet but other than that it was a fun time. Well worth the drive! We live in Gilbert so don't get this way very often but we were craving the frozen cocktails and so excited to see they are still here after so many years. It was quiet early afternoon on a weekday so open seating. We sat on the patio best weather so we could people watch. So many great choices we started with a flight board and went with 151 Pina Colada, Jungle Juice fruit punch, Miami Vice and Bomb Pop. Everything was delicious! Great way to try different ones. For food, we went with the Cajun spice Shrimp Tacos and Hot Wings. We ordered extra crispy they were cooked just right. If I had one complaint the dressing was watered down but still tasted good. You get what you expect at a Fat Tuesdays! Fun/Mardi Gras vibe and decor, but definitely not always busy. The 190 octane require is my absolute go to every time, with the add shot because what other way would you start off a fun night on Mill Avenue?! Service is always been good - polite bouncers to check ID's, friendly bartenders, nice servers , and ample outdoor seating areas in the front and the back. This time we were actually responsible, and had food also (instead of just drinks). I got the Carnitas street tacos, and they were actually really tasty! I typically write yelps in a positive manner to support businesses and their employees who deserve a shout out but I woke up today still perplexed at the experience we had here last night. We were on a birthday crawl and experiencing Mill Avenue for the first time. Fat Tuesday was one of the spots that we stopped into. Security had absolutely no personality, didn't even speak to me when I said hello to him and clearly doesn't know anything about customer service. (You are the first and the last person Guests see at this business. Lose the attitude.) Then we walked in and went straight to the bar and proceeded to watch the bartender continue to have conversations with his guests as if we had never walked in. Please keep in mind, I've been in the service industry for over 30 years, so I understand exaggeration on wait times and when I tell you, we stood there for over 5 minutes in a dead bar waiting for a drink, it's no cap. Finally, right when we were getting irritated and about to leave, I saw him speak to another gentleman coming around the corner and point to us, so he knew that we were there. The "new guy" proceeds to tell us (3 bartenders) that a daiquiri is the same thing as a piña colada when my girl orders a daiquiri and gets a pina colada and completely ignores the guy in our party. He did compensate by giving our guy friend a complementary drink for his wait, but no matter how good the music was, this whole experience was crappy. For great frozen alcoholic drinks, fun, and dancing, you want to come here. Depending on what night you go, you will find amazing music and quick service. Beware that on the weekends it really gets busy as this place turns into a nightclub. They turn the music all the way up, and lines get longer, so I suggest getting there early. read more

The Peach Bellini or Mango slushies are the way to go! On the menu, they're "daiquiris". They don't put very much alcohol, so it's sweet and easy to drink. Very affordable too! Unlike the Vegas locations, you can't walk around downtown with these... so definitely take the time to come and hangout at the bar. They play 2000's RnB and Rap! We love all the ways to make a blended drink. We had the Mardi Gras Mash, mango/strawberry and peach bellini. They were all good and refreshing in their own way. Service on the other hand was less than stellar. We stood at the bar for quite awhile before we were waited on. Servers even walked by and didn't acknowledge. The music is always good. The waitresses are occasionally good at noticing when you sit down to take your order. The last time we went, we sat for 20 min and never had someone come over to see what we wanted. We ended up going to the bar and ordered our drinks and food with the bartender. He was veey good. The waitresses spent more time chatting in the corner and taping while working than paying attention to their customers. Our company would have been 40 years old on Aug 1st. I realized that no one had planned a celebration or reunion about 2 weeks before. I called Fat Tuesdays in Tempe as it was right next to our old headquarters. Jason the manager was happy to accommodate us. Olivia their party coordinator called me and we discussed the details. I brought down the decorations the night before. She went above and beyond in decorating with my stuff and even added extra balloons and decorations. We had our own dedicated bartender, Dominic and even 2 servers. We had no idea of how many were coming, which turned out to be about 150. Everyone raved about the party. I couldn't get in because I had no belt loops. Honestly, the business was lucky that I even wanted to walk in there and keep the lights on for another 30 minutes. Went over to handlebars no problem. I did not need belt loops on my shorts to get in. Some advice, you guys are not a busy bar. You should take all the customers that are willing to come buy drink before we realized the place is trash and leave. My favorite places in Tempe tend to be on Mill Ave. Sure, it has a reputation for only being for ASU students but that's not true. Everyone can come down here and have a great time! Fat Tuesday usually has a long line to get in, especially if you are arriving in the later hours. It's easy to see why it's so popular. The interior of the restaurant has a fun vibe and the crowd is chill. Pull up a chair at the bar and strike up a conversation with other patrons. Not many places like this still around, but Fat Tuesday is one of them. The daquiris are quite (in)famous here. They are big and colorful. To be honest? Only order them if you like super sugary drinks and not much alcohol. I didn't like it and switched to beer after (IPA!). I also had a different cocktail later that was well mixed. But for me, the daquiri was more of something for social media than a real adult beverage. The wings are excellent as are the fries. I've never had entrees here, but the burgers look excellent. All in all, Fat Tuesday is a solid choice for an evening out in Tempe! read more

My first meal in Arizona in 22 years started here. I used to live in the Mesa area while going to school back in the 90's. We had an overnight layover after vacationing in Mexico and decided to stop in Phoenix instead of Dallas. And when there is free time, it's all about the food! As I searched the Tempe area on Yelp, Fat Tuesday popped up. Looked at the menu and was sold as I love Southern food. Plus, they're located on infamous Mill Avenue, an area I wanted to show my spouse. ATMOSPHERE: ID was required to enter at dinner time. I thought they were a restaurant but they're more of a bar, so the absence of little ones was nice. Inside lighting was dim, with a mix of bar seats, low and high tops. Covered front patio seating looked onto Mill Ave. while rear patio seating sported backyard-style furniture and tables under colorful string lights. Daiquiri machines lined the back of bar. A live DJ spun and music pumped throughout the eatery. The vibe is young and fun. MENU: Southern-influenced bar-style apps, pasta, sandwiches, wraps, salads, burgers, desserts, daiquiris, beer, wine, sangria. BEVERAGE: Creamsicle Daiquiri - $9.00 (large) OMG, this was absolutely delish! After ordering my boring white wine, my spouse said to take a sip of the daiquiri. I immediately canceled the wine. I guess they're known for their cornucopia of flavors, apparent from the lengthy menu. The daiquiri was thick and icy, and tasted just like a creamsicle popsicle. Being dubbed with their 190 Octane moniker, it also included a bit of Everclear, oh yeah. Because we were having dinner elsewhere, I sadly only had one. FOOD: Alligator Nugs - $15.00 Yup, this was real alligator meat inside and it was really good. The texture was just as the server described - a mix between chicken and fish. The "nugs" were breaded, deep-fried and were insanely moist and tender. We opted for Cajun fries which had a nice kick to them. I preferred ranch dressing to their remoulade sauce for dipping. Highly recommended! Wings - $11.50 (10-pieces) The Cajun dry rub had a spice level of 3 on a 5-scale. While mostly savory, there was a bit of sweetness in the rub that I wish wasn't there, but, I finished all of it. The wings were cooked perfectly crispy with fairly juicy insides. A seriously great deal for normally pricey wings. Ranch and blue cheese dressings were tasty accompaniments. SERVICE: The bouncer checking ID's was friendly. It's seat yourself so we chose a table in the rear patio. Lexi was our server and greeted us shortly after sitting. I thought we wouldn't receive good service due to her young age but she was great. Completely ignored by the female staff. Never checked how our food was or fill our drinks. The two tables near us were checked on several times. It's not like we were out of the way... They had to walk past us to them. Then, I waited and waited for our bill. And waited and waited. All during the arts festival on a Friday. They weren't busy. And waited and waited.
