I've been to Crescent Ballroom a bunch of times for various shows over the years. Guess I never reviewed it. I can only speak to it as a bar & music venue, not sure if they have food items. It's a great, small intimate space to see an artist you know well or discover something new. Last time we were there was to see one of our favorites, Black Pistol Fire, this past spring. We love that band and have seen them perform many times, we were happy they played at crescent. They have such great energy during shows and the lead singer always gets into the crowd, last time he went over to the back bar and played guitar on it. Was pretty awesome! This recent time we went to see rapper Intuition from LA. He was opening for Wax & Dj Hoppa. They were new to me, but it was a great hip hop show. Generally the sound is good in the venue and they have a bar up front with some seating. Behind the curtain where the stage is, there's a bar back too. There are also bleachers but I usually don't sit on them, but they are there if needed. Cocktails are like regular bar prices, and good thing, they are quality drinks. I had the whiskey sour and old fashioned. Both were very good with quality spirits. At $16, they should be good and not some afterthought cocktail. They also have beers on tap for like $8. Went for the first time as Sons of Legion were in town playing there. It's a small (sold out at 550), cozy venue. Clean, well maintained and nicely decorated. It's mostly standing room only with a few bleacher type seating options. I'm getting old, so standing the entire time has me thinking Celebrity Theater is the better venue for me. But, if you're good with standing it's a nice experience. Parking deck is conveniently located across the street and reasonably priced, the area is well lit and they have a full bar. read more

Best small venue for live music in Phoenix. Good sound, everywhere is close to the stage& bands seem to like playing here.

Fun little venue! Had been here once nearly a decade ago and hadn't been back until tonight and really enjoyed it! Bar has a nice selection, plenty of events here and the sound was good! Terrible experience at this particular venue! I was at the Haute & Freddy Show last night. Online, it said that guests without a ticket can still sit on the patio and lounge. I get really sleepy and didn't want to risk falling asleep on the road on my way back to Tucson after the show, so, I thought great! My husband can drive me and he'll just wait in the lounge until the show is over. They would not follow what their website mentioned, and would not let him sit on the porch or lounge. It was deadly temperatures outside! Absolutely disgusting that you guys wouldn't allow it, after we had already paid for overpriced parking. Secondly, I felt the old lady at the podium, once you got inside the doors was singling me out and picking on me. I barely walked through the door and she's telling me not to block the entrance. How am I blocking the entrance when I literally just walked through? Then, after I was inside the venue and leaving the merch booth, she's all hollering at me (and me ONLY) that she needs to see my wrist band. Like how the hell do you think I got through the front security/door, and the second entrance before the curtain you numpty!? Of course I have a wristband! Unbelievable. read more

Love the intimate vibe. Great venue to enjoy artists up close. Nice location as well with convenient parking close by.

It's fun here, lots to park in and street parking all around. The bartender at front beer is super cool and friendly. The bartender in the back where the shows happen is cool and friendly too. The waitress in the front room, the restaurant is also very nice and friendly. I'm like the ambience, it's a dim low light speakeasy type vibe. The soundtrack was so good, all old school punk music, talking heads, roxette and some 80's too. We saw a candlelight show in the back and it was awesome. The seating layout was cool and the big stage was easy to see from everywhere. We sat in the bleachers and could see great. Bring a cushion so your booty is happy. Def visit the crescent when you're downtown. It also has outdoor patio and dogs may be allowed out there, so great place to stop in for a bev on a late night stroll ! read more

Went with my girlfriend to enjoy the moth performances, so good! What a cool kind group of people, super encouraging and supportive environment of Simply good people! We were surprisingly impressed by the food, I'm not a burrito person but the steak burrito was great. It was a little spicy with the peppers so I would do without that next time if that's an option and the dipping sauces that came with were two spicy for us. Would love a mild option but otherwise no complaints! Will definitely be back! read more

Security is a bummer. Been to over a hundred shows at this place and not stoked on last encounter.

The staff was incredibly nice and friendly. The atmosphere and ambiance were so fun, with a rustic charm. We saw Satsang and had an absolute blast. It's a great venue, not so big that you get lost in the crowd or lose your view, but not so small that you feel like the only ones in the room. One of my favorite venues in Phoenix! read more

The good was 7 years ago when the staff was friendly. 7 years ago your small town bands would be a sell out, and the staff had something to with that. Today, well it's a different story. Our small town favorites aren't selling out at the ballroom anymore. Has nothing to do with the cost of the ticket either! I've been to the crescent 3 times in the last 4 weeks. Seems like the staff has way to much power as how they handle the guests! The intimate venue is lost, and it's because of the staff/management. Have your manager find another venue where the staff is overinflated with estrogen and testosterone. read more

Good food and nice staff! I've been a few times for some concerts here and their thrift markets that they used to host and I enjoyed it! The venue itself is smaller and more intimate in spacing at times if anything but super well maintained and clean! The patio is superb as well and such a unique place! The shows they do here are always well managed and the have fun artists all the time! I totally recommend checking it out for a show or the food itself! read more

THEY GOT RID OF THE RESTAURANT BASICALLY AND I WAS SO MAD BUT TODAY I FOUND OUT THEY TURNED THEIR ORIGINAL COCINA 10 RESTAURANT INTO A NEW RESTAURANT DOWN THE STREET. Attached to Cornish and valley bar is CONDESA!!!!!!! It's the exact menu from cocina10 @crecent ballroom. Thank god!!!! I was really really super sad they stopped serving food. They sometimes serve food during the concerts they have but I never know if it's open or not. So Condesa is my new fav place and I will be going to Condesa often! This is my favorite place to see a concert. Hands.Down. But, for whatever reason, they decided to no longer serve food inside. They also leave people standing outside instead of letting them in to have a drink. I will continue to come here for the live music, but I no longer have any desire to plan an evening around this place. Dumb way to do business. read more

3 GA tickets in my Ticketmaster app, complete with barcodes. One ticket was purchased from stubhub but immediately available. Every concert I've been to lately is really fussy about the scanning, can't be a screenshot anymore... tell me why this busted off venue had a print out on paper. Shady af and so RUDE and lowkey ugly about their janky system. Hate this place never going back. Your Ticketmaster barcodes don't matter when they have a printed ticket list from 1999. Bleh can't say enough about it. Ps the concert was sold out hence buying the 3rd ticket on Stubhub for 100 dollars. But then sold us a ga sticker at the door for 40. Make it make sense. Enjoyed the concert, all the staff was extremely polite except Julie (older woman, in case she gave a fake name). She was easily the rudest and least understanding employee I've ever interacted with. From the moment we walked in to the second we walked out she was barking orders and being unpleasant toward my entire group without any justification. I've been to Crescent Ballroom a couple of times and I've always had a great experience. Their food is normally pretty good but today for some reason it wasn't as good as it normally is. I got their carne asada, chicken tinga, and chicken aspon tacos and they were decent but my girlfriend's quesadilla was burnt and pretty flavorless. I think in general this place is really only good for tacos but today wasn't that great. Also we ordered some drinks as well and there was barely any alcohol in them. If you're gonna charge 14 dollars a drink, I want my full shot in there. The staff are decent and the place is pretty cool because they have a concerts in the back so if you're ever feeling like dinner and a concert after, you can do it. Pretty decent date spot. I'll come back again because I've had good experiences in the past but unfortunately today was just not up to par. read more

October 2024, my husband and I got to have date night at the amazing Joywave concert, courtesy of KWSS! My first experience at this place, and I loved it! The show was sold out, but getting in was simple. We parked a couple blocks away near The Vig, as we weren't sure where their parking was. Tickets scanned, we were in. Grabbed a bite & drinks before the show, as they have an awesome vegan selection, and I was impressed. The prices were fair, and the drinks were strong! We sat right away, chips & salsa were tasty, server was friendly and knowledgable about the menu, and the show was incredible. Although the inside of the concert space was tight, and we were shoulder to shoulder, there were bleacher-type seats in the back; get there early to secure. The artists were really close, so it made for a more intimate feel, which was amazing! I will keep my eyes out for future shows here, as this was a vibe for sure ;) read more

I've been to many shows here, ranging from jazz to punk to luchadore. I love the interior with the bleacher seating so you have the option to sit down. The food inside at Cucina 10 is delicious as well. Really a one stop shop for your night. The prices on drinks are bar typical, not concert venue typical! Staff is always friendly and respectful. It was my first time here and I thought it was a really great venue to see a show. It is smallish but it seemed pretty organized. I had bought tickets online and they checked us in by name. No ticket needed. We did not eat here but I hear they do have food. I thought the sound inside was amazing. Standing to watch the show was less an issue than standing waiting for the show to start and in-between acts. I only used the men's bathroom up front and to my dismay it was a single bathroom. Hopefully the bathrooms in back had better accessibility for more people given the crowds and drinking. read more

This was my first time at Crescent for a concert - I had attended the random trivia night years ago, but I was pleased with it as a show venue! Crescent runs like a well oiled machine - you get through the line quickly, get your wrist band, and you're inside. You can see the staff everywhere - cleaning up, delivering food, security for the show, etc. The venue itself is small and intimate, but doesn't feel too tight. Lines for drinks and bathrooms were never long. I will say that the bathroom could use some love pretty early on in the night (not enough toilet paper, wet floor, etc), but that's pretty common during concerts. I have another show I am attending there next month and I'm definitely looking forward to returning! read more

I've had the opportunity to watch a handful of concerts here, the most recent being Caloncho and Kimbra (separate concerts, both this month). I love the intimacy of this venue and the fact that despite its smaller size, they still put an effort in providing solid audio and lighting for the shows. Some things to note for first time visitor: -most (if not all) concerts are 21+ -This is a standing room, so bring some comfy shoes and be prepared to stand for a couple hours ^^there are bleachers in the back which are usually sold for a higher price, and if you get this, you should aim to sit in the top two rows. Otherwise, you'll only have the perfect view of the back of hundreds of heads. So yeah, if you ever see that an artist you love is coming or see that they are hosting a cool event - I highly encourage you to go. But don't forget... comfy shoes read more

There's live music on the patio, then you have the restaurant/bar area, and alas... The crescent ballroom. A quaint room big enough to host concerts and other musical events. My visit was back on Oct of 2021. I'm from LA and I found myself here due to a mistake. I was on my way to see Arlo Parks perform in L.A. I was waiting until the last min to get the cheapest price on tickets. While driving I saw a price I liked and hit the buy button. I get to Echoplex and realized the ticket date was wrong. Time expired to buy tix for the LA show so what I clicked was for tix to see her in Phoenix!!! Just so happens a friend just had a baby who lived in Mesa so I hopped a plane next day to see Arlo perform and to see the baby. I thought this was an awesome venue to see a concert. Anywhere you stood was a good spot. Had no issue with long lines to grab a refreshing beverage. It's also a restaurant but I didn't get a chance to try the food because I was there to eat. Overall if I were an up and coming performer seeking 200-300 capacity place to play my gig, this would be the go-to venue in Phoenix read more

They have general disco and Britney nights but I saw Michelle branch there and was planning to see sookie Waterhouse but I missed it. They also have great Vegan Potato tacos and wonderful Vegan burritos that are griddled so they are toasty and perfect!! They have Vegan Queso, we could go on and on. What can I say? Crescent's food is really good. The staff is also super kind and not too clingy. Seating situation is great. There are outside tables, inside tables, and plenty of places with misters in the summer and heaters in the winter. The food is comforting, fairly priced and great portions. The drinks are always unique and the beer is always changing. A great place for a date night or just something to do - this is downtown Phoenix's best place for a hang out. Went tonight for the Paper kites concert, nice cozy and hipster to the place. The food was top notch plenty to eat with the I-10 nachos and the dip they gave for the fried was so good with a nice hint of spice, the bartenders were very kind and informative. Although one complaint to be had was it seemed like they had only one server for a very busy night, the poor girl seemed very stressed and was running from table to table. It almost made me downgrade to 4 star but as this was my first time I want to give them the benefit of the doubt maybe someone called off, if your ok with a bit of a wait I recommend this place read more

Maybe people have had some nice experiences here because they were likely seeing bands or artists they liked. Perhaps the food is even good if you have the time or there aren't so many people. That being said, I am joining what is clearly an ongoing list of complaints against security. The night I was there they were clearly on a series of power trips. This is common from looking at other reviews. We got told we couldn't go through an open exit that everyone was leaving out. When we asked why the guy immediately called for back up because he was so scared of one guy and one girl. He escalated the situation from the start and wanted to kick us out even though we were leaving the concert anyway. I've never seen someone in their 20's think they can push whoever they want around like this. I was able to contact Crescent about my concerns, but they were quick to defend themselves and ask me what I was going to do about it. Of course there isn't a whole lot to do other than never go here again. Moral of the story, don't be surprised if your night gets ruined because of some loser security guard with bad facial hair and no plans for the weekend. I'm glad to say this experience was a while ago and we have not gone back. read more

First time here and the food was amazing. We sat outside on the upstairs patio. It wasn't hot and there was misters and fan. Our table was in the right spot so the light breeze from the fans and misters wasn't overwhelming. The bartenders were friendly and gave great suggestions when it came to food. The only thing I didn't care for is if you decide to sit on the upstairs patio, we would have to get up and go downstairs to wait in line at the bar to get another drink or order more food since there wasn't a server to come to your table.
