Ok so my experience was something that I'd never wish on my worst enemy. Ok so it may sound a little dramatic but I'm being honest. Sun devil auto is not honest and doesn't know the first thing about integrity and customer service Whatever you do avoid taking your car for any service at Sun Devil Auto unless you want more things wrong with your car than when you originally brought it in. When you have a car issue you can't put it off, so when I took my car in to get my brake pads changed I got my car back with the Ac out the electric windows not working and engine light on so when I called them back they instead of saying bring it back in and well take a look they basically said that it was probably something wrong w my engine and that it may be time for my Ac to be replaced. Wow I'm used to up sells w mechanics like oil change needed, tires or something that needs to be adjusted but they didn't say anything during the time my brake pads were getting changed. Ok so I take it back and they didn't apologize for the inconvenience finally got my electric windows to roll down, except an attitude and a quote. The manager was no help. They really tried to take advantage of me and had the worst attitudes. I felt I was prayed on. So I took it to another mechanic and he said not only were my break pads never replaced and if they were he said it'd be with used ones he said my Ac was fine engine fine and that it was a fuse or something I can't quite remember all I know is he saved me from paying thousands. So this was a few years ago but I've never had an experience like this. Talk about crooks. Obviously I've told people when this happened and a friend of mine had a problem with them too she took it in for one thing and then a few days later she was driving and her starter went out. Maybe they should take out the sun of their name and just call it Devil auto. Anyway avoiding this place will not only help you avoid more problems and spending unnecessary money and you won't have to deal with con-artists. Hopefully the management mechanics have been replaced. Lesson learned get a second opinion read reviews before you get into a mess. :( read more

Welp, another opinion is worth $1000 bucks. Took my car in for AC problems and was told that the charge would be $900.00. I was told that I needed a new compressor. I smiled and walked out because I had just recently had a new compressor and radiator installed. After going to another repair shop, I found out that the problem was an electrical problem. Had I not known, I would have paid big bucks for something I didn't need, and on top of that had would have paid and my problem not be fixed. Granted I am still running without any AC in my truck, but I certainly now know its not what they said it was. More than bad customer service is dishonesty. And to top it off when I took my truck for the second opinion, I was told that the oil filter was leaking. Guess where I got my oil change. Take out the words Sun and Auto, and you have who I consider this place to from. read more

I had new tires mounted and balanced. I got charged $10 for each new valve stem (4). I can buy a pack of 4 for $5. It took 6 hours to do this, they made sure to call to tell me I needed new front brakes and could do that while the tires were off. I passed on that, as I put on new front brakes less than a year before. I also checked my brakes later that day, about 70% left. They did not bother to call me to tell me they finished working on my truck. When I got my truck, the tires were inflated to 35 lbs. It says right on the tires 50lb. I had chrome rims, they mounted the weights to the front, while I told them to use tape on weights on the inside. Its my fault, I should have taken my truck to a place that only does tires. They also charged me a disposal fee, when I took my old tires back. They just nickel-n-dimed me, and took no pride in their sub par workmanship. read more

I always enter any car service situation with a certain degree of skepticism. It wouldn't be too difficult for a shop to take advantage of people who don't have an extensive knowledge about cars (and its not uncommon to hear of such situations)! But since I first tried them out, I've felt comfortable bringing my business to SunDevil several more times. I initially chose them because of their hours. Love that they open at 7 and that you can generally get in and out quickly if you get there when they open. The fact that they'll shuttle you to a nearby location if you dont want to wait in shop for the car is great, too! The employees are professional and knowledgeable, but they're NOT pushy. I've done additional research and/or gotten second opinions on the few services they've recommended for my 1997 car and those second opinions have always aligned with what SunDevil reccommends. They are family owed and those values definitely come through in the service provided. Appreciate the honesty and no-BS! GREAT customer service! The guys took care of my car quickly and efficiently! Went in for an oil change which included a tire rotation. Found out I needed brakes! Didn't mind showing me the brakes I needed replacing and helped me set an appointment to get it done as soon as possible! I highly recommend this place! read more

Very very dishonest, spent $900+ to replace oil pump and $1900+ to replace radiator/timing belt/water pump. after less than a week oil pressure light comes on, went back they said the switch that they replaced must have been faulty, they said they gonna take care of it, few days after "taking care of it" oil pressure light comes on again, went back again the oil pressure switch was bad according to Chuck. After replacing the radiator the AC stopped working, went back to recharge it Chuck tells me the condenser is leaking and needs to be replaced which was going to cost me $700, went to a Meineke for e second opinion they told me that there is no leak it only needs to be recharged. And the funniest thing is that after "fixing" the oil pump and radiator issue, I come to find out that my engine oil leaks in to the cooling system, Did not bother to call them back it only pisses you off more because they always have an answer for everything! BBB accreditation does not mean anything, I filed a complaint with them nothing happened they were just a middle man forwarding responses back and forth If you have money to throw away and want to still have issues with your car take it Sun Devil Auto that's the only thing they're good for! I'd rather google the issue and try to fix it myself than take it to them. read more

I gave one star only because I could not give a negative number. I had come in with my son to have his car fixed and heard the manager yelling at a customer on the phone. He was so loud that it was difficult to talk to the gentleman that was helping me at the counter. I was shocked that he would talk the way he was to the customer using many curse words and certainly not customer friendly. What I found to be even worse is that he was doing this in front of another customer. Maybe he thought that by acting tough he was impressing me as a good manager, but I found it to be disrespectful to me and the other customer on the phone. I felt very uncomfortable doing business with this person because of his attitude. I felt that he might be like the typical "mechanic shops" that are out to rip you off and tell you to spend money on things that were not needed. I can't say that he would have done that because I didn't allow him to do the work on my son's car. I have to say that this is not the customer service that I receive at all Sun Devil Autos. I have gone to other shops and had wonderful experiences. I have had dealings with Matt, Austin and Dan who have been excellent! If I have Sun Devil work on my cars, I will make the trip to Scottsdale before taking my car back to the shop in Mesa. I felt that they treated me right and were very professional. I also felt that I could trust their services to be done right (which they have not proven me wrong). read more

I hadn't been to this shop before, but my car needed an oil change, and I had located a coupon in the newspaper. Plus, this location is super-convenient to where I live. I stopped by on Monday, but they were busy, so I made an appointment for the following morning. They got my car right in when I arrived and about an hour later, they had lubed the chassis, changed the oil, rotated the tires, and done a thorough inspection - all for a very reasonable price. Barry and Chris are helpful and knowledgeable, and gave me a good estimate on some additional work my car needs. I'll certainly bring my car here again! read more
