When I first came here in October 2024, I had a good experience. When I had to come back in January 2025, it was still good, but I started becoming concerned. Now I am back here(April 2025) being charged $2,100. While everyone is professional, my concerns are centered on WHY issues are still coming back to my car and WHY these issues are not being caught when the technicians are looking at my vehicle. I was an appreciative customer, until I felt like I was being used. I would have respected this auto shop if they would have told me as a consumer that when they do diagnostics, it is different from a 52-point inspection. Obsandper Opinion: Observation Pro's: Shop was clean, office staff was polite, staff supports eachother, stands behind the work they do, will answer any questions you may have, and are good at problems . Observation Con's: They were not thorough with the actual problem and they upsell on services that may not be needed. The mechanic was dismissive but lacked knowlege on preventative measures. Personal: I feel taken advantage of... I WAS CHARGED A TOTAL OF $4551.34 and at the time my vehicle STILL UNDER WARRENTY + Less than 1 year from purchase date. I am currently trying to get them to submit these claims for reimbursement from maxcare (My warrenty), but they got their money so I am waiting. I left with more unrelated or preventable problems than when I arrived. Visit #1 was because of the parking break, check engine, and (!) were flashing; Visit #2 "same"+ air blowing hot (SINCE I GOT IT BACK); VISIT #3 TOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE and they found a hole in the condenser. VISIT #4 SAME PROBLEM AS 1ST VISIT + towed to dealership for a manufacturers code (that was most likely present in February) (Or at the least should have been caught during the thorough diagnostic, in March, on the second visit) Can someone break down what I paid your machanic $1548.47 for if he wasnt going to be thorough? How much more would it have cost? The actual problem is "SOMETHING THEY DON'T NORMALLY LOOK FOR". Called on Saturday morning, to come in same day for an oil change, wAs told bring it on in wait time 1-1.5 hrs. Had a39.99$ special for oil, I guess 5q, but my car needed 6 q.. so still ended up being just over 50$. Man greeted us right away was friendly, they have waiting area available, but we drove home and they called when finished it only took 1-1.5 hrs. Avoid this shop at all costs. I would give 0 stars if it were possible. I brought my car in for a check engine light and an oil change. They told me my turbo was failing. I get that. The price was outside of my budget so I chose to take the car home with me for now. I get my keys and my car isn't responding, not unlocking, not starting, NOTHING. I give my keys back and they tell me I have a bad battery. One I had installed BRAND NEW not even a month ago. How they could kill a battery within the 48 hours they had my car is beyond me. I'm extremely upset and frustrated that I paid $260 ish just for me to have to go get another brand new battery. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION!! read more

Even for a car repair shop, Sun Devil Auto is extremely dishonest about what's "wrong" with your car. I went in because my battery was almost dead, and my tires were not filling to their PSI. They offered a battery replacement and stated that all four tires had dry rot and needed replacing. That sounded suspicious to me. Thankfully, I had a warranty with Firestone. So, while I paid for my battery (also too much BTW at almost $300 without even offering me warranty), I went to Firestone for my tires. They told me my tires did not show dry rot and that I was likely just using a broken gas station pump. He filled my tires, and now they're fine. I understand auto shops will try to get as much money out of you as possible, but blatantly lying to try and get $600 out of a customer is really crossing a line. Not to mention that the last time I was there for a simple oil change, I received a condition report stating I had a ton of things wrong with my car; yet today, my condition report stated all that stuff was fine. What changed? Please avoid this carelessly unethical and overly expensive shop. read more

We contacted Sun Devil Auto on 9/9 when our regular auto shop was booked and I needed an oil change before a road trip. We have gone to them a couple other times in the past since they are so close to our home and had great service before as well. They allowed us to drop off the car 9/9 at closing and locked it up for the night. Did the oil change, along with a pretty in depth check of the car the next morning. Everyone was EXTREMELY nice and helpful - explained what they saw - told us what was necessary and what could wait to be done. Only charged us for the oil change. I think this is now our regular shop! I felt 100% at ease and trusted them completely. I highly recommend this shop if you are in the Mesa/Gilbert area! read more

I went to Sun Devil with an appointment and I worked with Chris who was AMAZING and super helpful/honest. Unfortunately despite trusting this shop for YEARS, they without a doubt practiced some scammy dishonesty with my car. I had taken it in for a safety check a month prior to an oil change- they gave the car a clean bill of health. A month later for an oil change they tell me 'the back end of my frame' was 'twisted like a pretzel'. MAYBE someone hit me parked on the side of a road- except there's ZERO back end body damage ZERO. The cashier giggled and reminded me it was a good car and 'worth the $4000' in repairs needed ... LOL. They CLEARLY are at fault and are OBVIOUSLY the reason for the damage but will NOT admit it. My vehicle battery (which I had replaced here a few months ago and was under warranty) had to be replaced yesterday (it went dead and wasn't holding a charge). I brought it in and the work was done within an hour at no charge. 6 months ago these guys earned my business by taking my car last minute on a Friday morning and turning around the repair in less than 5 hours to get me back on the road when I had an emergency situation. Since then I've had the car in for repairs 4 times and they have been nothing but fair and fast every time, including diagnosing a complicated electronics problem and replacing my brake rotors and pads for free when they were under warranty. This is not a business it's a scam. I purchased a battery from sun devil auto with a warranty for my 2013 Cadillac ATS. Within 2 years my battery needed to be replaced. Sun devil auto is charging me $130 in labor for something that takes 20 minutes to do! The Cadillac dealership charges $49. They don't price match either. Last time I'm coming here for service! Also Sean in the office refused to replace the battery because my driver side window is cracked and it poses a "safety hazard" to his employees... even though it was cracked when they put my original battery in! My serpentine belt broke today, thank God it was in the parking lot of a restaurant and they let me wait inside for almost three hours for the tow truck. Insurance chose the auto shop. Brought my car back to Sun Devil Auto for a replacement of a battery that was under warranty. Dropped it off at 9:00 am on Wednesday. I was told a few hours. I called at 2:30 pm on Thursday to see if my car was done. It was they just forgot to call me. I dropped my truck off to get its oil changed and to have the AC checked out. I got a call a couple hours later with the quote to fix my AC, I was quoted $1800. I told them I was going to pass on the AC and that I wanted some other opinions. When I arrived to pay for the oil change and receive my truck, I asked if they could tell me exactly what was wrong with the AC. Casey's response was "I don't know exactly what is wrong with it but I can run a diagnostics test to find out. It would be an extra $100" so you're telling me you can quote me $1800 to "fix" my AC but you cannot even tell me what is wrong with it? How can this company quote $1800 to fix my AC and not even give me a reason as to why it would be so expensive? THEY ALSO HAVE A FREE AC CHECK PAINTED OUTSIDE ONE OF THEIR WINDOWS. Had a negative experience here. My boyfriend and I dropped off my car for an oil change at 12 pm. We received a call around 4pm saying it was ready for pick up. When we drove the car home, my boyfriend noticed that they did not change the old previous oil filter (which immediately gave us a red flag.) He called to ask what type of filters were used here before we made any assumptions. The manager said all valvoline products are used here. My boyfriend explained he just picked up his car from an oil change from this location but believes service was NOT completed because the oil filter (FRAM) was not replaced. The manager apologized asking him to come in. Upon arrival, he explained that there was miscommunication between the technicians when the two workers switched shifts (which is hard for us to believe). He explained that we would get our oil change before the shop closed. I do not see myself coming back here or would I recommend this place. The workers here have no integrity whatsoever and look unhappy with work. I even heard the technician cursing when he saw our car back in the lot. You cannot trust this place. The manager gave us a coupon for free oil change service in the future, which I do appreciate, but this will not make up for the inconvenience. They have a "statement of integrity" posted on the front desk but did not uphold to these values... This location was perfect for us because we lived so close but now I will have to look for car services elsewhere. read more

I've been to other shops around the valley where they have tried getting more money out of a stop, or where they haven't complied with my requests. This place is not like that. I received great service, in a timely manner (finished under an hour - on a SATURDAY).
