Came here on a weekend and wow--it was packed, which is always a good sign. Parking took a bit of patience since the main lot fills up quickly (I heard there's free parking near City Hall, but we lucked out and grabbed a spot after a few loops). There are so many food options in the area, but I'm really glad I chose Sumo Dog. The service was friendly and surprisingly quick given the crowd, which I definitely appreciated. I ordered the Miso Katsu hot dog and it delivered on flavor. It's one of those bites where everything just works, savory, a little rich, and super satisfying. You can tell they put thought into balancing the flavors. Also love that they offer a vegan hot dog option, which makes it easy for different dietary preferences. There's so many spaces to sit and eat and they had live music because it was the weekend. Bonus: they had a deal going on, so I ended up getting a side and a soda for free--always a win. Straight to the point, I didn't enjoy my meal. This feels like a spot where you'd buy a "Here Kiddo" meal for your child when you don't want to spend more over $10. The service is negligible, they took my order and they delivered at reasonable time. They answered any questions I may have and weren't rude. I ordered the chicken kastu sando as it was apart of their daily special (Each day is a shared discount of all hot dogs or sandwiches). The chicken breast I ate was bland and hard to chew, I tasted more of the sauce than the meat itself. The pivot that saves my impression of the sandwich is that it was edible. Maybe if I had tried the hot dog, I would've had a better experience but for now I was left unsatisfied. The french fries were just fries, no seasoning nor flavor at all. I could've ate my fries with ketchup but at that point I would just be eating ketchup. The way the fries were cooked feels like they could've spent more time in the frier because it was just barely warm enough to not be cold. I ended up eating maybe near half of them and didn't want to eat the rest. I saved my coke cola drink for later as I wanted to save my sweet tooth for something else that would save my trip of heading here to leave me satisfied. The dining area is a shared area within the ahaheim packing district, so table and seating are non-issue. Overall, if you're looking to save some money because you have a kid to feed, this is a decent recommendation. Besides that, there are better vendors within the packing district. read more

Came here to visit as we wanted to visit Anaheim Packing District again. Wandered around and came across this little gem in it. They look to have various daily specials and on the Sat I went they had a sumo dog with fries for under $15. Food is made to order...fresh and good. If I am being picky maybe a little more crispiness to the fries, but overall really tasty and enjoyable. They have impossible dogs too for those not wNting meat. I'd mos def recommend this spot! Interesting concept. Sumo Dog is inside the Anaheim Packing District food court. It's a Japanese-inspired hot dog/fries/tots eatery. What intrigued me was their sushi rice tots. We all have had tater tots before, but sushi rice tots? I got to try it. I ordered that sumo style, which adds chili, sauce and some cheese over it. Highly recommend it! The tots came out nice and crispy and the insides is softer than a regular tater tot. It's almost like eating the rice of crispy tuna roll! Service is great. We stopped by the Anaheim Packing district and accidentally attended the grand opening of Sumo Dog. I was seriously impressed. I had the Banh Mi Dog and my sister had the Chicago Dog--both were fantastic. The Banh Mi Dog was bursting with bold, tangy flavors and a nice kick, while the Chicago Dog nailed the classic taste with a fun twist. Super fresh and flavorful. The sushi rice tots were another standout, crispy on the outside, soft and sticky inside, and seriously addictive. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, which made the whole experience even better. You could feel the excitement and pride they had in launching the place. Especially named Sumo Dog. Menu was not just dogs but hamburgers too done the Sumo way..Japanese styles. I decided to try the standard chili cheese dog and the miso dog.. the chili cheese had some kick to it and the miso dog was fried and breaded. Cut in half and covered with miso mustard scallions and over toppings. Kind of over powered the dog. I liked the katsu style Sumo did. Alright where do I start? Because I keep going back over and over and I'm close to trying their entire menu! Wow- it's that good!!! So far I've enjoyed everything but my favorites are the banh mi burger and hotdog, katsu dog, and the Godzilla dog! Their melted cheese is sooo good so anything that has it is awesome. The side of tots or the side of sushi rice tots are delish! Can't say enough good things about the food here. Staff is friendly and takes the time to explain the menu if you have questions.
