Some restaurants become special because of the food. Others become special because of the memories you make there. Exactly one year ago, I met my girlfriend at Centrico for our very first date. So for our one-year anniversary, it only felt right to come back to where it all began. From the moment we sat down, our server Avelino made the evening feel incredibly authentic. We ended up learning he'd been with the restaurant group for 14 years, starting at Tortilla Jo's from opening day until it closed before transferring to Centrico. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and it showed in every recommendation he made. He suggested starting with the chips and guacamole, and wow... that guacamole deserves some recognition. It had a bright citrus flavor with the perfect balance of smooth avocado and chunky tomatoes. Easily one of the top 10 guacamoles I've had. For drinks, we ordered the Frozen Mangonada and the Tepache, and they couldn't have complemented each other better. The mangonada was loaded with authentic mango flavor, chamoy, and Tajín. It almost felt more like a dessert than a drink. The tepache, on the other hand, was light, crisp, and incredibly refreshing. Together they covered both ends of the spectrum perfectly. For dinner we shared the Quesopastor and a Caesar Salad. The quesopastor was packed with flavorful meat and was surprisingly filling, while the Caesar salad balanced everything out nicely. Before we left, Avelino even took the time to recommend a few other restaurants for future date nights if we wanted to keep exploring. That kind of genuine hospitality is becoming harder and harder to find. Coming back to the restaurant where our story started made for an unforgettable anniversary. Had a reservation for 6:30 pm yesterday - got there, walked up to the seating hostess and she completely ignored me while she was laughing and having a conversation about birthdays with someone at the desk. Finally was able to get her attention, told her my name and she tapped away on the iPad - she then literally said nothing else to me, grabbed some menus and called another party over for their reservation. When she came back I was like uh so are we checked in for our reservation? She asked me what the last name was (again I had already given her the information prior) and she said yea you're checked in, go wait in the line to your left and we'll call you. The line was HUGE and it was already 6:40 pm - we waited in line for another 5 minutes and I went back up and asked how much longer the wait would be for the table we had made a reservation for at 6:30 and she told me that there were other people who had checked in prior to us and that it would be around 15-20 mins. What the hell is the point of making a reservation for 6:30 pm if you aren't going to seat that party until around 7 pm?? Completely unprofessional and the seating hostess was rude as hell. Average to subpar Mexican food especially for Southern California - though conveniently located in downtown Disney. Beautiful setting with outdoor seating and friendly service. There is certainly far better food and prices inside the Disney parks. Perhaps especially disappointed given the hype online and advertising of the association with Chef Carlos. The shrimp aguachile and tuna tiradito were fine though not well balanced and with some overwhelming flavoring that didn't allow the taste of the fish to come through or resemble the listed intended flavors/ ingredients. The shrimp aguachile sauce was heavy and could not taste any of the listed yuzu lime flavors, and the tuna tiradito was overly sweet. Perhaps most egregiously, the menu notes that both dishes use "chile toreados" but, as pictured, the dishes include pickled jalapeños that look like they come directly from a can. The cochinita pibil tacos were unfortunately dry without authentic flavor. For beverages, the Mezcalita and Tropical Breeze were tasty and overall balanced though nothing standout. read more

We were expecting some good food at downtown Disney but it was a disappointment. We tried their 1) avocado flatbread: portion is tiny for $18. And the bread was so hard to chew that my jaw hurt afterwards 2) fish taco: they were ok. Sauce is ok, I honestly thought California fish grill taco tasted better, which shouldn't be with the price point. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back to downtown Disney to dine in. This was a great meal! Ribeye tacos were so flavorful and filling. Could not get our hands off the bottomless salsa. Mangonada was so refreshing on a hot day. Tuna tiradito was also refreshing and tart. Was not a big fan of the carne asada tacos, though. The tortillas were very soft and yummy, but the beef was a bit dry. Server was so sweet and knowledgeable of the menu. Kind of wish this could be an indoor restaurant for a bit more privacy from the Downtown Disney crowd, but it was still a comfortable experience. We came here in search of non-park food and we were blown away. Firstly, the staff and service is impeccable. Our waiter was swamped with a huge table but still made a point to check in on us throughout our meal. Secondly, this restaurant is placed in the middle of a very busy area of downtown Disney but you could never tell as it doesn't get too loud. Finally, and most importantly, the food was incredible. My wife ordered the quesachicken which was absolutely packed with chicken. I ordered the quesabirrias and it was so refreshing to see it made with lamb. We ordered some guacamole and me and the wife each ordered 3 tacos: her beef, me fish. Plus, we got a chicken quesadilla for our son. Add in 3 fountain drinks to cap it off. The guac was solid, the tacos were... fine. The bill comes and it's $106.67 before tip. If not at Disney, that's about a $35 meal. Before the bill came, I was thinking it was probably about a 4-star meal, but even writing it now, I'm thinking it might be more like 2-stars given what I paid. I get that Downtown Disney rent much be obscene, but good lord. I guess I'll split the difference at 3-stars and just advise my fellow Yelpers to eat something on the go in the parks because it's not worth paying even more here. read more

Centrico is one of our favorite Downtown Disney restaurants. After a long day at Disneyland what a joy to eat here on Saturday evening. Of course we always make reservations as this place is always packed with people waiting in lines. We were promptly greeted by our server Arturo. He took our drink order which came fairly quickly for such a crowded place. He was so friendly and gave us just the right amount of attention. He came by to take our order, but we hadn't quite decided. He said take your time, yet he didn't forget about us. With in 8-10 minutes he checked on us again. I ordered the BURRITO NORTEÑO. Arturo said that was an excellent choice. It was heavenly!! It was the perfect combination of meat, beans, cheeses and rice....plus all the other delicious high quality ingredients that were added. The meat was so tender and flavorful. The portion was large. It could easily feed two people. I'm so happy I have leftovers. Others at the table got the fish tacos and the rib eye tacos. They said they were both good. They liked the fish tacos the best. My husband ordered the taquitos. He said they were just ok. Arturo was the best server. He would come to check on us to see how the food was, do we need more drinks and then boxes to go. I asked if I could get some of the red sauce to go and he quickly returned with a nice sized Tupperware of it. He was wonderful!! Went here for the first time on a Sunday after a Disney day. Sat at the bar where there were a few chairs available (long line for folks to get a table and no reservations available for hours). Soon after sitting we were greeted by the bartenders and given water. We were also given a drink menu, but I had to ask for a food menu. After perusing, we ordered: - Ancient Old Fashioned: Well balanced and tasty. Smooth. It would have benefited from a single large ice cube instead of standard ice cubes. - House red: I think this was a Merlot, but I'm not confident. It was smooth and easy to drink, though. - Bottomless chips and salsa: Unfortunate that this required paying for, while many restaurants offer for free, but they were still tasty and the salsa was good while not being too spicy. - Habanero sauce: We asked if there was any extra spicy salsa-like dipable and were told there was Habanero sauce, which was a $3 charge. We ordered a side of it, and were thoroughly warned that we needed to be very careful with it. It definitely had a kick, but was not destructive. - Street corn (elote): Delicioso! Hot, savory and creamy with a citrus kick, but without the corn being overcooked. Very good. - Fish tacos: Also very tasty and excellent quality. My chief flags were the prices and that the man next to us sat for a while trying to get a beer and was seemingly being ignored by the bartenders (they were attending to other guests that had arrived after). I flagged down the bartender that was serving us and asked him to pour the guy a beer, which ended up being remarkably expensive for a stone IPA. I was in town for a Bachelorette party but arrived later in the evening. Everyone was in Disneyland, so I took the opportunity to have a quiet solo dinner before meeting the gals. I can't tell you how many times I've passed by Centrico but never ate there while in Downtown Disney. It stuck out in the back of my mind. How could it not? Centrico is right in the middle of Downtown Disney and notably has a tropical villa kind of vibe. I checked the restaurant's availability earlier in the day. It was one of the few spots where I could reserve a table for 1 if I wanted to. That said, I decided to take a chance at the bar, which was first come first serve. I arrived around 8:45pm, and the place was packed. It had a long queue of parties to get in too. Luckily there were several seats for me to choose at the bar. Everyone on the bar staff was friendly. Bonus pointa for my food coming out fast. I ordered the Smoky Paloma, which was fine. I believe it's a pre-batched cocktail. I could've sworn I saw my bartender pour it out of a tap. I was torn between their fish tacos and Centrico burger. My bartender said I could go either way. They're both her favorites off the menu. The fish tacos actually seemed like more food since the dish came with 3, so I opted for the burger. Solid choice if I do say so myself. The burger was juicy. We ordered Antojitos, and the tuna Tiradito was the winner. The shrimp aguachile was simply an unappetizing color. (This was the consensus of my dinner party) The shrimp ceviche was nice and vibrant in flavor. For main meals, everything was pretty decent. My only issue was I got the ribs. They were in a tamarind sauce that was not well balanced. It was tart and bitter. I had everyone at the table try them, and they all said the same thing. They lacked a depth of flavor and were almost too sour. The server did the best she could. It was a busy night. We had to keep flagging people down to get drinks and the things we needed. The busboys wanted to clear the table while we were all talking. That's a pet peeve of mine when you incessantly have to say you are still eating. The ambiance is fun. It's outdoors. Lots to look at, when you're overlooking downtown Disney. The bathroom is not super convenient, it's a Disneyland thing. You have to walk inside the building and go up a flight of stairs. We enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant as it is located right in the center of Downtown Disney. Great for feeling like you are right in the middle of it all and people watching. I had a salad that had sweet potatoes in it and it was really good. My family also enjoyed their entrees. However, I did knock a star off as I thought the service was slow and the server was mediocre. Our waiter forgot to take one of our drink orders and we had to ask for some items more than once. It's modern, lively and airy, perfect for SoCal weather and the bustling atmosphere of Disney park. I really like the layout of Centrico in general and their 360-degree-view bar setting with alcohol display, so unique. Came straight here after my visit at DCA, all I want was to grab a cocktail and rest my feet after a long day. Arrived at 10PM and bartender nicely told us they were about to close, probably in 30 minutes. Even so, my visit at Centrico was pretty chill, she didn't rush us to place an order or anything. A few other people showed up even later than us, everybody seems to have a comfortable time hang out at the bar with their friends and family members. We ordered Tropipop Crush and Pina Mule, it was alright, I didn't really taste much of watermelon in my drink but it was enjoyable, I finished it before hopping to another bar nearby that was recommended by the bartender and other guests. Overall, I had a good time at Centrico, wish I can stay longer for another drink or hungry enough to other some food to try, but there will always a next time. My Gf, ordered the Cochinita pibil and she said it was good we ordered guacamole and it was ok. Service was slow. It seemed like one server was handling too many big tables. No water refills or soft drink refills and it took about 20 minutes to get the check. Restrooms are across at Paseo, so we did not want to leave while waiting to pay. In all my years of walking to downtown Disney, I've passed by this place many times. For my fiancé's birthday I chose to have dinner with her and her friends here. I managed to get us in that little bit earlier than our scheduled reservation. As soon as I looked at the menu, I need right away that chips, salsa and guacamole were on them must have. The chips were made fresh and very crispy. This salsa was OK, but was too blended. I could definitely taste chipotle in the salsa, but it wasn't that bad. We all ordered cocktails, which were really good. The best part came when our entrées arrived. I had three fish tacos, wrapped in fresh flour tortillas. The mahi-mahi was good and the crème aïoli was very good on top. I added a little lime to it, which made it all come together. She had the Ahogada Torta with crispy Carnitas and beans and slivers of pickled red onion on top. The sauce that was all over was very spicy. Our friends had the potato taquitos and shrimp tacos, which they seem to enjoy very much. Are we or Erik was a very nice person. He looked after us and brought us more chips. In the central part of Downtown Disney lies a circular, canopied haven from the overwhelming bustling of the Disney crowds. Centrico is a fine dining Mexican cantina which serves Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytan's contemporary takes on Mexican street food and classics. The restaurant combines an open-air layout with natural characteristics (wooden decor, verdant foliage hanging down from the lattice roof, etc.) to create a lush, relaxing atmosphere. You almost feel like you're in a bubble where the liveliness of the Downtown flows and ebbs all around you, but you are sort of removed from all of that. Centrico offers a variety of cozy places to chill at, from their upscale bar to the intimate fire pits. Getting to the food - my buddy and I ordered two of their signature dishes - Chef Carlos' BBQ ribs ($25) & the Huarache de Asada ($24). The ribs offer some generous amount of tender meat on each bone. It is coated by a sticky, smoky, and tangy chipotle-tamarind glaze and garnished with dill & mint. A side of coleslaw and pickled cucumbers accompanies it. While I thoroughly enjoyed the tangy punch of flavors with the first rib piece, I did quickly grow tired of the richness of the tamarind sauce afterward. This dish seems more ideal as a small bite opener to split with the table. The Huarache de Asada was lovely from start to finish. A corn masa lays out the foundation of the dish, and it is then topped by juicy, flavorful flank steak along with a black bean purée, caramelized onions, and a goat cheese sauce (I appreciate that they really tamed down the punch of the goat cheese flavor). All of the flavors work in tandem with each other - the meatiness of the flank steak with the sweet jammy feature of caramelized onions, and robust black bean puree and corn masa. Their freshly made guacamole ($17) is an easy hit too with smashed avocados, citrusy lime, cilantro, and onions. They are served with warm tortilla chips (these are a tad bit saltier than I prefer). Between the beautiful decor, laid back ambiance, and delicious food, I'd be willing to visit again (with more Disney buddies). read more

The seating at this restaurant is beautiful. It's entirely outside and has a huge bar in the center of the restaurant. Aesthetically it's perfect. They have heaters up top but they're not that warm and don't blow heat very well, so heads up if u come in the colder season. The service is good. You're greeted at the front and they ask you to wait in the host line until a table is ready, which is pretty quickly. Once we got seated, George took care of us and he was very nice. We started off with chips, guac and salsa. It was a good starter. But there's a lottt of garlic, and I love garlic, but be aware. The salsa isn't your typical salsa either it's quite different, not bad. For dinner one of my party got the fish tacos and she said it was amazing. A 10/10! Another guest got the lamb quesadillas and said it was ok. She barely had any cheese in the 'quesadillas' but still liked it. Just wished there was more cheese. I got the chicken mole tacos, these were also ok. The chicken was shredded and I don't really care for that. The sauce and everything inside was also just ok. They originally brought us 2 fish tacos, so I was waiting eagerly for my chicken tacos but unfortunately I was a bit disappointed. Wouldn't order it again. For drinks we got the tropical breeze margarita, tropipop crush and espresso martini with carajillo. The tropical breeze is picture perfect, but it's veryyy sweet. The tropipop crush wasn't bad but we didn't taste any alcohol. It tasted like juice. The espresso martini with carajillo was ok. The carajillo made it too sweet. It had no foam on top and looked like it was premade, unshaken and just sitting in the fridge :( neither of us in the group would get these drinks again. As we were late in making dinner reservations, this was the only sit-down restaurant that we could find at 7pm that did not have a 2-hour wait on a Saturday evening. The bar was open seating, so we were able to get a seat almost immediately upon arrival. You get the exact same menu at the bar. Our server was really awesome. I wish I remembered his name. He gave us honest recommendations and gave us a Tupperware of fresh salsa when I asked to take the tortilla chips to go (which by the way were also really good). Our favorite dish was the Quesabirria, which stood out in flavor. Both of us did feel that the cheese was a little too burnt though. The shrimp aguachile was refreshing and spicy (if you eat a chili). I also enjoyed the Huarache de Asada, although it did not have any striking flavor profile. This year, the world was blessed with Cinco de Mayo and Taco Tuesday falling on the same day, a phenomenon so rare that we decided to go celebrate at Centrico. We had been to Centrico once before and really enjoyed it. The food was excellent, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere of an al fresco meal in the heart of Downtown Disney was so vibrant, refreshing, and fun. This Cinco De Mayo, Centrico really blew us away! We arrived around 8pm on a Tuesday night. There was about a 20 minute wait on our first visit, but, this time, we were basically able to just walk right in. We were lucky enough to catch a live mariachi band serenading us as we dined. Our server was Wendy, and she did an absolutely amazing job of taking care of us. She was on top of everything and knew the menu and specials very well. On this night, Centrico was partnering with Don Ramon, to bring us a limited time cocktail called the "Tropical Breeze," made with guava, coconut, and Don Ramon Tequila Blanco, recommended to us, of course, by Wendy. The cocktail was delicious and creamy. The guava and coconut flavors went together very well, and the tequila went down smooth. As part of this promotion, Don Ramon also had a representative there that night handing out free samples! This was such a nice surprise as I am never one to turn down free shots. And they were great shots too. Smooth. Went down easy. Not too much burn. Nice lingering warmth. Good flavor. Chips and salsa are complementary, but we also ordered a guac with a side of chicharrones to start. Both tasted fresh and delicious. I especially love the guacamole and chicharrones combo. Entrees are deceptively filling. I had a wet burrito on my first visit - loved it. Was bursting at the seams. This time, we all got tacos in the spirit of Taco Tuesday. (Disclaimer: there's no actual promotion for Taco Tuesday at Centrico. We are referring to "Taco Tuesday" as the colloquial designation of Tuesday as the day of the week to consume tacos). Together, we got the ribeye, fish, and carne asada tacos. Each portion comes with 2 to 3 tacos that are definitely substantial enough as a meal. The ribeye was tender and came on two corn tortillas with melted cheese, served with a red and green salsa. I also enjoyed topping my tacos with leftover guacamole from our appetizer. My favorite taco, however, was the fish taco. I suppose the fish rotates depending on what's available, but on our night we had swordfish. The swordfish was cooked so beautifully. It was soft and had a delightful meaty texture. We also shared some sides of Mexican street corn and rice, which were delicious as well. I would definitely recommend dinner at Centrico. The festivities for Cinco De Mayo made our night. The live mariachi music and free alcohol were such great surprises, but even on a regular night, Centrico is a wonderful place for dinner. Ever since I was a little boy, I remember walking past this centerpiece of a restaurant in Downtown Disney, captivated by the beautiful bar and open air dining environment (my parents never took me though). My family decided to start our weekend in Disneyland by trying one of the newer restaurants in Downtown Disney, Centrico. I had read lots of good things, and my family loves a good Mexican restaurant. I had a reservation, which I recommend anytime you want to do sit-down dining in Disneyland. Centrico is a cool, outdoor restaurant. It is a covered space with lots of cool seating and a large bar in the center. Above the bar is a beautiful, natural light that feels like the sky. The service here was really good, although they all seemed very busy. The food here is very good. The chips and salsa was delicious although I kind of got pretty full on them because they were just so good. The entrees were all really good. My favorite dish was the fish tacos. They were pretty large and packed a lot of flavor. The Huaracha de asada was really good, but I felt the flavor or the corn tortilla kind of overpowered the other parts of the dish. The steak was good, yet I would've like more of it! The salmon was really well cooked and had a nice crispiness to it. There was a bed of sweet corn underneath that was really the dominant flavor of the dish, but it was tasty! Overall, a great dining experience. I would go back here anytime! read more
