The staff was really nice and made the experience even better. We started with It's a Small World Aperol and it was so good! Loved the Disney design! Then we ordered the crusted warm brie and jam. OMG, so good! We ordered the ribeye, baked potato, mac and cheese and the bbq brisket pizza. Our meal was fairly priced and a pretty good value. I will say that parking can be tricky. Unique place! The outside looks like a regular house but it's a two story restaurant in a house and a brewery in the back. I came here with some friends (group of nine) for dinner on a Sunday night. There's some interesting decor outside and inside, mainly Disney and Nightmare before Christmas. There's a good variety of food from pizza to tacos. There are also plenty of drink options including mocktails. I ordered Passin' me by for my drink and birria tacos for my meal. The tacos were surprisingly good! I really didn't know what to expect but they were great. My drink was also good. It wasn't too sweet or overly fruity but had that refreshing lime flavor. The best thing about this place is the prices! Prices are absolutely reasonable and the food and drinks were solid. I really wanted to like Broken Spirits, but unfortunately this visit missed the mark for me. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich and it was very tough -- not tender or easy to bite into at all. The redskin potato salad tasted like straight mayonnaise with little to no seasoning or flavor. The baked potato was honestly disappointing -- just split open with a heavy scoop of sour cream in the middle and no salt, no pepper, no butter flavor, nothing. It felt unfinished and not thoughtfully prepared. The Asian salad was also confusing and came with three huge circular slices of orange that didn't make sense with the rest of the ingredients and threw the flavor balance off. The one bright spot was the spinach and artichoke dip -- that was genuinely good -- but the crostinis served with it tasted stale. My cocktail was very average and didn't stand out. On top of that, the decor and overall ambiance felt strange and not very cohesive, which made the experience less enjoyable. The service also didn't help -- our server felt rushed and somewhat rude, and I didn't feel welcomed during the visit. Made a last minute reservation here for my friend's birthday. Love the ambiance and decor featuring all the famous movie villains. The entire space is cozy and very inviting. We ordered a couple drinks, my friend wanted a wild turkey and sprite but they didn't want wild turkey. She ordered a different drink which I can't recall, but they didn't have it either. So she ordered a drink off their menu which was good but not necessarily what she wanted. I had a Manhatten, but they didn't have sweet vermouth, so kind of disappointing. For dinner We ordered the buffalo chicken dip and we both ordered steak. I got the ribeye and she got the filet mignon. The buffalo chicken dip was decent, But probably wouldn't order it again. The steaks were cooked well, very tender. They both came with a chimichurri sauce on top which wasn't listed in the description. I thought mine was good but she said hers was a little salty. In truth, I didn't care much for the chimichurri sauce that came on the steak. All in all it was a decent experience, food was ok and drinks could have been better. It's so easy to miss this place, next to the villains brewery, since it does not look like an actual restaurant and just looks like a random house. They share the same small parking lot, which was fine on a Sunday night but probably challenging on a Friday or Saturday. The server was new and didn't know much about the place, but he was very friendly and attentive. The house is huge and not even half was filled so I hope people will find this place. A unique and delicious little spot to checkout. This is a great date night especially for those who enjoy a little darker atmosphere. With a slight haunted/horror vibe you can get a little Halloween feels all year round. The cons we found parking difficult, walking may be a must so beware of footwear choices, and it was a tad difficult to find the location. Came in on two separate occasions to try this place out during end of August and again around mid October. I will say that the difference comes down to how busy they get. If you go in October, there is a wait to get your food and drinks. To me that was not a huge deal breaker as we went in a group and had a great time passing the time chatting away. Versus if you go a different month or when they open it's not as busy. Our server both times was Sierra (hopefully I spelled her name correctly) she is absolutely incredible. Despite being busy she checked in on us frequently and apologized for it being so busy. She's absolutely amazing and made our dining experience memorable. The drinks here are amazingly delicious and will certainly creep up on you. Highly recommend the it's a small world aperol drink, which is the drink with the cool designs. The appetizer are all amazing and you can't go wrong with any of the option. The buffalo chicken dip is spicy and savory. The artichoke spinach dip is creamy. But as a fellow Brie lover my favorite appetizer is hands down the crusted Brie and jam. Definitely worth it. As far as the food goes, my favorite is pepperoni pizza slice. It really hits the spot and is even shareable if you want it as a "appetizer" or just all to yourself. I also tried the smoked brisket grilled chimi-cheese and I will say it was very hearty and delicious. Paired with homemade chips definitely made this dish definitely worth trying. Overall, this place is amazing and definitely worth trying. I will note to avoid sitting under a vent as it can get very cold. Parking here can be hit or miss as it is limited. Other than that, definitely worth checking out. Especially for all the photo ops available throughout the restaurant. This is an updated review since my last visit last year around this time. Parking was still bad. I checked the small parking lot next to Broken Spirits before proceeding down Water to find parking a few blocks from the restaurant. I see signs encouraging people to take the FRAN to get around, which I had to look up because I do not live in Anaheim and not familiar with it. Apparently it is a public micro-transit that provides people with free rides around the Anaheim Packing District areas. We ordered a slice of the pepperoni pizza, a spinach artichoke dip, a ghost host drink, a mai tai drink, a smoked bbq birria tacos plate, a baked potato, and an ube cheesecake. The spinach artichoke dip came with super chunky pieces of artichoke that I had to cut down a bit more and wasn't as hot (temperature-wise) as I'd like. But other than that, it was tasty. read more

We went to a special chef's 5 course tasting that was advertised on the Resy app for a kid-less date night. The outside is cute and is located right next to villains brewing. Parking is awful! So be prepared to street park or uber. We were offered welcome drinks upon check in and were showed our seats upstairs. The decorations for Halloween was a nice touch. The courses we had: aguachile scallops, stuffed squash blossom, butternut squash ravioli, lamb lollipop, tri tip w/ baked potato, and bread pudding. I wish we sat next to other people who also did the tasting menu to make it more intimate, but we were sat next to regular dinners. Happy hour is so clutch here! Hubby wanted to grab dinner on a Saturday night so we made reservations. We were pleasantly surprised they had happy hour starting at 9pm. Drinks are buy one get one free on wines and specialty cocktails but must be the same drink. That was totally okay with us! Otherwise they also have happy hour 2-6pm and 9pm to close every day. We started with the tragic kingdom which was delicious, loved the rum and the banana liqueur. As an appetizer we had the spinach artichoke dip. On a Tuesday night my husband and I stumbled upon Broken Spirits Distillery after dining at Villains Brewing and each had a cocktail during their "9-Close" Happy Hour. We had a great experience, the bar tender was friendly, the drinks were yummy, and we walked around to explore all the Halloween decor they were starting to put up since we had the place to ourselves. On their drink menu, it says "Happy Hour 2-6pm Monday - Friday." (See picture attached) So, we decided to come again 2 days later on Thursday to enjoy their earlier happy hour times. When we arrived on Thursday, the place was empty and after about 2 minutes were greeted by a staff member who told us Broken Spirits doesn't open until 5pm and the 2-6pm m-f happy hour is at Villains Brewing. We mentioned that the menu here, at Broken Spirits, says happy hour from 2-6pm m-f, but he was dismissive and didn't acknowledge the discrepancy. This place is definitely understaffed! Came here with my fiancé for dinner because I've heard such great things and it looked super fun. Wanted to see the Haunted Mansion vibe in person. I had high hopes having seen reviews and visited their website (which only shows the food menu for the Long Beach location btw). First off the parking is HORRIBLE. We drove through their much-too-small lot twice without a single open spot before driving across the street into the neighborhood to park about 1/4 mile away. So be aware of that. Anyway when we first stepped in we were right in the middle of the main dining room. The hostess asked if we had reservations, I said yes and gave her the name, then she said something and walked away. We waited there awkwardly in front of the entrance and next to people eating for the next 5 minutes wondering if we were supposed to follow or stay put. She finally came back and told us to follow her. We were seated outside on the back patio. Cool area right between the historic house and the main distillery warehouse. We could hear the music from the big outdoor area but it wasn't too loud, added a nice 90's hits vibe to our dinner. We ordered drinks and started with some apps...or so we thought. I ordered the mussels which come with pork belly and sounded so good! The server said they were out of them, but had all the other apps. We asked if we could swap out the crostinis for veggies for the dips and were told they only have roasted veggies no raw, so no apps for us. We both decided to get the filet mignon. I chose broccolini and carrots for my sides, she chose brussels sprouts and corn on the cob for hers. All good! Then the server came back, no corn on the cob :/ Needless to say we were a bit annoyed by this point at not being able to order what we actually wanted. The steaks came out cooked very good with a chimichurri sauce on top that actually had a great kick to it. The veggies were cooked very well and tasted great, but all of them had the same topping of shaved parmesan and a drizzle of balsamic sauce. Still tasty regardless. By the end of our meal it started getting a bit more crowded with people coming out the door right by our table. Before we knew it there were people standing all around us talking, putting their drinks next to us, and generally getting in the way of us enjoying a nice dinner. Once we finished eating we sat around for about 20 minutes, our server never came by again. We didn't get a chance to order more drinks, dessert, or even get a refill on our water. I finally got up and had to hop the railing to go back inside due to being blocked in by random people standing around in order to go inside to find the server and ask for the check. I paid and we left immediately. They need to hire more people and maybe train the staff a bit better. I would also suggest some sort of separation between the main "restaurant" (the old house) and the big open distillery/bar area. The parking situation also needs to be addressed. read more

I had a great time during a post-work happy hour at Broken Spirits. We were especially excited about their happy hour menu because drinks are buy one, get one free. They have to be the same drink, but if you're going with a group of friends, buddy up and take advantage of this deal. Our group ordered a mix of items, including, the warm Brie and jam, Mac and cheese, and Brussels sprouts. I ordered the buffalo chicken pizza because they ran out of pepperoni, but this was also a solid choice. While it's only one slice, it is a big and thick slice. It is also served with a side of potato chip fries. All the food was good and the drinks had a kick to it! I don't recall the name of one of my cocktails but the other one I had was the Ghost Host, which has a mezcal base. It's really good if you enjoy the smokiness of the mezcal. We showed up without a reservation with a party of 8 and we were seated right away. I think we got lucky with our timing though. We've been wanting to come here and finally got the chance when we needed to stop for lunch. First of all, I seriously love old houses, which means I love restaurants in old houses. This one is in a lovely old 2-story house with a big front porch. Already in love. We got there right at opening, and along with another party, we had the place to ourselves. We sat on the first floor, but we to were able to explore the second floor. There is a Disney theme to it, although not overly themed. It has a great cocktails-with-dinner vibe, rather than touristy kitch. I really liked it There's a fireplace on the main floor and a wood banister leading to the upstairs. There are two "hidden " rooms behind bookshelves that push back into doors. Very cool! There are touches of Disney everywhere. Our server was very nice and we got our food pretty quickly. We all loved our meals. We had the pastrami sandwich, which had wonderful thick slices of pastrami. We also had the Paso Robles sandwich. Both were served with delicious homemade potato chips. We also had the smoked brisket tacos. They were so yummy and were piled high with brisket--so much meat. This place has so much to offer. On the walls, there are historical Disney pictures all over. We got there in a Sunday night and it was pretty empty. So empty in fact they only opened the bottom floor for dining. However, we were welcome to explore the top floor also. For drinks we got a dry martini with very very well infused olives! Some would like it, some would not. The small world Apersol got rave reviews too. For food, both the tritip tacos and brisket sandwich was super good and tasty! Highly recommend. Make sure you have a reservation just so they know how much staff they need. They only had 2 front staff which makes sense why only the lower floor was open for dining yesterday. For parking they have small lot that prob can fit 15 cars or so, but it's shared with the Brewery next door. This place has FRAN drop off too, but other than that, it's street parking. Parking is small, but you can park by city hall and take a FRAN over. Once you walk in, you're greeted with a beautifully decorated space, you'll feel the haunted mansion/gothic+Disney vibes. It's very fun while being classy at the same time! We were seated on the second floor, where the beauty continues. Service was warm and friendly the entire time! They were fabulous! The drinks are fantastic. Ghost Host is a perfect kickback drink. It's a Small World has that perfect sweetness and delicious! Started off with a Spinach and Artichoke dip, now when I typically get this dish anywhere else, I have to use pepper to give it a slight kick. I didn't have to do anything to spice this up. It's perfectly seasoned, and the crostinis are also very well seasoned and oiled for the dish. And if you run out of the crostinis, they'll happily get you more! Prime New York Strip - The spices here are perfection. And the cook of the steak, I got medium rare. The steak melts in your mouth, and the chimichurri was a perfect match for it. Brussel sprouts were perfectly cooked, they were not too soft and the freshly grated Parm and Balsamic Vinegar were the perfect combination. Broccolini was also perfect with the Parm and balsamic vinegar, the tops were charred which made it deliciously crispy. Baked potato was perfect, with the butter, sour cream, and a little bit of chives. Simple, but great complementary. Mac and cheese, oh, this was fantastic. You can tell the cheese sauce was made in house. It was creamy, rich, and amazing! Ube Cheesecake. I... Love...ube. This was just an absolutely perfect way to end the meal. It wasn't overly sweet. If you don't know Broken Spirits replaced what used to be Craftsman 1904 into this new concept. They do still have shared private lot parking with Villain Brewery next door or there is free street parking in the adjacent neighborhood streets. The decor has been completely redone with a Disney house theme! They are targeting Disneyland lovers/influencers as they explained. The menu has also been completed revamped with now an all day ala carte food menu with Disneyland inspired cocktails. The food here is actually very good! If you dined at the previous Craftsman 1904 prefix course menu you will recognize a majority of the menu items are reimagined with those same primary ingredients, ala BBQ. Yes Smoke and Fire is still the parent company idk. The cocktails are all beautiful in general! They do have a full open bar so they can make you literally any drink, if they have the ingredients. Or yes you can also order beer from next doors Villain and they'll bring it to you. A large number of there cocktails have laser printed Disney images on top and perfect for the gram! We got the It's a small world and it was absolutely delish, especially for those that love dole whip! It's got all the essence of the iconic Disney dessert with that fun printed Toy Story and Jack Skeleton on the other. I do think they have a full template of themes or you could have them print any picture if you ask? They do also have a secret drink menu if you ask your server! We got the Churro Old Fashioned off the secret menu and wow the presentation is totally gram worthy served with a tiki smoked glass. You're serve will bring it to the table while still smoking and present it to you for the full experience. The cocktail itself is very banana-ish forward liquor on the palate and finishes with a cinnamon finish. Didn't really get much of the "churro" play but still a good non-traditional cocktail. For food we literally got items off every category. The best bang for the buck was absolutely the Pizza items! They are ALL only $6!! That's just a bargain in today's economy and comes on a sourdough likely bread topped with your choice of protein. It's also served with a bag of the homemade thick cut potato chips. Our favor was the BBQ brisket pizza. The pepperoni was OK. For sandwiches we got the the most popular ones: Smoked Brisket Grilled Chimi-Cheese: This one had the same brisket sliced meat from the pizza and was super delicious! It's on a toasted on a crispy bun and the chimichurri sauce with the sweet/savory dill pickles and garlic butter was literally the perfect bite. Again its served with its house chips and two small pickles. I'd absolutely recommend this and would order this again The Oscar: Tri-tip sandwich with Cherry Chipotle bbq sauce, moz, fried onion straws and creamy parsnip. If you love a sweeter bbq sandwich this is the one for you! The tri tip is cooked to super tender perfection with that sweet tart smokey bbq sauce. Also served with same sides. Again would order this again and is there top seller! We did also get a variety of the tacos but yeah they were just OK. They aren't know for Tacos here but yeah they do serve them. The servers are always great here and very attentive! Yeah some are still from the old Craftsman 1904 staff! Yeah we absolutely will be back again for drinks and good eats! It's literally a hidden gem for locals to come hangout! Yeah watch for the Disney Influencers to slowly promote this place but come try it before the news gets out! read more
