I love Mediterranean food So we went after a tired day of hiking, and were a little disappointed that they don't have liquor, but figured if we felt deprived after dinner we could always stop somewhere on the way back. Ambience? You can see they've tried, but the attempts are a bit cheesy. Don't go for the ambience. Food? I was very happy with my chicken swish-kebab. It was grilled perfectly and very nicely spiced, and came with a salad and fries. My husband ordered the stuffed eggplant but did not like it. I tasted it, and found it fine. So that was subjective. Service was excellent. My conclusion is that if you like swish kebab, this is your place. It's really very economical, considering all that you get for under $20. read more

Nice, small dining place and unfortunately, no outdoor seating. Started with their calamari. No tentacles at all and we felt it had too much batter, but that's where the flavor was stored. Still would have preferred less batter and more tentacles. Luckily, the main course carried the weight as the Mediterranean steak was so flavorful, well marinated and very well seasoned. The creamy spinach was really enjoyable. Wifey had the roasted artichoke salad. Never had artichoke before and it was also very flavorful. Very filling. Went to sultan for dinner on one of our nights at Moab and for such a small city I was surprised with how good the food was. This is a cute restaurant with nice middle eastern decorations and the service was great. Once we sat down we ordered: * appetizer - hummus with chicken shawarma- this came with warm pita and gosh this was yummy. The spices with hummus and the well marinated chicken was delicious *chicken kabobs - super yummy and came with rice, salad, this red sauce and tender pieces of chicken - one of my fave dishes! *lamb kabobs - similar to the chicken kabob plate but the meat was a bit on the chewier side. When we first walked up to the Sultan, we were a little skeptical. It was all closed up and had a drained pool attached (??) but inside it was great. The windows are all closed up because of how strong the sun shins in. The staff was really friendly and our waitress gave us some advice about what to pick. The reason I'm giving 4 stars was the salad was not good. The lettuce was so welted and just wasn't good overall. Everything else - AMAZING. Wow this place is quite a gem. I was passing through Utah and a friend of mine recommended Sultan to me. Let me tell you, I am sooo glad I took the time to stop here for lunch. It was about 30 minutes out of the way for me but well worth it. Service was great but the food was incredible! I got the Sultan Pita with French fries and a side of roasted veggies. If I had just come here for the appetizers and left, this wouldve been a five star review. I started with the fresh traditional za'atar bread and fried cauliflower. Both of those were delicious and perfect. The bread was fresh and covered in delicious unique spices and the cauliflower was perfectly lightly fried with great flavor and nice sauces on it. Unfortunately, my beef shish entree was really dry. I actually got extra salad dressing and dipped my steak pieces in there because it was so dry. My mom ordered the sautéed shrimp appetizer for her meal and the shrimp were shriveled up and dry and tough, extremely over cooked. They were inedible so she only ate one. We told the waitress and all she did was apologize and walked away, but did not do anything to remedy it. Between my dry beef and those horrible shrimp, it seemed like the chef just liked to overcook things. I came back a few days later for lunch and got the za'atar bread and the chicken lunch special. The lunch specials are a pretty decent value and the chicken was in some sauce so it wasn't dry like my beef was a few days before. Unfortunately this time, the za'atar bread did not taste fresh like last time, it was as if they decided to just microwave some leftover bread they made from the night before. You could tell because this time all the seasoning on top was caked on and hard and crusty, as opposed to nice sprinkled on like my previous meal. Overall, it just seems like they could never get everything right and things are pretty hit or miss. All the food in Moab is overrated and not spectacular though, so this is just par for the course here. read more

Fantastic and authentic Mediterranean food here in Moab. Visited this place for dinner after a day out in the mountains and the food here did not disappoint. We ordered their Havarti Chicken Shish which is served with rice, salad and grilled tomatoes and peppers and it was amazing. Also got their Sauteed shrimp (great), Manakish and babaganoush. Their Chicken shawarma platter was good too. Ask for their hot sauces and it will elevate the flavors of our food if you are a spice lover. Every thing was great. I recommend leaving room for their baklava cos it was fantastic. Service was a tad bit slow but good. They have plenty of room to park right outside this restaurant. Food was ok. But not a kid friendly restaurant - they gave my hungry nine year old, a super hot meat skewer with his kabob and told him not to touch it. He tried to eat the kabob and burnt his finger and is still recovering a day later. My other kid is allergic to nuts - despite telling them ahead of time, he still had an allergic reaction from a sauce in the food. To top it off, they tried to double charge us on tips - They put a service fee of 18% in the bill and tried to charge an additional tip of 18% to 30% on top of it .. This was a very pleasant surprise in the town of Moab. The place is very nicely decorated, great atmosphere with Arabic music . Felt an authentic Arabic restaurant. The service was amazing! Our waiter was a young nice guy. He was great and fast, he came to check up on us a few times and made sure we were happy with everything. The food was AMAZING! Very tasty. Authentic in flavor. The hummus was so tasty. We tried Shia kebab, beef kebab, chicken kebab, falafel, pita bread and the kids pasta with meat ball which was tasty. We enjoyed it all. The Sultan is what dreams are made of. Everything on the menu is delicious. Breakfast? Gyro Omelette, waffle, or falafel Benedict. TRUST ME. Lunch? Gyro Pita-literally melts in your mouth it's so tender. Dinner? Treat yourself to the Mediterranean Steak. My favorite appetizers are the stuffed grape leaves and the hummus is incredible. At the end of October 2020, I took a road trip through the southern half of Utah. On Thursday, October 29th, I drove from Bryce Canyon to Moab, a lovely 5 1/2 drive, arriving at the Inca Inn Motel at 7:30pm. I was too tired to go searching for food and stopped here for dinner (I love Middle Eastern food, especially Armenian and Persian). I ordered The Sultan (Lamb & Beef Lulah Kabobs), and they were overcooked, dried out and pretty tough. Strange was the 2 thin strips of lavash bread that came with the dinner. What on earth did they think people can wrap with them? The basmati rice wasn't cooked very well as the rice broke apart easily. I know they are the only Mediterranean restaurant in Moab, but you should still provide excellent quality food. read more

This is a must restaurant. The atmosphere is just okay but the food and service were fantastic. When you arrive, you are pleasantly greeted. After seated, you are immediately waited on. We had been hiking around, so very hungry. We ordered the choice of 3 appetizers with Hummus, pita, tzatziki and olives. It came immediately and wow it was good. For the entree we ordered the beet salad with quinoa and we gobbled that down because it was so good. For dessert, we had the homemade baklava. That was the best I have ever had. The gyro sandwich is awesome! After eating mostly fast food during our journey here, this was a nice change of taste. Also, for a tourist town, the quality was excellent, even for the menu price of $13 (includes fries). The bread on the gyro was really good. It was nice and fluffy, but also had a slight crisp from the toasted parts. The gyro meat was great too as you would expect. The cuts were thicker than other places I've been to which helps with the juiciness. The only downside to the dish was that the French fries were a little limp and soggy, but I think it's because we had our order to-go (because of Covid) and it's been sitting in the box during our short drive to the hotel. The exterior of the building looks a bit shady, almost like a smoke shop or adult video store. Don't let the non-glamorous looks stray you away from a good gyro sandwich! If they had this place in my home town then I would dine here again just for the gyro sandwich. It was delicious, filling, and comparably priced. read more
