This might be a hot take but I like the chicken here more than the donuts! Don't get me wrong, I like the donuts too, but I didn't think they were that special. They come in lots of fun flavor. The crumb in the cake donut needs a little moisture, though the yeast donut texture is nice and sponge-y. The chicken on the other hand is hella good. I think they fry to order so it was piping hot when it came out. It's got lots of crispy, craggley bits. It's been seasoned on the inside (chicken) and the outside (batter) so there's tons of flavor. We got the plate which comes with either waffle fries or coleslaw. If you're sharing get one of each for some variety, but if you have to choose, definitely the waffle fries. I saw this storefront one of my first weekends in Moab and knew I had to come back. It didn't happen until a month later, right when we were about to leave back to California. I saw on Instagram that they were closing for the winter season on the day I visited. The business owner herself was there. We got the medium Nashville fried chicken sandwich but it wasn't spicy at all. I recommend getting it hot if you like it spicy since the medium was not spicy at all. I got extra hot sauce on the side which was just a lot of oil and not a lot of sauce. The waffle fries that came with the sandwich were tasty but nothing out of the normal range of waffle fries. Came in on our last day in Moab. You walk in and the donut counter is to the right. No tables or any place to sit inside. The woman behind the counter started off all cheery at first, asking "What's looking good!" when it was our turn. Stopped by here for breakfast about a month ago while visiting Moab. We had heard wonderful things about their donuts, and Doughbird definitely lived up to the hype! Their donuts are incredible - so many different creative donuts combinations to choose from. Their Oreo Cheesecake was our big favorite, but of our dozen, not a single one was bad (which is pretty impressive). They are definitely on the sweeter, richer side - so we had a lot of donuts to save for later. I'm also a big Halloween fan so it was cool to see they had decorated donuts close to the holiday. We showed up right when they opened at 7am on a Sunday but they were still friendly. Doughbird is a small establishment that specializes in coffee, donuts, and even fried chicken sandwiches. We came here early in the morning so I only got to try the donuts. There were so many to choose from! They had many unique flavors and vegan options too. We got the classic glazed donut and I think a cinnamon french toast donut. They were so soft, fluffy, and fresh. We enjoyed the texture of the donuts, which was almost addictive. I preferred the classic glazed because the cinnamon french toast was on the sweeter side. I look for anything chocolate, and they gave us some ideas of other popular items. The pleasant person behind the counter asked us the hardest question of the day...how many doughnuts did we want? The answer would result in a box vs. paper bag, so of course, we asked how many were needed for a box (6, BTW). We ordered 7. We had to be quick to make wait in the queue for Arches, so we paid, got our stuff, and headed back to the vehicle. I have only been to Moab a couple of times so I wasn't too familiar with Doughbird. However, they recently ranked super high on a top chicken restaurant list. I was excited to give them a go! DoughBird looks like it is made out of a backsplash. I love it. It is unique and stands out tremendously on Main Street in Moab. Since it is right on Main Street, parking can be a bit tricky. You either get lucky and parallel park right in front, or you have to park a little further away and walk. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a wide assortment of doughnuts. They had so many options to choose from! They were colorful and there were so many different flavors available! Unfortunately, I was here to try their chicken sandwich so I didn't end up trying any of their doughnuts. I ordered their chicken sandwich with the mild sauce and it came with a side of fries. It had pickles, a slaw, and a brioche bun. It didn't take too long for the chicken sandwich to come out. They don't really have anywhere inside to sit so pretty much everything is a to-go order. They have some seating off to the side of the building but that is weather permitting. If I am being 100% honest, the chicken patty was a bit thick for my liking. This is entirely personal preference, but I definitely enjoy more of a thin sandwich with breading. I think it is a ratio thing. The slaw was a bit overpowering with the flavor of the sandwich but the bun was absolutely delicious. For me, the star of the show was the waffle fries. They were the perfect amount of crunch and tasted so good. They paired wonderfully with the sauce that was given on the side. The people working were super nice and it was a fun, open atmosphere on the inside. I liked my visit and I hope to be back to try some of their doughnuts sometime! read more
