I love this place. All the food is always good. When I bring friends or out-of-towners here for the first time, they are always impressed with the quality and love the food. read more

I usually don't give reviews but this place really deserves one. The food was great and the service was fantastic! I'm Thai so I can say that the food is pretty authentic. And the price is not bad either. You will not be disappointed! read more

I don't know why I ever gave this place 4 stars. I've probably been here 5 times now and the last time I was there, I had the spicy squid curry. I literally had a nightmare that night that someone had stolen my leftover curry out of the fridge and eaten it. I woke up in a panic, but it was only a nightmare. I ate the leftover curry for lunch. This food will give you dreams. read more

I will keep this review simple. Prices are cheap, tasty food and decent quantity. I was here for lunch many times, the service is good and they cook pretty fast. I will get in/out within 30 mins which is perfect during lunch time. Pad thai is good, pad kee mao can be skipped. The real killer is the Angel hair noodles (chicken, spicy). read more

Best Thai food in the Area! Little hole in the wall place -super tiny but still amazing. _ Yellow Curry is my favorite! Comes with rice on the side and its delicious. _ Shrimp Pad Woon Sen is also really good. Noticed this dish at the next table and decided to order it .... great decision. Service is always great - super friendly. read more

Generous portions, friendly staff. My take-out order was ready right on time and very hot still when I got it back to the office. The lunch portions of pad thai are an excellent value! read more

This place is amazing. It's stunning that I move from Manhattan, where there are 10,000 restaurants yet much of the Thai is terrible, to Albany where I've now had some of the best Thai ever. This is not an exaggeration, this food is excellent. I would think this really is a take out joint, it looks just like that.... tiny neighborhood joint. Since it's a pandemic we are only taking out. Started with a cabbage salad, large, fresh and man that sauce? Delicious coconut and not sure what else but it was good. How did they make those carrot noodles soo soo long! Next up was the tamarinne shrimp ( how they spell it). Was tangy, yet sweet. All the portions are quite large. I don't love cooked pineapple in my food so I moved it aside and loved the rest of it. He had massamam curry. Was the biggest portion I've ever seen. It was so tasty. And dessert, why yes. I eat anything with pumpkin and that included their pumpkin custard. Seems to be made with kabocha pumpkin, my favorite. It has a dry, delightful texture, topped with a light eggy let's call it custard for lack of a better word. But it's not custard that you would find as a filling in something. It was firmer and delicious. I could eat that every day. What did he eat you ask? Sticky mango pudding. And it was.. sticky, mangoey goodness. Looking forward to eating here again. Lots of yummy things to try. Welcome to Albany. read more

Sukhothai - Thai Near Me - Albany, New York

Been here for lunch a number of times. The staff is always SO polite and the downstairs location (tucked just below street level on Lark) is a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. Every time I go, I get something from the "lunch special" section of the menu: the green curry is my favorite! Inexpensive. Quiet. Not flashy, but a great lunch spot. read more

Tried this place last week for the first time instead of going to Bomber's. Cozy hole-in-the-wall type place. Maybe 10 tables or so. And a few people came in for take-out while we were there. I'm a sucker for fried rice so I had to give it a shot. It wasn't the best I ever had but it was good. My girlfriend lover her red curry and they prepared it mild, just as she asked. Prices are very reasonable and the Thai iced tea was good too. Service was fast, friendly, and attentive. Will be back for sure. read more

I always get the pad Thai. The food here is by far the best Thai in the area. Service is always fast and efficient. Their central ave location is better for big groups and it's not too far from this one. read more

Sukhothai - Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp - Thai Near Me - Albany, New York

My wife and I come here from Schenectady whenever we get the chance. The food is consistently excellent with great prices and large portions. The service is always delightful and A little basement like atmosphere really adds to the comfortable ambience. We have eaten Thai food yet many other restaurants and never found any of them that were as good as Sukhothai. read more

This place is amazing. The food is really good and so is the service. They deliver as well which is great. The restaurant gets crowded sometimes because they are just that good but their pad see ew is great and well as their shrimp rolls. read more

I don't eat meat but the rest of my party does and we wanted to eat family style. The chef refused to make the dishes with meat on the side because it took to long to cook in a separate pan. The house wasn't full (25%) and it was only 5:30 on new years day. That's just lazy. Good food but can only give 1 star for disrespecting my belief system. read more

Best Thai food in Albany. If anyone says otherwise it's because they're contrarians. Sometimes I accidentally eat here three days in a row. Sometimes I get Sukothai for dinner ánd lunch the next day. Their Curry's are great but so are their noodles. Did I mention it's affordable?? Oh well. Ostensibly, Sukothai gets my seal of approval. read more

The best Thai restaurant in Albany hands down. If you're craving Thai food this is where it's at. The staff and owner are so very nice and the atmosphere is wonderful. The food is very delicious!!! I haven't had anything that I don't like. The spring rolls are a must. My favorite is the beef noodle soup. I love pho, and this is almost the Thai version. Every time I come here I Always order the beef noodle soup. My kids' favorite is the shrimp and chicken pad Thai. The beef pad see-ew is another regular that we normally get. And of course... shrimp and chicken musman curry. With side orders of sticky rice, you can't go wrong. I remember the first time we tried this place... My wife wanted to try it, we walked in and I thought to my self "a small hole in the wall." I'm open minded so I figured let's do it. We ordered things that we were familiar with. Spring roll, Curry, sticky rice, pad Thai. Can't go wrong with pad Thai. The portions were decent, and it smelled wonderful!!! The spring roll wasn't oily, had a nice crisp to it, and it was very flavorful. The pad Thai was cooked perfectly. The noodles weren't over cooked, the flavor was just right. And the musman curry was delightful. It wasn't too over bearing. Sometimes the curry powder can really over power the dish if not done correctly. To tell you the truth. I'm not big on Thai food, my wife loves it, but this place is great and I love coming here. I remember too, My younger son was just a year old at that time and and he was very fussy. I'm glad the last 2 groups just left so it was just us there. I tried holding him, he cried, my wife was trying to eat her food but he kept crying and crying. The waitress takes my baby out of my wife's hands and holds him. He stops crying. I'm looking at her and she's taking care of my son. She wanted us to enjoy our meal. She's singing to him and keeping him calm while we eat. That was so nice of her. After lunch, I thanked her not just for the food, but also the personal interest she showed to us. It was a very memorable experience. Since then, 4 years later, we are still regular customers at Sukhothai. I highly recommend it. Try it for yourself, you'll be happy you did. read more

By far the best thai in Albany. Unfortunately, Albany has a crappy selection of restaurants like this. Small, cheap, great food and great service. Seaweed salad alway fresh, and I get it every time. All of the rice and noodle dishes are cooked on the spot, always very hot (temperature wise), and the service is VERY quick. You could be in and out of here in 25 minutes if you wanted. I have tried them for take out, and I can see the food is NOT nearly as good. So if you have ordered the take out and were unimpressed, definitely visit the restaurant on Lark. P.S. The one on central is not as good for some reason. read more

Service was very helpful. The girls working were knowledgeable and able to assist my friend who had never eaten Thai before. Prices are very fair and portions were quite large. I got the chicken Satay app and the squid rice special. Overall, I was impressed, and full for $21.00. I will be returning. read more

The food at Sukhothai isn't bad, but it isn't great. I found the food to be mild in flavor and slightly oily. Service, pricing, and portion size were good. I recommend Blue Spice and Bangkok Bistro has higher-quality Thai food. read more

This might be my new favorite Thai joint. Appetizers are delicious and great for sharing (samosa, satae tofu). Entrees are not only scrumptious but served hot and appealing (I've had multiple curry dishes, salads and soups). I am in love with their Watermelon shake!! The staff has always been friendly and helpful with ingredient questions. Small space, but does the trick! read more

I'm very sad to be giving this place 2 stars. It used to be my go-to place for a good hot meal with friends, family, or a quiet dinner for one. However, I recently had a very unpleasant experience. Because I've been here so often I expected the wait for my food to be relatively quick. I had 40 minutes to spare and thought that would be sufficient. After twenty minutes I could tell the food would be awhile, so I asked to have my order to go. The waitress was OK with it. Ten minutes later I kindly asked when she thought the food would be ready. She snapped at me and said, "I don't know, you should've asked that before you ordered!" I was very taken aback since I'd never had that interaction with any wait staff there or elsewhere for that matter. I told her I was sorry (to be diplomatic), and that I'd come here a lot and never experienced that kind of wait. She snapped again and said "well, you should've thought about it!" She then continued to point out the three tables that came before me, emphasizing that take-out didn't mean I would get my order quicker. It makes me laugh at how ridiculous it was. It's a small business and they can't afford to lose a customer who has passed on their name to many in the community. In any case, I waited for my food because I didn't want to screw the cook over or waste the food, because it is delicious. But I won't be returning. Lest I get yelled at again. read more

Here's the correct URL to Sukhothai: http://www.sukhothaisushi.com/ I wouldn't deem this place authentic, but in the world of Albany eats, I don't think such a thing as "authentic" exists. Sukhothai on Lark draws crowds during prime dinner hours, so coming shortly before the dinner rush may be key for you. In this little shop (small seating area with only a few tables and chairs), you can expect fried rice dishes, pan fried noodle dishes, curries (panang, red, green, yellow), noodle soup, salads, and specialty rice plates. Among our large party, our order included chicken pad thais, beef pad kee mow, mixed tofu and vegetable rice dishes, samosas (not thai..), and duck kuay tiew (flat rice noodle) gai kua. From the presentation of our dishes, Sukhothai looked incredibly promising (moist and not overly sauteed vegetables, chewy noodles, hot slices of beef mixed in our pan fried noodles). However taste-wise, I thought it fell just a bit short. The rice dishes were SALTY, especially the mixed tofu and vegetable plate, where broccoli, carrots, peppers, and tofu were drenched in a brown sauce. Even with white rice, this dish was not quite salvageable. As far as the heat goes, it's subtle at first but then kicks in towards the very end. I'd venture to say that the spice level is medium for all of our spicy dishes. The noodles were much more balanced in flavor than the rice dishes, so for those who might not want a sodium-heavy meal, noodles may be your go-to. Service was quaint and attentive, which is always appreciated. Food came in rather slow on a week night, but given the large size of our party, you might not experience that when dining in smaller groups. read more

A huge order was placed for $105 moments ago, my order was the Drunken noodles with shrimp which is $2.00 more. Got my food there's only 3 pieces of shrimp and the noodles weren't spicy. Drunken noodle is a spicy dish and I shouldn't have to request that it be spicy. Being a customer you would think they will fix the issue, no instead I'm being told there's 5 pieces of shrimp and I'm not going to argue or go back and forth with them, but this will be my last time ordering from here. This is just my experience. Three other co-workers have also confirm theier drunken noodle wasn't spicy. NA read more

If youre driving on lark, you'd probably miss it it's that small. I've had Thai before, but I'm not sure that it was as authentic as Sukhothai. I got a lychee martini to start off but it wasn't as good as other places. Something about it tasted weird and it wasn't very cold which was made it less appealing. I ordered the Ka Prao Gai Kai Dao for dinner which is minced chicken with vegetables and rice. You can choose a seaweed salad or miso soup. I opted for the soup which was on par with other miso soups I've had. The entree though was delicious. The flavors were on point and it had just enough spice for a perfect amount of kick. The portions were generous and I had delicious left overs for the next day. I also was able to try the Thai Iced Coffee which was amazing and I am not a coffee drinker at all. The service was attentive, friendly and quick. It didn't take long for our meals to come out. This location is tiny on the inside, theres only room for about 15 people but you're pretty much right on top of eachother. I don't mind the intimacy though, but for a larger group I would try their Central Ave location. read more

Spicy Red curry and egg rolls with the green tea ice cream and singhai beer. It was a nice date out. Although, a tip for whyt ppl who eat here and order their dish spicy, but then retract it and demand it to be an "American-spicy", not the actually spicy.... just don't. Just save everyone the trouble and order it bland the way you like but are not brave to admit. You don't deserve the spices. read more

Cheap and casual and fast and yummy. I enjoyed the Pad-see-ew which is pretty much my go-to dish at most Thai restaurants. The server was nice enough to bring us chopsticks even though Thai people don't traditionally eat with chopsticks. The beer was cold and the wine was sweet. read more

I completely agree w/the previous reviewer; the food is WONDERFUL, authentic, cheap, and a great place to bring your friends for some fabulous food and good conversation in a casual little atmosphere. I'm particularly partial to the Pad Thai, hot & sour soup, and the Thai iced coffee. The service is great, everyone's very polite, and the place is, in my opinion, one of Albany's best-kept secrets. (Perhaps because it's overshadowed by Bombers, which is right next door?) Bear in mind though that when Bombers is usually packed, this place almost always has a free table or two, and is a terrific substitute when Albany's favorite burrito joint is just too effing crowded or slow to bother with. You won't be disappointed! read more

always gas, 10/10. staff polite and efficient. always return to this place when we're in town, would 100% recommend

Basic, cheap, good Thai food, a take-out staple that is oddly rare in the Capital District. No license though. If I lived down here I'm sure I'd eat at least a meal a week here. I have a cold & I'm dying for Tom Yum Gai -- there's nothing else like it. read more

One of the best Thai places I have ever been to! I love it! I always get the pineapple curry Duck with sticky rice.

A great little Thai place tucked away on Lark Street. Service was very helpful, explaining the different dishes to me, as I am new to Thai food. I had the curry, can't remember which one, but it had some peanuts in it. Very good. They also said that the curry can be made different levels of spiciness. I asked for it milder than I should have, but will know better for next time. read more
